new Streak 7 already had the ota update to 2.2.2 so only way to flash custom ROMs is getting Clockwork recovery mod onto streak through fastboot. My problem is that I can't get the drivers to install. They error out everytime during installation.
Anyone have any ideas? Running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Tried installing 64bit drivers and I get an error, tried installing 32bit drivers and it says I need to install the 64bit drivers. Been working on this for a couple of hours this morning...

Are you using the Drivers from the SDCard? YOu need to make sure you use the drivers you will find in the internal SDCard and go to Device Manager and update the drivers once you copy this folder to your computer
tried using the drivers from the zip file on the internal sd.
After searching driver issues for android, found that installing pdanet on your computer apparently will find good drivers for you.
Trying it out now and will post an update.
thanks for the suggestions.
edit: still no luck. tried several work arounds. bottom line is that the device drivers that come on the internal sd will not install on my win7 64bit machine. guess its time to call dell.
ok, after spending all day on this crap, I was able to get some generic google drivers to work, based on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11929063&postcount=23
I followed the instructions and came up with an edited drivers folder (zipped) that can be used so you can connect to your computer in fastboot:
http://www.mediafire.com/?2waq93ve6po7h
maybe this will help someone else who can't get the dell drivers to install.
My bad I was in the wrong section

Yes, I have searched... ALL OVER!
I have the new 1.6 sdk installed. I'm running the Cyanogen 4.1.999 ROM Donut/1.6. I have adb working. But, I can NOT get fastboot to recognize my device.
I have tried the following:
I have uninstalled the mass storage device - problem here is that Windows automatically installs the drivers again and I CAN'T stop it!
I have gone into the device manager/mass storage device and instructed it to update the drivers using the new 1.6 sdk. The message I received was that I was using the most up to date drivers.
I have found additional tips to solve this problem if I was running Linux. But, I can't find anything I haven't tried for Windows 64-bit....
You even title your question Q and don't post in the Q&A section?
Sorry, I didn't realize I was still in the Android Dev section when I started the thread. I was in a hurry.
If a Moderator will please move this to the Q&A section!
you are running fastboot from the SPL arent you...if not you need to boot up with (Cam+Power)
you need the engineering spl, hardspl, or haykuro spl for fastboot. you also need to make sure fastboot is active on the phone (make sure it says fastboot on it in the bootloader. if not, press the back button)
Yes, sir done all of the above. ADB works great. Boot into spl - shows Fastboot USB. I just get "waiting for device" in the command window. This should be a windows setting, driver install process, or something that either I am missing, doing wrong, or that I don't have installed. But, I have attempted everything I can find on the net. I worked at it for about three hours the other night. The wife was pissed b/c I was on the computer for so long.
Well is fastboot devices showing up under device manager?
it is most likely a driver error. note that if you have haykuro's spl, he has different drivers for it. you will need to get them from his google code page
ok I'm trying to get the PSGroove so what is fastboot? An app? Please explain

If you cannot get the sdk usb drivers to work for you when your entering into fastboot, try installing htc sync. It has additional drivers that may work. I have attached a driver pack that i use.
Hi
I wanted to install the GOT 2.2 on my Milestone, but I've got a problem. I boot my phone in recovery, connect it to my PC, but my PC can't find the drivers. I've installed the driver package from the Motorola site, but still no luck. My phone comes up as "A853". My PC is running Windows Vista 32-bit.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I try to install newest custom rom supernova 4 infinity and message is above:

now my phone is bricked (Expensive stone) because my usb debugging is off and the odin do not recornize my captivate in downloading mode!!
What i can do now? How i fix debugging ON that i can flash my phone again to stock etc..
USB debugging has nothing to do with it.
you need to get ODIN to recognize your phone. sounds like driver problems
I install odin drivers for captivate 32bit and my windows 7 don't recognize my phone, also odin do not recognize.. i test Downloading Mode.. Is usb debugging off or on with Downloading Mode?
also sdk manager installed with google samsung drivers..
Anybody else that having this recognize issues with windows 7? what to do that recognize are working
In CWM, check to see if you have the option to Root. If you do, apply Root and try flashing the rom again.
I had similar issues with 2 roms with similar errors and I had to apply root in CWM and re-flash and it went trough fine.

USB DEBUGGING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DOWNLOAD MODE!
usb debugging only has an effect if you are ALREADY booted or currently BOOTING beyond the splash screen. it doesnt matter for download mode...period.

this is one of the most ridiculous things i have read today. root also only applies to the OS....from within recovery or download mode, you arent in the OS...so root doesnt mean SH** within recovery

Don't be a dip****,. I was stating my experience.
From stock 2.1 I could not install Continuum v4 in recovery and got a similar error for E:/
I had to flash a SpeedMod based kernel in recovery and root first before the rom would go all the way trough to flash properly!
It only happens to certain roms...other roms can just flash in recovery from stock no problem without rooting first.

This statement thus proves you have no idea what you are talking about. When you understand how a Rom flash works, then you can come back to the discussion. In the meantime, try reading an update-script or 2

You said that you installed the 32 bit drivers for windows 7? Unless you are running a netbook or installed Win 7 on an older computer you probably need the 64 bit drivers. Most newer laptops these days are 64 bit OS. You can check by right clicking on "my computer" and selecting properties. It will say whether you are running 32 or 64 bit.
I also recommend downloading kies (samsung sync software). You can get it off the Samsung website under downloads. Once it's installed and opened, under tools, you can select install drivers. Go through that process and then close kies (make sure it isn't still running in your system tray), open odin and try to connect in download mode again. Don't forget basic troubleshooting like trying a different USB port if the first one doesn't work the first time.......
I can't seem to install Honeystreak on a DS7. I was able to root the it with GingerBreak and have Superuser.
I've downloaded Honeystreak, placed it in fastboot, my Win7 x64 system sees it but won't load the driver that came with it. I tried a Win XP system with the same results so I found that PDA Net had the driver so I got it from there.
Device Manager now sees it but when I run Download.bat I receive the message that the USB Device is not found.
Thanks in advance.
Bob
Perhaps you should read the post more clearly. Do not put it in fastboot... you have to hold both volume buttons down while plugging it in. Puts it in a different mode (ATX or something like that) then you can install HOneystreak... BTW, you don't have to be rooted to install Honeystreak.
Well that's embarrassing. You are correct, that resolved the issue and have it installed.
Thanks for your reply, I was way over thinking this.

Hi all.
I started experiencing weird problems with my Ativ S, so I thought I do a hard reset and start clean. I got stuck to a known issue with the Ativ and GDR3, where after hard reset the apps wont instal from the store. The only solution I saw was to flash the device. I have the GDR2 rom so I thought no problem, however I cant get the drivers to instal on the download mode so I could start the flash process.
I have tried to instal 2 different drivers: SamsungUSBDriver.msi and I8750_Qualcomm_USB_composite_driver_HK11-VB717-38.zip Neither of these (that I found, if they are the correct packages) have worked so that the Ativ is recognized correctly in the download mode and I could start flash. When Ativ is connected in the download mode, its only seen as USB DOWNLOADER with exclamation point at device manager.
Im running 64bit Windows 8.1 Pro system.
Any suggestions are welcomed! Thanks!
And installing SamsungUSBDriver.msi results in an error pictured here. Although next time trying to instal the driver is present as it gives an repair option.
Ok so I found this, probably somthing that could be expected: 2. Install Driver on your PC (i had problems with win 8.1 X64, win7 X64 installation fine)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391138
So I would need a Win7 system, no idea where I would have one... Other suggestions for this?
Ok problem solved by installing Windows 7 to a empty drive just for this flashing. Luckily I didnt have to instal any updates, just the os and the usb driver.
