hi guys, I'm a total noob so please be gentle. I successfully updated my tab to gingerbread using the guidelines from android dev thread, the only problem that I have encountered so far is I cant receive or send mms.
I added apn already, put in all necessary info but its still not working. I tried to delete the apns then clicked on reset to default but nothing shows up.
oh I found another problem. when I update my Samsung apps it says error code 4002.
hope someone can help me. thanks!

**I know I'm creating a new thread when there is already a consolidated thread for this model**
I've been searching the net for the answers to my problems and i've often found myself founding my key words mashed up in the middle of the Samsung Anycall thread and trying to look for the answer a few pages after intertwined topics. Please create a subforum for SHW-110s, I've spent two days scanning the entire thread and to be honest my brain stopped working after the third page I've read.
Enough about my ranting, here are my problems... I got this phone but all I got from the person who gave it to me is its charger and its case.
1. This korean phone has been known to have the "Invalid Sender" problem thru sms texting right? The fix I've found was to either install the handcent or edit your number. I can't find a phone with such feature and I've installed handcent but it won't send the message at all. I'm in the Philippines and I'm using a Globe Telecom Prepaid Sim. I've tried a Smart Telecom Postpaid Sim Card and the handcent app works fine. I don't want to switch sims, please help...
Solved
According to my friend most Sony Ericsson Cybershot phones have the function to edit your SIM
2. I bought a USB Data Cable, even downloaded Kies from the samsung site but everytime I connect my phone to the PC it tries to install it automatically and it fails everytime. I don't know if I'm missing something, I cannot find this problem being posted by anyone so far.
Solved
thanks to Kr0c0. donwloaded Kies from the korean site instead
3. Is it possible to use the DMB TV in the Philippines?
4. Is it possible to have Swype on my Korean phone? (I'm sorry, i've found this problem posted but I wasn't sure if the response (after several other posts) is the one I should follow, either that or I just couldn't process anything further anymore.
Solved
thanks to Kr0c0. should be possible thru update
5. Can I get Social Hub?
Answered
precious_mew seems we're stuck with the apps currently.
6. How big is the downloaded file if you choose to upgrade through Kies? Does it affect the 3G capabilities of the phone?
I would really appreciate any help. I sooo love this phone and would like to make use of it properly. Thanks in advance ^__^
Model: SHW-m110s

Hi I'll try to help you out. But I'm no expert. I agree a small corner for the m110s on this forum would be nice.
1. Apparently the iphone is one such phone which can edit your number. There must be one some where?
2. Had this problem too until I installed kies and usb drivers directly from the korean download site.
kr.samsungmobile.com/service/support/down/anycall.software.view.do?modelCd=SHW-M110S should do it.
3. Not sure about this. The Philippines has a dmb service?
4. Firmware DI03 has english swype only. Froyo should bring already korean swype too. When you get kies working your phone should update to this.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

1. So far, none of the people I've known owns an unlocked iPhone.
2. Thanks !! will try to download it right now
3. It doesn't work so I don't think we have DMB service...
4. Can I just directly upgrade to Froyo? are there dangers to that? (I'm not yet quite familiar with roots and flashes)
We should wait for korea to update to froyo (hopefully soon) The froyo available now is for the i9000 which looks the same as our m110s but uses slighty different hardware (like the dmb stuff).
Kies is the official way to upgrade our phones normally but I think you should take another look at the mega m110s thread stickied here. I'm in korea so have had no troubles upgrading firmware but some people out of korea have had problems with their 3g service and possibly other things after upgrading.
Cheers

uhhh upgrade to what? so Froyo is not yet available for Korea but we can upgrade? ermm >___<
I've installed the Kies from the korean website and I have it up and running, I did some progress so far, it says "Connecting the device" but it keeps on doing that forever... I might still be missing something.
Did you pull down the notification bar on the phone and select connect by usb? Some older firmwares were picky like that. Also turning usb debugging on or off in the usb settings on the phone makes a difference too.
And I mean as far as updating goes. The last time an update for eclair 2.1 came for the m110s was mid september. But it only updates through kies so I assume you can upgrade to that now and froyo when it comes out.

Should i be on the USB debugging mode or not? I mean, my laptop tries to install the new device and fails...
Even with Samsung Kies and the USB driver from the korean website, I'm still unable to connect my phone to my PC T__T
Here is the message I'm getting:
Device driver software was not successfully installed
SAMSUNG Android Modem Ready to use
SAMSUNG Android Networking (CDC/EEM Ethernet) Drivers (WDM) Ready to use
USB Mass Storage Device Failed
SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface Failed
SAMSUNG Android Networking (CDC/EEM Ethernet) Drivers (NDIS 5) #2 Ready to use
I've connected yay !!
Now all im missing are Social Hub, Swype, DMB TV and the updates... also to send sms message thru handcent T__T

I'm also a SHW-M110s from the Philippines. You can just download the apps you need from the Android Market like Facebook, Twitter etc. As for the Swype, it will be available once you've updated your phone. I think the DH-07 has the swype. were you able to install the Handcent SMS?
I installed handcent but it wont send my messages thru Globe.
I'm thinking of upgrading the firmware... are there any dangers to that? I've read some 3G problems... Since you're from the Philippines, what can you suggest?
Have you set up an APN yet? If not, contact your carrier. It'll have the potential to help resolve your text message situation.

APN?
I am able to use handcent using a different provider (Smart Telecom)...
I can text via normal messages but I need to specify the sender everytime
With my current firmware, should I upgrade it to get swype or will it just cause more problems?
Bump, still unsure if I should upgrade... please advise
this post can be deleted.
updated the first post for people who will encounter it in the future. Still got remaining questions though...
Help !! ^__^
At first i thought i got robbed and got myself a fake china phone. I then surfed the web & found out it was a real Galaxy S with a different culture. Well these are my workarounds:
1.) Upgrade to Froyo
2.) Edit your Sim "my own number" to send messages using any phone with sim management
3.) Install Launcher Pro and hide all those korean apps
4.) Install Handcent SMS for 160 char texting
5.) Manually create an APN for web browsing using 3G network
6.) Ignore all the korean characters you see (ringtones,etc.. etc..) hehe! besides, all the apps running on international galaxy S will definitely work on our korean model.

Hey Everyone, I'm from the philippines too and I somewhat messed up my m110s when I flashed it, now I don't have any service on my phone. would anyone of you know how to fix this or if need a modem file, which one can cater to philippine networks which would be compatible with the m110s?
thanks!
Noob Alert...
Hi all,
I am new to android but I used to mod my motorola V3 and also jailbreak my iphone so I am not a complete n00b
Thing is I just flashed [ROM] Release: I9000XWJM9 - MultiCSC(s) Europe to my phone. It is a Spanish i9000 GT galaxy S. The flash went well and the phone works, it is fast and smooth. But now I have some issues.
1. There is no 3G, (I can make calls but no data)
2. I can't send text messages (I can receive them but not send them)
3. Cant' root it - I have gone through the process several times, it says rooting phone, but then in applications there is no superuser logo. I downloaded Titanium backup to restore my apps and it says that the phone is not rooted???
Where have I gone wrong?
Drew
Did you create the APN settings?
you need to configure the APN before you can get 3G and MMS

Hi and thanks for your reply. No I didn't create the APN settings, I thought it was something to do with carrier settings. Could you please post me a link to information on how to do this...
Any thoughts on why I can't root my phone?
Update: Thanks for the tip, I did a quick search and located the APN settings for my carrier. I still can't root my phone though which is strange. It goes through the motions but there is no superuser icon????
[Resolved] Flashing different rom
Thanks for the help, I downloaded the same ROM but from samfirmware and then I flashed it using a generic CSC file and I had no problems rooting it.

hi..i have the same problem. I do not have the 3g in my phone i dont know why. can you tell me what rom did you install?
Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S from Sasktel sometime in mid-october. This is the first android phone I've ever had, and after a few days i decided to try to root it. The rooting process went fine and I had absolutely no problems with my phone. However, i eventually decided to try a custom ROM. I went with Darky's Raw Steel Edition from this forum but after i successfully installed it (v2.2) I could no longer connect to the data network. I could still make calls and receive texts, but any sort of internet connection wouldn't work. When version 3.0 of the rom came out I installed it but had the same problem. I thought my best option at this point would be to just restore to the stock 2.1 firmware. I wasnt exactly sure what my phone had been on when i bought it, but i decided that I9000XWJM9 from samfirmware would be my best bet. I flashed with odin, and now I have no network connection at all! Does anyone know what my problem could be? Thanks so much to anyone who can point me in the right direction!
Find your apn settings from your provider or google it and it is is this forum aswell where theres list of them just enter your apn settings for your provider manually.
Go to www.tweaker.com and get the settings for ur network

Thanks for the help! However, I'm having some trouble finding the APN settings for sasktel, if anyone could post a link or something that would be great. And gadgetcheck, I think you gave me the wrong link, it takes me to like a media site with nothing about APN settings as far as I can see.

the SaskTel i9000m stock firmware is JH2. If you're going to use a custom rom, use Doc's. That's what I'm currently using, no issues whatsoever (also on SaskTel in Saskatoon ) If you need the apn settings, let me know, and I'll just copy them out for you, but I'm pretty sure Doc's rom already has them, as I never had to add them. Though maybe they just carried over from my JH2 install?
Dear all, i was running imilka's AOSP ICS v08 and I got error of saying first SMS not sent as most users do. Then I read something about this error here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23339241&postcount=2403
So i tried to update the SMSC myself by trying the *#*#4636#*#* with the SMSC of Three Australia and supposes to be "+61430004010"
but it does not work, and now i cannot even send SMS with my mobile, but i am still able to receive SMS.
Today I update the imilka CM9, i thought the new rom and full wipe will get me going again, but it does not. I am now still not able to send SMS.
If there anyone here can help? Of course I am using Galaxy Note now with imilka CM9 V1
thanks very much
Kind Regards
Dennis
try to download go sms from market and if within you wont be able to send messages, so then something wrong with settings or try to remove sim card, put it on the other phone, send sms from that other phone and later put back sim card to your note
Give this little tool a try.
Thanks for the reply, it was definitely setting, as I tried other Apps, and it failed.
But your method works, i put it back to my Tmobile G2 (Desire Z), at first, it was not able to SMS neither, then I tried update the SMSC in my G2, and it seemed updated. Send SMS to myself again. it worked. Put the SIM back to my Note, everything working. I am not gonna mess with this SMSC or other thing again. so annoying.
thanks for your help. I am glad i keep a old phone around.

Thanks for the link, but since i have got it working, i dont really wanna mess it up again.
I put the Three Australia SMSC in your link and it returned me some number to put it. Would you know what exactly does it do for the conversion?
Thanks
Dennis
Yes. You insert the number you get from the little page here:
*#*#4636#*#*
Phone Information
SMSC: (type here the number) and hit 'Update'.
HI, I recently had my sprint galaxy s3 flashed to metro pcs by a local phone dealer. The flash was great, I have 3g internet, sms, etc. I was also able to send and receive multi media messages but my lil brother accidentally deleted to the app that allowed me to send multi media messages. The name of the app is AndroidMessaging.apk, and now that I tried to re-install it, I get an error message saying, " Failed to validate phone, could not validate this phone's installation. Please bring the phone back to the dealer you had it flashed", and I am trying to see if there's is another way of fixing the problem without having to go to the dealer again. I also tried to fix the problem by downloading Go Sms Pro and i filled APN configuration manually but I still cant seem to send and receive mms. Please help me, Thank you.
You might get more help posting this in your phones section. Your in the hero CDMA section right now.
