Just wanted to tell you about this realy helpful little app called In-App Wifi Toggle.
I didn't make it og anything, i just think its the easist way to enable/disable wifi.
Surely it's a lot easier to use quick settings, and you don't have to download anything extra?
Nope, just install and restart.
Iv'e had it for 2 weeks now, and it works every time and in all apps.
I don't think you understood what I meant, if you drag down the taskbar, there is a quick settings tab, you can toggle wi-fi from there and you don't have to install anything to do it, it comes as standard.

i don't think he can use your custom ROM yet LP....
he is S-ON phone..(signature)
Doesn't matter, it's a feature of the stock ROM
you mean stock ROM for gingerbread right?
it is on sense 2.1 but not on froyo though..
i dont know, he might not know it (if he has 2.3.3)
or he prefer to toggle it from homescreen.. hehehe..
I have 2.3.3 and think is easier to toggle Wifi from a shortcut then to drag down the curtain - that all.
P.S.: i have just got my phone S-OFF today and is in the progress to get Root. After that im flashing l0st.prophet's ROM ;-)

I am refering to the "wifi, bluetooth, silent and vibration" toggles you see when you pull down the notification bar.
I think this is specifically for i9000 becoz I dont remember seeing this sort of thing in other android screenshots.
Anyway, is there any way to remove these? Coz i am already using widget and dont need it on the bar.
I would also want to know how. thanks guys
I actually think its a quite handy spot to have those toggles, but would be wicked if one could select which settings to have there.

Yep I agree. Love them but wish I could change them. Why bother with silent? I would rather toggle GPS or 3G

The newer leaked firmwares [froyo builds] have taken out the silent, and added GPS and screen-orientation lock.

Yup! From what I seen with the leaked firmwares, I guess Samsung also find it more useful to add the missing GPS option into it.
Though is just minor improvement, I think is a good improvement.
The captivate has Buttons/Toggles in the notification bar and for some reason they have Silent and Vibrate. I would like to have the option to load the i9000 bar that removes Vibration and has GPS instead.
Is this easily accomplished?
At some point i may just switch over to the i9000 ROM altogether, but there still seem to be enough little bugs in even the modified kernels that I am not ready to give up functionality.
Thanks!

Have you tried using an I9000 firmware with the I9000 reorient kernel? It solves most of the compatibility issues
as for bringing their bar over to us (or even editing our bar to choose what we want), I don't think anyone has made much headway on that since it's in framework-res.apk and those are device/ROM specific. I guess you could unpack them and try to find the button toggles and swap them out, but I don't have the expertise to explain/know how to do this.
what bugs are you talking about using a kernel with the i9000 ROMs? the reoriented kernel seems to be basically complete OR you can actually use the 100% stock captivate kernel and it works just as well (except you need to keep the AT&T modem which doesn't have HSUPA). You can even use Unhelpful's kernel for the init.d support for Mobile AP.

I thought the BT bug was still there. I may have to rebuild anyway as I am missing some apps and Samsung widgets after applying voodooo lag fix kernel.
Couldn't tell ya when it comes to BT, I don't have any BT devices
I do a lot of conf. calls on the road, so a BT headset is easier then holding the phone to my head. Especially when i want to surf and post in the forums.
I'd really prefer to have the GPS toggle instead of silent mode myself.

Explain please to us fellow noobs? I really don't know which config files you are talking about editing. Could I ask if the is possibility an app that does the editing for us as well?
WiFi-Data-GPS-Vibrate, would be perfect I'd love to be able to switch.

Requires being on the specific home screen with said widget, rather than being able to enable/disable in nearly any app

You can also use quick settings from the market and access gps from pull down screen. Although, I agree having it in place of vibrate would be better.

How?!
I want:
Wi-Fi / BlueTooth / GPS / Vibrate
Then, I can get rid of that stupid Power Control widget that's on one of my homescreens, since everything would be accessible.
Agreed this would be nice, it's one of the main reasons I'm using an I9000 ROM on my captivate currently. I hope it really is just a config file setting, that would be super easy to change...
Reason I prefer this over using a separate application/widget is because it's quicker, more convenient, don't have to waste screen space for a widget, don't have to install more crap to waste system space/resources. Also, Silent is useless to me since why not just use vibrate mode, and silent can be accessed fast enough by holding power button anyways.
If this happened I might be a little more inclined to actually use a Captivate ROM, but I still enjoy the I9000 ROM's either way.
(I actually posted a request for this a while back in the themes/apps section)

Exactly. It's redundant.
Anyone...?
For some reason the latest CM9 ROM that I installed was wildly unstable on my NS4G, but I really enjoy the power controls in the notifications.
Is there any way to port this functionality to the stock ROM? I'm willing to do some leg work if this hasn't been done, but need to know where to start.
I found something similar for the battery icon here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434061
I really do enjoy the stock 4.0.4 but a few tweaks is all I want.
Widgetsoid
You can try Widgetsoid on google play. It allows you to control a lot things in the notification panel.
Try this one.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
Sent from my Nexus S
Thank you guys for the responses.
I've tried both, and while they both work pretty well the 4G toggle does not work properly. They both bring me to the details of the 4G settings instead of just toggling it on/off.
Would I be on the right path if I simply started digging into both the CM9, and stock ICS ROMs and started comparing differences? Any idea if there is an apk that controls this? Like maybe SystemUI.apk? Definitely not above going in and monkeying with it.
All I really want is to enable my back button to serve as a menu button so I can get rid of the black bar. If I could add some settings toggles to the notification shade too, great, if not Power Toggles is working just fine. I like Sense 5, don't want to get rid of it. I don't want a heavily modded rom. Just want something as fast and stable as complete stock with the ability to add the tweaks mentioned above. I searched around and couldn't really find the answer, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Patience. These things will come that I promise but they are not here yet. Give the devs a few weeks and you will be rewarded

I have no problems waiting. I always have a hard time finding what I'm looking for on XDA so I wasn't sure if it was just me being a derp about the search or if it really wasn't out yet.

I'll have to check it out.
Thanks to you both.
My XV is running NeoWave rom and I can't find a way to add some titles to Quick Setting (Toogle Sound mode, Toogle Wifi AP, etc...) like some other custom roms, so someone please tell me how can I do that
Regard phone freezing issue, my phone sometimes freeze when charging, charging LED still on when I unplug the phone, and I can't do anything except pulling out the battery. I never had this problem with stock rom, only with custom rom (Carbon and NeoWave). How can I fix this?
OmniRom doesn't support some Quick Settings that are included in other roms.
I suggest installing the app "Safe Charge" from Play Store to get rid of the freeze issues.
You can "swipe" a lot of tiles in the quicksettings, to show a secondary function.
The volume buttin changes to sound settings, the WiFi button to tethering, the network data button to data connection, the battery percentage to battery status etc.
All settings are there

I tried Safe Charge but it seems the issue still persist. Btw love your rom so much, only some minor problem with ART but overall it's great :good::good::good:
One more question, in other roms some Quick Settings titles have their own setting. For example I can remove Silent and Ringer only mode in Sound title, only Vibrate and Sound+Vibrate left. So does NeoWave rom has this option as well?
I haven't quite figured that out.
When you deblock the buttons so that you can move them, some of them can be changed size and transparency when clicked. I imagine that has something to do with it, but i did not experiment.
Already installed Safe Charge and SOD has even been more frequently. I missed my morning alarms because of that. I never experienced that on any stock-based rom. Is it kernel related?
It's strange, as only a few people have SoDs. I personally don't.
So sad. I had sudden shutdown problem with stock rom before, then I changed to Carbon then your rom and that problem has gone, but now SoD.
I think Quick Settings lacks customizations compared to other rom. As far as I know, this is rom-integrated, so GravityBox (and other Xposed modules, too) won't work. It means only you can make some modifications to this, right?
It requires quite a lot of modding to add quick settings.
I dont have a lot of time for developing in the next months. Sorry.
@WhiteNeo Don't feel sorry bro, you've already work really hard to bring us this wonderful rom :good::good::good: And beside that, it seems I'm the only one request this feature, and maybe other guys prefer Omni-style Quick Settings, so it would be great if you could provide a flashable zip for this modification, of course only if you have time Good luck with your studying
