hey,
i've big problems with the galaxy-s combined with commercial gps software like sygic, navigon or copilot 8. none of them works with the galaxy-gps. when on google-maps, everything is fine and i get a very fast gps lock, and the signal is stable.
can anybody think of a reason for this malfunction?
yours, david
p.s.: i'm running the phone on darkcore 3.1 and goatrip 4.0, if this has something do with it... (android 2.3.4)

Hey guys,
I'm interested in buying Sygic GPS nav (their latest nav app). But not sure whether it'll work perfectly on LG Optimus 2x. I tried their prev version (2.1.13) on O2x (stock rom) and it worked okay for first time and then reboot issue. Their current version (3.x) looks interesting.
Anyone has ever installed and is it okay? Now my O2x has been upgraded to v10b, base 405, rooted.
thanks
i have sygic and it wrks great i really like it, also the download maps feature is great..
i was in france last week and forgot to get that map on my phone but they had free wifi hotspots @ gas stations which allowed me to download a map straight of their servers
all in all im verry content with it.
It is DEFINITIVELY ok, I kinda love it and worked out pretty well so far!
hmm.. just bought Sygic. When it's working it's good. But after I close the app, my phone became unstable. In fact, i thought because it was conflicting with Car Home. But freezing Car Home or not doesn't change anything. It's still crashed. Especially when i use the Sygic while charging it in my car. Also, when i fiddle around the settings. Have they made Sygic compatible with Tegra? Mine is 405 baseband and V10b firmware. Any idea what can make it more stable?
thanks
absolutely to suggest
I've got the Sygic Aura 3.0 and it works perfectly!
do any of you have your LG use modified ROM or stock ROM? Mine is rooted but still stock ROM.
Mine is no root, stock at the moment.
I installed the cynomod rom on an N1 with 2.3.3 android version.
Now i reïnstalled Sygic mobile maps 2010 V8.22 but i can't get a GPS signal.
Is sygic not compatibel with 2.3.3 or wat is the problem?

I used it a few times...so I can tell you that it does work with gingerbread...but can't recall the version number of sygic...I uninstalled due to lack of search engine that is tied in with maps like Google navigation/app.
it seems a common problem on (certain?) other phones running 2.3.3.

most of it seems like crashing issues, but i do seem to recall seeing a few GPS connectivity related issues.
fwiw, in on 2.3.4 and sygic works perfect for me. also, there was an update for the main app yesterday which fixed various bugs; try an update!

¿Have you tried using it whit GPS activated?
yes, but not working
This app has compas calibration, it may help
Apparently there is a problem with the compass in version 6 of Google Maps on Gingerbread.
To solve this issue I installed Google Maps 5.12 from an apk.
Did it work without any issues ?

I'm using Zeus 6.39 (v20n).
Installing Google Maps 5.12 resolves the "missing compass" issue.
The accuracy of the compass, and of the GPS in general, I'm not so sure. I haven't tested properly yet, but my initial impression is that GPS + compass worked better in the stock Froyo I was using before. It's a pity, because for the rest this Zeus rom seems great. I'm considering reverting to Froyo.
After some more testing: I can't get GPS and the compass to work properly in Zeus 6.39 and 7. I get a fix quite fast, but the current location is skipping from here to there to the point where it's completely useless for navigation, and the compass is sometimes working, but more often way off. Calibration doesn't really help. I tried various fixes for GPS as well, but to no avail.
It seems it's a general problem with Gingerbread and the (hardware of my) OB. In Froyo GPS + compass work fine on my OB.
Now trying Nova 8 (Froyo ROM). GPS works fine there.
Same on my OB. I found CM7 based ROMs are better in GPS, but best solution for me was to buy cheap bluetooth GPS module. On Froyo I also had no problems.
Hello to all...
i am using the cm-10-20120901-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd and i face a problem with GPS sync ...
as long as i used the gingerbread 2.3.6 with semaphore kernel the gps was working perfect and was locking satellites very fast.
fast and stable use of the GPS . i had never problem.
in the CM10 my phone faces difficulties to lock satellites and when that happens then it syncs and unsync every 10-15 seconds ...
i have done all wipes, i have install again the cm10 but i have still problems with the GPS signal.
i don't think so that there is a hardware problem because i have done the trick with the tape in the GPS antenna and because in stock 2.3.6 my GPS was working identical !!
by the way i have installed the same nightly in a friends of mine samsung S and his GPS works fine ....i don't know what happens ..
any ideas ?? anyone with the same problem ???
i would appreciate your help ...
Hi all.
I have been having problem with my GPS for a while. The GPS can lock on my device and find me when using the app, though after a while the GPS signal is lost. i was using SportsTracker, I have tried another app such as Endomondo though the problem remain.
I also tried using GPS Aids PRO but it appears that it didn't work or that I don't know to use this app.
I'm using C-Rom V6 (Based on CM10.1, Android version 4.2.1 AOSP) so if this is because that my ROM isn't official for SGS this would be really unfourtunate.
Please help guys, running 4 or 8 KM without mesuring my run is really, ehh, not fun.
Please help?
I use C-RoM too but didn't experience any problem on GPS.
Try clearing the data of your GPS app in settings > apps. It's important to have a clear sky area (no obstructions) to have good GPS signal.
If it didn't help, it's maybe a hardware problem already. There are threads on XDA discussing how to fix the GPS hardware problem.
