Just wondering if any of you have experienced slow download speeds while on WiFi. On my PC I get speeds of 20-25mbps while on my tab I get 500kbps at best. This is happening on both my Verizon Galaxy tab and my Captivate. I tried setting the router to broadcast an N signal only, as I had seen this could help. So far, no dice.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Not really. Using a local proxy I just got a little more than 19 megabits with Speedtest. Also, using an ftp server on the tab i've seen up to 25 megabits...

Hmm, yes those are the kinds of speeds I should be seeing. On the phone, on the cellular network and not WiFi, I get 5-6mbps. So, it is obviously something with the hardware configuration.
Well, I managed to solve this problem. In addition to the tinkering I had done earlier, with channels and such, I took the signal from mixed, and N only, to G only. On G only, I am seeing speeds of 10-12mbps. Obviously, I am much happier with 10-12mbps over the .5 I was getting earlier.

Anyone experienced their revolution hanging for 20-30 seconds before going to a web page or performing a Google search? Seems my phone does it constantly and a friends does as well. He's on the stock release and I'm rooted with decrap.
I've noticed that my data stream is a little unstable being in a 4G area. I stream lots of music in the car and 4G doesn't seem to nearly as stable as 3G...with similar signal strength...especially if it auto-switches from 4 to 3, then back. I've put it in 3G only mode and it's more stable.
Randomly notice this as well. There have been 4g issues for a while now, but my fascinate seems to load pages faster when both are on wifi.
Whoops, forgot to mention that I am in a 3g only area. I have a tbolt and revolution, constantly going to the tbolt for data. Kinda disappointing.
Have this issue as well... But we are having network issues in our area which makes data unusable for everyone.
i've got this issue and i live in a 4g dense neighborhood in los angeles. had it since day 1. very disappointing.
Any fix for this? I have the same issues in the riverside ca area. Data throughput seems to be fine netflix and hbogo stream perfectly.
My guess is that a radio fix will have to come from LG to help 'stabilize' the data connections for 3G, 4G and auto-switching between them. Once in 4G (or 3G), data integrity is good for me.
Decrap has a known 3G slowness issue, if you go to the last 2 or so pages of the thread in development you'll see some chatter about it
thecubed is releasing an update early next week
If it's really bad, I'd suggest switching to the stock rom for a bit till Decrap 1.2 comes out
I'm rooted with stock ROM and having the issue. Tried my SIM in two other revos with the same issue.
The issue is indeed confirmed, as I have the same (infuriating) problem on my unit also.
Hopefully by the end of next week I should have a fix. I believe it lies in the way that LG bonds the 3g and 4g interfaces together to provide a single "cellular data" interface to Android.
However, I could be wrong, but either way I'll be on to something
Woot... You do some damn good work.
awesome cubed U rock. This is for the wifes phone so I'm going to wait until there is a fix before I root it.

Has anyone else been having problems switching from 3g to 4g? Mine gets stuck on 3g sometimes and I have to do the airplane mode trick to get it to do anything. I can't even send text messages. I live in Hollywood so I don't know what the problem is..

Same here.. I am in NE Ohio, and traded from a Thunderbolt where LTE was more constant, but even when switching out from WiFi to 4G/3G there is some lag time. The Thunderbolt Radio had to be flashed separately but was tons better.
Firstly, when I'm not using wifi my internet seems awefully slow. I try and use it when the signal is on G and about 2 or 3 bars, but it takes forever to load pages. It also takes ages to load the facebook news feed. Any ideas?
I have heard about ICS, but I don't know if my phone is actually running this. How do I find out?
Lastly, what is LTE? What does it stand for? Does it make the phone any better? How do I find out if my note is the LTE version?
Yes, you have only got 2.5G, not a 3G/HSPA signal. Check your phone network settings to ensure your mode is set to AUTO and not GSM only. Check your manual.
As for LTE, google is your best friend.
I have found out that LTE stands for long term evolution, but how do I know if my phone is the LTE version?

This what LTE stands for
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G
Since you don't know what LTE is, I would assume you don't have it at your locale, i.e. there is no point knowing whether your Note supports it or not, am I right?

You've used 'i.e.' where you should have actually used 'therefore.' Let's not try and be clever. All I wanted to know was if my phone was the LTE version. It is quite a simple question.
Maybe there is no point in me knowing, but I am just interested. Your comment was of no use.

The LTE version is the I717 model, not the N7000, which is the international HSPA version.
Did you get your connectivity speed back up to 3G?
Hi Joe
So are there any I717 models issued in the UK or is it mainly for other countries?
Well I have done, yes, but even with H signal (which I think is 3G?) my internet is still very slow on some websites. Just for example, it took a good 5 minutes to try and load the xda forums yesterday.
With wifi on everything is super fast and after doing a speed test I think it achieved 9mbps, but with 3G it only managed 1mbps.
Just another point. I used to use my iPhone as a hotspot and the speed of the internet on my laptop was really fast, I think it was running at around 5mbps.
This just seems a bit strange. It's almost as if something isn't working properly.
Bump.

Can you create a hotspot with the Note & check the browsing speed?
I'm trying to determine if this is a phone issue or sprints network, but I'm leaning towards the phone. When connected to LTE and trying to watch a video on YouTube, it will buffer like normal but then after a while it will stop. Like there's no activity on the down/up arrows. There is more than enough speed here to stream HD (15 to 20 mbps). The video will stop and sit there waiting for more data, and it will briefly download some and then stop again.
This creates an extremely frustrating user experience since my cable company throttles YouTube so much that HD playback is just about impossible on wifi and when on sprints LTE network it doesn't seem to work properly. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. It drives me crazy. I'm not sure what my speeds are but it is not a speed issue. I'm leaning towards the network.
It's definitely not the phone, I've had that issue on my S3 also. I think it's YouTube myself, even on my home internet it buffers with 50mbps download speed when trying to watch a video in 1080p.
I'm also leaning to network. I'm pretty sure this is how it goes down.
Phone: Aight, homeboy wants to watch something on YouTube. You with me Sprint?
Sprint: HURRDURR HOW I NETWORK DURR
Phone: Just.....just connect. Please, for the love of God, connect.
Sprint: OKIE DOKIE, I CONNECT. I DO GOOD.
Phone: DUDE, it just cut out! Download! Download!
Sprint: DURRRRRR I ACCIDENTALLY THE NETWORK.
Something like that.

Isn't it a violation if contract if they throttle your speeds? I'm sure it specifically says unlimited LTE, which means you are allowed to stream.
I'm actually trying to get rid of my contract so I can switch to t-mobile. Is there any way I can do that without paying an ETF? I rarely get speeds higher than a tenth of a megabit per second.
Hello,
I tried to search the threads, but i did nit find the information i was looking for, if i did miss this somewhere please point me toward the correct thread and excuse me for this thread.
I was on AOSIP and untill the latest update i was golden, but since the latest update my 4g data transfer speeds are terrible, i litterally see the pictures build as i was the case on old dial-up connections.
I formatted the phone and cleanflashed chroma because i used that before with no problems, but also there is have the slow 4g speeds. i tried resetting my apn settings but to no avail.
I'm on the dutch t-mobile network and thought that the problem is because of the wifi calling.
All data on 4g is slow Streaming music, video, webbrowsing....... the lot.
am i the only one and do i need to RMA my phone or is it somethin known and can somebody help me fix this.
thanks in advance

sounds like the issue is with your local provider, not your actual phone. if your local network has many people on it, it will reduce speeds. the more people, the slower speeds will be.

then check your apn. you can be using an older apn, or it might not bd properly entered. that can cause reduced speeds as well.

Mine slow in Houston on Verizon. Don't know if throttled but shouldn't be. APN #s on Google different from what on stock Nexus 6.
Well since the release of 5.1.1, band 12 has been opened up on T-Mobile. Chances are that you are on it now instead of the typical band 4.band 12 is slower but way more reliable and gets through buildings better than 4.
For instance, on 4 I was able to easily get up to 60mbps, but on band 12 I can't break 20. So I would say it's the carrier instead of your device.

thanks for all the tips guys, but no succes, there are no other apn's and if it is related to the 12 band in stead of the 4, the probably don't support that here in the Netherlands yet.
will try to find an older build and hope it is fixed then.
Thank you all for the replies, it was an error at t-mobile they accidentally stopped my 4G subscription, what are the odds it falls together with me flashing a rom.

I've been noticing slower than usual LTE speeds lately on my Nexus 6. I'd normally get 45+ Mbps but Speedtest app has been showing 15. What fixed it for me was going into the APN settings and changing the APN protocol to include IPv4. For me, without IPv4 would give Spotify issues. I recently flashed the System image which probably changed it back to IPv6 only (which is the default for some reason). As soon as I did this my speed went back up from 15 to 45. Switching the protocol between IPv4 and IPv6 was consistently affecting my LTE speed. Setting it to IPv4/IPv6 works as well.
Hello guys,
I just noticed my LTE speeds were horrible (2.24 M/b download/2.03 M/b upload via internet speed test). My coworker who is using a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon is achieving speeds well over 20 M/b. Neither of us are connected to WIFI. I tried to do some research to see if anyone else was having the same issue but haven't found anything on it yet. I got really good speeds on my S6 before the upgrade. I tried to phone in with Verizon's tech support and they weren't much help. I'm wondering if this might have anything to do with the DQA pop-up errors. Hoping an update would fix it but just wanted to isolate the issue if it's software or hardware-related.
Has anyone experience similar issues?

Anybody on Verizon able to check if their LTE speeds have been bad? I could just rule out that I am in bad area but since I have other coworkers getting better speeds just trying the diagnose the problem.
Thank you all,
Thought the dqa is for wifi only
I'd say they're pretty damn good on this phone.
47mb down
20mb up

Sometimes, this is due to a bad sim. Did you get a new sim for the S8?

I am using ATT but in Mexico and here ATT only use band 4 and 5 so i dont have any issue. I use ATT (roaming) every time I am there and I do notice that with my old phone (HTC 10) in my area this phone was constantly using band 30 and 4 and changing between them, so after I changed to the verizon s8 I lost band 30 and i was only able to connect using band 4 hence some times i was losing my LTE.
You should do the test with your old phone and LTE discovery and see what bands are you using most of the time and see if your verizon phone have them or not.
I am also having this issue after the update. Slow LTE speeds even when I am in line of site of a tower.
