[Q] How do you backup your current ROM? - LG Optimus 2x

i know CWM.. but for this phone any backup from that app is useless... you can't restore from it.

Why can't you restore from it?

everytime i try to restore. i just end up with the LG Logo, making me just install another CR (which works) but the backup i made with that same custom ROM and my modification/apps are useless.

This happens to me, too. I've tried with many different backups, but same result every time.

I've already restored once without problems, gonna restore once more tomorrow (now i'm doing some experiment with official rom), so i will report (i have CWM 3.2 now).
What CWM version are you using?

I'm using the CWM 3.0.2.8
Have only tried restore of stock backups, so only way to get back to stock rom for me is with the smartflash tool.

Argh... never got CWM to work. Better do use NVflash.

yeah so it seems CWM can't really restore backups, be it stock ROM or Custom ROMS. utterly useless rom a restore point of view.. but i think it is something to do with the way it back ups our current ROMs

Use the guide in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
It will totally wipe your phone, though. Backup all important files, or place them on your external SD-card.
Edit: You'll need the original ROM file from this thread, too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041

After the CWM restore just reapply the rom.zip. It should boot again, with all settings restored.
Did a restore that way today myself, after upgrading my baseband from 0405 to 0502.

HELP! Optimus 2x won't Boot

Hi all. I did something very stupid. I have a korean Optimus 2x su660. I flashed clockwork recovery and made a backup of my system, which went smoothly. Thinking that with clockwork recovery and a backup, i was safe, I then installed the Modaco custom rom v1. That install went smoothly. However i'm guessing because it was built for the p990, it did not run very well on my su660. Some FCs and the buttons didn't work. I also flashed the latest baseband(provided by modaco). After that, I figured I would just restore my backup, which I did, but after the restore, the phone locks up on boot. I tried booting multiple times, restoring multiple times....nothing seems to work it always locks up mid-boot. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can fix this??
PLEASE HELP!!!

That is for the p990. not the su660. He will have the same problems with buttons that dont work.
Are there no korean forums with roms for the su660? if there are you could flash one of them. But i think using the stock p990 rom would be a really bad idea.
Did you try to flash this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942830
easy, using the same ver when you backup the whole system.
i have the same issue. i use recovery beta2 backup but i will not bootup if use beta3 to restore
I used the same version of recovery to back up and restore and had no success...thanks for the advice though. I have .kdz and .bin versions of korean firmware, but cannot flash them onto my device. I tried using the KDZ_FW_UPD but it crashes everytime i try to flash the firmware, and I have no idea how to flash a .bin onto my device. Any tips/thoughts? Thanks!
Have you tried following the guide for "getting back to stock" for the p990, and just replacing the files with the su660?
I have not tried replicating the process described to get the P990 to stock using NVFlash with the SU660 files because there are no files that work with NVFlash for the SU660. I have .kdz and .bin files for the SU660 and have no idea how to flash them (NVflash, as far as I know cannot do it with those file types). Has anyone done something like that successfully with NVFlash and .bin/.kdz files?

[Q] Dead LG Optimus 2x

Hi
Before I've installed the Modaco CFW, I made a backup of the stock rom.
I didn't like the Modaco CFW and I made a Restore with the Clockworkmod ROM Manager. But now I can't boot the device. It always stuck in the boot Screed with the LG Logo.
I have read there is a problem with the Filesystem. The Stock Rom use EXT3 and the Modaco EXT 4
But now, my phone is bricked.
Have anyone an idea how i can unbrick my phone?

Search for NVFlash and Optimus 2X to find the way to reset your "bricked" phone .
or it might be that you need to go back to EXT3
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...3-for-converting-your-device-er-back-to-ext3/
That got me the first time I tried CyanogenMod-7 and tried to go back to a nan backup
Just install this in CWM and then restore your backup

The stock rom is EXT3 so you need to flash BackToEXT3 in recovery and then restore the backup. You can get the zip file from the development forum. From CM7 build 146 onwards they are using EXT4.

You must install the backto Ext3 zip file with CWM, then to be sure perform a factory reset in CWM (reformat /cache and /data), then Wipe Dalvik's cache (in advanced option of CWM), then finally restore your backup using Restore option.

Thanks man, I'm about to do this. This explains my problems

Can recover with CWM recovery but no boot afterwards

I installed the NOVA HD software with CWM Recovery. Just to try it. I made a full backup of my original GB with CWM Recovery. When I wanted to go back to my original gb rom I wiped all memory and then I did recover my backup. But after full recovery and a reset the phone got stuck on the startup logo. So again a full wipe and then NOVA HD ROM on it. All went well, and the phone booted normally into ICS. After that NO wipe and recover original GB backup. The logo came. Then the original splash screen also. And then nothing again.
What am I missing here? What should I do to get my backup of the original GB rom back on my phone with CWM Recovery?
Perhaps a file system format problem ? What version of CWM do you use? Touch 6 version has problems with ext3.
Find and try backtoext3 zip to force ext3 on all partitions, before restoring. And depending what version of CWM you use try the Non Touch 6 CWM (see thread about new 6.x CWM first post).

I do use the none touch version because I heard about the problems with the touch version. I use version 5.0.2.0.

Strange so.... Try back2ext3 anyway.
Try to flash cm7 or other GB rom. And after that restore your backup. Might even try with a stock GB.
working
hey if u dont want to root ur phone then go with smartflash .The below link is give u a original rom and installing method .BUT BE SURE IT WILL WIPE UR ALL INTERNAL DATA u must backup all data first .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1035041
in this u find the 2 files
1 fls file which is baseband file put it in cp bin
2 bin file which is ur orignal rom put it in ap bin
NOTE-- if ur fail in first 1 or 2 attempts then dont worry repeat it for several times. This will put ur device on stock rom and unroot
All thanks for your replys. I think I will give CM7 a try. And then trying to get the backup back.
But maybe I will stay on this Nova HD rom. It is very quick. I have it installed now for two weeks and don't have any problems with it besides the headsetbutton and videocam issues. I like the quick startup of the normal cam function though. And I use holo launcher which is for me the snappiest and lowest memory consuming launcher.

[Q] Rollback from CM 10.1 to Official LG Stock 4.1?

I'm experiencing some problems and would like to go back to the stock rom. Currently on 10.1 Nightlies
Would I have to use this tool? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
I can keep the custom recovery right?
I have no idea how to do this though. All I have is the original EUR 20A kdz file.
Thanks.
No CWM backup?

No CWM backup before CM install? You can just restore or otherwise you have to use that tool. You can install CWM again after kdz flash. It wouldn't be a problem.
Remember you have to remove and reinsert battery or otherwise you may not be able to get into S/W mode and you also get BSOD on pc.
I also had probs on CM 10.1 RC2.
Just wipe it, then start from scratch.
Hi,
I would just reflash by doing a full wipe, restore a full backup of lg stock, then doing a factory reset and wipe to have a clean rom. But be careful not to wipe any backups you have its always best to keep them on external storage.
There is always the option of using the LG tool to factory reset the phone (enter sw upgrade mode then plug it into the computer.. follow the instructions in one of the mean threads on the subject.. liek http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723). The only real problem is data loss. Use a app to backup sms first. i like to use this one - and backup to external storage.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&feature=search_result
I would just use the LG tool to reset the phone, after doing a wipe.
Cant wait for the next android verson that could come with cloud backups

If you want to go back to stock OS with a clean install, the best is LGFlash Tool.
Remember that will wipe everything in the internal memory.
Next time (if you like to try other OS and change between them often) backup your
OS with CWM.
