"Access to this url has been blocked" - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.
So...I've gotten this error in the browser depending on what Rom I'm using. What I've noticed is if I get this message in the browser then my email doesn't work either.
Now, I only get it when I use the data connection ... If I'm on wifi, I'm good.
The only articles I fine on this say that its something AT&T...but I don't get it with the stock Rom...so I'm not convinced. its obviously something with the Rom I flash.
Well... I just flashed GR-1.2...and I really like it! Gingerbread. And the netflix app!!!
So...any ideas how to resolve this? I won't always have wifi...and I need access to my exchange email for work at all times. unless someone knows of a decent convened (free) email app that supports exchange....but I really like the one that comes with the Rom.
Any help is much appreciated. I can't be the only one with this issue...or can I? :'(

I am having the same problem but only with particular browsers such as Skyfire. Works fine on wifi but won't do anything on wireless connection.

Yeah...like Opera mini will work fine because it uses a proxy. But Dolphin I get the same error...and the built in browser...really...I just want me exchange to work...and I'm sure if I just download another email app iy will work...but I can't find a free one that supports exchange.

No ideas at all?
=(

Why don't you post the link so we can all try it?

try reflashing or clearing your cache. other than that if your phone is paid for buy your company they often have browsing restrictions

A link to the ROM? Well...the link to GR-12 is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055622.
Firefly (an older version anyways) has the same issue. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914284)
Axura (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872784) (like your ROM Adam) did NOT have this issue. All the email and browsers worked mint!
Thanks!

Yeah...I'm not convinced it is a carrier restriction because it seems to be ROM based...it works fine on stock ROM...my post above shows some other ROMs where this has happened to me.

SOLVED!
Ok...I thought for sure I've tried this before but I guess not.
It's the APN settings!!!! I went in and created a new APN with just the title 'AT&T' with the settings found here and it worked! It looks like the URL and Proxy are supposed to be blank and have to set the username and password. Those are the only differences but it works!
Now my email works mint on the data connection along with Dolphin!
Thanks Adam for looking! Sorry I didn't think of this sooner.

thank you so much
my problem got solved.

WAP settings
Yes, basically on the mobile networks you're going through a proxy server set up by the carrier. That's why the WAP settings matter

https on froyo

I've been searching the forum bout this issue that I encounter after updating to froyo but I haven't found anything similar to my case.
It seems that since I updated to froyo, the browser can't open any https site (I didn't change anything, its the same configuration before updating which is work normally)....is there any configuration that I missed?
btw, I'm updating from original rom (never rooted before), so I assume I didn't do anything harmful to it...
please advise me...
thx
Same here for some reason, my online banking site refuses to load and times out immediately.

i dunno if you figured it out yet or not but, i had this problem, go to
menu, settings, wireless and network settings, mobile networks, access point names
then delete proxy/port, make sure to put those numbers in MMS Proxy and port
then network will refresh itself and try https sites they should work, if not reboot and try site again.

[Q] ROM with full proxy support?

Does anyone know of any Galaxy S GT-I9000 ROM with full proxy support?
I've tried DocRom, which has proxy support that only works for the built-in browser and is enabled for both 3G and wifi.
I've also tried the beta Cyanogen ROM, which does appear to have prxy support, but still has issues (it's a beta, after all) and doesn't have Market included.
I've tried for hours trawling google and can't find anything. So, anyone any ideas?
Cheers.

I dont think any such rom is available. . . ryt now .. !! if you happen to find one do post the link .
Found an app on the market, ASProxy (alsubang.github.com/ASProxy/index.html), no reviews available, but claims to enable WiFi proxy support... I was desperate enough, so I decided to be the guinea pig and spend the cash ($3)... and it worked!!!
I think it must be the only solution - I've looked forever on the market and via google. I was expecting to need a new ROM for this feature, but a simple app sorted it out.

Seems to work for everything, at least on my Uni WiFi. There are some issues I don't really understand in the documentation, so some networks may have issues, but not mine.
I have come across a very minor problem. My WiFi connection isn't great and drops occassionally. After it reconnects I have to manually disable and re-enable the proxy service.
There's a free program you might want to try here before you shell out, sounds similar:

[Q] (HELP) Cisco Jabber - Dialer Problem

Hi All.
I need some help.....
I've recently installed the new Cisco Jabber apk. I've added a custom Kernel with TUN enabled and I'm running VPNC widget to connect. Nearly everything works perfectly and I now get calls from my work desk phone directly on my DHD even when at home or out and about.
My one problem though is that when I try to make a call instead of being given the option to use Jabber (Dial from my Cisco Number) or my mobile network to make the call it defaults to the mobile network and of course doent work?
I've tried changing the settings over and over again but cant get it to work properly? I have tried 3 or 4 different Roms now thinking that it may have been a problem with one of them but still nothing works? I'm now pretty much convinced that its a Gingerbread problem but dont want to downgrade back to 2.2 until I've checked...
I have a friend that has Jabber installed on his Desire and it works perfectly.
Has anyone managed to get it working fully on their DHD??? If so can you post your Rom and Kernel details please???
Thanks
A gentle bump..... its been weeks and I'm still no further forward. Have tried several 2.3 Roms but still not been able to get it working properly? Has anyone else had any better luck than me?
Any chance I can get the default Cisco Jabber APK from you? I'd like to try it on my G-Slate.

I had the same issue, I downloaded an alternative Dialer e.g. Dialer one, and since then it is working perferctly.

Data works but not in browser

My data works but for some reason no browser will ever open a web page but apps like facebook and xda etc. all work without a problem. On wifi the browser will work as well but not on data connection.
I tried clearing cache, rebooting, airplane mode disable and then enable but got some reason data won't work in browser. I tried stock and dolphin as well but neither worked.
Any ideas?
Btw I'm on miui v6

Same issue here, hardly believe it's network/carrier related.
On russian forum (4pda.ru) found a guy with the same issue on his Galaxy Ace: it looks like everything works after resetting to factory defaults, but before the first time you
1. are out of wi-fi network range
2. have wi-fi enabled on the phone
3. trying to use browser (looks like all you have to do is to launch it)
Surprisingly enough Opera Mini works. Opera Mobile gives (slightly) more informative message: "Error requested content (site name here) cannot be resolved". DNS related stuff?
p.s. mine has stock froyo for EMEA/CIS (XWJPF), no root
Have you checked your APN settings to make sure they're all there and correct? solW might be right with it being a DNS issue.
Have you had the same problems with other ROMs?
It's not that data isn't working it's that it won't work in the browser only in apps

I also have the same problem...I was on v6 miui, then flash to twooey thinking it would fix the problem, but the issue is still there. I tried different modems also.

Based on my previous idea about DNS issues, I've just tried to access sites directly and somehow it worked (not without any issues of course).
Using direct IP I was able to access google page and do some search, following the search results was out of the question. Similarly I got xda-developers.com to load (but only text - no images, flash, banners, etc.).
So it looks like it is DNS related issue. It would be nice if someone with rooted device could investigate this.
utsmaster18, could you try this on your device? just to verify my guess ...
For me, same issue, is there any way to uninstall/reinstall internet-google stuff from the android? opera mini 100% funcitonal, nothing with dolphin

Sorry I'm not understanding, what exactly do you want me to do? I'm not familiar with internet terminology. You want me to go to a website by entering in an ip address?
What's a signature?
Yes, you got me right. Try typing ip address instead of site name/link for several sites
For example: "www.google.com" in my case was replaced by 74.125.39.105, "www.xda-developers.com" by 50.23.231.74 (to get site ip address you can use ping in windows/linux/(don't know about mac ^)) command line, i.e. ping "www.google.com").
Full address should look like "http://74.125.39.105", but in stock browser just the numbers will be enough. This should give you normal google seach page instead of internal error as result. Just in case, clear browser cache before that
Ouch ... had to wrap some links in quotation marks, because forum does not allow me to post links yet

This is still not working for me. And still working Opera, I really think that is some sort of messed up configuration at the internet browser android comes with...
sounds a bit like proxy problems of some sort, could you try resetting the browser to default settings?
Have you been using OpenVPN?
So did anything happen before this? Was it working before?
Reason I ask was that I had something similar when I flashed a different modem on a new ROM (even though the modem worked previously on a different rom). I flashed back to previous modem and it worked again.
Also thinking that APN may be the issue (possible ports configured which allow other apps internet access?). I would use download APN Global from market, backup my APN settings, delete and then use the database version pulled from the APN to refresh the APN's. So if it's not a modem issue (or haven't made modifications), then maybe try refreshing the APNs?
My 2c
Yeah it was working, even on the same rom but then just randomly it stopped working for some reason. I had never changed modems kernels or anything, it just decided to stop working.
What's a signature?
I am thinking it is APN issue. Any apps that could have potentially modified the APN's? I don't want to point to anything specific, maybe APN disabler? Otherwise, backup and get fresh APNs.
Yeah guys, I recon it would be APN.
In my case APN settings sent to me by my provider (in a configuration message) were wrong because they included Proxy: and Port: values. However when I checked the settings on local forums they didn't have the Proxy: or Port: (they were left blank). So, as soon as I removed values from those two fields it started working again. And yes, opera mini worked despite having Proxy and Port fields filled. So try blanking those fields out and see how you go. Remember to write down the original values first in case you need to go back to them.
Thanks guys for an interesting discussion and fix, nice work

Yep, that'd explain name resolving issue. Recreated APN with access point setting only and it worked for me. Thanks for the solution

Verizon users what's your APN setting for MMS?

I am having MMS issues where I can't get MMS and I have looked and looked for correct APN for Verizon and LP. I am still on 502 but I will like to know what are the settings in your APN that you are using there seem to be more than the ONE that I have...mine looks like pic but I still don't have full success..

From my understanding you can't set apn's on verizon they are auto programmed by the sim card. As for mms issues do you by chance have moab adblocker installed if so you need to add mms.vtext.com to your whitelist in adblocker. I had the same issues and doing this solved them. Hope this helps you out.

Thx for this info. I do run AdFree which I use in my custom rooted rom. I never thought to look there not sure if adfree could be part the issue.
I was going to ask if stock, but once my VZ N6 and all those others came with 5.1 installed already, it provides the answer.
When I was on FML, zzpianoman made this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58148948&postcount=3023
Flash it in recovery and let us know if it makes it better, it's worked for plenty of others, myself included, though I no longer need on my N6 stock (for the moment).
