My situation is like this:
- rooted and clockworkmod via Unrevoked.
- made Nandoid backup of original ROM.
- flashed WildpuzzleRom.
- flashed CyanogenMod RC.
- did all the wipes and restored Nandroid backup of original ROM.
Will I be able to install official HTC Sense Froyo when it comes out OTA in this setup?

From all the responses I have received on the same question I think so. Remember, this will unroot too!
you can download the update manualy when it will be available, use this tool FOTA Fetcher

Hi my current mobile state is
Code:
Firmware version : 2.3.4
Baseband version : i897uckh3
kernel version : 2.6.35.7-i897uckh3-CL461307
I want to install clockwork recovery and make nandroid backup of what I already have and then try some cool ROMS around here to find which suits my taste .
Problem is where should I begin from here ??
start by reading the new user guide in my sig.use that info to learn what stickies are and why no one will give you a better answer.
You are SOL. KH3 doesn't have Nandroid back up working. Only 1 kernel actually has CWM and thats Boog's KH3 kernel.
I have a Captivate running Helly Bean's latest version of Jelly Bean, 4.1.1. I have an identical Captivate still running Eclair 2.1, rooted, with clockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.2.
Can I take the Nandroid backup from the Jelly Bean Captivate and restore it to the Eclair Captivate or must I first Odin back to stock Gingerbread with Bootloader and go from there?
You'll have to have the same Jelly Bean setup on the new phone as the previous phone to get the nandroid backup to take. For example, on my wife's phone, she did a nandroid backup of her Firefly setup prior to getting it exchanged for warranty service, and when she got the new one, we flashed the Firefly base rom to it and restored the nandroid backup.
Hi all, couldn't see any obvious noob guides any where... Maybe cause I am on phone not web...
But a friend is having lots of slow downs and fc on his stock Rom and wondered about cm9 or cm10 - can anyone suggest links for a newbie guide on...
1) rooting and/or flashing the custom Rom
2) reverting to stock if need be
I know more about HTC than Samsung so my answer for 2 would be flash an RUU. Don't know if that exists in the Samsung world.

Samsung is even easier.
He can follow every step in flashing a CM9/10 ROM on Cyanogenmod wiki. Here
Flashing other ROMs is depending on the ROM most are just flashable from recovery (CWM) that can be available after flashing a CF-Root with ODIN. To enter CWM you should press the combo when device is off (Power button, Volume up and home button til SAMSUNG logo appears.
Here is a nice step-by-step guide with links to all the needed files as well.
Flashing tutorial for dummies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
Reverting to stock is quite simple, just search for the files needed to flash the stock ROM. You'll need a .tar file and a .pit file of the correct Samsung ROM. These can be flashed using ODIN and the phones download mode(similar to recovery mode).
Remember that the stock ROM is dependent of your country and sometimes even the provider. If you use the correct version even Samsung wont be able to tell you ever had a different ROM installed.
Thanks guys
