yeah it common , if you play r browse the back side as well as the screen also become very hot, if install temp. app. it will show 50 oC may 60 o also some times
My device tends to heat up when I leave it on certain surfaces, like a mattress for example. It will overheat and shutdown automatically. Which is extremely annoying :/

I've noticed that occasionally, my phone feels pretty hot in my hand. Used the spare parts app and got aa temp reading of 41°c. So I'm just curious if this is a high level of or not for a not charging phone (the lowest temp I have seen is 29°). Just post ur temps here or provide any useful info you may have so I can get a feeling for if this KS normal.
Thanks!

I experienced the same, but be noted that, continuous use will heat up your fone, especially when dealing with SD card reading/ writing. btw you can always check with the shop for sure.
It gets hot when I use navigation for a while. It got up to 50C today. Damn that's hot!
Anything that uses continuous data transfer over 3g/h like maps wud heat up the phone. Same applies for calls too on 3g/h.
I always keep mine on 2g unless I need some serious data download. This way my phone keeps its cool

Hello
The day before I got my Lg O2X and am now experiencing overheating (I think). The app which I have installed shows 42C while charging the battery is a bit warm.
Can anyone suggest me a good app so that I can confirm it?
And yeah I live in India so temperature is a bit high over here 32C when I posted this.
Update: I just noticed as the battery reached 90% charging it started to cool down at the moment it is at 36.7C at 96% (with no change in placement of the phone).
Ya man..the battery of every device heats up while charging and yes i also live in India and if u use ur phone while recharging it goes upto 42°C..
Try not using while charging..
Cheers

Just buy some spare batteries 2.80usd shipped each. And external battery wall charger $3.50

I guess installing a custom rom would also help.
Im the meanwhile I‘ll get an extra battery.

Do note that heat is directly proportionate to the amount of power the phone uses. Generally I find custom roms/kernels to be more power hungry than the standard ones.

Mine overheates only while I'm playing and charging in the meanwhile, or in car, navigating and charging.. It's a lot of battery consumption and totally normal..
Leaked GB 20i (topogigi) has a good battery life, the only thing is a battery drain in data mode, but for instance wifi is going really well!

Most people say it makes their battery cycle longer and battery rarely goes to 40C!

In some cases my display heats up very fast. Can't touch it for a while. Can anyone confirm that? I don't do a lot, just text a SMS or something...
Thanks in advance

Is the whole screen heated up or just a part of it (possibly only top or bottom of the screen)? What were you doing before it started heating up? Playing games while charging can sometimes cause the whole device to heat up, at least it does on my SGS.
Did you accidentally drop your phone in some water or something? That's the most common cause for such problems.

Thanks for your answer. The hole screen is heating up very fast. If I play 3d games it is usually but I just look at the time or chatting with some friends. My phone never dropped into water and I don't overclock it.
I'm on JB Rom right now but had that problem in GB and IcS too. Just wanted to ask if it is normal for 2 years old devices
My device is running great but the fast heating is wired ;/
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
While playing 3d games heating up sounds quite normal, but it should not happen when just chatting or similar stuff that does not use loads of system power :\
If you still got some warranty on it, you might want to send it to some repair center to fix it. (Remember to flash back to stock rom before doing so )
Haha my phone didn't have any warranty anymore
I could buy me another but I love the style and great support of the I9000 ! it seems like I have to live with the "heat issue" until my phone burns haha
Thanks for your advice again.

You can check with Bat Stat. It's a widget and work very well.
From my experience a mobile completely in idle should stay at 25/30°C, messaging and do some other light things up to 35°C and gaming 45°

Temperature change means that your CPU is working. That's why you use more battery. If you want to preserve your battery on a rooted phone you can use apps like "SetCPU" and set as max cpu speed 1016 MHz. This will not reduce drastically you phone speed but will help you to preserve more battery. When you want to play some game set the max value back to 1500 Mhz

Atm I was reading a book from Play Books and temp is 29. With my Note I had similar values.
The thing that is different between XZ and Note it's that XZ can't exchange hot cause it's waterproof and Note can do more effectively.
XZ has a front and back "glass" so it's more sensible about external temp.
Here in Italy summer it's coming and I'll expect about 30° CPU temp as normal

Today I wanted to test how is the battery of this phone. I had unplugged from charger at 6.30 AM and connected to PC for 10 mins during the day. Now I have 33% remain and I went on YouTube, listened songs with Spotify (offline), SMS, FB, Twitter, Viber, Play Book: a normal daily use for me.
I have .253 fw and Doom Kernel with wheatley governor and cfq scheduler. 1026 MHz max - 192 MHz min. Juice Defender Ultimate for mobile data and WiFi always active when I am at home or at work.
About 18h without charge. For me it's an exceptional battery life. (when i hade Note I used to go with 3 more battery in the bag!)
I've been using XT1052 for more then a month now. The display of my phone gets a bit hot on playing games(asphalt 8) or while charging. I know that any phone heats up while playing games but it should be just the backside, right? Is the heating up of the display normal or I am the one with a defective handset?

The Moto X is a very thin package. As such, all the internal components are positioned VERY close to one another. Your battery is a very short distance from the display as well.
It is very unlikely that you have a defective unit based on the symptoms you have mentioned.
So the display heating is normal? Will it have any negative effect on the life of my phone?

Most phones get hot playing high graphic games.
Will it hurt the phone? Doubtfully. But it will get hot....and of course your battery will drop like a rock. All normal.

Mine does on high graphics games, yes. Navigating while charging too. As said....its a small phone. It'll all heat up.
If you're rooted...you can get a kernel that allows it and under volt a little....might help.
Or don't be too concerned. The phone will turn off of it gets too hot. That may indicate its had too much. Lol
Mine gets heated up on charging at times (only when data ON) and also while playing Most Wanted... It's normal...
