I installed the cynomod rom on an N1 with 2.3.3 android version.
Now i reïnstalled Sygic mobile maps 2010 V8.22 but i can't get a GPS signal.
Is sygic not compatibel with 2.3.3 or wat is the problem?

I used it a few times...so I can tell you that it does work with gingerbread...but can't recall the version number of sygic...I uninstalled due to lack of search engine that is tied in with maps like Google navigation/app.
it seems a common problem on (certain?) other phones running 2.3.3.
http://support.sygic.com/sygic
most of it seems like crashing issues, but i do seem to recall seeing a few GPS connectivity related issues.
fwiw, in on 2.3.4 and sygic works perfect for me. also, there was an update for the main app yesterday which fixed various bugs; try an update!

Have been using Iguidance GPS software for years and the lastest version that I have been using is 3.0. Easy to use, reliable and i love it.
However, after I upgrade to the new GPS rom, its seems some kind of bugs force the program shut off itself.
Anyone experience the same problem and have solution?
Mark
There is an update for the program that solves that. I had the same issue but updated with version 3.0.1 and it's fixed now.
Hi,
If you are using navigation software like:
- CoPilot
- Sygic Mobile Maps
- Sygic Aura
- Navigon
- iGo
- Or others
Please share your experience here. Let us know what you have found.
Does the GPS lock as expected?
Is it working flawlessly?
Don't forget to inform the software version as well.
Thanks.
Copilot works great. Locks quick and is accurate.
I own Sygic as well but the install / activation is too much of a pain to try as it was already activated on my N1
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Using AOSP GB 0.6 on my Nexus one.
Navigon FC at start.
Hope for an update soon
Sygic aura works perfect
Navigon also FC at start
Navigon dont work
Same thing for me Navigon (european version, I'm french) does not work on my nexus S (force close at startup).
Copilot seems to work fine even if I did not really test it yet
CoPilot running like a champ, but I'm still pissed off at how long they took to update it for Froyo.
I'm finding the built in app to be just fine for me.
Sygic Mobille Maps 10 wont't work on my NEXUS S
Hello NEXUS S owners,
I don't get Mobile Maps 10 working on my NEXUS S.
Installing is no problem, but it wont't run...
My S isn't Rooted yet, is that the problem?, or because there isn't a real SD card?
Sygic Aura 2.1 is running fine.
Any idees?
Sygic is excellent, just a little expensive. CoPilot works fine except that the maps are outdated.
CoPilot full North America 2.5 GB (purchased it during Turkey Sales day)
since TomTom has not yet created a working Android version yet
I bought CoPilot Live as soon as it released, back on my G1. I had it on my Nexus One too but since Google Nav became available in the UK I've used it less and less and since I upgraded to the Nexus S in December, I am yet to reinstall CoPilot.
It was great but I just love Google Nav, especially as there is a big new bypass and road layout changes in my town and Google was, obviously, able to use it the very day it opened!
Anyone has a problem with the speed of those kind of apps?
I once saw Sygic on a Nexus One and thought it was the most sluggish thing I've ever seen. It took many seconds to input an address, to update the map, to navigate through the menus. To do anything, actually.
Have they updated it and made it faster by now?
What's

My nexus S also like that
So How can we fix that problem?
I have tried CoPilot and thought it was pretty decent, and fairly accurate, but a little difficult to figure out and set things in the menus. Once you get used to things it isn't that bad though.
I had no real complaints about the stock Sprint Navigation on my Epic, other than it takes so darn long to first start up. By the time you get it started up you're already to your destination. LOL
I'm currently TRYING to get Sygic Aura running, but I am finding it most annoying that I have to download maps via the phone, and the download is ridiculously slow! I chose only ONE small map for my state, and it is taking way too long. It has been downloading now for 1 hour and 10 minutes and it is not even quite halfway finished. That is just STUPID! I actually tried it a couple days ago and when I saw how long it would take I just gave up, but figured I'd give it another shot. I might just give up again and trash it, unless I find another source for the maps. I can only imagine how long it is going to take to download the maps of the 8 other states I really NEED for this to be functional for me.
iGO version 8.4.2.139242 runs smoot on Nexus S Android 2.3.3 GRI40
have any one tried the OpenSource freewares GPS apps yet?
there was one mentioned in the XDA front page a few weeks back
For the Navigon Users. I contacted Navigon and they are working on a update for the nexus S
At Nexus navigon s not working.

No root is not a problem here.
I have rooted i9023, and Mobile Maps 10 also does not work
One apk give me only FC, another showing first screen of application and then closing it.
I used to use it on HTC's Hero and worked perfectly...
I dont know whats wrong...
I have never been able to use turn by turn. I've used Google Maps after enabling GPS and WIRELESS NETWORKS AND THEN WHEN i SWITCH over to Google Nav it says Searching for GPS....but yet it gets me text directions on how to get there and if I make a wrong turn it doesnt update with how to get there from the current location
Ive seen videos of people being able to use their GPS and Ive had this phnoe since last year. What in the hell...please help.
Baseband:
32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
Kern:
2.6.37.2
Cyanogen 7.0 RC2
If you can't use GPS in any application I would say it's hardware related and you need to send it in for repair/replacement.
I would assume you have the newest version of Maps and you have wiped and tried the stock rom already.
Can you provide logs?
Oh damn Im out of warrant :\
Im frustrated
and the weird thing in Google Maps, when I have GPS and wireless network enabled it grabs my location within about 500 yards of my real location but on Google Nav it says searching for gps and when I use the GPSstatus app it doesnt lock or anything it has that loading icon
500 yards is your network location. That would be flat out awful and useless for GPS. My GPS fix is usually in between 3-10 meters.
Download GPS status from the market and see what it shows.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Oops did not see the last line where you already tried the app.
As said before try a full wipe/ restore to stock if you haven't already. Other than that it will need to be sent into HTC to be fixed.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Ill try a full restore and report back
Not quite the same ....
I am getting problems where the GPS lock takes far too long, but it does eventually get there.
I am on:
Android - 2.3.3
Baseband - 32.50.00.32U_5.12.00.08
Kernel - 2.6.35.7-59423-g08607d4
Build - GRI40
All pretty standard stuff, the issue really is that it used to work great on 2.2 & earlier radios, so I guess the question is what is the best radio for 2.3.3 & GPS ?

If you don't have the same issue, then why post in the thread with a different issue? Start a new thread for a separate issue. Fwiw, stock Gingerbread radio is 5.08 which is what you should be using, not 5.12.
I think it's more of a CyanogenMod 7 issue since I couldn't have locked the phone with RC2 also. Try updating to RC4 it works for me now.
hey,
i've big problems with the galaxy-s combined with commercial gps software like sygic, navigon or copilot 8. none of them works with the galaxy-gps. when on google-maps, everything is fine and i get a very fast gps lock, and the signal is stable.
can anybody think of a reason for this malfunction?
yours, david
p.s.: i'm running the phone on darkcore 3.1 and goatrip 4.0, if this has something do with it... (android 2.3.4)

¿Have you tried using it whit GPS activated?
yes, but not working
This app has compas calibration, it may help
Apparently there is a problem with the compass in version 6 of Google Maps on Gingerbread.
To solve this issue I installed Google Maps 5.12 from an apk.
Did it work without any issues ?

I'm using Zeus 6.39 (v20n).
Installing Google Maps 5.12 resolves the "missing compass" issue.
The accuracy of the compass, and of the GPS in general, I'm not so sure. I haven't tested properly yet, but my initial impression is that GPS + compass worked better in the stock Froyo I was using before. It's a pity, because for the rest this Zeus rom seems great. I'm considering reverting to Froyo.
After some more testing: I can't get GPS and the compass to work properly in Zeus 6.39 and 7. I get a fix quite fast, but the current location is skipping from here to there to the point where it's completely useless for navigation, and the compass is sometimes working, but more often way off. Calibration doesn't really help. I tried various fixes for GPS as well, but to no avail.
It seems it's a general problem with Gingerbread and the (hardware of my) OB. In Froyo GPS + compass work fine on my OB.
Now trying Nova 8 (Froyo ROM). GPS works fine there.
Same on my OB. I found CM7 based ROMs are better in GPS, but best solution for me was to buy cheap bluetooth GPS module. On Froyo I also had no problems.
