need help plz

ok planning on buying a samsung galaxy s but it wont have market app and i cant even use it in my location
i have been googling around alot in the last day for a solution
so there is an app called apk installer which allows android phones to install apps from the sd card
now since i dont have the market app and there fore cant get the app the normal way
and i cant install it from a sd card cuz thats the point of the app in the first place
so is there a custom firmware that comes with this program installed or can i somehow manage to install it on my device so i can later just get the apps i want from the internet to my sd card and install them
plz help me out so i know wheather to buy the phone or not

You saying that the Galaxy S does not come with the "market" app is kinda surprising to me. I haven't seen a single report of any Galaxy S across the world without that application on it.
As for your other query, you can side-load applications using app installers as long as you get the apk's on the SD Card. But most applications will be available off the market directly.
Now I am not sure how the market app is not available on the Galaxy S, but you might try another similar application called "appbrain" (www.appbrain.com). However, how you can get that application installed on your phone would still be a mystery seeing that appbrain has to be installed using the market app.
Have you tried visiting a dealer and seeing a demo unit? That might help solve your predicament.

In the middle east, they wont, and the african region rom doesn't seem to (probably because it's illegal to export to some middle eastern countries).
You could try flashing to another region.. But, not sure how it affects your warranty..

ok once u get that app use thier file managersearch slidme app installer and use it
and tell me if u manage to install .apk files from ur sd card using the slideme app installer

also tried an actuall galaxy s at samsung retailer there was no market app
(when i tried it i was gonna buy it if it was working)
but the 3 bottons in the front were broken didnt light or respond so if i go in a menu i cant go back and have to restart luckily this gices me a couple of days to decide
so please try this methode for me

Just flash rom to euro one and maybe install market fix

i cant probably use the market app even if i had it
cuz if i try to open pc edition of it i cant do it with out a proxy so this will be the case for a rom with the app unless the market fix disables the location detection or something that doesnt let the google know where i am
so best bet for now is for someone to test slideme.org appinstaller for me and tell me if it works on galaxy s and if they can download the sam3 client from the web browser

[Q] Darkys 9.3 and Kies?

Hey guys,
its me again .
I have a simple question maybe anyone knows bout it.
First of all, like always i searched like ****.
I have the darkyS v9.3 and a speedmodkernel.
Now i tried to get my Samsung i9000, work with Kies 2.0.
But in the uper Corner, its just trying to get Connection, i let it search about 10min now.
When i do it on with just USB its connecting imediately.

Kies is **** mate so don't worry about it. Kies connects for me on Darkys 9.3 rom

Kies its a known problem and i never found an actual workaround bar a different computer .
However its no loss as you can do everything without Kies and the only reason for Kies is the genuine firmware update route and you have locked yourself out of that with non genuine rom anyway .

Export your contacts to the external sd card or sync them with Gmail.
Now delete Kies as its ****!

Hi all, I have used the kitchen and upgraded to JS8 with JPY and hardcores and everythings gone well, ive also done a factory wipe and reinstalled my apps using titanium backup all good, now the question
I sync my contacts and address book with outlook through kies but i cannat get kies to find my phone, I have checked that debugging is off, and i have ticked ask when connect usb, which it does do, but i dont get the kies screen on my phone and kies does not find it, so, how do i get kies working or can I sync with outlook some other way, thanks

can anyone help please

AFAIK, you must have touchwiz set as default launcher to synchronize with kies.

im only using touchwiz, havent got any others on here, any more ideas please i really dont want to have to put all my contacts and calender entries in by hand

Did you check the mtp application in the kitchen? I'm guessing not, just create an update zip from the kitchen with it in.

Sync your outlook with googlemail, then back your phone up from Google. Use media player for everything else, xda for roms, bye bye kies

[Q] custom jelly beans don't read contacts from sim

i have flashed custom rom of jelly beans on my p970 but its problem is that no contacts displayed from sim card even if i choose import from sim...it says no contact
im sure they are present and try from other mobile to be sure
plz help me

If your phone is plugged into usb it wont read the sd card.

He said SIM card, not SD card.
Try installing a GB ROM again And see if it is working, then sync your contacts with your Google account, then go back to JB and pull your contacts from your Google account.

[Q] Kies not converting spb to vcf

Since the phone is rooted i cant restore using kies.. i read on the forum you could save as vcf and then import on the phone, the problem is when i select so, it just doesnt save.. Even after i press Save...
I have alot of contacts... arround 300.. is there any other solution?

Having the exact same problem, Kies doesn't save anything at all, no matter what file type.

New version has a problem
hey guys, I have been pulling my hair out due to this problem by Kies. A quick fix for me was to download an older version that worked from here "http://tinyurl.com/mzebs74". 2.5.x worked. Good luck to all who have gotten mad over this problem

Thanks guys, I've used the software edition "Samsung Kies 2.5.2.13021_10" and it really worked. If you're using Windows 8, run the program in compatibility mode since some older versions don't support that.
