[Q] Captivate SIM in blackberry curve - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I take the samsung captivate sim card, and put it in a Blackberry Curve 9300 (which is at&t 3g capable)? Will I need to purchase another plan or will it work right away with the samsung captivate sim?
thankss

It should work fine

The phone shouldn't have anything to do with the sim, I've put my sim in a couple of phones (some quite old) and never had a problem.

[Q] 3G speeds on T-mobile

I am aware that T-mobile uses different 3G bands than does ATT. Most phones when unlocked are left to crawl on edge and cannot get 3G speeds when switched to another carrier. Being as the Captivate and Vibrant are essentially the same phone, would this be an issue. I've been on the G1 since it came out and I really don't like the iphone look of the vibrant. Was planning on getting a Captivate and unlocking, but not if I'll loose 3G.
Can anyone running an unlocked Captivate tell me if they're getting 3g on t-mo??
I would say no.

I believe it was engadget that said the Captivate can get t mobile 3g speeds but not vice versa.
Nope you can only get 3G on the vibrant unlocked to att not the captivate you can only get EDGE speeds on tmo with the captivate.
So basically:
Vibrant: tmo 3G
Att 3G
Captivate: tmo EDGE
Att 3G
So yes it might be an issue for you lol

Ah well that sucks then. Oh well let's look into that G2 then

Doesn't look like a bad phone but I wouldn't trade my vibrant for it lol if you want a phone worth getting wait for the glacier.

Only thing I really don't like about the galaxy s's is lack of trackball. .. I really use that alot. Also physical keyboard is a plus while not a must for me.

I hear you on the track ball. I almost went with the HTC Aria for that reason. But the Samsung GS phones are just so damn cool it's unbelievable! Really...... get the TMO version of GS and if you miss your track ball after 2 weeks then exchange it.

Am I screwed?

I just got a galaxy tab Sprint off ebay and it's still activated. 3g works. I don't think its stolen because i got the box complete with all the contents. my concern is i wont be able to activate this thing when it eventually turns off.
anyone have a similar experience?
You can still use it as a wifi only tab.

I know, I would eventually like to add it to my Sprint plan.
Then what is the problem ? Here in europe you can use any phone you want with the plan you subscribe.

that it may be linked to another account??
Why don't you just contact the guy that sold it to you?
Sorry but are you guys on drugs or something?
All you do is put another sim card in, Or am I mistaken and Sprint do not use sim cards or something?
It's a cdma version, so no sim card. But i think you can still use it with another plan. Try to contact sprint.

[Q] 4G sim in 3G phone?

So i just upgraded my samsung captivate to a new Galaxy S2 on At&T. The sales rep told me that i had to switch my sim card so that i can recieve 4G radios on my new phone. Will this new sim card work in my old captivate? Even tho the Galaxy s2 only gets HSPA+ radios, does the change of sim card make it not usable in my old phone? Thanx for the help
You asked two questions so I can't just say yes. But yes to the 4g sim will work in both phones. This is because the galaxy s 2 has more than just a 4g band. So yes you can switch between each phone, but I personally would keep the galaxay s 2 hahah

Unlocked phone on vzw?

Hey guys, just curious, as I'm having withdrawals from actually having a decent phone that doesn't make me want to use it as a hockey puck.
I have access to a tmobile Samsung galaxy s2, for a cheap price, if I were to unlock it, would it be capable of running on the Verizon network? Obviously with owning a d3, I have a sim card, would it work? Also, again out of pure curiosity, would an unlocked att phone work on our network?

It all depends on if the phones are capable of running on CDMA/EVDO. Do some research on the phones sorry I'm not much help

Google (your phone model) specs and see if the radio bands are ones that are supported by verizon.

No the SGS2 uses GSM and Verizon uses CDMA. Maybe someone would trade you phones?
Even if the phone has CDMA hardware like any Sprint phone, Verizon will only allow devices on their network if they are authorized for use on Verizon.

Using a Captivate as a pre paid phone

I am trying to set up a phone for a foreign exchange student. I just purchased the S3 for myself. I have an ATT captivate, rooted, not sure what ROM is on it now. I just ordered a T-Mobile sim card ($1.05). Can I put this sim into my captivate and buy the $30 pay as you go plan from T-Mobile (100min, unlimited text, unlimited data). Is there anything in particular I may have to change?
Thanks,
Mike
I don't see why it wouldn't work.
But I believe u will need to unlock the phone first. Use this Galaxy_S Unlock by Helroz.
And secondly, the Captivate on T-mobile frequencies will only be able to get the Edge network.

Yuck lol edge network drives me nuts.
You could go with Straight Talk if they have good service on your area (they would off the att network). The sim is 14.99 and the plan is 50/month "unlimited" everything.
H20 is based off of at&t its 40

Straighttalk better deal. But you have to order some card online. H20 sins sold for 10$ at retailors and for 2 gb data 60$ not 40$,
