How can one edit the prefix digits of one missing country in the GMT list of HTC GMT locations.
My example: i need that GMT 0 with country prefix +351 (Lisbon, Portugal),
be available to selected. Presently i had to opt for GMT 0 London, Dublin
but the prefetched prefix (which is not 351, at all -- but very different)
suposedly prevents placing -- both sending and receiving -- local phone calls and sms.
I'll very much appreciate some help on this issue.
Afterall i average that it is one of the manifold vocations of this site.
Thanks for your possible attention.

I'm not sure if this helps you, but at least this as a reference for you to solve problems missing country in the GMT list of HTC GMT locations. look at >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2000880&postcount=1
THANKZ, but while i acknowledge your kind willingness to help, the referred thread is too tech demanding for a newbe as i am. Sadly enough, i deceided
it made very little sense to keep a device that does not allow to receive or place phone calls (it envelopes the 3 digits i padtype in parenthesis, as if they were my local prefix...
What realy puzzles me is how come and why, expert people in cooking very otherwise attractive and stable versions flashable ROMs, such as AUSDIM and
or PdaVIET to quote only these 2, and do not recognize the exioxtence of a country with 9 cernturies in Europe and Citty which worldwide known for various reasons and factors. But this same persons did not forget to include in the GMT database locals such as Aardvark, Iceland and/or Seshenkwan,?, USA which are places that defy a geologist student to identify, let alone map-pinpointing! One more amazing fact!!! Believe it or not.
So I had to give up my recent htc small flashing victories.
But take the opportunitty to thank you for your feedback of help attempt.
I posted 5 or 6 queries in this site (prior to the one you quote in yor referral)
and your msg. was the ONLY PERTINENT ONE i received. Hèlas.

Thanks!

i think americans call it military time and call it stuff like 15 hundred!!!!! at least thats what movies told me
Dad was in the RAF (British) and iv grown up with military time. Tried 'regular time' twice now, and both times miss set my alarm by mistake.

Some Americans call it military time. Not sure why since there's a lot more people than the military that uses it.

Theres a reason for it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_time said:
In Australia, Canada and the United States, the term military time is a synonym for the 24-hour clock notation, which counts the hours of the day from 00 to 23.[1] In these regions, the time of day is customarily given almost exclusively using the 12-hour clock notation, which counts the hours of the day as 12, 1, ..., 11 with suffixes AM and PM distinguishing the two diurnal repetitions of this sequence. The 24-hour clock is commonly known there only in a few specialist areas (military, astronomy, computing, logistics, emergency services, hospitals), where the ambiguities of the 12-hour notation are deemed too inconvenient, cumbersome, or outright dangerous, with the military's use being historically the first and most famous example. The term "military time" has no particular meaning in most other regions of the world, where the 24-hour clock has long become a common element of every-day civilian life.

We'd still have to use time zones... Even if we went to UTC time. As someone who regularly uses it, I think it would be less confusing to use UTC time. You should probably know that though.
Just as a side note, the US Railroads were the ones who invented and introduced Time Zones. Before this, there were a dizzying amount of time zones used in the US, even adjacent cities would use different times, this caused several problems of course and made the safe running of trains much harder. There is no option on either the regional setting nor on the clock setting. Can someone help me set it to non military time??
I am using Dutty's build (19199.duttys) V6.1 on AT&T tilt.
I like the ROM, but wondering if there is a newer one out with more stuff on it.
Also, Is there a newer ROM out? I can't seem to be able to find a link to ROMS where everyones Rom is listed and updated? Is there not such a thread or area Website, ftp? with updated rom listings.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

I wish it was simple as that. I have changed it as you said to h:mm:ss and hh:mm:ss and hit ok.. and then changed the clock and it's all the same.
I even did a stylus reset and nothing... maybe I need an updated ROM.
Thanks.

For some reason it seems like the basis of timezones were first introducted in UK... (not US...)
Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zone#History
And IMHO, I prefer the 24hr format (especially since every time I need to wonder what midnight is : am or pm in the 12hrs format)
I am in the US, but have always referred to it as 24 hour time... and it's what I use. I work in the Broadcast industry, and to complicate things, have to deal with about 6 different timezones.
My favorite example, when Indiana was divided between two timezones, we had a station broadcasting from one timezone into the other. Some things had to run based on Eastern Time, and others, Central Time, and still others came in with Pacific Time notations....
I think it might take a learning curve, but we should stop using timezones, or at least do away with 'Daylight Saving Time'.
Stepping off of soapbox now
Jeremie
UK here, and from some limited travelling in Europe 'military time' is more often used than normal time. BBC News (if it sets any standards ) uses 24 hour clocks. I don't know why, I'm just much more comfortable with a 24 hour clock, although I don't ever say '18 hundred hours' I would say 6 o clock, just the way it's written is different...
To each their own though maybe it's because I'm from the metric generation, metres instead of feet, celsius instead of fahrenheit (I still don't know what my mum means when she says it was 109, that's hotter than boiling water in my book) and such.
I've been looking around for a long while and can't seem to find a windows mobile solution that would give me the same results as Google's "Quick Add" or Splashdata's Palm OS program "Snap" or "Slap." Essentially these programs make data entry faster by letting the user just type all the pertinant information in one field, and then the program populates the rest of the fields where it can.
For example, setting up an appointment by typing the phrase "Dinner at Steve's on tuesday from 6p to 8p"
This would fill in the following fields in a new appointment:
Subject: Dinner
Location: Steve's
Date: Tuesday, August 25th, 2008
Time: 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
Similarily contact entry is the same:
"Steve Smith cell 123-555-1234 home 321-555-4321 888 Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 54321"
This would yield a new contact:
First Name: Steve
Last Name Smith
Cell Phone 123-555-1234
Home Phone 321-555-4321
Address: 888 Lincoln Ave
Chicago, IL 54321
Populating the fields is all automatic and it saves a lot of time, especially if you're setting up multiple appointments or contacts at once. Or if someone speaks their information to you while you type it in your device. Does this Windows Mobile App exist? Can anyone make it exist?
There is something very nearly like that which was posted to this section recently but I'm not finding it on searching.. Might search some more, I'm sure it's here somewhere.
Thanks khaytsus, do you remember any key words that I might be able to use in a search? Or does anyone else?
Anyone else?
If anyone comes by this months later, feel free to respond. I'll keep an eye on this posting. Thanks.

This is interesting. In looking at the fix, I could see that the timezone was changed from 360 to 300. I expect that 300 refers to 300 minutes (5 hours) less than GMT. My checks show that Ottowa's standard time is -5 GMT but it is currently on Daylight Savings time from March 8th, making the current time -4 GMT. How is this reflected in the manilla file?
I too have found that my city Port of Spain in Trinidad shows the incorrect time but from my review of the database, the Timezone shows 240, which is -4 GMT, which is correct, yet the time shown is wrong. Port of Spain does not use Daylight Savings time so what is needed to correct it.

There are also a link in the database point to windows mobile time-zone setting, that is called MSID. This is also affected the time zone showing in the manila.
Basically, the MS database was correct, but the Manila some how is wrong, as you notice, the interesting part is the "minutes" that "add/minus" in the database was not always same as the "GMT +/-". What we can do is make it run for the meantime until HTC fix it.

I changed Port of Spain's MSID from 50 to 55 and I got the correct time. I copied the MSID from Bridgetown, Barbados which carries the same time and which was correct. If this is correct, perhaps you can update your database to reflect this change.
hey Peacocb, where did you get your phone and what carrier are you using. I'm thinking of getting this phone over the TP2 as I don't need the keyboard.

Sorry for creating a new post, but I did not find any details discussions or solutions proposed for this problem. If solutions have been detailed other than the below, request you to direct me there.
I am from India, using the Bionic on Reliance CDMA. Bionic is running on ICS 4.0.4 Build 6.7.2-223
1. The current country in Assited dialing is set to US and is greyed out - cannot change ; any way this could be altered?
2. Switching ON/OFF the assited dialing - not helping.
3. Reference country changed to India - not helping.
4. Updated the National number length to 7 - not helping.
5. Changing the IDD does not seem to have an effect on the 011 being added to the numbers. Not able to blankout IDD, requires some input.
The only working solution is remove the country code +91 (India code) and just save the 10 digit numbers. But do not want to do this as STD (outstation) numbers will not work without +91. Do not want to add 0 in front of numbers either.
Any possible solution? Sorry if this has been answered - I have tried to google a solution but none of the above seem to fix the issue.
This is my first thread in XDA. I have learnt a lot from you guys - so a BIG THANK YOU.
Thanks,
Sid.
Hello everyone
Problem: HTC phone identifying incoming callers already in contacts.
Phone: HTC One M7 (also a problem with other HTC versions)
Version: European
Rooted, TWRP recovery, Android Revolution HD 71 ROM
Description: I travel a lot and have the country code on all contact numbers. So for Lebanon the country code is +961, and then you have two versions of area codes:
- Either 01, 03, etc
- Or for mobile numbers they've added 70, 71, 76, etc
Phone number length is always 6 digits. So when adding the country code the full number length will either be 10 digits (+961 X XXX XXX) or 11 digits (+961 XX XXX XXX, for the new mobile numbers). When in Lebanon, receiving a local call doesn't show the country code. When I receive a call from one of the new mobile numbers (70, 71, 76, etc), I can see the name of the caller if he/she is in my contacts. The problem is when I receive a call from a 0X number, my HTC doesn't link the contact to the incoming call ID. This means that the default HTC minimum phone number length (or National Number Length) is 8 digits whereas it should be 6 or 7 (with or without the area code).
For numbers with 0x area codes, the leading zero is removed when you add the country code so 03-XXX XXX becomes +961 3 XXX XXX (as I have them stored in my contacts) but then the phone doesn't recognize the contact.
I've searched high and low for this all over the web and was only able to find a solution for the Windows Phone versions of the HTC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2613156&postcount=20&nocache=1&z=2442631679847231. I've also posted about this before for the HTC One X+ but no one was able to help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202350&page=3
I've got a rooted phone with Android Revolution HD 71 and the issue was the same on stock rom, older Revolution HD 52, and still on Revolution HD 71.
Using Rom Toolbox Pro I found some build.prop settings (on Revolution HD 52) that might have solved the problem:
ro.phone.min_match.HTC__Y13=8
ro.phone.min_match.HTC__J15=7
ro.phone.min_match.HTC__016=8
But when I reduce these down to 6 I still have the same issue. These settings aren't available on Revolution HD 71, but either way there must be a deeper system setting that can be changed to be able to modify the minimum phone number length identification.
The only support I found from HTC seems to be for the Verizon version of the M7 which is in assisted dialing and they state that the National Number Length can be changed from there, but that setting is non-existent in the European version (I can only choose my country and either enable or disable assisted dialing).
I found one link relating to the framework decompiling, editing, and recompiling but I'm not a dev and can't do that to create my own ROM.
I've even tried going to the database settings for com.htc.contacts, com.htc.dialer, com, etc but couldn't find anything!!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone can help with this I would be really grateful!
Thanks!!!!

matching your device's CID? If not you could try add a line to the build.prop that matches your CID. e.g:
Code:
ro.phone.min_match.XXXXXXXX=6
and then restart your phone. Hopefully this works!
Squabbi - I can't thank you enough for helping me in the right direction!!!!!
I had a feeling that might be the issue but when I created the line in the build.prop it still didn't work.. I went back yo fastboot and did fastboot getvar all it showed a different CID (VODAP001)
When I created the new line with ro.phone.min_match.VODAP001 it worked!!!! When I get a call from 7-digit numbers (including area code) it works!!!
Thank you so so much! I've suffered so much from this and in 2 years haven't found a solution I'm going to search every forum and help people who had this issue!
I'm apalled at HTC as they haven't been helpful with this although its their phones!
Thanks again!!

yep indeed
i searched for years myself without finding any solution whatsoever, and HTC support didn't help at all.... so for years, i had a script to duplicate every number to both +961 x xxx xxx and 0x xxx xxx in Outlook.
you should also look into an app called prefixer it also had/has it's uses (past tense for me), but could be a useful app nonetheless
and just google: "7 digit caller id fixed" that would have hit the spot
