Not only is my power button broken, but I can't access the device because the seller forgot the pattern unlock (haven't used in a long time, since he didn't know the power button workaround) and email won't work. How can I hard reset or access my phone in general?
Plug in the phone and 'adb reboot recovery'.
I doubt the previous owner has usb debugging enabled, so you may be SOL on the adb commands.
Try passimg, using the battery trick and volume down to get into hboot.
My device was not found in adb reboot recovery presumably due to disabled usb debugging, but the passimg method worked! Thank you very much!
Need HELP TOO
can someone tell me how you guys fixed the problem , i have the EXACT same problem with my nexus one, need to hard reset but no power button
You need download Android SDK to use adb command in cmd(windows).

If you have USB debugging on than use ADB like mentioned above.
If not use the passimg
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...des_&_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus
to get your N1 on, try plugging it in with usb charger and remove/insert battery.
might take a few times but the phone might come on using this method.
Thanks so much for that link, the passimg method worked,

Can you help me?
If you bricked your phone which is very hard to do you`re fu**.
Only way to bring it back is with Jtag and i don`t think riff jtag can do this job.
Just pray and search a jtag in your area !
the drivers installed correctly ?
Just try it at another computer or install a second and if possible different version of Windows. Then there install drivers and follow guid again. I also had problems under Windows XP already. Then tried it at the same PC, but Windows 7 64 bit and suddenly it worked like a charm I always have dual boot, just in case something doesnt work I play around much with my installations
Easiest way is try it at another PC, idk, maybe a friend's or maybe u have a second one.
Already tried to disable Lg Modem?
I tried to put the CM10 on my phone, after installing the zip in recovery mode, I rebooted the device and it never returned to start. Does not show a single light. Do not enter in any way with any combination. When I connect by usb the only thing that appears in device manager is "apx device." Already tried so many things and nothing worked.
anyone have any idea what's going on?
by the way, I tried a lot here in xda before opening a thread.

No, no, no and no. the only sign of life when it is connected to the pc. Appears "apx" in device manager.
Yeah you are in apx mode, which is basically the boot section of the nvidia tegra chipset.
You should be able to boot normally by unplugging the phone, remove battery for a few seconds, reinsert and hold power button for about 10 seconds
Also try holding power and vol+ (hold them a while) you should be able to boot into normal recovery

I've try that but dont work.
In device manager the apx device is it properly installed or does it have the triangle?
When it first connected as apx device it probably asked you for drivers, i doubt you installed them.
I don't know if the apx drivers for the 04 are out already, check these terms in xda i know some people have been working on them.
Maybe you can find them here
If the device isn't bricked you are in a situation in which you should be able to flash stuff.
For some this method worked:
Try turn off phone
take battery out
hold vol- and put usb cable into phone
if s/w mode starts put battery in and flash kdz
Otherwise check this thread out
or this
I have to go out and can't follow you for a while, sorry

The only way for you to get connected in APX is without battery, connect to PC while pressing vol- & vol+.
Anyway... why you want to do that? APX mode doesn't work in JB.
Ok... I got it.
Did you tried to deactivate the APX device in device manager?
You can try to performe the bootloader unlock again (run adb and connect the phone while the program wait for device...)
http://www.4shared.com/rar/HFf4newq/LGO4X-UNLOCK-BOOTLOADER.html (instructions inside).
Or try to get in SW mode by trying untill it works... (connect to PC while pressed vol-).
Any update on the problem?

No, i think what happened was that all the firmware is erased and this naturally gave access to apx that should be hidden by the software. Probably there was some error when I wipe to put the CM10. I see no other explanation.
The phone is actually mine. Already sent it to warranty hoping they'll fix it.
Resuming, the phone went unexpectadly in APX mode and havent found a way of quitting that mode, couldn't boot S/W neither bootloader.
And btw the phone is carrier locked and to be honest I'm not sure if it might be part of the problem or not. Anyway in about two weeks the phone should be back and hopefully fixed. If not I'll check here for some more help guys, thanks for attetion so far
Well i've got this problem with a Xperia Z1 from a friend of mine. It's not powering on. If i press the power button the phone won't turn on. It can enter fastboot but that is everything. The phone is fully charged because that's the only thing that works so far beside the fastboot. It's on stock firmware no custom ROM. Maybe that you people of XDA have the solution i hope so or experienced the same problem and that it is fixable.
Greetings,
Kyrindia

I Had a similar issue, my volume up button got stuck, causing it to always boot in fastboot.
Power up phone, connect to pc, install driver, then run fastboot on your pc and run:
Code:
fastboot continue
Let me know if it helps!

Did something happen to the phone?
Like dropped it in some liquid other than water?
Does the camera button still function?
For an android reinstall:
Boot the phone normally and perform a software reinstall using Sony PC Companion, connect it via USB to your pc.
With PCC you can fully reinstall the software on the phone.

The phone screen was replaced recently. The camera button works fine. And i don't know if there was any other liquid then water in the phone or something like that. The last thing that i could try is to reinstall the software and hopefully that works.
Thanks anyway :good:
Hi all,
I rooted my phone and unclocked bootloader.
My rom is a stock rom.
I managed to install CWM recovery using lg-optimus-4xhd-recovery-v1.0.apk but something happened.
I rebooted my phone in recovery mode and it is always locked to LG logo.
Pressing Volume up and power I can see normal android system recovery, wiping cache and factory reset don't work.
I haven't usb debugging enable so my computer can't see the phone connected with usb cable, and it's impossible for me flashing the phone with kdz rom methods.
What can I do?
Thx in advance for your answers
No one can help me?
Flashing with kdz results in "phone was not found", is there a way to resolve? I've tried with ubuntu, OS (adb) only see my phone if usb debugging is enabled and it isn't, and with a laptop running win8, installing LG drivers and so on, nothing works.
This is salvagable
If you can get the stock recovery mode, all is not lost, all of the important bits are still functioning.
Power down. Hold VolDn and insert the USB cable. If you get the Software Update screen with a green icon you CAN recover the phone. It may require a battle with Windows to get it to play nice, Windows and USB is always a hit or miss affair; but the phone is ok if that screen appears. Do not use the VolUP + Power LG Recovery mode, there isn't a known tool for that in the wild.
I don't normally run Windows and the couple of times I have booted it to do this it required some hassle and usually skipping the nice way since I had never installed the bundled LG Desktop stuff before things went wrong. So just do what I did, pick the Emergency mode that requires inputting the IMEI instead of letting it detect your phone and then let it fix things for you.

Many thanks for your answer, I resolved the problem late at night, yes, after a hard battle with windows.
I installed windows 7 32 bit, I tried a lot of Lg drivers, 3.8.1 maybe the best, after inserting the USB cable with SW Update screen some LG peripherals were recognized but the result in KDZ_FW_UPD was always "phone was not found", then I tried connecting USB cable with the Phone in Android recovery mode ( power & Vol up), and OS added a couple more peripherals, and attempting again with SW Upgrade mode worked.
I did a huge mistake. I wiped the System and the cash and data on the phone and reboot it, then the phone stuck in google Logo. The problem is I can’t go to Recovery mode because Both up and Down Volume Botton are broken. Is there any way to activate the adb, in this case, to turn the Recovery mode, then flash a new Rom? I tried the adb reboot command, but the phone was not recognized.
or is there a way to Force the phone into recovery mode?
please i need Help

I’m afraid to say that, but it can’t be repaired
@olofoego,
The only way for you is to bridge volume down button pins on your motherboard. Search the web to find out the required pins. When you find the required pins then u should bridge them, connect usb cable to your pc and phone and wait until your phone will boot into fastboot mode. But be very careful because u can break the motherboard.
PS: I'm not responsible for any damage u can do to your phone!
