Hi I am new to installing roms
and I want to install gingerbread rom anyone miui or cynogine ..etc
I was looking for Idiots guide for installing roms but couldn't find it
a friend once installed rom for me
current rom info ( don't know if you need to know or not)
Code:
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband: I9000JXJPE
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 hardcore at speedmod-k12o-500hz #56
build number: GingerBlue 1.4JPJPG DR.AKRIM
and BTW which rom is has the speed and long battery life ?
thanks in advance.
The title says it all
There's no idiots' guide to CM7 or MIUI as idiots are better off not going near them. You'd probably be better off with a normal custom ROM like Tweaky's or Darkky's. At least until you become more comfortable with flashing and recovering your phone.
Though CM7 instructions aren't hard to follow if you read them properly. Today's build is even easier.
OK found a video on youtube on how to
which one has better battery life?
Tweaky's VS Darkky's VS CM7 vs MIUI ?
Battery life is a problem in MIUI and CM7 so if battery life is your biggest concern you should probably take another.
I am totaly in love with MIUI thou, all the benefits of MIUI defenetly makes up for the slightly lower battey life.
As for installation if you just follow the guides (always a link in the first post of rom thread) to the letter you shoulden't have any problems.
Thanks alot I have just finished
Installing miui
Will try it for a while

hello fellow!
i read all relevant post regarding what i'm about to asking but i'm not convinced.
please XDA i'm going to upgrade my SGS gt i9000 on gingerbread
&
i want a custom rom with all lagfix, fast phone & better battery timing.
the main feature i'm interested in is!
i want the moving dock(i think that what it called)where we find 4 button of phone, contact, message, app, on the front homescreen with 7 pages.
in this dock all installed app can be seen at a time by moving it seperately on the homescreen.
there is no stable gingerbread rom atm
What you are looking dor is a scrolling wallpaper just look it up and its not invluded in any rom, we don't have gingerbread on this phone yet. Darky and Dics rom are pretty much the most used rom botb are really easy to configure, darky uses an app from the market and Docs is a web based kitchen. Lagfixes come in kernels, both darky and Doc let you choose the one you want Harcore Speddmode and Supercurio's Voodoo Kernel are the most used but don't let you OC your phone.

zimmbi & GOTFrogqc thank you for your reply.
GOTFrogqc; your reply was really helpfull.
so tell me if there is no gingerbread for sgs gt i9000.then which os should i get for my phone.i want gingerbread please.....
try darky
from my experience, darky rom resemble Gingerbread the most. Compare to other ROM, most additional "features" of Darky ROM were the modifications everywhere (Theme/Icon/Config) to make it resemble as much as possible to the Nexus Ging! I remember a moment Darky changed the boot animation to the one of Nexus S and made it as "feature", then he changed the fingerprint of the phone config to 2.3 and made me beleive that my SGS was Ginger LOL! but it's all over! he's listen to his user, and constantly improve his rom right now. I always think the last stable version of Darky ROM is one of the best rom, and I recommend it for someone who like the taste of Ginger (just theme). And I'm looking forward to taste the official Darky ROM 9.3 with JS5.
As for now, I recommend latest Kitchen DOC/Stef + latest SpeedMod 250Hz + R64 theme (plus Go Laucher Ex + AppOrganizer if you have 313 apps as mine ^^!). No need to lagfix (because there is no more lag to fix ^^) except if you want a higer quandrant (which means nothing).
I do NOT recommend any OC-UV kernel. It fry my phone, give me headache to config the Voltage, the smothness improvement often is not noticiable, but the battery usually drain faster. I think its the reason why hardcore never add OC-UV feature to his kernel (Yes, I think he is very capable to do that)
Thanks for Doc Stef Hardcore R64... to make my phone beautiful and fast.
i would personally recommend darkys rom. I only took the move to install a custom just over a month ago and now my phone is working the way it should be - smooth and fast. if its your first time i would recommend installing his 9.2 resurrection rom - there is an easy to follow guide on how to install it from the main page

+1 for darkys
I've heard a lot of good things about Darky.
I personally use seeArm's Custom ROM because it uses the JL2 modem which I need for the 850Mhz band. I may eventually try to flash with Darky and then write the JL2 modem on top of it, but that's a bit more risky so i'll try it later when i have more time.
Rom Kitchin build your own rom .

As I'm experiencing major battery drainage even after calibrating the battery on my i9000 using Darky 10.1 Extreme Edition (DarkCore 2.4, JVO baseband), I decided to go with MIUI 3.0.
I'm kinda a noob when it comes to flashing, so I have one question.
Is there any difference between flashing MIUI from the stock ROM and flashing from Darky 10.1EE.
I don't want to brick my device (yet ) so any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I surf about 45mins on HSDPA, play games for 45mins, surf 45mins on WiFi, auto brightness. I expect the battery to last at least 20 hours.
If you want to flash Galnet MIUI V3 you have to follow the steps from this manual: http://www.galnet.co.uk/miui/MIUI-MANUAL.pdf
Yeah, I know, but does it matter that I'm flashing from Darky?
It doesen't matter because you will downgrade your rom via odin when you flash froyo from the manual. Just follow the exact steps and you will not encounter any problems.
Ok, thanks.

Hi...
I've only made a couple posts on the forum...
Updated my phone a while ago using the xda developers and had great success but reading through the lastest posts, im a bit confused and lost as to the best available updates...
I'm currently running an update from keis...
Firmware 2.3.3
Baseband I9000XXJVO
kernel 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVO-CL82937
build Gingerbread.XXJVO
My main desires would be a new rom with root, a lagfix (there are so many?) and a battery lifes mod of some sort (never used these...)...
Has anyone got any advise / recomdendations??
I'm a bit of a lamen, and no programmer, but I'm confident to flash and use odin etc....
Thanks in advance
i recommend juwe's smart edition 5.3, it has ram script, excellent battery life. it is a complete rom. if you have any other questions post them on my thread "Ask me anything, i have the answer" ,it should among the top
Jetpack is new, clean, professional, fast, smooth and battery efficient so if you want try it!

kernel: galaxian

Darky's 10.2 extreme edition with darkcore kernel and voodoo sound and lag fix. Full flash tutorial is on the darky thread, fast stable and decent battery life. Everybody had their own personal favourites, read up on the roms and pick what suits you best. This is on a gb 2.3.4 base
You can use Martux rom.
Its a good one for starters. Download base JVR from here - Matroux Rom Flash it via Odin. Clear instructions are given there. Then flash any JVR kernel preferably semaphore 1.5 via odin. Then copy Martux Rom to ur sd card and flash via CWM.
It's only about what you prefer.
Myself am flashing a new ROM each day just to try them out.
I think I'll keep Hybrid.
There is full hebrew language in the rom?
Also, someone that already work with this rom can tell me please how the rom terms to speed, how the battery life is, there is bugs or stucks?
Thanks for helpers
There is only English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
It's a very fast ROM and I haven't experienced any bugs so far. If I don't use my phone much the battery lasts for about 3 days, otherwise about 2 days.

I have more questions:
1) If i will install the rom, what is it the best kernel to install with the rom?
2) There is expected to come out new version soon for the rom or should I install the correct version of the rom?

1) I use MNICS because the battery life is very good. If you want a really fast kernel I would suggest Semaphore.
2) I don't know when the new version is coming out. It's up to the developer. You can install the current version and install the new version when it comes out.
a very good rom,the snappiest i have seen so far.a very good battery life with glitch kernel even with OC to 1.2
Hi guys!
Was searching for some info about switching from DarkyRom to ICS. Found out the Slim ICS is the most suitable. Found this topic. I have a noob question. Installing Darky was always easy for me, but this one needs some preparations.
So: "Download a latest CM9 ROM, My latest Base and YOUR device essentials."
Where do I get the CM9 rom? It's new to me. I am on 2.3.6 DarkyRom 10.4.2 (2.3.6).

Here's where you can get the latest CM9:
http://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd
Here's the thread for the CM9 nightlies.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592131
CM9 is the ICS version of CyanogenMod. The update from Gingerbread to ICS is a bit more complicated than just jumping around between ICS ROMS, so it looks like Arvind is recommending you make the jump to CM (a big community project with lots of support) and then switch from there to his ROM.
Thanks, I figured it out, but I have a huuuge problem. My IMEI changed. It is something like 04999... I have no backups. Flashing Darky was sooo easy. I have a nice working Slim ICS but with no service... Crap, will try to revert to stock, but I feel it won't help...
Hi lads!
Reverted back to stock rom JVT and vuala, my imei is back! Did a full ODIN flash with repartition as explained in Totallydubbed's guide on his wesite...
Hi there,
I'm a proud owner of a galaxy ace and i found the vodafone stock rom too boring, slow, and the battery only lasts 1 day, so i've installed one 2.3.6 that i've found on sam firmwares website and it looks the same stock rom but i dont know why, the battery starts lasting 3-4 days |). However i was curious about cyanogenmod and i've installed the 7.2 nightly (last version), but the battery only lasts half a day-1 maximum, and i dont like the sms, phone and contacts app.
So i'm thinking about install the cyanogen 7.2 stable version or searching a new ROM, but as i dont know any other reliable, efficient, stable, without bugs and with a modern theme like ics. Can someone help me please?
PS: The ROM must have portuguese language support.
Thanks,
Best regards,

Thanks a lot for your help!!
I've decide that i've gonna try the radonmod 2.5 fat, and if i dont like i'll go to the cm7.2 stable and if the battery problem remains, i'll go for the vodafone 2.3.6 S5830XWKT6. I've a doubt. I've installed the last ROM once with odin, can i install it by cwm?
Stock firmwares with odin, this will be your baseband.
Custom with cwm, some require a specific baseband, which is mentioned in the rom's thread, otherwise any baseband will do.

Choose among these:
Stocklite V7 - latest Vesion - few bugs
Adrenaline Final - almost no more bugs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538245)
Myth V2
Only Stock based roms can help u with extended battery life.
