Is there a way to "fix" my soft mic? The people I talk with say I don't speak loud enough. I'm speaking in my normal voice though MAYBE I do speak kinda soft.. anyways is there a fix or something. Running CM7.0.3 thanks

My speakerphone sucks!
Low in volume and kind of crackles and cuts in and out almost when talking on it. My girlfriend has the same issue! Anyone else having this problem our know of a fix or setting to help the problem??

I have to say my Bionic has one of the loudest speakers I've ever heard on a phone. I'm comparing this to my OG that I modded to be louder than stock and several iPhones. I also haven't noticed the crackles and cut outs. Maybe take back for replacement? Odd y'all both got bad ones tho...
Yeah my speaker is pretty damn loud compared to my previous phones where I would have to pick up the phone and point the speaker phone towards. Kinda defeated the purpose, now I can have it a few feet away and hear perfectly.
It's much better than my wife's Tbolt. I can hear it loud and clear.
Mine seems better than the Charge, but that's not saying much. I like it, it's loud and clear!
I think it's a pretty damn good speaker. Maybe not as good as my OG, but still great.
Wow alot of u have loud speakers. Maybe both of ours are bad. Can you tell me what settings
you have out on??

It would be nice to have the functionality to automatically activate speaker phone by putting the phone face down like the Thunderbolt.
Not doing anything special, just turning the volume all the way up. Well I have been rooted and removed all Verizon crapware and running Launcher Pro from day one but doubt that has anything to do with it.
My original one did that! I went down that day and got a new one...the gal at Verizon gave me alot of grief though...new one works perfect...

I would describe the Bionic's speaker as getting "uncomfortably loud". I did also use it for a ~45 min concall while away from the office and the quality was fantastic.
Coming from a N1 where the speakerphone was so garbled it sounded like everyone was in Peanuts.

Wow nice to hear another problem like it. I'll see about exchanging, thanks

I've been impressed by the sound quality.... so loud in fact that sometimes i have to turn it down. I toss it in a shirt pocket and carry on with my business while on conference calls at work. Just running stock.

Hmmm sounds like i need to exchange mine

It definitely sounds as though the speakers are blown. I concur with my xda colleague in that this phone has one of, if not the loudest external speakerphone system on the market pre or post the moto droid 1.

+ 1 on this one mine is way louder than my rooted DInc with the louder volume hack.
The second i try to make a call the sound on my phone stops. It was working last night. Not even speaker works. But it will work when not in calls. The volume is all the way up

My wife's did that too, ended up having to send it back for a replacement.

this may be a dumb guess, but, make sure you don't have an active Bluetooth headset/speakerphone connection. your in-call audio may be getting redirected to the headset wipeout you realizing it
i found it happens alot with the galaxy series. Looked it up and just like theirs it was fixed with a batpull =] thanks for the help and concern guys
I have a HTC Vivid. When I talk into it with or without the cover, people tell me they have a hard time hearing me. Like its muffled. I talk loud and clear and the same. Is there a how to on how to replace a internal mic for it?
Do you have a case that covers the back of the phone?
There is a noise cancelling mic on the back that can cause problems if it is blocked in any way...
Try removing the case

I don't. I do have a case a bought for it but I took it off thinking that was the problem. Didn't fix it. Just sounds muffled every time I talk to some one. I can hear them excellently but they hear a muffled sound with me. No matter what I do.
What kernel/ROM?

I've had this problem before and it was a bad download for a custom rom. Try to redownload the rom and perform the necessary wipes that should fix it as it did mine

Has anyone else got complaints from the person on the other end of their call that we sound either really far away or distorted? I seem to get it allot and different locations.

Yep....i stopped caring at this point...
Try disabling voice privacy. Settings>Calls>Voice privacy. I'm using an EVO LTE so it might be different or might not

I'll give that a try, the post above I hear ya it's becoming so annoying like every other call is what I can't hear you.

1- Watch that your pinky finger doesn't accidentally move over the microphone while you're holding it.
2- Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2262648
I currently have the team at HTC interested in this. The problem is their noise cancellation may be picking up your voice for just a moment while you switch ears, or move... then for up to 30 seconds, your voice is considered "background noise" and is filtered out mostly.
This frequency cut gives the impression that you're far away or in a tunnel. I'll update the main thread when I hear back definitively what their findings were, and if there will be a fix.
Workaround for now, is talk very consistently (don't alter volumes) and watch your positioning; don't talk to where the back of the phone could pick you up.
I'm having a problem when I'm on a phone call with speaker phone on the mic sensitivity is extremely low, nobody can hear me. Even on video calls on hangouts if speaker is on other person can't hear me. Off of speaker is perfect
