[Q] Serious BT stereo problem - HTC Incredible S

Hello everybody!
I bought myself an Incredible S yesterday. Though to my surprise I'm having issues with the bluetooth quality with my stereo handsfree; Sony Ericsson MW600. Whenever I'm at the higher sound levels, every sound is accompanied with a clinging static which is VERY annoying. Now, I have used these stereo hansfrees with numerous other phones; Xperia X10, iPhone 4, Xperia Arc and.... HTC Legend. It worked flawlessly with all of those phones (yes, I've had quite a few phones the last 12 months). And since it worked so great with HTC Legend, one might wonder why it works worse on a phone released almost 12 months later (huge time difference).
I'm going to visit my shop that I bought the unit from. They have a demo unit of the incS. So I hope really badly my phone is DOA.
I had the problem in android 2.2 and now also in 2.3.
Now please, if anyone of you have the MW600 or if you wish to comment, then please do so! I appreciate all the help I can get in this issue. For your information HTC customer support didn't lift a finger to help me. This is all Incredible!

I'm using MW600 aswell and haven't experienced any issues with the sound quality.
It worked fine with Froyo and it is working fine with Gingerbread.
The only issue I have is that the SRS enhancement or presets don't work with the Bluetooth headset.

Very interesting. I just visited my local shop and I tested my MW600 with another incredible S, DHD and Desire S. All of them had the issue. Nevertheless it was again perfect audio when I used the 3.5mm jack. The sound through the MW600 should be identical to the 3.5mm. But it was way of. You should also test your phone. Try listening to music with about 2/3 of sound level and then through the 3.5mm jack. There's a significant difference. Nevertheless I ditche my incS and chose an Xperia Arc. There's no issues with that unit.

All phones with HTC Sense have a poor bluetooth stack implementation. HTC doesn't use the default Android Bluez. They use an old broadcom bluetooth stack.
I'm hoping at least one of these recent Incredible S roms can implement the Bluez bluetooth stack.

Now that explains alot! But it wasn't like this with Legend, and I see people who complain about Desire which was released about the same time. Maybe you should exploit that somehow?
How it yet goes, I will keep my way out of HTC's path with Bluetooth until they fix it.

[q] htc desire headphones on sgs!!

hello all,
is there any way to make htc desire headphone with the remote controls work with our SGS? I like the online controls!!!
thank you in advance
edit: OR EVEN WITH MY OLD NOKIA 5800 WIRED CONTROLS? THEY WERE PRETTY PRACTICAL FOR CALLS/VOLUME/MEDIA CONTROLS
You have got to be kidding me...
There was a topic about it with identical name a week ago, and several better topics before that...
HTC use the same odd format as Apple i think, so the HTC headset probably won't work. My Samsung Jét and Nokia N95-8G headsets doesn't work on my HTC Tattoo, and the Tattoo headset doesn't work on the Nokia nor Samsung, however the Nokia and Samsung headsets can be used on either phone.

Disappointed with the incredible

So far have been very disappointed with my Incredible S. The phone is from Optus running:
Android 2.3.3
HTC sense 2.1
baseband: 20.2803.30.085AU_3805.04.03.15_M
Kernel: 2.6.35.9-g09f1d1f
Build number: 2.12.980.3 cl37872
I gave my wife my old HTC desire which is working better. Better sound, applications run better. I have had a few complaints from people who have called me that I sound like I am talking through a blanket (quiet). No issues with the Desire.
Talking Tom on the desire works great. On the Incredible S it has very bad lag and does not pick up that I am talking. Maybe once out of 10 times will it pick up that I am talking. This application is no big deal but it is an observation that for some reason my Incredible S is struggling compared to my Desire.
I have tried searching for some Gingerbread updates but have found nothing.
I bought the phone back home in Australia but am in Europe now so no way to return it. I will be back in Australia in about 7 months still within warranty so I am stuck with it for the time being.
Has anyone had similar experiences or are there any fixes out that maybe I have missed?
I have done a factory reset couple of days ago and no improvement was seen.
kind of sucks having an inferior product to my old HTC Desire which runs Froyo.
I forgot to mention that a couple of days ago I was speaking with someone and I could hear them but they could not hear me. Rang them back and same problem.
I have a feeling my microphone must be bad. I tried the voice recorder inbuilt in Gingerbread and the playback volume was pretty low when the volume was all the way up. Also the playback was not crystal clear and there was background noise.
Poor Call Quality and poor playback volume...
Exactly. You are right... I'm facing the same problem... 1st i thought may be the problem with my phone only or because of the network problem. I'm using this in middle east. Then i inquired about the phone and i came to know that 5 of my friends are facing the same problem and all of them are from India.
Very poor call quality and playback volume is also not clear. Having some noises in background.
Really really disappointed with HTC incredible S.
I mailed the HTC Customer care 2 or 3 times. tried all resetting and updates.
No use...
Please let me know if u find any solution for this.

Call quality issues for me too.
The only workaround is to use my Bluetooth headset Mw600 and then the call quality is fine for both sides.
From what I've found on some other forums, the noise cancelling microphone is causing this issue... Didn't find solution to this though.
No issues when listening to music when using headset.

The back panel started making some noise after 2-3 weeks. It's kind of annoying.
Might be something wrong with your units, I have none of those problems mentioned. I have optus incredible as well, all my software info matches yours

Mines fine, not problems with sound or playback, I too have an Optus incredible S. I have recently flashed it with a de branded virgin rom and I still have no problems with anything. If anything the battery life is alot better after de branding my phone but call quality is great.
same problems, I love my phone but i get ALOT of complaints that people cant hear me!!!
No mic problems here with my IS. Sound is crystal clear in 720p video recording. A friend rated 7/10 of my voice over the call.
Running Gingerbread Android Revolution HD 1.0.1 and MDJ's Unity v1 kernel.
Had same problem that people complained about not hearing me. Was just dirt in the hole for microphone, cleaned it with a needle and now its working great ;D

maybe there's just first in the mic hole or you're covering it with your fingers or you have a case that covers it.
I have dust under the screen. It's very, very annoing. I have that phone for a month. I expected that issue from firs week. Sombady else?
No dust under my screen. Still no problems either.

my call quality is exceptional since updating to android revolution hd.
music playback is great too.
but to be honest, if talking tom doesnt work, you should really take it back for a refund...
Hyper dissapointed after update to 2.3.3!
There were only one time, where a friend complained about bad hearing.
Otherwise, i don't have any problems with the IncS - so far...
sorry to bump a old thread but has anyone found a fix to the talking tom problem? doesn't matter much but still.
all the "Disappoint" comments are from ppl who only have few posts in xda forum.
are they hired guns from apple or samsung etc?

Get in touch with the developers might be a good thing, or try different ROM's and see if it's working in any of them.

will give a non-sense ROM a try, the problem persists in all sense ROMs.

[Q] Stock headset

Okay, so i was out the other day and relised i had lost my original headphones while i was out. I use headphones daily and couldn't live without them.
Question is does anyone stock the original Samsung Headset with the PTT(push to talk) button on it? or maybe another manufacturer that works with the Ace.
Preferably I'm looking for standard rather than the in-ear pair.
Thanks in advance!
I've tested it with an original headset from LG (LG optimus one). And worked!
Maybe you should try buy a new one and test it before you actually buy it.
the pinout of samsung's stock headset is universal, you may use it on iPod, HP 4-pole audio+mic jack and in others, but not on nokia. nokia headsets follow a different pinout pattern, swapping ground to mic+shield. well, I did successfully converted a nokia headset to a universal one.
wait, I was lost there, but still, samsung's 3.5mm jack is universal. only nokia is an exception. hehehe. you may use any headset except for old iPod headsets and nokia headsets. iPod 4, iPhone 4 and newest ipods have the universal jack pinout configuration that shares with almost all of handsets.
Thanks for the replies guys. Done a bit of digging around and found a user on eBay selling original headsets for £3

I tried my old Sony Ericsson headset and the sound was so distorted. It was like the speakers were rattleing although the sound was so quiet...
anyways, as mentioned before, i've found a set on ebay and a reasonably good price of £2.20
Not sure if i'm allowed to link to ebay pages but here goes...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280795430244?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619
If I had a pound for every time i saw something sold as genuine on Ebay
We'll see what happens when they come, if they function properly ect... then at the end of the day i'm not fussed
Just got the set through this morning... Seems like stock, build quality is as good as my original, sounds is ok. and the button functions. So £2.20 well spent...
Thanks for your help guys

Bluetooth Quality...

I want to pose a question in regards to the Bluetooth quality for the new HTC One. I use my phone heavily to steam music, podcasts, and take phone calls over Bluetooth and have had varying results with my past phones. My Blackberry, HOX, and GS3 have very high quality audio over Bluetooth while my GS2 was trash.
Reading about the HTC One X+, many users reported horrible Bluetooth playback. Do we know if the One will follow suit? With such an audio centric device, I hope they took this into consideration. Unfortunately, this would be a deal breaker for me. Knowing how long it takes ATT to push out updates, I don't want to rely on that process either.
Anywho, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I would hope just as others who use BT to stream music that the quality would be good, especially since HTC is really pushing music quality with the ONE. But there is no real way of knowing until we all get to use it.
It has aptX, which is the best available in the market now. I have GS3 with aptX and it is quite good. I can tell the difference between BT w/aptX and wired IEMs, but the difference is not huge. Just a little more bg noise; probably would not notice in car.

what about BT headphones? would there be a huge difference there, or not a big enough one for it to be noticable?
BT headphoones or headset must support aptX as well to provide wireless sound quality almost similar to wired. Check the specs. When I flashed SGS2 first android JB leak firmware (that added aptX codec support to SGS2) I was shocked with the difference in sound quality it my headset with aptX support. Due to poor headphones preamp in SGS2 the BT headset preamp appeared much better and in pair with aptX the sound via BT is better than from minijack.

If you look at the One X+ issues you can see that the problem was generally for call/voice quality not for music quality. I really hope the call quality is fixed for the One. I returned my X+ because of the poor bluetooth call quality, and would have gotten one again if I had ever seen an update for it.
It sounded like the issue was fixed by some custom ROMs and was a software output level issue rather than a hardware issue, so it seems like HTC should have been able to fix this by now. /crosses fingers.

[Q] Bluetooth static with Acura Hands Free Link

I have an HTC One on Sprint. When I connect via bluetooth audio (which Acura calls "Hands Free Link") to my 2009 Acura TSX, I get constant short pops/cracks in the audio. This has not been the case (or I have simply not noticed it) with phone calls.
My HTC EVO 4G LTE worked quite well when playing music over bluetooth in the car. Same with an iPhone 4 (it actually had the best quality of all three).
My One also works well with other bluetooth devices. It only has trouble with the Acura.
Is my phone defective? Ideally, I'd like to test another HTC One in my car to help determine this. I know 4.2 has a new bluetooth stack, so that gives me some hope, too.
Same thing here with a JBL flip BT speaker.

Static Acura
My galaxy S3 does this with my 2013 tsx... Kinda pisses me off..Let me know if you find a fix
When I got my new MDX 2013 Model 2 weeks ago, the agent did state that not all phones will work completely perfect with their hands free system, only certain certified phones for Acura... Maybe this might be the problem, i don't konw.
