Type in *#272*<your imei># in your dailer and choose country code and install(beware this wipes your apps and contacts off your phone so back up first).

The reg patcher do NOT work. Only way atm to fool Kies is to use SpoofFw.

I just downloaded the registry patcher from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628
Pic attached to show how I set it up, then clicked write registry, connected the phone and it offered me JVO (XEU) even though I flashed JVB (NEE) previously with Odin.

Thats what i installed JVO. I am not sure on what you are trying to do.JVO is 2.3.3.
If you have problems updating, the country code I am talking about changing is on the phone (nothing to do with your pc)

Lol, I'm on JVB but I'm going to flash JVO because it's XEU, in other words it's the correct update for my region (UK/Ireland), JVB is for the Nordic regions, I don't have any problems upgrading because I usually use Odin, I just wanted to point out that the registry patcher works for me that's all
Just waiting for JKay to update his themes before I flash yet again.

Reg patcher do not work all the way, when you start upgrading, Kies makes another check of your phone and will find the actual firmware you use and will stop the upgrade. that is the reason why I created SpoofFw.

Samsung pulled the latest update (that was available via KIES)?

So I read about the update while at college. Came home, backed up my phone, and opened KIES to grab the update (I have used KIES previously for wired tethering, so everything was setup already.) Unfortunately, I got this message:
Model Name: SGH-T959
Current Version: PDA:JFD / PHONE:JFD
The device's version cannot be updated.
I called Samsung Tech support and they told me "There is no software available for Samsung Vibrant. If you download KIES it won't even work for your phone. Any update will be pushed OTA."
Beside the idiotic response of how KIES won't even work for my phone (yes I know it isn't "officially" released for USA phone but that doesn't mean it won't work...), it seems like Samsung has pulled the firmware update. Maybe someone accidentally flipped the switch a bit early?
Okay, although Samsung has pulled the update from Kies, the update itself is still available from http://fus.samsungmobile.com/Phone_...T959TMBJI5_T959UVJI5_T959UVJI5_UV_TMB.zip.enc.
Download it and flash with Odin.
You really thought this deserved its own thread?
I went to publix and bought some eggs. Should I make a new thread?

You need to use Stuffit to unzip it first. Search for a program that unzips .enc files.

Old Kies vs. Upgraded Kies
I downgraded Kies to 1.5.1 (i believe) and upgrade magically appeared when running 1.5.3 no upgrade so I dont know if sammy pulled it or not. BTW I prefer egg beaters.
No this doesnt need a new thread, as almost everyone who tried the JI5 update said it was nothing special, and THERE ALREADY IS A THREAD FOR THIS UPDATE lol. The fact that Samsung pulled it also states something. If you want to flash a bad firmware, feel free this doesnt need to be here in its own thread.
I can imagine why, so many people.called samsung, maybe thats why it got removed

Installing lagfix?

Hello, i have one piece I9000 running on 2.1 and flashed it with ODIN to 2.1 JPJG8. I now want to install lagfix on it. Can someone instruct me how to do it?
what type of lagfix do u want ? there is a simple one called 'one click lag fix' (OCLF) available in market. or there is voodoo or speedmod.. have a look in the android development section you will see them all in there

Which one to you recommend, im running on 2.1 version JPJG8? ALso, give me link...thank you.
Well checked the site you recommended and found OCLF ok...I wish to install Stock ROM using ODIN. After that can i just root the phone and then install lagfix?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756 - this is speedmod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823300 - this is voodoo
i use speedmod but i am not saying that is the best one, i have also used voodoo, they are similar but it all boils down to personal choice there is no best / worst
also read through the whole thread before going ahead with it, make sure its compatible with your device and make sure you know how to recover if something goes wrong.
Ok, thanks for the info bro...i'll check out your link

Lol, even I've forgotten mine because I bought it from Orange....I think all the 2.2.1 works...mine is I9000XXJPU(I've tried to flash I9000XXJPY, but failed )anyway, no need to recall back your original firmware, just take any 2.2.1 firmwares and flash it...but be careful, because there are possibilities to brick your SGS even though the risk is small....
Can you recommend any 2.2 european firmware i can flash with? I dont want 2.2.1 since i think its risky.

To unroot, flash the UnRoot-i9001-signed.zip
To go back stock recovery, flash the 9001_stock_recovery-signed.zip
Don't want to do all this, simply download a stock ROM that suit your region and flash with Odin 4.43 or upgrade your firmware by Samsung Kies.
All of the information you can get it from the Wiki page
Search from there I think all the information that provided in the wiki page is more than enough and easy to understand.
Ok, thanks, now I know
I am living in f***ing Serbia separated from the rest of IT world where everything comes last or doesn't come at all.
I don't have official Gingerbread above 2.3.3 so my only option is to backup my current ROM which is stock and to restore it one day if needed...

Have you search in SamMobile Firmware?I found one,it have same PDA as you and the build date is September 2011,for more information you can check in SamFirm page.BTW,here the download link : http://www.hotfile.com/dl/156719871/41e0c70/I9001XXKI2_I9001SEBKH1_SEB.zip.html
I found it, but the CSC is not the same. Btw is CSC important to be the same?
I don't know,i still new to android & samsung rom.I think PDA is more important:silly:btw, only this rom has have same PDA as your.
CSC is the Country/Carrier Specific Code (not sure exactly which it is, both kinda make sense). It contains the files for customisation for specific networks, so will have the APN settings, maybe custom ringtones or backgrounds, and can have programs too. Some CSC files contain a lot more than others, hence the file size differences.
Mixing different PDA/PHONE/CSC files is certainly possible, although it might be best not to stray too far on the PDA and PHONE side. The CSC isn't really very important in most cases - at worst you'll probably just have to set up the APN manually

Help! No 4.0.4 update still in my Note 1.

Hi Guys,
I've searched everywhere in the google about upgrading my note to 4.0.4 (currently i have 4.0.3) however, some of the users suggest that i should have rooted or flash my phone. (I dont want to risk my phone) One article that ive seen is, i should change my CSC code to DBT by doing *#272 so i can have an update..... I tried to do that but there is no DBT in the selection. So here are my questions:
1. Aside from DBT, what are the other CSC codes that comes first available whenever there is an update?
2. If i change my CSC, do i need to change it back after i get the 4.0.4 update? Or not necessarily?
Thanks in advance.

First of all i want to thank you guys for your patience of teaching me how to update to 4.0.4. It was a success! Thank you!
However i just have a quick question, i tried checking the CSC in *#1234# and im showing that my CSC is DBTLRT, however when i checked in *#272*IMEI, there is only one sales code and its ATO, so does it mean that my CSC is still ATO? Or DBT? So can i just disregard the ATO in *#272*IMEI?
i would like to think that this is the official 4.0.4 in DBT that i just installed and im happy because i didn't root it
Cheers!
Your csc is not properly set, as it is a ATO not DBT, though if you don't have any issues continue as it is, check for sometimes it may give null typing on Samsung keyboard.

At first, i thought the reason why my Sales config shows ATO because i didn't factory reset the phone after i flashed it. ehehe! So it is kinda weird that i have DBTLRT CSC in *#1234# but when i checked in *#272*IMEI, it only shows ATO in sales config. Thank you thank you
*#1234# shows info according ROM you have flashed
but that CSC is not applied still so no update on *272...code
It is issue related to applying CSc post flashing, not with factory reset.

Thank you Dr Ketan, last question. where did you get the "cache.rar" file that youve mentioned in your previous comment? I tried to look to some of your post but all i see are the ROMS and Firmware. (Just curious so next time i have this kind issue, at least i know where i can download it) Hehehe! Thank you!
Lastly, is there a Thank you button here? I can't thank you enough
There is no special thread for that, but when i see multiple issue (this happened to DDLR9/LRQ/LRT) at that time/if i get personal request, then only i do upload it.
BTW, you didn't mentioned have it solved your issue or not.

Download the new firmware, flash it with odin. Otherwise, upgrade via kies.

You have to make sure the new firm is kies ready or not.

don't stress yourself about soft bricking your phone it is repairable
take the time to search through the various forum sections that are some useful "how to" guides on installing / upgrading your phone's firmware

Well said. Also, Odin isn't some homemade crappy software. It's acually a samsung flash tool made by samsung.
If it can't be updated by kies its probably OTA update.
Go to Settings > About Phone > Software update (or simmilar, i use Croatian language so idk exact name in english).

chances are your phone is in a region that has not been given the latest firmware update yet
this is fairly common
your best bet is to use odin and do a manual update to the latest firmware version
make sure you pick the right one for your model of phone
