I'm really considering using an overclocking kernel as I read lots off good stuff about it.
But since it debends on your chipset I would like to have an idea of the average OC that is possible (and since there not really a topic like this in the legend forum I thought it would be nice to share our settings).
I've read most of us should be able to run the 806 one is that true?
Has anyone tried the dumfuq v3.5(9/17) yet? (link)
And last but not least what SetCPU settings do you use?
EDIT: Since I've now OverClocked my legend I thought I'd share my SetCPU settings for those who like to control there CPU themselfs.
If you have no idea what your doing please just use dumfuq v3.5 without SetCPU (Actually if you have no idea what your doing you shoulnd have OC'd but ohh wel)
Here are my settings:
main: 806/245 ondemand
screen off: 245/245 prio-100 ondemand
charging/full:806/245 prio 55 ondemand
batt<50: 600/245 prio 60 ondemand
temp>50: 400/245 prio 65 ondemand

What settings are u using? 245/245 sceen off 450/825 screen on? Is that possible with SetCPU?
It has the interactive governor from 245 to 825MHz. No need for setcpu
However you can use 245/245 and 400/825 with setcpu if you want

looking hereh++p://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7513424&postcount=1 the version 3.5 (espresso, legend, or aria devices !!!!)
you must boot in recovery(clockwork from "rom manger") and "install an zip"(the overclock-zip)...then must have the "setcpu"-programm to set "profiles" ...
i`m germaner my englich very bad...

somebody try it ?
can i use oc on other roms ? ( not CM )
perfect for me !!!!
overclocking is only possible with CM 6!!!!

How far is your Galaxy s stable?
mine just hits the 1.1GHZ, beyond that only crashes no matter which voltage i Use. please Use the poll so we have a good picture of what the average galaxy s is capable of..
also comment which version of SGS you are using and 8gb/ 16 Gb etc..
i9000m
PS this thread should be moved to General
had mine at 1.54ghz running MIUI with tk glitch kernel.
was amazingly fast, but my phone got hot quick, i dont like OC'ing i feel it may do more harm than good in the long run.
others may and will disagree but thats my opinion on it
Mine with 1.3GHz OC and some Undervolt is perfectly stable.....

Agree with the chef ...
Although I can overclock to 1540MHz it does get hot and Im sure it will do damage in time ..
1300MHz is a great overclock ...
It will be interesting to see what my SGS 2 can be safely overclocked to
1.2 GHz seems ok for me - with UV
Doesn't really get hot.
Running mine @ 1440 MHz with MIUI but i think I can go higher if I want . I have the 8 GB version
1.3 and very stable and with great performance both q score caffiene mark and in daily use
Which voltage are you using?
Mine seems to freeze on voltages above the 1.3V,
above the 1.2 GHZ always freezes. I,m using darkeys 9.5 Rom.
someone some advice which rom is the best for OC, (just for benchmarking) for once.

Mine can handle up to 1.3-1.4ghz
Im getting stable speeds of 1.7ghz. Im on watercooling though..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
1.4ghz is my max for full stability. 1.5ghz works fine (no reboots), but the CPU occasionally gives an invalid result during calculations, e.g. during benchmarks like linpack, results can sometimes be inaccurate; 1.44ghz also seemed to work, but I picked 1.4ghz max for longevity/reliability.
UV Values are:
100mhz - 200mV UV (750mV)
200mhz - 150mV UV (800mV)
400mhz - 100mV UV (950mV)
800mhz - 75mV UV (1125mV)
1ghz - 50mV UV (1200mV)
1.2ghz - 50mV UV (1300mV)
1.3ghz - 0mv UV (1400mV)
1.4ghz - 50mV UV (1400mV)
Max UV were found by starting from 100mhz Max frequency, decreasing UV until stable for 5 minutes of software decoding of 720p MKV, and then increasing Max frequency one step. Occasionally the previous step UV needed to be decreased by 25mV to obtain a stability at the next frequency step.

Mine is stable at 1.5 Ghz with a 200mv undervolt, but only if I select it as a single frequency.
For multiple frequencies, I was stable at 1.4Ghz on an earlier kernel, but it's slightly unstable now... I'll probably try tweaking the governor.
I'm on a i9000m using tk-glitch's V9D-VC and CM7 #11 build.
By the way, shouldn't this thread be in general?
I am on MIUI v3 and CM7_SGSMTD_platypus-kernel_20110522_r0_quorra-prer11_test4-r2 kernel.
I don't use undervolt settings and 1.2 Ghz is fine for me; above values generally don't work stable.
By the way, 1.2 ghz is almost enough for all games and operations, I did not run into that pushing apps for high oc's.
Regards.
1.44GHz, extremely smooth and stable!
Never seen an option to go above 1.54, but 1.54 works flawlessly so I've chosen 1.5 in the poll. (16gb i9000)

It's not the ROm it's the KERNEL who can oc, i adviise using XAN, hardcore kernels in 2.2. or gto's ginger kernel at 2.3 they are stable and 1280 i guess it's the limit not to warm up
But a questin what send me an undervoltage config, to 1300 if the gpu games work for someone at 1300mhz

The new kernel by LorD ClockaN for AOSP(cyanogen and MIUI) roms is here.
http://www.multiupload.com/YQTRBBDO3B
http://www.4shared.com/zip/VC9M-tPU/lordmodUEv85-CFS-VIVO-20.html
This is 8.6b3 of his DHD kernel for vivo.
Please try it and post reviews which will help him to further work on incredible s kernels.
A big thanks to LorD ClockaN for his great kernels.
Governors explained: (Thanks to LorD ClockaN )
*interactive - Instead of sampling the cpu at a specified rate, the governor will scale the cpu frequency up when coming out of idle. When the cpu comes out of idle, a timer is configured to fire within 1-2 ticks. If the cpu is 100% busy from exiting idle to when the timer fires then we assume the cpu is underpowered and ramp to MAX speed.
*smartass - Is an improved version of interactive governor.
*ondemand – Available in most kernels, and the default governor in most kernels. When the CPU load reaches a certain point (see “up threshold” in Advanced Settings), ondemand will rapidly scale the CPU up to meet demand, then gradually scale the CPU down when it isn't needed.
*conservative – Available in some kernels. It is similar to the ondemand governor, but will scale the CPU up more gradually to better fit demand. Conservative provides a less responsive experience than ondemand, but can save battery.
*performance – Available in most kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the “max” set value at all times. This is a bit more efficient than simply setting “max” and “min” to the same value and using ondemand because the system will not waste resources scanning for CPU load.
*powersave – Available in some kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the “min” set value at all times.
*userspace – A method for controlling the CPU speed that isn't currently used by SetCPU. For best results, do not use the userspace governor.
*brazilianwax - Very agresive version of smartass.
*interactiveX - Tweaked Interactive governor by Imoseyon by adding more features like suspend/wake profile.
*ondemandX - Tweaked and ported from 2.6.38 base Ondemand governor by Imoseyon by adding more features like suspend/wake profile.
P.S: This kernel is not for Sense Roms !
Installed with #146.
Boot is slow.
Bootanimation don't show correct.
A lot of lag.

this kernel for sence or cynagon or miui ?
aosp (cm7, miui). it says so on the first post.
Did a restor and reflashed the new v. 2.0 Kernel, but same problems as first time.
The strange thing is that test score with Quadrant is 3089 with both Kernels.
any changelog?
accidently im install to sence rom, this kernel accepted & working but i dont know others reflect like sms/call delay etc .... can someone test it!

Anyone else tried it? it is running fine on my miui rom. boot time was also good. couldn't find any bug in the bootanimation (maybe a slight lag in the animation).
Edit: felt a very slight lag while moving pics in the gallery.

Kernel is working fine.. Can't feel any difference between previous version and this.. But still Two Way call recording and in call audio boosts are missing.. Need the latter badly..
The only difference I feel better from Tiamat kernel is, this one does better fps in 3d and 2d animations..

I use this with CM nighlty 146 too.
booting is the same as v1.
but at governor "conservative" ,this version is much lag than V1.
For me ,V1 is faster responding than V2.
no other issue.

hey you promised us a new kernel after this to improve the small bugs...please if you get time then provide us with it...your kernels are too good
Does this kernel work with Virtuous Quattro or is it only for CM?
Both AOSP and so on? Don't kill me if this was stupid to ask
Edit: Nvm, tried and didn't work
Hey does someone know the overclock configuration that was posted on the Overcome page once? I'm running on Overcome 4.1 with the belonging Kernel which allows me to get to 1.6ghz (theoretically) and I'd like to overclock to 1.2ghz.
I'd be very grateful if you could help me
Edit: I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036020 but does this guide also apply to Overcome 4.1?
Just use Voltage Control or SetCPU. It's really not that hard at all. Just be careful with your voltages-overvolting will eat your battery more but may allow you to reach higher frequencies, and undervolting may get you better battery life but may make your tab unstable.
As a reference, I have my Tab running at 100-1.4 with smartassv2 and stock voltages on the Overcome 4.0 kernel.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
thanks ;-) but which sheduler do you use?
for those who also have problems with overclocking and for
the newbies (like me =-D) I found this page which describes the usage of shedulers
and governors http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19846297
IO Scheduler: CFQ
Governor: Smartassv2
At least that's what I use on my phone. I just left everything alone on my tab.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
thanks, you helped me a lot ;-)
I'm using Voltage Control on 1.3ghz with stock voltages on smartassv2 and deadline and it runs pretty stable
Thanks, useful tip for me too.
I use SetCPU
OC max 1.3GHz, min 100MHz
-75mV from 100Mhz --> 1.0GHz and then -50 from 1.0GHz to 1.3GHz
PLUS various profiles to set max to 800MHz whilst screen off etc etc
that's exactly the same that I did =-D=-D=-D
That's pretty much what I have. OP, sorry I couldn't answer your PM, my tab is currently bricked and I haven't had the chance to recover it.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
yea I have time =-D that's not so important, just make sure your tab runs again ;-)

This is what worked for me as well, just don't check"set at boot" option till you've tried that speed for a few days and you config proves stable.

Haha, I did check that option when I foolishly set the OC max to 1.6GHz
...I was just able to uninstall between one of the many lopping reboots
Anyway all, sorted now. In fact I have reverted to stock voltage for 1GHz up to 1.3GHz because playing Trial Xtreme2 would cause a reboot when I'd exited the game - seem's all ok now *touches wood*
I just installed Tegrak OC and I am a little mystified on the best setup up for my note. I have Darky rom 3.3 and Franco test Kernal installed. If anyone has this combo and is using Tegrak what have you found to be the best setup for battery and performance together ?
Why do you need to O/C Your note??Its already very quick at processing and overclocking only leads to lesser processor life, battery life and consume lot of power. If I were you,I would leave it as it is
I'm using Tegrak and franco.kernal on stock deodexed rom. I have cpu set at 1600 but don't know enough about the other settings to make any other changes.
I was about to start a thread on this same subject. Thanks ingott77!
@vijai2011 I OC because I have the need for speed!!! And, it actually makes GB run smoother and quicker. I don't yet know if I will use it once the official ICS is released. I've heard the ICS is very quick and smooth compared to GB.
kraz
Yeah i have francos test and running 1.6 overclock with the same voltage as stock 1.4ghz (1300mv). Is completely stable for me. Overclocked the gpu too to 267/400. 400mhz is stable for me at 1000mv but may not be for others. Be careful of overheating with 3d games though. Also changed io scheduler to deadline - its francos default but for testing he changed to noop for stability testing.
