I honestly do not know if you need the SIM card or not to access the market which will allow you to get the "Galaxy S Unlock" app. I have tried the "Galaxy S Unlock" app before but I could never get it working (with stock FW and Stock FW + Root). Im pretty sure that you cannot use that app once you update from Stock FW to Stock FW + JH7 (the original "GPS fix" back in Sept). However, the way I got my unlock code was the following steps:
1) Go back to complete stock FW using the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
2) Root the device using the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739304&highlight=click+root
3) Get your unlock code using the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761751
This may be the long method but this is the only way I have ever gotten my unlock code. But then again, once I got my unlock code, I never tried to get it again. The above steps that I took did not require a AT&T sim card at all.
I hope that helps.
Hey! Even i got this phone from United States to India and now even i m in a fix that how do i unlock. please tell me did u manage to unlock the phone?

you could use ( one click unlock ) not very hard two do,just save efs files then click unlock, one thing though if u are on froyo 2.1 click the the froyo 2.1 option or 2.2 if you on 2.2 froyo, but i think you need root to use this program (mite be wrong)
anyway good luck
it depends on the model of the galaxy s. In most cases, you will need to root the phone.
Help Pls
I had successfully unlocked my galaxy s using the procedure suggested on the related XDA forum.. the phone worked fine with a different network later on i accidently clicked the factory reset option.. now although the phone says its unlocked but i cannot see any network signal and the phone does not work on any sim card.
Pls can someone help
PS: I can switch on the phone and perform all other functions.
Try the one click unlock app thingy again, see how that pans out.
Also try this:
Go into settings > network and coonections > mobile networks > and manually choose your provider.
Mine is locked to my network also, but I'm now running Gingerbread. Any way I can get an unlock?

network lock off still cant use phone

i bought the galaxy s off ebay of the guy claiming it too be unlocked to att well when i got it wasn't i tried everything galaxy windows unlock generate galaxy s unlock app EVERYTHING!!!!!! and nothing works ive seen multiple ways tried em too still cant get it too be unlocked.im using firmware jpy and im using darkys 8.0 rom
Google up "super oneclick" and see if that will get you the unlock code.
Have you gotten unlock codes from any of the other attempts?
What happens if you use them?
Do you get any kind of connection at all? Voice calls only?
Dump Darkys put stock Eclair on and see how the phone behaves .

Try this, It unlocked my phone where the oneclick option had failed.
Unlock
im going to try to try these methods

[Q] Samsung Galaxy ace S5830d

Hello Everyone,
can someone help me unlock this phone plz? i been reading and reading but without any success.
i have Samsung Galaxy ace S5830d form koodo mobile in canada.
please sum1 help.
thanks for any help in advance
I have the same phone but locked to koodo's parent company (telus). If you are looking to unlock to use another carriers sim card, I found a tool on the play store that does it ( Galaxy Ace Unlock ). Your phone will have to be rooted and Busybox has to be installed for it to work. Keep a pen and paper handy as it may display a few different codes to try, you have 3 chances to try before your phone locks you out ( then you have to call koodo ). You will also need a sim card from another carrier, if you don't have one...borrow one for a few minutes. It worked on my Ace.
THANK U
I WAs able to root it and i unlocked it. thanks
