so is there any honeycomb port available for galaxy s by chance?
Nope not yet and i dont think they will be.
honeycomb is for tablets and i dont think it would work well on a phone.
however there are some honeycomb themes and apps for the SGS, so perhaps you could try them out...
Probability is if SGS gets another major update it will be to Ice Cream as the path appears to have forked .
Will SGS get the Ice Cream update is a complete unknown for the present .

yea i know it's for tablets but ive heard there are some ways to get honeycomb on some phones..... i dont know how serious it was though, anyways but i think galaxy s must get the ice cream, or ill never buy a samsung ever again lol

We could probably port windows ce onto a galaxy...or windows 7...maybe fortran....but why?
Ability is not the issue...sanity is.
And even if Samsung never releases ICS to galaxy s, I can bet that CyanogenMod 8 will be based on it

The current cm7 beta for sgs will be a release candidate soon, then sgs will be officially supported by the cyanogen team. The sgsteam has done a fantastic job clearing issues.

Hey all here.
I`ve seen this post and i wonder if somebody can port this version of gmail to our GT. I like the new version. It has greate improovements.

Doesn't work like that. You need the honeycomb framework.

Specifically, most of the Honeycomb apps require support for what Google calls fragments, so without API support for these it would be impossible to get these up and running on earlier version of the OS.

You might want to keep an eye on the HC developing forum, soon you might be able to port the whole thing

Ported to Vibrant but same issues are present. awesome that it is available to play with though. I'm exicited now.. Gonna be testing a bunch of stuff over the next little while.
Used the vibrant modems and boot from LE-5.1 from Miui..
EDIT** VIBRANT DEVS ONLY http://www.multiupload.com/W3IAL52ICH
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS RELEASE ALL I DID WAS REPLACE MODEM.BIN and BOOT.
FLASHED AND WORKED BUT SAME ISSUES REMAIN PRESENT.
Original Post from i9000 thread.
Please note the version posted will be a proof of concept version, and IS NOT for daily usage nor for people unknown to flashing etc.
It is being posted for development purposes only, however Lttldvl and I wish for this to be an open community, and which for other developers to help fix the issues that are still present.
The rom DOES NOT currently get passed the lockscreen, as touch sensors and screen resolution need fixed.
Edit: using 2 fingers or back key and menu key will get you past lockscreen.
This is a product of open source, let's see what WE CAN ALL DO with it..!
How to flash:
Exactly the same process as MIUI or CM7

Yep, freakin awesome ****
please let there be a stable port that is more stable than current gb ports (if thats even possible)!
True, but it is interesting.. Since it was posted in i9000 forum I thought I would send it over here since I was really excited.. I think something can be done as far as fixes.. I will keep watching the other thread and update this one as updates come out for the i9000.
Soon we will have ICS for Vibrant! It Is Possible!!
Yeah, good find, man.. hopefully a talented dev can look into it more for us Vibrant users.
By the way, here's the i9000 thread link for people that want to read more about it; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324556

Where is the peoples wotrking on this? The l9000 thred is way more poppin
I believe that there are more I9000 users than T959, so maybe we should wait for a functional ROM for I9000 to start working on a ROM to our Vibrants

As far as I know, no. However, when CM7 is finished, MIUI is easy to port. MIUI is actually why I'm most excited about CM7
So cm7 got updated very few things left to fix. Now that brings us back to miui is anyone going to try to port it now.

The cm7 build is directly related to miui afaik. Isn't miui basically built off cm? Maybe once cm is done a miui port will come out.

If it weren't for the poor customer service at bell I wouldn't have had this phone a week after I bought it. I'm considering bringing that up with one of their supervisors and pushing for a galaxy s2 since they're just so easy to mod. so any new news on this i saw the dx2 got a miui port so that may help us(hopefull).

I think it could be possible if we get the source, and compile it with smartguy's kernal, we could get a build up and running, or maybe a version of CM6, just saying, I'm a fan of it and honeycomb eventhough it's slow.

There was no separate honeycomb source. It was merged into ICS source with comments. Honeycomb was tablet only ui. ICS combined tablet and phone ui. If you want
to try native tablet ui (not just launcher) try pacman rom. It has tablet ui for gapps.
Cm 6 was based on froyo and has less features than gingerbread. Ginger bread improved android a lot and made it modern and compititive mobile os. It improved memory management and newer apis. That is why many applications are 2.3 + Please Google if you want more details.
Windows phone is closed source os and legally requires license run on phone. That is why you will not see ports here on xda on non windows phone. On the other hand android being open source can you run on windows phone e.g. HTC HD 2.
Assuming you have been here for while and seeing your posts on porting and building from source I can only hope that op wasn't for trolling.

If you like the look of Froyo, you could install the cm7 port i saw somewhere around here, and install this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014773 apparently it makes cm7 look just like Froyo.

Theres no point of actually running froyo on honeycomb, just use a theme
Froyo just seems worthless sorry but it just does. Honeycomb actually could be possible. Honeycomb did have a phone ui. But who would actually go through all the effort?

I meant the fact that you said PA Devs. We dont have a PA dev for our device and we won't get any because developing jellybean for our legacy device is quite a bit more work than those other devices that support ion natively (Ion is something related to the kernel). And PACman isnt really a PA port Its PACman. Something entirely different. Next level? Possibly

it's not halo, it's a kind of add-on for it. It make an application be persistent in halo so you can launch it anywhere.
Anyway I managed to install it and it works but the app is in the notification bar instead of the halo.
