How to install stock LG Video Player on CM? - LG Optimus 2x

I tried tonnes of video players from the Market but none was as good as the stock one. I guess it utilizes the hardware better than the rest. I got no lags or delays with the stock LG player but get constant lags with VitalPlayer, Rock Player etc.
So I managed to get the apk of the stock LG player and tried to install it on my CM O2X. It failed. So I copied it to system/app and tried to install from there. No go. This is the error message I get :
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]
Any help guys?

of coz u cant, first, this is for 2.2.2, cm is 2.3.4, and cm dont use LG framework
if u want watch mp4 like the stock, install meridian from market

Taking a quick look... i think i can get this working as a normal non sys app once i've finished modding the LG camera app.
Plus just waiting for a stable cm release so i can test, i'll be porting all the LG apps to cm unless LG beats me to it with their 2.3 release soon?
-smc

I see. Alright thanks guys

+1 this app has the option of playing sound in 'surround'

[Q] GTalk doesnt have video - Cyanogen

Hi guys,
I've recently installed cyanogen on my IncS and thought that the Talk application has the new video option...ive flashed the latest gapps and the video option isnt there.
i thought this was odd as when i had HD Revolution Rom installed i could see the camera icons.
anyone come across this and fixed it?
Cyanogen 7.0 is based on 2.3.3.
Gtalk video is in 2.3.4, but I don't know if it's in the 7.1RC1 (think it needs a newer Gapps package than is listed on that thread).
The new Cyanogen RC1 for IncS is 2.3.4
I have a screenshot but i cant post outside links yet
From http://goo-inside.me/gapps
20110613: This package is designed for Android 2.3.4, and will not work on 2.3.3. It contains all of the applications updated for 2.3.4, but does not include the new Google Talk with video chat due to there being no compatible library available for non-ARM7 and non-neon board devices, from Google or another OEM.

So I guess we have to wait until there is an updated version that does work.
I noticed the same thing with rc1 of cm7. The camera option is not visible. I was surprised to find that it was on 2.3.4. It appears that miui latest is also running 2.3.4.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk
On the hd revolution tom I can the camera icon...never tested whether it worked though
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk
I tested video in Revolution HD but it didn't work properly, I saw the one behind computer, but he didn't see me...
If you are on CM7 RC or Nighties, Use this gtalk patch from Modaco.
Install the apk
run the app, patch the gtalk
uninstall the apk.
DONE!
didn't worked for me on wildfire....
i'ws looking for some good voice chat option for htc wildfire, found this but it just crashes if click on video option, and there's no voice option for me....
So, i tried that patch - it appears to have deleted my google account and now have no contacts - and now network data access
well its working beautifully on my inc s w/ cm7 nightly 15-50.
i actually factory reset my phone and reinstall the patch for couple of times, it never goes wrong. me and my girl use gtlk video often.
i dont know why funny problems happened on your guys phone.
The gtalk patch is working fine now, i just re-synced, re-setup my apn's and all is good.
Patch is working great

[Q] Stock Video Player

Hey guys
i flash ics roms daily and i cant settle on one of them because the stock ics video player cant play all formats, especially MKVs, and most play store video players cant do that either.
So i was wondering if there's a way to install samsung's stock video player in any ics aosp, aokp, ics stunner rom.I tried to install it but it says application not installed.I found it in Alba's tom which is ics so there has to be a way.
Thanks in advance,,,

No ways the samsung stock player gonna work in AOSP or AOKP unless some dev really gets hell bent on it and do some really hard sh3t code magic. And believe me the devs have more imp things to do than going for this ;-)
Cheers!
P. S. U tried moboplayer? Or mxplayer after downloading their requisite codecs???
BOOMED from my BOMBASTIC NOTE
Thanks
Thanks you for replying, i really appreciate it.
I was actually just trying out mx player and it did work almost perfectly,
but i could not download mobo's codecs, guess its their server or host,i dont know what its called.
Thanks A Lot

I highly recommend installing ICS ROM until official ICS update

I just installed the AOKP build 35 ICS ROM and wow, everything runs so smoothly compared to the Honeycomb stock ROM. EVERYTHING. Totally worth losing all my apps and settings for 1-2 months until the official update arrives. If you use the browser a lot (and type a lot) you should really think about doing this. It's like a CPU and RAM upgrade. Like a totally new (faster) tablet.
Yes, AOKP is great, but you didn't have to lose apps and settings - you could have just used Titanium Backup, and backed up literally everything . Good thing to know if you wanna do more experimenting before official ICS.

It's tempting, but I use my tablet to have my son Skype with my in-laws, so I'm stuck waiting forever for the official ICS.

i wouldn't do that.
ics and hc are two dirrent OS versions. porting apps from one OS to another would result in quite a few FCs.
so if you ask me "losing" your apps is the correct way to go...
I don't think that's entirely true mate. If you are talking about user apps and their data, it wouldn't make any problems, as long as the apps that were on Honeycomb are compatible with ICS, and 99% of them are. Not only apps, but he could have restored their data too, such as game progress, etc, without any issues...
Think of it this way, official upgrade from Honeycomb to ICS does a similar thing, and lets you keep user apps that you had on Honeycomb. I know this is true because i did it and kept all my user apps, when i was upgrading Asus Transformer Prime, that i had for testing purposes. There were zero issues with them.
Restoring system data and settings is another thing, i wasn't suggesting it, as that would most definitely cause problems.
It's the apps and their settings (and data) that matter most for me. And for anyone I guess... So it's good to know. Thanks.

AOKP and P5 ICS roms for p7310...can I switch back and forth between these roms using cwm without wiping?
step by step
Is there a step by step guide if how I can get this ICS up and running? From where
did you download the image for the Galaxy Tab 8.9?
I don't think so.
Here's the short version:
1) install CWM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
2) wipe data, cache partition and dalvik cache (advanced menu)
3) install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648561
4) enjoy your new tablet

Brilliant, thank you so much, I will try it the next couple of days. Just wondering if there is a way to store the current original Honeycomb image, so that I can restore it in case there is some warranty issue?
Many thanks!
Yes, make a backup after you install CWM. You will have to restore this and also the stock recovery software if you're going for the warranty.
I've been trying to install ICS on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and have been unsuccessful even when changing the update-script to avoid assert errors. I'm at the point where I get a Status 0 error when trying to install aokp_p5_build-35.zip.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm a noob with Android but experienced in iPhone area. I'm using CWM 5.5.0.4 recovery.
Sorry, no. I also had a similar error (6 I think) but that was because of me editting the script in Wordpad and saving it with carriage returns. I have no idea what the errors mean or where you can find any info related to this..

The LTE 8.9er Tablet has different hardware to the 8.9er regular tablet (p7310/p7300), the custom roms from the 8.9er tablet didn't work on the LTE tablet.
The lte tablet has a quallcomm soc the regular 8.9er has a nvidia tegra 2. Look here for a ICS for your lte tablet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1575
I installed CM9 yesterday on my tab. Ihave CM9 ob my SGS+, too. Thats the reason, why i installed CM9 and not AOKP or another ROM.
What i like:
- The performance is faaar better and smoother than on Honeycomb Stockrom
- In the Image Gallery a can disable the bottom bar so the full screen is used
- Better Taskswitcher
- IMHO better Contacts-App
What i dislike
- I have to say, Samsung optimized the Apps very well for the tablets that means:
- Better music player than Apollo
- Better calendar than in Android 4
- No Polaris Office
- No Keyboardsupport for the Samsung keyboard
Ok now lets see what Samsung deiver with there own Android 4. So i can copy some apps to CM9 .
Im waiting every day to have the confirmation that ICS would be ready
and I know I would start to wait until one of our chef's cook a proper ROM
I tried the different ICS and they look the part, is fast, and there is some nice improvments everywhere, however more than the camera not working,
what is holding me in Honeycomb is touch wizz
lol
don't get me wrong, I truly hate skins, and I like very slim and lightweight roms
but the app eBook is the killer app in my tab.
Until there is a good way to port it to ICS I will hold still living in the past..
(honeycomb was launched in feb 2011 why feels that long?)
Honeycomb isn't a problem by itself. The slow hardware on the 8.9 and Touchwiz make it a problem
Short Question: I have rooted my tabled and installed CWM Recovery and a port of an Cyanogenmod 9 ROM.
What happens when the ICS ROM will be released official by Samsung. What steps will I need to get these official ROM. Can I unroot and reset my device to the normal ROM or install the new official rom by manual download and installing over CWM Recovery?
When you made a backup of the stock rom after you installed cwm and bevor you installed the CM9 rom, you only have to restore the backup an update your tablet. otherwise you have to install the stock rom via odin.
About the "Smoothness" of Honeycomb and ICS. ICS is very smooth, but not every app. Quickpic stutter, the AOSP gallery is very smooth. Google Chrome is stuttering and shows me white screen when im scrolling to fast, the ICS Browser is smooth and faster.
So i thin there is something more than tegra or honeycom the problem.
maybe it is something like the right h264 codec for video.

[Q] flash player for cm10 android 4.1.2

any one get flash player working with CM10 or PAC Roms??? i tried all flash player listed for ICS non of them worked, the result any browser will stuck when i try to run flash player.
You try with slim rom ?
Have you tried searching for a solution? Google brings up tons of results --> https://www.google.ca/search?q=adobe+flash+jelly+bean
i tried all these flash player ,the one for ICS non of them worked. also i tried them on slimbeans,CM10 and PAcman roms. flash player work fine on CM9 android 4.0.4 but not on 4.1.2.
This specific method (link) claims that Flash only works in Dolphin Browser HD 8.5.1 (specific version) and it may also be laggy and/or buggy. Probably your best option, I would think.
Honestly, Flash is just a thing of the past, and it needs to die already. Most major Flash-enabled sites have switched over to HTML5 already, and those who haven't probably will soon once they notice their analytics are dropping off. Mozilla is working on a SWF player for Android, and I actually disagree with it. The web needs to move on from Flash. When these tools are made to keep a dead format going, nobody is going to innovate for a better future. HTML5 is worlds beyond Flash, so why even bother with the obsolete and cumbersome product?

Although it was not possible to adjust this, it is still a bug that nobody could solve completely, some ROM can still shoot, but always with a problem such as the Slim Bean (here is the problem and the audio quality of the footage is still bad )
One more thing, could post the link of ICS Camera that you downloaded?
Sorry my english

I have the CM10.1 Nightly ROM on my P970 V20j and the camera works great for taking pictures. Recording videos works "ok". It records a little jumpy (lower frame rate) for some reason. Can play back the videos without issues.
I should also add that the first few times I ran the camera (either taking pictures or videos) it caused several "force-close" and even caused it to reboot into recovery a couple times. Since then, it has worked fine without causing force-close, accept for the lower frame-rate video recording I mentioned.

I am on v20q rom with v30c baseband (cm10 installed over) installed by smart flash tool, now if I was to change the rom and baseband do you think it'll work?
Suppose it's worth a try seems though I will do a nandroid backup before I try
Oh I just realized v20j is either Canada or China and I'm in United Kingdom would this make a difference?

Yep, I'm in Canada.
I'm not sure if it will work as I'm still pretty new to all this Android rooting and hacking. Learning fast though...
I don't want to tell you I think something should work if it ends up messing up your phone...lol. I just wanted to let you know what I have and how well it works in comparison.

lol thank you, well I will try it on my own back if it goes wrong it's my own fault ^^ but I know I can just revert back to my original phone state from a nandroid backup if you don't what that is it's basically Clock work mod based recovery which backup the entire phone everything setting etc... the only thing it didn't revert back the last time I did it was the base band lol so I just re flashed only the base band and it doesn't wipe so the phone was back to normal

Yeah, I've been using titanium backup which has worked well so far.
Be warned, CM10.1 Nightly is not without it's own glitches... Certain apps require being moved to the internal memory so they don't get uninstalled when ever the phone re-boots.
I'm still searching for the most stable 4.2.2 ROM for the Black. Seems there are a few up now that might be worth trying out (Pacman and Mackay ROM's)...
I am happy with CM10.1 and thank those here on Xda who worked hard on it to get it working as smoothly as it does. :good: I don't really have any issues with it, other than some minor things.
Just an update on my previous post:
Recording video would still cause FC and then reboot (occasionally into recovery).
Flashed the latest Mackay 4.2.2 ROM (v2.7.6) yesterday and even though the video recording still crashes after a random amount of time, it no longer causes reboot. Also the camera in Mackay ROM has auto-focus which didn't work previously for me with CM10.1.
As long as I can take decent pictures, I'm happy. I rarely ever use video recording on my phone anyways.
And how about getting the miui camera apk for cm10.1? :good:

I can be wrong, but where i know so far, the developer of rom MIUI here on xda for p970 dont seed his job, because he dont get this things on other roms, he modifys in his own way. But is a great alternative, miui camera works excelent, tested yesterday and love it!

I have just got nemesisX rom with toccata kernel 0.3 overclocked to 1.1ghz and bravia engine2 and build prop tweak etc...
Its really good also the camera is so smooth on hd recording and the quality is excellent with no lag what so ever but the camera has always been good even when not rooted or on stock rom, still really good its just any jelly bean rom
Can't launch camera
As many of you know camera lags and crashes on p970 on all cyanogenmods ( i tried like 20 variations of it all had same ) Video recording doesn't last more like 3-20 secs till it stops, and then camera stops working and phone can't connect to camera unless you reboot your phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091599 i downloaded all cameras from here, but i don't know how to install them.. I unzip .zip file and inside i get 2 folders "system" and "META-INF", inside meta inf i find some folders and .RSA .SF and ,MF files. Inside system i find .apk file (doesn't install alone), camera.tegra.so this file and some other files. So can you tell me where should i put those files so i can install camera? i feel like omg, so many files with no description how to install...
The file isn't to extract. Just flash it through recovery.
did someone tried the 4.3 cam? everytime i take a picture the screen freezes, so i have to choose front cam, then switch back to back cam in order to get the app work normally
is there any fix for this?
