It seems a lot of people are wondering about this so below are some screenshots of standby battery life on CM7 Nightly 74.
Note that this is using the .29 kernel, not the .32 beta versions. I'm also running the modified ext4 1300 kernel set to 300/1200 ondemand.

Battery Graph zoomed out all the way, and CPU Spy info.
Results:
10:42pm: 90%
9:02am: 87%
Total: 3% drop in 10 hr 20 min
This results in almost 3.5 hours per 1% or 0.29% per hour
This is already a pretty amazing boost from previous versions, and from my reading, fairly comparable to the battery life on the .32 beta builds. (Correct me if I am wrong .32 users?) This is due to Dalingrin fixing (removing) the speaker buzz while the screen is off.
And if anyone wants to flash this, the method I used was as follows:
Install ROM Manager from the Market and use it to flash the 3.0.2.8 Recovery
Download to SD card:
Latest CM7 Nightly ROM (Still on .29 Kernel)
Google Apps
Modified Overclock Kernel (The standard 0424 one won't work)
Reboot into recovery
Backup ROM
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Flash the above three files (kernel optional)
Reboot
Enjoy
Hope this helps others out there
Thanks for this. Are these results based on the 8th of may stable, or a nightly?

I can confirm this. I moved from the 3.1beta to the 75 nightly and I think the nightly actually has better battery performance. Went to sleep at 95%, 8 hours later it was still 95%.

Wow, how are you getting the above output?
Thanks for the confirmation. Yes, from my reading of other people's results, the beta .32 version has battery life that is almost the same, negligibly better, or even worse than the .29 nightlies.

The data comes from battery monitor widget's log file. The log file goes way back so I went and had a look, the nightly is using less battery than stock rooted. I guess deep sleep is no big deal then

Ah thanks. I'll check that app out.
Yeah, running nightly 74 has been rock solid so far, both on my NC and my GF's, Netflix, YouTube, Flash and all.

sorry Paul I should have read your post better.....it was early in te morning I think.
So 74 has no dramas?
I'm currently trying to flash the latest nightly using Pauls instructions above. I'm running the 1.2 bootloader and can't seem to get it to flash correctly. The device boots through Read Forever and then hangs on the android text screen every time. I'm doing a full wipe each time and can't seem to get it to boot up. Any ideas?

Hmmm, i was at 68 before i switch to beta 3.1 .
Didn't face most of the issue reported except the wifi. I like 3.1 due to the fact that i need not to OC to run app smoothly.
Maybe i should switch back to nightly again to test it out.
Has the USB issue settled? or i still need the Nook UMS program
Edit: There's also a little bar that stays solid in the upper right hand corner after the android text. The nook will just stay here doing nothing until a force power off. Just trying to give as much info as possible.

Hmm, weird. I didn't upgrade my bootloader, so maybe that is the issue
[Edit]: Yeah, someone else having the same issue (link). A few posts down someone says Nightly 75 worked with the 1.2 uboot, so try that.

Well, I meant that it's not WAY better battery life. If it is better, it's only barely better, and not worth it for most people to upgrade especially if they don't know what they're doing.
I think it's an issue with nightly 77. I was able to flash n74 with the modified kernel with no issues. Is it possible that n77 is incompatible with the ext4 kernel? I can't imagine this is the case but I can't think of anything else.

I had a similar issue with trying to flash nightly76 yesterday. It kept giving me the one small vertical line at the top right of the display. Flashed nightly74 and it worked flawlessly.
Hmm, I guess I got lucky in choosing to flash 74
Rather than start a new thread, I might as well ask here...How is the battery life of nightly 74 compared to nookie froyo? Also do you have to flash the new u boot with this, or can I just wipe, flash nightly 74, gapps, and an OC kernal? Can I also assume that this can locate you via wifi? One of my gripes with NF, otherwise it would be a keeper.

Personally I haven't used FroYo on my NC.
No uboot upgrade needed for Nightly 74, but it looks like you do need it for Nightly 75 and over (reading the latest responses in the CM7 General Discussion thread).
And yes, Google Maps etc via Wifi works fine I'm using it right now and it says accurate to 20 meters.
Bluetooth working the 74 build?
So for Phiremod users, only way is to come up with a newer version?
Nightly 75 + rename Phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk GREAT improvement in battery life. All seems to work, except About, Telephone status.
Much better than phiremod 6.2. Perfect with this changes. 100% recommended to all.

Just so people know, this kernel will stay @ 800mhz or less most of the time, you have to actually put load on the cpu for it to clock up (benchs, gaming, etc)
I'm going to try flashing this as soon as I disable voodoo. I'm running trigger 3.0.1 so it's a 2.2 kb5 based ROM. A couple of questions... Will there be a voodoo enabled version of this once it's been tested? What would you need from testers?
Lock up during boot with Trigger. I even odined back to stock, reinstalled trigger and flashed your kernel on top before reboot and got the same result. Any suggestions? What ROM are you using?
Just flashed now - running at 1.4ghz w/ setcpu set to conservative with a screen off profile @ 800 max conservative. Ran Quadrant - only getting 1150 (I know, Quadrant isn't a perfect benchmark), I'll report back with more. I will say the browser was loading up pretty fast though.
Edit - First Nenamark run @ 41fps

You flashed trigger, then the kernel while still in recovery? You shouldn't flash the kernel right away, let trigger boot up and sit, then flash the kernel. Might be your problem.

will this kernel work on 2.2.1? if so i will test
1. Yes there will b a voodoo version with bln,etc and a beta or two more for when I add a few new features
2. I'm running a beta of my DragonMOD rom I'm working on
3. All I need from u guys is what speed u end up stable @, u can run games, benchs, etc. to determine stability. I can only reach 1.3, I had to set a profile in setcpu that puts it @ 1ghz on boot then clock up from there till freezing.
I have only tested on 2.2, 2.2.1 will probably have issues. If u run 2.2.1 & it didn't work then that might b the problem and ill need to add support for 2.2.1

Hmm... Good to know. I've done on a few ROMs with overstock as my kernel and had no issues. Time to go back to stock and try again! Is it better to let stock sit for the requisite 15 minutes before flashing or is it safe to just go right out of the gate?
And nobody coimplained when my name got jacked

Just before u start saying someone "jacked" a name, slow down and reword it dude. Thats offensive and this is a test, it's going to b an entire ROM not just kernel. The name is based on DBZ. My TOXIC got "jacked" and first thing that popped into my has was DragonMOD as I was watching dragonballz.

Ok..i remember reading something a while back about a DoW kernel that was screwing up phones because of the overclock...
this isnt going to happen with this kernel is it?
and also have seen the 1.48ghz kernel floating around...i guess that hasnt fried any phones either?
any input?

Idk why DoW might b doing that, but with this one I cant say anything cuz its being tested. It shouldnt as the voltages arent high so not much risk there, and its really just a basic OC kernel till voltage and clock testing is finished, then i'll be adding voodoo, bln, etc.
You can take comfort and know I have been running this myself for 2 days now, I would not post something I wasnt willing to/was testing myself at the same time, so anything that happens to you will happen to me =)
Hello~
I've been using SuperAOSP 8.6 lately... And I've liked it so far...
As far as i can gather from spanish forum & my fellow forummates at XDA, developer will stop making SuperAOSP and moved on to SuperOSR (please correct me if i am wrong)...
And it was really hard to find info on SuperOSR (download sites and such), so I included google translated forum http://www.movilzona.es/foro/post34676.html#p34676
to XDA for those unfortunate to find them... >,<
RMB, I take no credit for the work! I am just a messenger...
Its developer is "superatmel" and provides support at the above link... Here's what he/she has to say...
"SuperOSR V1 S Anti Wipe for Nexus Clarification: NOT going to give any support to this rom from any forum other than this, this is it is very common that people hang on another forum and then have to be looking where has crashed in addition to the main forum and I can not meet outside requests of this kind, because I can not be everywhere."

I think SuperOSR is a rom built from a mix of AOSP & CyanogenMod sources. At least thats what i know so far, could be wrong. Just have to wait for someone with more info to elaborate on how much or whats the big difference in it.

I can say right now I've been running SuperOSR + Matr1x 5.5 CFS for ~2-4 days now and I must say I'm the happiest i've EVER been with my Nexus S. I was happy with it before so don't get me wrong, but wow... It's so smooth and 0 random reboots lock-ups or FC's... It's what should have come on the phone to begin with!

some other from my Nexy:
I was using SuperAOSP 8.2 and I upgraded to SuperOSR v1. The 2 main changes I've discovered in SuperOSR (so far...):
Android updated to 2.3.5
Ability to change Lockscreen wallpaper (like CM7)
There are probably quite a few more changes, but they are less obvious to me. My experience is the same as Quick84, I have not experienced any random reboots or FC's. The ROM is very smooth & I didn't even do a full wipe (coming from SuperAOSP). I'm using Trinity UV11 and I couldn't be happier.
I would recommend this ROM to anyone who wants the functionality of CM7, but without a lot of the bugs.

I have nothing against CM7 as I used nightlies and stable versions for a long time. I must say a few were really good, but my phone didn't like many of the them.
Personally, I have found SuperAOSP & SuperOSR to be extremely stable for daily use with great battery life (especially when using either Netarchy or Trinity kernels). Unfortunately, not everyone will have had the same experience as each of our handsets seems to react differently to certain ROMs & kernels.

The download took 2 minutes here. (The ROM download, not gapps).
I'm really curious to try this ROM but...my current combo is so fast, so smooth, so stable and with a so good battery life (Matr1x 5.5 kernel is UnderVolted -50 or more than stock voltages) that I can't be really motivated to fully wipe my system...don't know if it really worths!

I generally liked it except for the bug where you cant occasionally hear the caller speaking... kinda ruined it for me T,T

Just do a Nandroid backup. You can try this out and if it isn't as good, you can go back right to where you left off.

Putting this up for those who've been inquiring...I simply integrated bits & pieces for the legend to improve what is already an awesome rom. I take no credit for this. Doesn't hurt to hit the thanks button though if this helps .

How's this different from CM7?
2.6.35 kernel (boots by default to 768/256-interactive; max=806, min=120)
smartass & smartass2 governors
compache/swap
deodexed & zip-aligned
tweaks for deodexed rom and sd read-ahead (3072 by default)
removed rom manager & some default themes/wallpapers
moved file manager to /data/app
modified lock screen icons
flying-in menu animations
TGF's notification bar (notbar) patch integrated
What doesn't work/untested?
wifi tethering - activating them produces an error & breaks wife, in which case, a reboot is required
gps
Is this faster than CM?
can't claim that as i don't see a big jump in quad/linpack scores, though there are improvements & it does feel snappier (I may be biased though). you decide...

The drowningkernel-8-9-1_mod.zip works fine with CM7.1.0 for me. THX a lot!
I like your lockscreen-icons and the statusbar-patch, but not the flying-in-animation, so I flashed the non-modified one.
What governors do you prefer? I'm using interactive, but never had a smartass/smartass2 kernel on my phone. Does one of these two give me advantages over interactive?
Or can you give me some details about smartass/smartass2 Min-Max-values for the legend?
I have constant cpu usage of 50-75% with this rom :-(

you could learn more about it here. i'm using 806/122-smartass2. if you try to underclock below stock 245, it seems only the smartass governors give a quick response from sleep.

Just a small comment regarding kernel 2.6.35:
In my tests 2.6.35 was not significantly (or at all) faster than .32, neither could I observe improved battery life.
What actually held us back implementing .35 were the crappy WLAN and missing access point drivers. The sources HTC released are significantly broken - even for their original target "Espresso", and this is still a clear violation of the GPL (the sources they used to compile tiwlan_drv for Espresso/Legend are not at all equivalent to what they released).
That being said, if you don't care about WLAN at all you can use 2.6.35. I seriously wouldn't recommend that kernel though and would request you to add a warning to your post to make sure people don't start to complain about random reboots in CyanogenMod.
Thanks man, looks great will test it soon.

What he wants to say is that, if you deodex rom, there is more space used in system since instead of having apk+odex as separate files you put the odex inside the apk thus ocuppying more space. So for a deodexed ROM you have less space remaining.
Of course since most of us are using some sort of data2ext this is no big deal, I just wanted to "translate"

Edit : Plus my radio is up to date !
Edit Plus : I tried this rom (K.35) and official 7.1 Rom (K.32) and i found that the both kernels have the same issue, being on K32 or K35 is the same thing for me, i got the same random crashes, which was not the same thing on the old RC1 (which just sometimes crashes when you just power on wifi with sync enabled).
Too bad, Cyanogen 7.1 passed "stable" with this bug.

Hello everyone!
I am a new O2x user and I just decided to install Topogigi Rom.
I installed version 2.0 with sp1 sp2 and sp3.
Baseband 0725.
I applied Supercharger with option 6. That is Hp512 Leaded (balanced)
All went smooth and painless.
Thanks Topogigi!
My question came when performing the Quadrant standard test.
My score was of 2751.
After reading scores from other users, I feel that 2751 is quite low, as some people appear to be able to reach 3000+ with standard 1ghz clock speed.
I am wondering if I did something wrong.
My device is not overclocked as I still don´t know how to set it up for that yet.
Thanks in advance for the help!.
P.S: Tried to post on Topogigi thread but it seems I dont have permission for that.
If this can´t be asked here, please feel free to delete or move my post..
did you wiped cache while installing Service packs?
if you wiped it , you lose the tweaks topogigi made ...
Yes I am afraid I did that
I followed an external tutorial where they adviced to do it.
How can I solve this?
Should I flash again sp2 and then sp3? or do I have to flash the whole rom from the beginning?
Thanks!

Sp3 is just an update to have framework compatible with uot kitchen. Try to flash sp2 again. And before that perform at least 3 benchmark, performance is often best at third try. And remember that benchmark is just... benchmark, as long as your real user experience is good, you don't have to bother about scores. .
I flashed sp2 and now I am getting results a little bit over 3000..
My problem now is that market says that I dont have space in the device whenever I want to install an app.
Reading in Topogigi forum, people seem to solve this issue by just rebooting, but in my case it doesn´t matter how many times I reboot, the market keeps telling me the same error.
The only solution I found is to do a factory reset but that clears the cache and then I loose those tweaks made to the rom that makes it faster.
I agree with not paying much attention to benchmarks but I would like to have a fully functional rom if possible.
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.
Relating to your problem about the market, try to clear data for market in manage apilcation before you reboot next time, it worked for me
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Thanks Supupa.
I tried that but it didnt work.
Apparently the only way for me is to delete cache.
I have solved indirectly the problem when I flashed the new HP Rc4 Kernel.
I wipe the cache so that Market works and then when I flash the Kernel I get the desired benchmark results.
I am now achieving consistent 3477 results without OC and everything seems to work correctly (Market, GPS, data, etc..)
I still have to test battery life though.
One curious thing I found is that if I use the supercharge script with this Kernel, I get lower scores (around 2900).
Should I still supercharge my device?
Thanks for the help, all this is very new for me.

If your looking for high quadrant scores then dont worry about supercharging your phone if your getting low scores, though if you would like better multitasking and memory management do it (;

I understand that my ROM will sound simple and backward to many, but it is a stable and fast base for gaming, probably the fastest without OC, and with OC, it flies.......
Due to the cleanness of this ROM, it will provide exceptional battery backup too.
So do you users want a clean gaming oriented ROM or do you want your gaming to be riddled with problems and lags forever?
Feature Requests accepted, but only stuff which enhances the speed and stability, or betters gaming speed without lessening stability will be added.
Known Bugs
None
Install Procedure for best performance
You should take a nandroid backup if anything goes wrong
1. Wipe data , cache , dalvik cache (required while changing layout)
2. Format system and datadata (required while changing layout)
3. Install CyanAOSP ROM
4. Install Gapps ( for even faster ROM , install Gapps by Fishears )
I am not the creator of this rom i just ported this great rom. The thanks and support should all go to ts1506 in the i9000 thread...stop by AND SHOW HIM SOME LOVE.

Decided to try it out pretty nice, good battery and pretty quick too, only problem I ran in to is the advanced option under settings does not work, other than that everything is great.
Have been running this rom for 24hours already. It seems pretty decent, though I haven't noticed a big difference in performance coming from paranoid 2.54.
Still thank you for the port. Great work.

Thats because Paranoid 2.54 is based on Android 4.1.2 , and 4.1.2 is faster than 4.2.1 , but 4.2.2 is even faster
Also , I will start official builds for the Vibrant and Captivate , so native versions should be faster than ports.

Shutting down randomly
Before flashing this ROM, I had to use a spare USB cable since I was not able to Odin Stock2.1 using the Samsung USB cable even after innumerable attempts. I also realized that original Samsung USB cable could be responsible for both internal & SDCard giving repeated Volume errors on mounting USB storage.
Now, since I flashed this ROM, then Semaphore 2.9.12sv followed by Fishears gaps, the phone would randomly shut down.
I wanted to pinpoint the cause: rom, kernel , gapps or battery. I tried using both original & spare nokia cable, the issue persisted, so as to rule out bad Cable. Also, the phone would shutdown irrespective, of the app in question, ruling out Gapps.
Though turning phone back on would show incredibly low battery than it was before the uncalled-for-shutdown. While charging, the lock screen showed as charged even though the battery is at 70% level or at other levels way lower than 100mark.
My guess is that battery has come off age. I just want to confirm if other folks have experienced the same and could confirm this.

Though turning phone back on would show incredibly low battery than it was before the uncalled-for-shutdown. While charging, the lock screen showed as charged even though the battery is at 70% level or at other levels way lower than 100mark.
My guess is that battery has come off age. I just want to confirm if other folks have experienced the same and could confirm this.

it is very possible that it is the battery. when i had the old stock battery this happened quite often but when i got new batterys it stopped. plus my phones battery lasts a lot longer
might be the battery. I am getting excellent life from mine. =)

Ts1506 is planning on real easing 4.2.2 on Monday. He may even start native builds! Who knows!
