Bell Stock FW
I've made a copy of my Bell Galaxy Tab FW using the Roto Backup technique which you're welcome to try. I haven't try restoring it to my device yet as I *just* got it and am still a little hesitant - so use at your own risk - I will assume no liability for what it does to your device. The image is version JJ7, rooted using z4root (you should just be able to use the same to unroot it), and unlocked using the hex edit technique (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843323 - or specifically, I changed byte 0x181469 from 01 to 00 using a hex editor - so you can just reverse this to lock it again)
I would also consider the alternative of restoring to the JJ3 "Provider Samsung P1000 Firmwares" available on samfirmware.com. After that, upgrade to the most current via Kies. I have not tried this and assume no liability for what this does to your device either.
Let me know if you'd like my Bell image and I'll send you a link to it.
Hi smd2008,
Would you please provide a download link for the 'Bell stock rom'? I need to revert back to stock. Much appreciated!
Hi do you mind if you please send me that bell firmware please thanks
Hi, I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the Bell stock firmware...
warranty issues.... please help!
Roto Backup of Bell Stock ROM
Hi smd2008 or any one,
Could you share your experience with the Roto backup of your Bell stock Rom. I have just tried to do a Roto backup for my Bell SGT ( UGJJ7 ) . When it came to adb pull commands, system returned an error saying the file was not exist.
I have tried both Z4Root and SuperOneClick 1.9.5 to root but both cases showing the same error. I had set the SGT USB to Debugging mode and mounted as R/W with Root Explorer. I used the Command mode in PC then followed the Roto backup scripts. I used the ADB files attached with SuperOneClick download. Occasionally, the connection of the SGT to PC might lost when I entered the -dd command for dbdata.rfs. But I managed to completed all the -dd and tar commands after re-starting the PC. It looks like the files were created but just couldn't find them.
Could any one advise how to correct the problem? Thanks.
Found the cause of problem. It was due to SDcard not mounted.
Could someone please inform how to get the SDcard mounted when using the command mode in PC to do Roto backup.

Hi All,
I Upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S to Froyo 2.2. All seems well but the performance does not seem all that great as well.
If i want to restore back to the Standard Manufacturer Firmware (i was on JG4) that comes out of the box with the I9000 what do i have to do? Any help here would be appreciated.
Download the firmware from samsung-firmwares and flash your phone with odin. There is plenty of flashing tutorials about to show you how to do it. Although if you managed to update to froyo then you properly already know how to flash it again

Hello. I managed to get the firmware from samfirmware.com for the original 2.1 (Asian version) but I couldn't get it to follow through. There would always be an error with regards to MD5 or something. What do I do? Thanks

I have the same problem as well, any helps here please?
Alot of the the DXJG4 firmware out there is corrupted.
So, try download DXJF4 from samfirmware.com (and flash with Odin with 513 pit) then uprade to DXJG4 through KIES.
NOTE: If KIES says "Device version's cannot be upgraded". Then you need to change your product code back to "XSO" (Search the forum on how to change product code.... about editing the nv_data.bin file)
My Flash history:
DXJF4-->DXJG4-->XXJPK-->DXJG4
I'm pretty new....
The firmware versions you guys are talking about are I hope, all "software" version and not real hardware chip revisions?
thanks
why dont you just flash your phone with 2.2.1 or 2.3.3(latest).....i know 2.2 is quite unstable FW but 2.2.1 will help a lots......I dont think you need to downgrade the phone back to the stock FW to solve any problem
Hi guys, im new to the sgs, but got some android experience. I was wondering if i can backup the whole ROM/system from my sgs (running 2.2.1 but its kinda branded from my carrier), so that i can flash the latest 2.3.3 or even 2.3.4 with odin and if for any reason i have to take it into warranty, i can reflash (preferably with odin) the stock branded rom that came with my phone. I would really appreciate, if anyone can tell me that, i searched around but couldnt really find this specific question. ive checked the stock ROM thread, and my version is there but im not sure its the branded one, cuz mine says 2011.02 and the one there says december 2010.
As long as you are rooted and have clockwork mod installed you can do a nandroid backup from the recovery menu I believe.
To restore you would have to flash the same base rom though, i.e. any 2.2.1 ROM then let it reboot then root it boot into recovery and restore nandroid backup.
I think that should work.
I'm sure someone wil correct me if I am wrong.
I wish I had done this when I bought by phone from Orange UK branded.
If you find out how to create an odin version please post here for others too.
ok thanks, i flashed the newer version over anyways.. thanks anyways
Is this correct?
Is this correct?
I have the same issue and after having mine sent into samsung for a successful repair (with a bunch of arguing and persuasion) I would like to back up this stock rom before continuing in order to avoid that situation again.
Mines a i9000M (bell version )
You always have to hack the ROM a bit to have a backup. Either you flash a custom kernel that'll give you CWM/nandroid backup or you root the ROM so you can do some adb magic.
There are also tons of stock ROMs floating around the interwebs, so with any luck you can find your own stock there.
Hello to all,
can anyone please advise, which file should i install that would suit my firmware best !
Model number:GT-I9000
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9000XXJVO
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9000BOJV8-CL273008 root DELL154 #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.BOJV8
I really appreciate if anyone could help me.
Thanks to all
Try the CF-Root kernel.
Sent from hell to take your soul
Thank you, Lunchbox for your fast reply !
But there are many CF-Root-Kernels.
Which one is the right ?
Sorry, but I am a newbie in Kernel-choice....
if you cant be bothered flashing kernels etc here is the the superoneclick method...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuaXu8kusvA
just follow that and you will be rooted, then get titanium backup and do a batch backup
Use CF-Root for the JPO firmaware you have. Each kernel has the firmware extension at the end of its file name.

Superoneclick I have testet, but without success .
Does kernel JPO really fit my kernel JV8 ??
Same problem here.
After updating a t-mobile branded I9000 to 2.3.3 via KIES (including wipe) my programs and settings are gone.
All data has been saved in TitanBackup. Unfortunatly TB needs root.
SOC didn't work, now I'm looking for alternatives.
Heard, that cf-root can fix my prob, but still got following questions:
will cf-root work on my branded galaxy?
which cf-root version do I need?
Screeningsleeper
Is there no solution available ?
As far as I know it is possible to root the Galaxy with the FuguRoot.
One thing that is still missing is the correct Odin flashable stock kernel.
Till now there is no kernel for the I9000BOJV8 available at Samfirmware.
I'll keep looking for the kernel.
Hoping to get a quick solution.

Same problem here, still waiting .
A week ago I flashed my. T-Mobile with. 2.3
5 JVS and rooted it. Now all is running well.
Yesterday, with the help of this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139050, I manage to turn my 6h eating battery brick, into a real rooted phone, thank you guys!

Just open Odin, put the tar file as PDA, put the phone in download mode, plug it in, wait for the box under ID:COM to go yellow and the 'added!' message and hit start. It will be done in a few seconds. Install superuser and busybox from the market to see if it works.
Like I said earlier it didn't work right away for me, superuser just FC'd on the first boot. Not sure if it was reflashing or rebooting that fixed it. Just a warning that some tinkering might be required.
OK, Problem solved.
Using the Easy rooting toolkit created by DooMLoRD from here.
Works like a charm for my Galaxy I9000 (PDA I9000BOJV8, Phone I9000XXJVO, CSC I9000GDTMJV7) wih german T-Mobile branding.
Rooting took 3 Minutes, no Problems with this.
Need root only for backup
Hello xda-developers.com
I need some help according to this title "Need root only for backup" I hope I am here correctly.
My problem is:
The Phone turns automatically off without doing anything.
I started it but it get's in a loading loop.
I don't want to make a reset until I backup the data from my phone contacts, pictures etc...
I read in an other forum that it is posible to flash only the kernel via ODIN CF-ROOT_....
to activate some mounts & storage - usb in recovery. So the PC can use the phone as USB device to copy all data from the phone to the PC. Is this correct?
If yes i will need the correct CF-ROOT for this version below i tryed to find the CF-ROOT for this version but I did not find it for my version. Can you help me please?
My phone can load the download mode.

Hi All
I'm interested in flashing my tab using the Overcome Gingerbread ROM, but before I do that, I would like to make a backup of my stock ROM should I ever need to revert back to it. I have a Euro tab which I purchased without a contract back in December, *#1234# displays the following:
PDA: P1000XWJMI
Phone: P1000XXJMA
Once I install the Overcome ROM, I assume this will over write all/most of the partitions, including the bootloader/recovery image with the cwm mod recovery image?
Will rothammer's 'roto backub' backup everything I need, including the original recovery image, to perform a full restock?
Apologies if this question has been posted before, I have tried searching for my answers and doing as much research as possible, but doing this for the first time, sometimes it's not always obvious what you should be looking for; Expert advise much appreciated
Gareth
Roto back up creates the files needed for you to flash with odin3 1.7. It will return your tab to stock. Be sure to put the files on your pc for safe keeping.
hi all
i picked up a used rogers galaxy tab 7".upgraded to 2.3.3 official via kies.
GT-P1000R
rooted it.
unlocked it.
now i wish to use the phone capabilities and have a few questions.
i see in a couple posts that you no longer have to flash a complete rom, just a modem.
is that info correct?
i see that the jm2 modem seems to work best with the rogers tab,so do i just flash the modem with odin and that gives me the voice capability.
or do i need to flash a complete rom(European)?
also there is no dialer program so where do i get that at?or does it come with the modem flash.
is there a better modem than jm2 for the rogers tab?or the bell i9000 modem?
i am in canada
thanks,jeff

Careful what you flash though, if it's from XDA any ROM should do you okay but Samsung official ROMs may contain locked boot loaders. Catch up on some reading before doing anything.
Also i suggest that you do a complete backup of your tab before flashing anything else so that you could revert back in case of issues. Stock ROGERS firmware is hard to find. And if you do a backup I wouldn't mind a copy of it as long as you keep your personal information out. As a matter of fact, what i am after is a un-rooted fully stock ROGERS ROM. As i have deleted my original backup, and would like to revert completely back to stock, I would be very thankfull if you could help. But none the less you should do a complete backup, something like the roto or nandroid backups.
Try the OVERCOME rom, it's a great place to start as a noob to flashing, they have very detailed tutorials and the ROM is good.
EDIT: And the OVERCOME rom does work with the bell i9000 modem just fine for phone calls. Although the volume on the tab is not the greatest for a speakerphone.

Thanks for the offer. But no need to go through all of that unless you can un root with something like super one click (fast and easy, but I don't think that will work for you). If your tab is still under warranty you might want to learn how to root and unroot and restock and such (its all covered in the forums). Otherwise I don't want you playing with your tab and have a "bad" flash trying to help me out. Do read up in the dev section before you start flashing custom ROMs.
That said if you do feel comfortable flashing and decide to make a backup for yourself I definitely wouldn't mind a copy.

hi
not scared of bricking the tab,i have been flashing samsungs for the last couple years, captivates etc.my last tab i did a supposed gps fix which ended in a bootloop.
i managed to get it back but with a modified 2.2 firmware.then kies would not let me upgrade to 2.3.3(unofficial firmware error)
my problems have always been actually returning to stock.
in recovery i have the orange clockwork recovery that has an option to do factory reset.will this take me back to unrooted and unlocked???
if so consider it done.
i will need direction to do a full backup after that.
jeff
Doing a hard reset will NOT un-root or re-lock your device (as far as I know). The factory reset will clear the data and cache and should not touch the system. You have to un-root your device using the method you rooted it with or something along those lines.
As far as a backup is concerned, creating a system backup has been covered in the forums before. There is plenty of detailed instructions on performing a backuphave a look at the Roto Backup method.
Just picked up a galaxy tab ( rogers )
gt-p1000r
firmware 2.2
all stock
no root
no unlock
I would like to "give back" something
for all the HELLp you guys have given via these forums
( i swear all my grey hair started once i dumped my blackberry and went samsung and found this site! )
Anyway
If you are still looking for the a copy of the STOCK system before I start to play...
I will try to figure out how to make a copy for you
