I had some free time on my hands yesterday and this morning and thought I would spend the time comparing the different ROM's and Kernels available for the Vivid. Not really sure what I'm trying to achieve here, other than I was curious on the results of all these. I'm going to keep testing and updating this chart and will update as I go for those of you who care to view them. Again, I did (and still doing) this just because and thought I would share.
All these tests were performed on fresh installs w/ full wipes. The latest AnTuTu Benchmark, ver. 2.8.2 was used to get results. Results are an avg. of a minimum of 2 cycles. A cycle being Full Wipe, ROM Install, Boot, Reboot Twice more, Reboot into Recovery and Flash Kernel, Reboot, Run AnTuTu.
**Initial Post**
3 ROM's w/ multiple kernels and frequency's
**Update 1**
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A13 running at 1728MHz and Kozmik RC2 running at 1728MHz & 1782MHz
--Not sure if I'll be able to provide any results beyond 1728MHz, except for the Kozmik RC2 results. Kozmik RC2 is the only kernel I've been able to run beyond 1728MHz and maintain stability, no reboots, etc. However, will keep trying and will report back if I'm able too--
**Update 2** 06/11/12
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A14 running at 1674MHz. Surprisingly, I was unable to run this at 1728MHz or higher successfully. Was very slow and kept hanging. Was able to get through 1 benchmark at 1728MHz and it only yielded a result of approx. 3400 (ouch). 2D and 3D fps were around 28.

one question, why Dark Raider ROM have very high score on SD card Write, this happen to me also, does it is a bug or its true..? score about 10x higher than the other ROM.
PS : if u have a time bro, please test again @ the same CPU speed, like 1.5 GHZ or 1.2 GHZ. i wanna know, the best combination of ROM and Kernel. thx
Honestly, I couldn't begin to tell you why the write speed is high. Perhaps some of the developers might be able to chime in on that.
Regarding the additional testing you requested, I may have something for you in the next couple of days. Life has gotten in the way again, lol. Also, now that Dark Raider development has been put on hold, I don't know how much further testing I'm going to do on that ROM beyond your request. At least until its back to being active.

Maybe they changed the default sd cache size. You can do this on any rom provided you're rooted with sd booster available on the market

I dont think so, sd card chace doesnt increase such high. Yes, DR set chace 4096 kb & Holic 1024 as default, but although set @ same level, holic still cannot match DR Value.... It must be something special on DR. But i dont know why

Have you checked to see of the roms your testing on are actually initializing init.d scripts? This could potentially be a culprit if scripts aren't being run.

Hello everyone!
I am a new O2x user and I just decided to install Topogigi Rom.
I installed version 2.0 with sp1 sp2 and sp3.
Baseband 0725.
I applied Supercharger with option 6. That is Hp512 Leaded (balanced)
All went smooth and painless.
Thanks Topogigi!
My question came when performing the Quadrant standard test.
My score was of 2751.
After reading scores from other users, I feel that 2751 is quite low, as some people appear to be able to reach 3000+ with standard 1ghz clock speed.
I am wondering if I did something wrong.
My device is not overclocked as I still don´t know how to set it up for that yet.
Thanks in advance for the help!.
P.S: Tried to post on Topogigi thread but it seems I dont have permission for that.
If this can´t be asked here, please feel free to delete or move my post..
did you wiped cache while installing Service packs?
if you wiped it , you lose the tweaks topogigi made ...
Yes I am afraid I did that
I followed an external tutorial where they adviced to do it.
How can I solve this?
Should I flash again sp2 and then sp3? or do I have to flash the whole rom from the beginning?
Thanks!

Sp3 is just an update to have framework compatible with uot kitchen. Try to flash sp2 again. And before that perform at least 3 benchmark, performance is often best at third try. And remember that benchmark is just... benchmark, as long as your real user experience is good, you don't have to bother about scores. .
I flashed sp2 and now I am getting results a little bit over 3000..
My problem now is that market says that I dont have space in the device whenever I want to install an app.
Reading in Topogigi forum, people seem to solve this issue by just rebooting, but in my case it doesn´t matter how many times I reboot, the market keeps telling me the same error.
The only solution I found is to do a factory reset but that clears the cache and then I loose those tweaks made to the rom that makes it faster.
I agree with not paying much attention to benchmarks but I would like to have a fully functional rom if possible.
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.
Relating to your problem about the market, try to clear data for market in manage apilcation before you reboot next time, it worked for me

Thanks Supupa.
I tried that but it didnt work.
Apparently the only way for me is to delete cache.
I have solved indirectly the problem when I flashed the new HP Rc4 Kernel.
I wipe the cache so that Market works and then when I flash the Kernel I get the desired benchmark results.
I am now achieving consistent 3477 results without OC and everything seems to work correctly (Market, GPS, data, etc..)
I still have to test battery life though.
One curious thing I found is that if I use the supercharge script with this Kernel, I get lower scores (around 2900).
Should I still supercharge my device?
Thanks for the help, all this is very new for me.

If your looking for high quadrant scores then dont worry about supercharging your phone if your getting low scores, though if you would like better multitasking and memory management do it (;

2. set the wake CPU clock to 1,4GHz. save & apply setting.
3. run Quadrand a few times without exiting until the scores are stable.

init.d Script to load tekahuna's OMAP4 Overclock Modules
by: frostincredible
Disclaimer: You are responsible for your own device. If you do something to it then blame me, I shall laugh at you.
Requirements:
-OMAP4 Device
-tekahuna's "symsearch.ko" and "opptimizer.ko" modules
---(instructions at link in step 1)
-Rooted
-CWM (or CWM compatible recovery)
-ROM with init.d support (stock OEM ROMs do not support init.d, if on an OEM ROM go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294009)
Instructions:
1. Go here and install tekahuna's overclock modules (these are NOT included in the ZIPs found on this page, you must download them from HIS site): http://rootzwiki.com...fficial-thread/
2. Follow his instructions only up to stage 5.
3. Download the ZIP corresponding to the speed you want to run. (e.g. 1100MHz = 1.1GHz).
4. Place ZIP on SDCARD
5. Boot into CWM (or other compatible recovery, stock will NOT work).
6. Flash ZIP
7. Reboot and open a 3rd party app such as ROM Toolbox or SetCPU and move MAX slider all the way up, should be running now at speed of the ZIP you flashed.
ZIPs: (The 1.0GHz is to go back to stock)
1000MHz (1.0GHz) ----- http://dev-host.org/...0GHz-signed.zip
1100MHz (1.1GHz) ----- http://dev-host.org/...1GHz-signed.zip
1200MHz (1.2GHz) ----- http://dev-host.org/...2GHz-signed.zip
1225MHz (1.225GHz) -- http://dev-host.org/...5GHz-signed.zip
1250MHz (1.25GHz) ---- http://dev-host.org/...5GHz-signed.zip
1275MHz (1.275GHz) -- http://dev-host.org/...5GHz-signed.zip
1300MHz (1.3GHz) ----- http://dev-host.org/...3GHz-signed.zip
1400MHz (1.4GHz) ----- http://dev-host.org/...4GHz-signed.zip
1500MHz (1.5GHz) ----- http://dev-host.org/...5GHz-signed.zip
Thanks:
tekahuna for starting this idea with his Overclock modules.

Will this method of overclock reset after reboot?
Which is most stable?
Thanx for posting this find
I've tried other overclock methods and didn't quite like it because the cpu have to set to run full throttle at all times I'm order to achieve the Oc
I'd just tried a few of the zips already so here my findings
1.5 = very slow boot up, very unresponsive, hugh decrease on antutu " 2150 "
1.4 = still very slow boot up, very unresponsive but it still a little bit better than 1.5, antutu " 2475 "
1.3 = can't even boot up, it will reboot instantly so can't do any other testing
1.275 = boot up is much quicker than 1.4 & 1.5 feels almost like stock 1.0 boot up, screen is very responsive but it'll random reboot after 1-5 mins, I tried it 3x and it rebooted everytime so I guess it not stable at all
1.250 = feels like 1.275 bit much more stable, haven't run into any issues yet, no random reboot, no lag, no screen freeze, so far so good, antutu 5889
My base line antutu is 5000-5250
Haven't tried anything below 1.250 so can't write any review for it yet but as long as 1.25 is running smooth I think anything below 1.25 would be fine
The sweetest thing I like about this modd is my cpu doesn't have to be running full speed for the Oc to be effective and it'll survive reboot without any other modding
Not sure how this will affect battery life but I'll keep track of it
So far my bionic is on a manual 5.9.901 update running safestrap Eclipse 901 compatible rom with 901 lib files
Thanx again frostincredible for posting this mod
tekahuna now has beta 2 versions up that include voltage changes and an additional line to be added in terminal; do these work with those and if so how do you go about changing the voltage since that is past step 5 in his directions?
Well, I tried the 1.250 ghz and am stuck in a bootloop. awesome!
I tried the .02 newer files to system/lib/modules and do it with terminal and it didn't work
Then tried to flash the 1.250 zip and that didn't work either
So I copy back the .01 files then reflash the 1.25 zip then it worked again
I guess we need different 1.250 flash zip for .02 to work

I think 1.2 would work fine for you then since 1.25 didn't

It also drain the battery quite fast too

Luckily I had the 1.1,1.2 and 1.25 zips on my sd card so I was able to boot into clockwork and flashed the 1.2 and everything seems fine. I wouldn't have thought the extra .05 ghz would make that much of a difference, but apparently it did. I wonder if it was the uneven number doing it; I'm scared to try the 1.3 so I think I'll stay on 1.2.
When I had the original droid that was set at 600mhz I overclocked that to 1.4 ghz with no problems. Too bad this won't accept as large of an increase.
My lg revolution can go up to 1.9 that's 900 over stock
I guess its the voltage that can help alot on how high it can go
Too bad the voltage control version didn't work
Hope someone can figure that out
Hey frost incredible
Can you make new zips for the .02 versions?
Thanx
Is this overclocking both cores?
It seems that way
When I use system tuner to monitor cpu usage it shows cpu0 and cpu1
Cpu0 will run most of the time and vary from 300 - 1200
Cpu1 will run less frequently only when needed and vary from offline/inactive - 1200
If you overclock too much, the cpu will get quicker at high temperature and will force decrease the frequency. It's probably why performance is lesser when too high overclock.
the thermal policy will help not achieving thermal runaway, but if high opp is at a too high frequency, you will hardly not stay at this frequency.
quick question, once i get the opptimizer.ko and other .ko files do i need to run them through terminal?
I only ask because I just tried this and after I hit su I get superuser permission but the following commands say not valid.
Any tips?
Or do I need to just place the .ko files in the proper directory them flash the zip through recovery to get this to work?
edit: just re-read the directions and I see this should work without terminal. Just making sure before I boot loop this sucker. I'll make a full backup and report back.
---------- Post added at 06:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:33 PM ----------
Wow! Just flashed 1.25 and worked without a hitch.
Just hit 6150 on antutu benchmark!
Not bad.
I'll continue to run this to see how stable and check bat life and report back.
Then maybe try some other frequencies.
1.3 is running good on my bionic. Not a bad benchmark. Def a little more pep.

So far I've tried;
1.5 (really slow and had to reboot)
1.3 (screen freeze and reboot)
1.275 (screen freeze and reboot)
1.25 (screen freeze and reboot)
That was as of about 2 minutes ago. I'm thinking my phone doesn't want to be overclocked.
I am going to try 1.225 and if that fails 1.1 (at that point, whats the point?)
Will update...
It didn't take long,
Found that 1.225Ghz works great on my phone (like everything else each one is different). Flashed the zip, rebooted set SetCPU to 1.225, set on boot, rebooted again, Bob's your uncle and it works great!
Quadrant score went from 2300ish to 2700ish. Good by terms.
Thank you for making these things so simple!
just one issue, I was getting and intermittent sound issue after flashing 1.3 and 1.25 oc zips, my ringer, alarm and music player would not work, as in no sound from the speaker.
I flashed back to 1.0 and no problems yet today.
Maybe just a quirk on my device.
could someone please pritty please post a video of step by step on overclocking the bionic? i've tried everyway possible to my ability to o/c but still can't o/c.... thank you i would greatly appreciate it and i'm sure others would too
This Adreno GPU update is ONLY designed to work on ALL Qualcomm S3 ARM7 Devices running ICS.
Greetings, I have been on XDA for a long time and I hope that you all can benefit from this patch as we have over at the Amaze Forums. Here is a link to my Original Thread and evidence of this patch's success for our Qualcomm S3 Adreno 220 GPU devices running ICS.
We have proven that this driver Patch has doubled our GPU throughput for 2D and 3D rendering.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631223
I have only tested this on my T-Mobile HTC Amaze (Qualcomm S3 Adreno 220 GPU) and have not experienced any issues.
I have created this Recovery Flashable Patch to Install the Qualcomm Updated Adreno Drivers on the "Official Ruby ICS" release.
Qualcomm Developers Website
I did not get a screenshot of the results before flashing this, however I have seen dramatically improved result on my Quadrant 3D scores with "Force 2D GPU rendering" UNCHECKED in the Setting->Develop Options Menu of this ICS Release. With this option checked I have seen improvements on both 2D and 3D. Although results are slightly degraded for 3D from post update the 2D results have doubled in value.
Quadrant results were obtained immediately after restart to avoid any other processes interfering with the results.
AFTER "Adreno ICS Update" Screenshot 2D Rendering NOT checked.

You may have seen the other MIUI thread on here, but unfortunately a lot stayed in chinese even if you changed the language to English.
Feed3 translated most of the apk's, and I included english versions of Root Explorer and the default gingerbread keyboard as well.
This ROM does NOT format the /data/ partition like the original ROM does. This way you can flash this ROM over your older MIUI installation.
IF YOU'RE COMING FROM ANOTHER ROM (LEGENDFUSE, CM7, ...) YOU HAVE TO WIPE YOUR PHONE FIRST!
Thus, if you want to fix the wifi errors from the original ROM, just flash this over your previous rom, your data will be preserved.
I'm using this rom right now so it's working fine!
Changes:
Added: Google apps are now installed automatically
Fixed/Changed: /Data/ partition is preserved, you can just flash this ROM over your old MIUI rom.
If you want to flash this rom over a non-miui ROM, do a full wipe first. Don't forget to do a nandroid backup first!
Fixed: English Root explorer instead of Chinese one
Fixed: English MIUI Music app instead of Chinese one
Fixed: Wifi rebooting issues
NOTE1:
The first time you'll start this ROM, it will be in chinese. Just follow these instructions to set it to english:
PJ.C said:

NOTE2:
I did not make this ROM, I only made some changes to the updater script and some files. All credit goes to the maker of this ROM (Cofface) and to the people that translated the .APK's (feed3)

I'll do so now. Quadrant?
The ROM feels very snappy though, everything is very fast.
EDIT: The quadrant score is pretty bad, I didn't expect that. The rom really works fluently :/
What really counts is the actual speed, quadrant is just a crappy benchmark.
try antutu,i just did a benchmark on my current rom, just so we can compare it with this one
CM7.2 RC3 @600MHz did:
total score: 1338
cpu: 330
gpu: 658
ram: 86
i/o: 264
DETAILED:
ram: 86
CPU integer: 187
CPU float-point: 143
2D graphics: 264
3D graphics: 394
Database IO: 145
SD card write: (2.6 MB/s) 26
SD card read: (9.3 MB/s) 93
and after a reboot:
total: 1357
ram: 91
CPU integer: 188
CPU float-point: 141
2D graphics: 298
3D graphics: 390
Database IO: 130
SD card write: (4.7 MB/s) 47
SD card read: (7.2 MB/s) 72

very nice indeed!
can you, please, go to scores tab and provide us with detailed scores ? so that we can compare what actually works better and what doesn't. thanks
After a reboot to start afresh, I now get 1375. I'm using a class 4 SD-card.
RAM: 91
CPU integer: 187
CPU float-point: 142
2D graphics: 295
3D graphics: 374

maybe if it would be completely gpu rendered like ics it would be a great aquisition
guys what about gapps? it not works on my legend,i have only loading bar on market
i just tried to flash the rom and keep the data from cm7.2 (i formated system and cache)...and it works...the system boots, sees the apps etc....but i can't even open contacts (although some apps seem to work), i get million FCs, almost for everything i try to do....so, i'll try a clean installation and see if this was because the old data, or the rom.
EDIT: no FCs after fresh flash
Is ist right, the Dalvik cache is mounted at /cache instead of /sd-ext?
@ OP "car home" icon appears twice (maybe just the icon, maybe the whole app)
when I flash the rom i have only 15 mb of internal memory free. how can i fix this?

Hmm, looks like including the gapps in the ROM f*cked up some things indeed.
For now, just install the regular version and flash Gapps separately :/

You need to do a full wipe if you're not coming from a MIUI rom before. Just do a wipe data/factory reset and it should work.
BTW, I managed to get a score of 1755 in AnTuTu.
For some reason it deleted the details though. I did overclock to 825 Mhz to get this result.

seems so, i can't even install gmail...says insufficient space, although i have more than 100mb free, and can install other apps (both from market and sd)

you said you didn't try to flash it over existing cm7 data,so i tried it for you, and the feedback was mentioned above...

Yeah, I figured it could work because this ROM is based off CM7...
Anyways, I'm having this problem too and I'm working hard to fix this. The only thing you can do at the moment is back up your stuff using MyBackup and do a clean install (with wipe!) with Gapps in a separate .zip...
seperately installing gapps fixed the problem with insufficient space
although i noticed that widgets are oversized for me :S
Does anyone else have this problem: When i start Viber it crashes and sends a report everytime.
Since my first phenomenal release (for galaxy s2 gingerbread) my first goal was: not so much tweeks, but BATTERY LIFE.
Phenomenal had a great success for galaxy s2 and for galaxy s3. Integrated Undervolting approach likes to many people, and for the first time (thanks to 3 versions) every user can use the most stable version that save more battery on own device, though
not many users don't know nothing about undervolting or don't know how set.
BUT the main problem in galaxy s3 is: stock galaxy s3 kernel has already a good battery life, so many people think: If stock has a good battery that guarantees to use phone for one full day, why must I use a custom kernel?
NOW THERE IS A REALLY IMPORTANT REASON!!!!
The new but obsolete maps of apple can lose people!!!
So main idea is: use your phone as you do usually;
use the extra battery given by phenomenal to find your iphoners friends!!!

}
How to use:
Install Phenomenal Kernel using CWM recovery (zip version) or ODIN (tar version)
Use your phone as you do usually
When an iphoner lost, use phenomenal extra battery to find him
Run google maps and save your friend!!!
PHENOMENAL, THE BEST BATTERY EVER!
How ever,we have 3 versions: Normal, Medium, Extreme.
Why 3 versions? Because every version has a set of different voltages. Not all cpu are the same, so choose what is better for your phone. If voltages are not supported by your phone, your phone will be freeze (you must remove battery....this is not dangerous for phone).
What version use?
If you don't want try which is best for your phone, install Normal version that is stable for all phones.
If you want find your best version, install extreme...if your phone works good and doesn't freeze, keep this; if not install medium. Again, if your phone works good with medium and doesn't freeze, keep this; if not install normal
Battery life: Extreme > Medium > Normal > Stock
Stability: Stock = Normal > Medium > Extreme
YOU DON'T NEED TO SET ANITHING!!!! VOLTAGES ARE BUILD IN!!
I SUGGEST TO WIPE CACHE AND DALKIK CACHE AFTER INSTALLING KERNEL.
THIS KERNEL IS ONLY FOR JELLY BEAN GALAXY S3 SAMSUNG BASED ROM!!!

I've been waiting, and as expected the Phenomenal extreme runs really smooth and fast. Really great work and thanks for your great work.
On ExTweaks or sTweaks I can probably do without the settings under extreme, right?

Thanks for this!! Can't wait to try it. Does anyone have any comparisons to siyah? I know siyah offers more options - but which gives better battery life?
Can i use STweaks with phenomenal?
I don't see any difference. First stock and then phenomenal medium.
Thankssssssssss

worth the try, but is it really significant?
Mind if I ask you if you're gonna release this for cm10 ROMs? Thanks before hand

Whoa!!! It's here!
Thanks mate! Downloading all and see which is able to withstand the pressure.
As for the difference between stock and this, you need run like a few full cycle before you are able to see the difference.
