Damaged SD Card - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
When today I tried to xfer some files to my SD Card, during the process, the xfering hanged and I unmounted the SD.
Afterwhich, I mount it again and xfered the files to my SD Card.
After unmounting it, my phone prompts that my SD Card is damaged and needed to be reformated.
After reformating, I try to xfer the file again, and after unmounting it, it prompts that my SD Card is damaged again.
Anyway to fix this?
Your help would be much appreciated as I cant flash roms or kernels thru CWM on my phone anymore =(

Maybe the SD was really damaged (hardware fault) when the xfer failed? Also, try physically ejecting and then plugging in.
Once I received SD error and asking me to reformat it. I could not remount it as the system itself unmounted it. Rebooting didn't help... I tried the eject and plug (hot swap) and it was all well with all data intact.

Help. SD Card Damaged, G1 won't boot

Title says it all. I unmounted as I should have before turning off USB storage, but when I unplugged the USB cable, it said I have a damaged SD card and that I may need to format it. I hit the OK to format and nothing happened. I tried rebooting and nothing happens. I'm rooted with CM 3.9.7 mod, A2SD, etc. I've tried flashing the recovery, etc, but it can't mount the SD card and so fails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can go to Target and buy a Dane-elec 4GB for ten dollars.
It comes with a micro-sd usb card reader.
Probably in order to fix your situation you may need a micro sd usb card reader to reformat and repartition.
You can now do this through adb.

Just reformat it in a card reader.
reformat the card, wipe and reflash the ROM.

[Q] Damaged SD card

Hi guys,
I tried partitioning my external sd card to linux swap, and something must have gone wrong. Now,a notification on my Galaxy S reads "Damaged SD card - SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it." This was the first thing I tried, but the Internal SD is formatted instead when I try. (Rom bug?). When i mount my phone via USB, only the formatted (damnit) internal SD is found.
I'm currently on TiramiSlim (best rom!!) with Devil 0.94. If you have any help it would be appreciated, any further questions don't hesitate!

In first i think that partition ext sd card is useless but it's my opinion.
In fact if you want to recover your ext sd i advise you to reformat your sd card with the windows disk utility: you select all volumes, delete them and recreate a new one with ntfs format (android will do his work when you'll insert your sd in the device).
If it doesn't work try to make the same but with a Linux system (Linux is powerful ^^).
Please reply me your results.
Have you tried to format the SD card with an SD Adapter & then make sure that USB debug is enabled on the device.
I had this issue.
Sometimes it shows that the card is damaged & then it reads it later on!
I plugged the Card into my Digi-Cam Formatted it.
Changed the Rom.
Now it works.
Anyways safely remove the drive when plugged into a computer!
i don't have an sd-card adapter unfortunately, the only way i can plug it in is via my phone. I cannot seem to find a disk utility on windows that will read the external sd, i can only find the internal from my computer.
i will try and get hold of an sd-adapter and let you know if it works
fixed the problem!

how did you fix the problem?
My phone recognizes the internal storage but i keep getting "sd card is damaged, try reformatting it" in the notification bar.
when I click on format, it says "unmounting sd card" but nothing happens.
Thanks,
Luke
*edit.. nvm.
I put my SD card in my old x10 and in settings/storage I erased my SD card.
Works fine now

"SD Card Safe To Remove" issue

My phone keeps saying that the sd card is safe to remove and i have no access to any files or anything. When formatting in CWM it says no sd card detected and when i try to mount USB storage it just loads endlessly. Help please?
Actually I fixed it. Anyone with same problem, format your SD from the phone's storage settings (not CWM).
Sent from my phone... AND WHAT

[Q] Cannot back up via CWM Recovery

I think It all started when I using linux to access the sdcard of my p970 2 days ago. I tried to rejected it safely but the computer said some error so I just unplug it anyway.
After that there are some unusual thing such as missing app.
Just then I found that the phone said "The sdcard is either empty or android cannot read this type of sdcard format..."
I used a card reader to check my sdcard but it is broken, so I do a quick format to it.
After that I want to do a clockworkmod recovery backup but it failed with a message
Waiting for SD card to mount (20s)
Waiting for SD card to mount (19s)
Waiting for SD card to mount (18s)
...
Waiting for SD card to mount (1s)
Cannot found SD card marker....
then it failed.
What should I do? I want to make a clean reinstallation.
try accessing to it by an usb adapter. copy datas if possible, then format. if you can't access to it at all, it means it's dead. if memory sectors become unreadable, it's dead.
I've borrowed my brother's sdcard...it works just fine.
So I guess the sd card is broken
In addition, when I checked it on the PC, I can do quick format successfully but the full format failed every time
be sure filesystem is fat32 and well partitionned (unique partition) . quick formating is enough.
if windows is dalaying the access to the card, it probably means the card is corrupted or dying

[Q] Ext SD card issue

After copying a recovery from card to pc the phone says the card is blank. What the hell happened and can I get it to read again?
