I've noticed that occasionally, my phone feels pretty hot in my hand. Used the spare parts app and got aa temp reading of 41°c. So I'm just curious if this is a high level of or not for a not charging phone (the lowest temp I have seen is 29°). Just post ur temps here or provide any useful info you may have so I can get a feeling for if this KS normal.
Thanks!

I experienced the same, but be noted that, continuous use will heat up your fone, especially when dealing with SD card reading/ writing. btw you can always check with the shop for sure.
It gets hot when I use navigation for a while. It got up to 50C today. Damn that's hot!
Anything that uses continuous data transfer over 3g/h like maps wud heat up the phone. Same applies for calls too on 3g/h.
I always keep mine on 2g unless I need some serious data download. This way my phone keeps its cool

My device tends to heat up when I leave it on certain surfaces, like a mattress for example. It will overheat and shutdown automatically. Which is extremely annoying :/

Yea that's me. If I hold the phone with my left palm covering the handset it loses some signal. Not a huge problem.
The worst things about the device at the mo are the awful battery life (which should be fixed with a custom Rom) and the cheap build quality. I've just sold mine because of these issues.
Nice screen though
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Yeah the battery issue is definatelt software related. I'm getting much better battery after uninstalling alot of the LG crapware that came with the phone.
A custom ROM would be perfect for this phone because the hardware is really good.
I am also noticing serious signal drop when my left palm covers the left side. However dont have issues in making or receiving calls. Not sure if it will affect 3G usage though.

No drop signal when I hold the phone with my left palm. But Heat & small speaker volume sometimes annoying.
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Oh, mine drops rapidly from 4 bars to 1 within 5 seconds. Doesnt happen on 2G network. Also seriously affects 3G download speed. Flat on my table, i can get 3mbps but with my left palm, only 1mbps. Sigh, a little put off with OB now.
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App
that's true. even i have the same problem. also this has been clearly mentioned in the user manual.
Oh, it is mentioned in the user manual? Btw, where can i get the user manual in PDF format?
The user manual come with your box inside, is same with the pdf manual download from LG site also, I'm user from Malaysia too!
Yay, fellow OB user from MY! My set actually from Taiwan. I connect it to the LG Suite but there are no options to download the PDF. The user manual that came with phone is all in Chinese and i dont understand a single letter, haha. Is there a direct link to download the PDF?
I found this at rootzwiki called "Found a bunch in Fastboot menu's, SBF flash mode, recovery and more...." im not a dev so I was wondering what these options do. I went down to hp tool and selected it to see what tools come up and it just rebooted my phone. I guessing I need it hooked up to a computer to use this. Since I don't know what im doing I stopped but I phone seemed faster. Not sure if its just cause of a reboot but I couldn't get over 1000kbps download and 500kbps upload. After I did the hp tools and it booted up I was getting over 2000kbps DL and 800kbps UL. Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me. "Remember im not a dev" just someone that's wants to improve his phone.
Ok, I switch to wifi to see what I get and speediest went through the roof. Switched back and now I can barely get over 100kbps DL
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
So your saying doing this is speding up download speeds?
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA Premium App
I don't know what I did but was getting 2000kbps last night trying to play around to see what it did. But know im doing the same thing and can't get to much above 200kbps. Its stop giving me 2000kbps when I switch to wifi then back. Just trying to figure out what I did.

Nice that would be nice of something did influence download speed. But could also be that late at night when the network is not as crammed you do tend to get higher speeds

I swear there is a thread somewhere for this, but I can't find it. So flame away.
Speaking of flames if I'm ever freezing, and the area I'm in has horrible signal I'll just use my phone as a heater.
The heat from this phone is seriously drying my hand out from charging it and tasking it with games. Plus always having terrible signal. Thanks sprint. I feel like it shouldn't be this warm though? Please inform me if I'm wrong.
Oh temperature is at 101°F just sitting charging.

Its fine and yes, there are several of these threads. The phone is made of metal as opposed to plastic. Youre using one big heatsink.

Don't quote electronics temperatures in F.
101 F is 2-3 degrees above body temperature. That seems reasonable.
I wouldn't expect someone to consider it hot until 50-60C. Or about 125F or above.
You're dealing with metal, metal conducts heat far better than other materials you can make phones out of. Metal will transfer the heat to your hand. I would have thought this would have been obvious when you bought a metal phone, but some people seem surprised.
I am running at -25 mV and I haven't had any battery alerts since.

4G (especially marginal) chews battery switching between 4G and 3G.
You can't use the Signal Strength to know what the 4G strength is.
I have since shut 4G off and my Battery is much better. You can shut it off by using non LTE PRL or set to CDMA only.
The non LTE PRL (12126) makes this the best 3G phone ever, for me.
Sprint has been "Rolling Out" 4G for 6 months in eastern MA and just seems to be getting worse.
I'm running Viper with what ever Kernel he supplied with it. My phone never gets hot. Maybe slight warm if running NAV while Charging.
I never play games.
Please tell me how. I can only get 4 hours out of mine.

I mean I get it! I'm not trying to poke fun at him or anyone trying to get as much battery life of their phones as possible. I'm just curious as to why the obsession if you don't need it.
Hell, I'm guilty of something similiar... every HTC One I get my hands on, I go to MYHOIAN's ebay site and try to get it SIM unlocked. Why? I'm not travelling overseas any time soon or jumping GSM carriers here in the States. ... I just want it unlocked! And... $3.50, really, can't beat that price.
Yea me to buddy wish we didn't have to worry about unlocking and batteryife that be a perfect world

I got my phone on the weekend, and finally hit 5 hours for the first time yesterday. I was playing music, browsing the internet, using WiFi and mobile data, and played a game for a little while. I almost didn't believe it when I saw it. I am very satisfied.
I think the app that got me there was Lux. It's a smart-dimming app that adjusts your screen brightness. You can also set what % you want your screen at for certain background light levels. I really like it.
Anyway, can't think of anything else I did to get that result. Much much much better than the One X.

Makes no sense to disabled data, sync, and other features of a smartphone

Edit I also have power saver on but disabled the powersave for the screen(hate a dim screen) like I said 50% brightness

I have a question about Wi-Fi calling too. Does it save battery compared to not using it?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I don't know how you're not getting such screen on time, to be honest. It's obviously dependant on what your usage is like while using your phone.
With me on stock kernel, if I'm just browsing around XDA or the internet I'll get around 8 hours screen on time (at least from how long it seems. I haven't confirmed and actual length of time so it could be less or more). Whereas if I'm playing Shadowgun Deadzone constantly, I can still get around 5 hours screen on time with 4 hours constant play of it.
If I remember, I'll get some actual proof of my stats over the next few days.
Dont worry about it. Even I get about 4 hours only. This is with 25% backlight indoors and 75% outdoors and heavy regular use. We dont have wifi calling or anything like that here. It is on 3G HSPA+ network and I get just above 4 hours of on screen time till battery goes below 10%. Lot of people disable lots of stuff like automatic syncing and turn the brightness all the way down. I dont do any of that. My gmail, twitter, drive, G+, Pulse, Hangout are all running in background syncing and doing their stuff (the only thing I have done is to tell G+ to upload only on wifi ).
7hrs screen time is easily achievable on this phone with 12hrs + uptime.
Theres a dedicated thread on this already if u wanna go read how guys are setting their phones for this.
My use is as follows to get 7hrs...
*Wifi only browsing (no mobile data)
*Auto brightness during the day and low at night.
*Eliminate as much wakelocks as possible by not using auto syncs in apps etc.
*I'm rooted so i use "Greenify" to make sure apps go into hibernation after I close them.
*I use Titanium backup to freeze bloat ware I don't use.
Apps such as Skype, Facebook, Viber etc etc are Known drainers so keep an eye on them if u use them.
There prob more that I can't think if right now but with the above set up, you will easily get between 5-8 hours screen on time.
