Quadrant score question from a new user - LG Optimus 2x

Hello everyone!
I am a new O2x user and I just decided to install Topogigi Rom.
I installed version 2.0 with sp1 sp2 and sp3.
Baseband 0725.
I applied Supercharger with option 6. That is Hp512 Leaded (balanced)
All went smooth and painless.
Thanks Topogigi!
My question came when performing the Quadrant standard test.
My score was of 2751.
After reading scores from other users, I feel that 2751 is quite low, as some people appear to be able to reach 3000+ with standard 1ghz clock speed.
I am wondering if I did something wrong.
My device is not overclocked as I still don´t know how to set it up for that yet.
Thanks in advance for the help!.
P.S: Tried to post on Topogigi thread but it seems I dont have permission for that.
If this can´t be asked here, please feel free to delete or move my post..

did you wiped cache while installing Service packs?
if you wiped it , you lose the tweaks topogigi made ...

Yes I am afraid I did that
I followed an external tutorial where they adviced to do it.
How can I solve this?
Should I flash again sp2 and then sp3? or do I have to flash the whole rom from the beginning?
Thanks!

Sp3 is just an update to have framework compatible with uot kitchen. Try to flash sp2 again. And before that perform at least 3 benchmark, performance is often best at third try. And remember that benchmark is just... benchmark, as long as your real user experience is good, you don't have to bother about scores. .

I flashed sp2 and now I am getting results a little bit over 3000..
My problem now is that market says that I dont have space in the device whenever I want to install an app.
Reading in Topogigi forum, people seem to solve this issue by just rebooting, but in my case it doesn´t matter how many times I reboot, the market keeps telling me the same error.
The only solution I found is to do a factory reset but that clears the cache and then I loose those tweaks made to the rom that makes it faster.
I agree with not paying much attention to benchmarks but I would like to have a fully functional rom if possible.
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

Relating to your problem about the market, try to clear data for market in manage apilcation before you reboot next time, it worked for me

Thanks Supupa.
I tried that but it didnt work.
Apparently the only way for me is to delete cache.
I have solved indirectly the problem when I flashed the new HP Rc4 Kernel.
I wipe the cache so that Market works and then when I flash the Kernel I get the desired benchmark results.
I am now achieving consistent 3477 results without OC and everything seems to work correctly (Market, GPS, data, etc..)
I still have to test battery life though.
One curious thing I found is that if I use the supercharge script with this Kernel, I get lower scores (around 2900).
Should I still supercharge my device?
Thanks for the help, all this is very new for me.

If your looking for high quadrant scores then dont worry about supercharging your phone if your getting low scores, though if you would like better multitasking and memory management do it (;

1. install Andrev OC Adjuster From TrymHansen, a wonderful GUI for overclok daemon http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18273457#post18273457
2. set the wake CPU clock to 1,4GHz. save & apply setting.
3. run Quadrand a few times without exiting until the scores are stable.
this is what I got using Topogigi's ROM:

Thanks guys I will try the options you suggest for overclocking my device.
So far I am very happy with my Topogigi rom, all seems to work perfect.

Just so people know, this kernel will stay @ 800mhz or less most of the time, you have to actually put load on the cpu for it to clock up (benchs, gaming, etc)
I'm going to try flashing this as soon as I disable voodoo. I'm running trigger 3.0.1 so it's a 2.2 kb5 based ROM. A couple of questions... Will there be a voodoo enabled version of this once it's been tested? What would you need from testers?
Lock up during boot with Trigger. I even odined back to stock, reinstalled trigger and flashed your kernel on top before reboot and got the same result. Any suggestions? What ROM are you using?
Just flashed now - running at 1.4ghz w/ setcpu set to conservative with a screen off profile @ 800 max conservative. Ran Quadrant - only getting 1150 (I know, Quadrant isn't a perfect benchmark), I'll report back with more. I will say the browser was loading up pretty fast though.
Edit - First Nenamark run @ 41fps

You flashed trigger, then the kernel while still in recovery? You shouldn't flash the kernel right away, let trigger boot up and sit, then flash the kernel. Might be your problem.

will this kernel work on 2.2.1? if so i will test
1. Yes there will b a voodoo version with bln,etc and a beta or two more for when I add a few new features
2. I'm running a beta of my DragonMOD rom I'm working on
3. All I need from u guys is what speed u end up stable @, u can run games, benchs, etc. to determine stability. I can only reach 1.3, I had to set a profile in setcpu that puts it @ 1ghz on boot then clock up from there till freezing.
I have only tested on 2.2, 2.2.1 will probably have issues. If u run 2.2.1 & it didn't work then that might b the problem and ill need to add support for 2.2.1

you should rename it komodo so everyone wont get it confused also.

Hmm... Good to know. I've done on a few ROMs with overstock as my kernel and had no issues. Time to go back to stock and try again! Is it better to let stock sit for the requisite 15 minutes before flashing or is it safe to just go right out of the gate?
And nobody coimplained when my name got jacked

Im just saying that people might get confused, and flash this thinking it's tt's kernel, and if there were issues, go to tt with complaints.

Just before u start saying someone "jacked" a name, slow down and reword it dude. Thats offensive and this is a test, it's going to b an entire ROM not just kernel. The name is based on DBZ. My TOXIC got "jacked" and first thing that popped into my has was DragonMOD as I was watching dragonballz.

Ok..i remember reading something a while back about a DoW kernel that was screwing up phones because of the overclock...
this isnt going to happen with this kernel is it?
and also have seen the 1.48ghz kernel floating around...i guess that hasnt fried any phones either?
any input?

Idk why DoW might b doing that, but with this one I cant say anything cuz its being tested. It shouldnt as the voltages arent high so not much risk there, and its really just a basic OC kernel till voltage and clock testing is finished, then i'll be adding voodoo, bln, etc.
You can take comfort and know I have been running this myself for 2 days now, I would not post something I wasnt willing to/was testing myself at the same time, so anything that happens to you will happen to me =)

[ROM] CM7.1-final, Deodexed, 2.6.35 kernel

Putting this up for those who've been inquiring...I simply integrated bits & pieces for the legend to improve what is already an awesome rom. I take no credit for this. Doesn't hurt to hit the thanks button though if this helps .

How's this different from CM7?
2.6.35 kernel (boots by default to 768/256-interactive; max=806, min=120)
smartass & smartass2 governors
compache/swap
deodexed & zip-aligned
tweaks for deodexed rom and sd read-ahead (3072 by default)
removed rom manager & some default themes/wallpapers
moved file manager to /data/app
modified lock screen icons
flying-in menu animations
TGF's notification bar (notbar) patch integrated
What doesn't work/untested?
wifi tethering - activating them produces an error & breaks wife, in which case, a reboot is required
gps
Is this faster than CM?
can't claim that as i don't see a big jump in quad/linpack scores, though there are improvements & it does feel snappier (I may be biased though). you decide...

Yeah digitizer is defective...it seems like it happens this after a while (1 year or so). I saw alot of people complaining about this also movies on YouTube showing the issue. I'l send it in service next week I hope
The drowningkernel-8-9-1_mod.zip works fine with CM7.1.0 for me. THX a lot!
I like your lockscreen-icons and the statusbar-patch, but not the flying-in-animation, so I flashed the non-modified one.
What governors do you prefer? I'm using interactive, but never had a smartass/smartass2 kernel on my phone. Does one of these two give me advantages over interactive?
Or can you give me some details about smartass/smartass2 Min-Max-values for the legend?
I have constant cpu usage of 50-75% with this rom :-(

you could learn more about it here. i'm using 806/122-smartass2. if you try to underclock below stock 245, it seems only the smartass governors give a quick response from sleep.

Just a small comment regarding kernel 2.6.35:
In my tests 2.6.35 was not significantly (or at all) faster than .32, neither could I observe improved battery life.
What actually held us back implementing .35 were the crappy WLAN and missing access point drivers. The sources HTC released are significantly broken - even for their original target "Espresso", and this is still a clear violation of the GPL (the sources they used to compile tiwlan_drv for Espresso/Legend are not at all equivalent to what they released).
That being said, if you don't care about WLAN at all you can use 2.6.35. I seriously wouldn't recommend that kernel though and would request you to add a warning to your post to make sure people don't start to complain about random reboots in CyanogenMod.
Thanks man, looks great will test it soon.

What he wants to say is that, if you deodex rom, there is more space used in system since instead of having apk+odex as separate files you put the odex inside the apk thus ocuppying more space. So for a deodexed ROM you have less space remaining.
Of course since most of us are using some sort of data2ext this is no big deal, I just wanted to "translate"

Huh ? This is a known issue caused by crappy Wifi drivers given by htc for Kernel .35 :

BTW Radio has nothing to do with wifi.
Edit : Plus my radio is up to date !
Edit Plus : I tried this rom (K.35) and official 7.1 Rom (K.32) and i found that the both kernels have the same issue, being on K32 or K35 is the same thing for me, i got the same random crashes, which was not the same thing on the old RC1 (which just sometimes crashes when you just power on wifi with sync enabled).
Too bad, Cyanogen 7.1 passed "stable" with this bug.

ROM / Kernel Benchmark Comparisons - **Update 2 - 06/11/12**

I had some free time on my hands yesterday and this morning and thought I would spend the time comparing the different ROM's and Kernels available for the Vivid. Not really sure what I'm trying to achieve here, other than I was curious on the results of all these. I'm going to keep testing and updating this chart and will update as I go for those of you who care to view them. Again, I did (and still doing) this just because and thought I would share.
All these tests were performed on fresh installs w/ full wipes. The latest AnTuTu Benchmark, ver. 2.8.2 was used to get results. Results are an avg. of a minimum of 2 cycles. A cycle being Full Wipe, ROM Install, Boot, Reboot Twice more, Reboot into Recovery and Flash Kernel, Reboot, Run AnTuTu.
**Initial Post**
3 ROM's w/ multiple kernels and frequency's
**Update 1**
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A13 running at 1728MHz and Kozmik RC2 running at 1728MHz & 1782MHz
--Not sure if I'll be able to provide any results beyond 1728MHz, except for the Kozmik RC2 results. Kozmik RC2 is the only kernel I've been able to run beyond 1728MHz and maintain stability, no reboots, etc. However, will keep trying and will report back if I'm able too--
**Update 2** 06/11/12
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A14 running at 1674MHz. Surprisingly, I was unable to run this at 1728MHz or higher successfully. Was very slow and kept hanging. Was able to get through 1 benchmark at 1728MHz and it only yielded a result of approx. 3400 (ouch). 2D and 3D fps were around 28.

one question, why Dark Raider ROM have very high score on SD card Write, this happen to me also, does it is a bug or its true..? score about 10x higher than the other ROM.
PS : if u have a time bro, please test again @ the same CPU speed, like 1.5 GHZ or 1.2 GHZ. i wanna know, the best combination of ROM and Kernel. thx
Honestly, I couldn't begin to tell you why the write speed is high. Perhaps some of the developers might be able to chime in on that.
Regarding the additional testing you requested, I may have something for you in the next couple of days. Life has gotten in the way again, lol. Also, now that Dark Raider development has been put on hold, I don't know how much further testing I'm going to do on that ROM beyond your request. At least until its back to being active.

I dont think so, sd card chace doesnt increase such high. Yes, DR set chace 4096 kb & Holic 1024 as default, but although set @ same level, holic still cannot match DR Value.... It must be something special on DR. But i dont know why

Long story short, this is a CM7 rom with some tweaks applied.
Feedbacks are welcome.
DISCLAIMER: This ROM comes with NO warranty. If you brick your phone, don't blame me, I'm only experimenting with my phone and sharing the results with you, mates!
The widgets in the screenshots are Fancy Widgets (clock & weather) and Android Pro Widgets (Google Reader widget). These are non-free apps and are NOT included in this ROM
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
- BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP your actual rom and your data before installing anything!!!!!!
- Your bootloader must be UNLOCKED
- I assume you have CWM recovery installed on your phone. If not, read one of the excellent tutorials on this site and install it. (Remember to choose one of the latest CWM because this is a Rom with EXT4 filesystem)
- Copy the file you have downloaded "as is" (don't try to extract the files contained in the .zip archive!) in the root directory of your SD Card.
- Boot in CWM, select "Install zip from SD Card", then choose the .zip archive you have previously copied and wait until the process ends.
- Reboot your device and enjoy your new rom.

P.S. This rom does not wipe your phone (see changelog for exceptions), but depending on the Rom you actually have on your device, you'll need to wipe /data and /cache to make things work at best. Anyway, my personal advice is to backup all your data before installing a new Rom!!!
KNOWN ISSUES:
-None so far.

BTW Topo, it seems to be a great job, what do you suggest to wipe if I come from CM7 stable? Only cache and dalvik?

Coming from cm7 you can avoid wiping /data. So, it's safe to wipe only dalvik and cache

Try cm7 official only with that kernel and you'll see that benchmarks aren't that good!
my download did not even complete, got kicked out at 35MB
Where'd you get faux's CM7 026 kernel? He hasn't posted it yet anywhere.

How about wifi in this rom? Is it stable?
I'm now on xxlq2 and although sometimes it works okay, the wifi easily got disconnected and the signal reception is really poor.. Maybe this rom is the solution?
Oh, and one thing, is it safe to flash this rom over xxlq2? I see my country use the same version with your rom so i hope flashing this that will bring the warranty back
Hi, NOD32 warns "Android / Adware" in this ROM. Is it a false alarm?
In this file: "\data\app\com.diskdefragmenter.apk = ZIP = classes.dex - una variante de Android/Adware.Leadbolt.B aplicación"

I'm not sure about WIFI, because I'm never have any problem, please feedback to me.
I think it save to flash over xxlq2 but for best result, you may be flash DXLP7 first.
Thanks.

I think you should tell in op that this rom will wipe all data include internal sdcard before someone may loss their important data.
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
Not sure if intended, but when it says it wiped everything, I didn't thought it would wipe out everything in /sdcard as well. I would have died if my Titanium backup wasn't in external sd.
Oh yes, the rom also self reboots when flashed, so don't be alarmed if you are used to rebooting yourself.
Oh well...now I suddenly have 12gb free!

You added "This ROM will wipe data on system, cache and data."
That's not clear enough.....internal sd, aka /sdcard aka the 12gb that comes with the tablet is entirely wiped as well. You need to make that crystal clear.

Trust me, if my backup wasn't on external sd, I wouldn't be speaking so kindly to you.
And we have an extremely picky bunch of people here, if you know what I mean.
Honestly, if you have an update to this, I would recommend at the very least removing that reboot on finish command.

I see, i hope this rom solve it then :highfive:
I will try to flash it as soon as i have courage then :fingers-crossed: I still wondering about if superbrick issues out there still haunteing ics roms.. As i have prob. with doing nandroid backup with my cwm..it stucks on some kind of data and not progressing...
Btw can you list all the improvement things you stuffed in your rom? I see there's etc. there, i think it will great to see all the improvement list, and much better if you screenshot things like benchmark result I wonder if you stuffed things like audio enhancement too
Thanks ParotZ :good:
Nice kid you have
I installed your ROM + Dedrak kernel + Aroma tweaks, in took a while to get rid of systemUI FCs, but now everything I use seems to be working fine
A couple of sugestions if you dont mind:
1- It would be great to start in english, most people understands, easier to change to our own language.
2- Please dont wipe in your next versions, it is a pain to do all again, even Titanium backups are wiped...
Thanks again
Singha ROM + Aroma Pimp My ROM 1.2 Full + Nova launcher = seamless, JB-like, smooth and extremely fast performance. I am very impressed. Very. You'll notice the difference, whether you come from Zeta, CM9 or CM10.
