[Q] A rooting Method - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im already rooted and have a solid rom going, but i was wondering if there was a rooting method, of getting the su binary AND getting S Off.
I looked at Regaws and other method OPs and they dont state it gets s off. Just wondering if anyone knows one, or even if its possible

Yes

You can update the su binary from the su app. You can get new busybox from the busybox installer app, and both regaws and darchs s-off methods work.

thanks dudes

How can I check whether I've successfully unrooted my rooted phone?

Obsolete
Hey guys, so after the release of UniversalAndRoot, I decided that maybe I should unroot my XT720 and use UniversalAndRoot to re-root it.
I rooted with the exploid method.
I plan on doing the steps backwards to see if that unroots my phone.
What's the best way to check whether my phone has been unrooted or not?
Is it enough to claim that I unrooted my phone if adb shell -> su fails to grant me root?
Thanks.
Someone's bound to know the answer?
You could try to install ShootMe or any other Market App that requires root permissions and then try if they work.
pretty much what the guy above me said just install an app that requires super user permissions then run it and it should say your not rooted or this app requires root.
Thanks guys, I followed your advices and managed to unroot my current root and rooted with a different method.
This thread is now obsolete.
Install terminal and type su
You will get permission denied iiif not rooted.

su binary outdated

Hey guys, every time I restart my phone, and it goes through the process of checking storage and everything, I get a little hash symbol icon in the top bar that says 'su binary outdated' when I click on it, it doesn't look all that safe but it pops up every time, im worried if I go through with it it may be a virus... I rooted my phone with z4 root and installed lag fix v2. Anyone got any advice or guarantee that it is safe? It wants to down load a file when I press update but I *****ed it ang closed it...

Its the super user binary should be safe as almost everyone is using the super user app. It enables root permissions to the apps you want. Should update to v3.0 i think, ive done it no problems so far...

I just upgraded my FW via Kies the other day from 2.2 to 2.3.3 KG3 and lost my root in the process. Have not rooted it again yet as been trying to sort out the best way to root with KG3 - seems some people having problems with speedmod (my root kernel previously) and KG3.
I still have the superuser icon and i'm getting the same message as you to update it - I have hit go ahead but it won't because I don't have root access but if you are rooted it should be safe to update it.
As soon as i root my phone again I certainly will....
EDIT: flashed .tar file found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211939&highlight=haloimplant&page=19
and rooted again no problemo. still on same kies-upgraded KG3 stock firmware. Superuser updated with busybox and TiB updated. now to find a decent kernel/rom....

Dunno but I can't see why the Phone app would need root so I'd deny that ****.

thats not an answer i was looking for
Without knowing the app, we cant answer What is the app name?
The fact that it is at a specific time, each day, is HIGHLY wierd.. Also, the app has NOT declared superuser permissions, this is sloppy at best, suspicius at worst. Also, it is a phone app, why need root permissions?
Install a root app (SuperUser by chainfire for example) that logs the request (the command it wants to run), to give us more to go on.
Kind Regards

Im having same issue. "phone" is requesting superuser access. Im also getting "system_server" requesting superuser access once everyday. Just updated to 3.62.401.1. And recently installed Xposed framework. Im also using tasker and secure setting. Dont know if these app could be causing this. I dont see any details from supersu log except it attempted to get su access...

Anyone use kingroot got this problem. So sad. I'm waiting for someone can fix.
Did you try to flash SuperSU 2.49beta already? That one worked for me after rooting with KingUser.
Download the 2.49 SuperSu flashable zip, then go into the recovery of your choice and flash it. Then boot the phone and go to Kinguser and then the settings and click on Root Permission and disable it. Then reboot and go to SuperSu and install binaries and you're good to go.

How to disable KNOX, use Fireflash, update to Lollipop

After a while, I finaly could get root acces to my S5 g900a with base band NG3. Im trying to launch SuperSU and it says me to update binary code or number, something like that. When Is updating it, the app ask me for disable Samsung KNOX. After hitting "OK" it says me that it was impossible to disable.
I think thats why i cant use FlashFire to upgrade to Lollipop with an OTA. Can someone tell me how to do all of this? Thanx

I used titanium backup and uninstalled everything related to Knox without any issues, then I used flash fire to update to the pre rooted 5.0
