Has anyone found a car mount specifically for a Dell Streak 7?
Sure, I know that the Arkon mount works. Yes, I know Ram Mount makes a universal one. But I want one that is made for the Streak 7, much like the one that Dell made for the Streak 5.

I ordered a cheap ebay mount, and a cheap ebay hard case/cover. I'm going to cut the "fingers" off the mount and put velcro on it. Then put velcro on the cheap case and I should have a decent looking mount that's easy to put the streak in and out.
If it works, I'll post some pics.

Just got the Otterbox Defender case and was wondering if anyone found an adapter that is that same as the one on the dell suction cup mount?
I have a few proclipusa mounts for older devices I would like to convert for this purpose, either with glue, screws or solder...

If you look at the belt clip you will see it has a universal mount slot on it. I mounted one of those in my vehicle and use the holster to hold the Streak. Works well I think.

Here are pics of the car mount stalk and the bracket on the back of the part that holds the phone. bracktron makes mounts that have the same bracket as does rocketfish. The image on the left is the bracket, the one on the right the end of the stalk.
See this review at StreakSmart for pics of the back of the Defender case showing the mount attachment.
I picked up a Rocketfish branded car mount with the same bracket at Best Buy for $10. It is almost identical to the Dell mount bracket.

I have the official Dell car mount attached to my dashboard using the circular sticky pad.
In the summer it's stuck there like you wouldn't believe. In winter, I just can't get it to stick. The pad is still firm to the dash, but the suction mount will not stay attached for more than about 20 seconds.
Any suggestions short of some sort of permanent attachment?
I'm in NY.

Same issue here
Just wont stick when the glass is cold...
However once the glass gets warmed with heater on for sometime, it does...
I tired many many things but nothing seems to work
However i use a garmin gps mount and that sticks all the time...
My next step would to modify that mount to replace my streak mount
I don't know if they hold any better but Rocketfish and Bracketron both make a mount that has the same attachment point as the Dell car mount. I picked a Rocketfish mount for a spare at Best Buy for $10. The suction cup on the Rocketfish is clear and the Dell mount is black.
Just in case you didn't know the Dell mount has two positions for the grip lever. Make sure you are pushing it all the way down.

does the same for me... damn thing pops off my Harley windshield either first thing in the AM or in the PM.
Best I could do clean the cup and glass very well and put the cup on it wet
I've read on gps forums that a drop of vegetable oil, vaseline, or chap stick might work. Worth a try.
I've got a good reaction time now though. I can take one hand off the wheel and catch it before it hits the centre console!

I've just made the switch from iphone and need a new cradle and fm transmitter for GPS navigation in the car.
One slight complication is that I have just ordered a Otterbox defender case which going off the iphone version is quite big. I had this problem with the iphone and the solution was to buy a generic / universal cradle that can be adjusted to the otterbox dimensions. The Streak however has a the charging dock in an unconventional position which means most holders obstruct the port with the clamp. Therefore I am on the look out for a case which with the following capabilities:
1. Fits the dimensions of the Streak + Defender Case
2. Keeps the charging port free

I only need the holder for the kayak so i can use my navionics on the ponds and lakes, i have the mount already mounted in the yak and use the fitted holder out of my car when i need to.
Just google SlipGrip for dell streak with Otter Impact.

I tried it and it's horrible. Wont stick on my car and the streak wont stick on the holder

Just ended up using some little brackets and vhb double stick tape. Hasnt fallen off sknce and my xar is a very stiff ride, I feel every little bump

I bought mine the day u posted this on e-bay and its the best for the Dell streak 5. arrived in the mail last week (the both of them) the original car mount from Dell is fantastic plus u can use the XM-Radio vents .pocketables.com/2011/03/xm-radio-vent-clip-mount-fits-dell-streak-car-kit-holder.htmlwhich gives u a better and closer feel to the device while you drive. Buy both from e-bay cheap. Please view link below
Slipgrip makes a great holder and they have versions from naked to otterbox defender and all in between. Check them out on ebay

eBay has them but I remember seeing one that held various Otterbox cases somewhere....
Mine snapped and the part that holds my phone broke... I'm also looking for a car dock myself.
I'll sell ya mine. PM me if yer interested. I never use it. It's in perfect condition.
I've also got a car dock I'll sell if anyone wants it. I hardly use it now and I'm moving to the city next week, so I really won't be needing it now.
I don't have the car charger, just the dock.

I have a Rocketfish mount I got at Best Buy for $10 that has the same style attachment point on it as the defender case. Bracketron also makes mounts with the same type attachment. You can get a variety of 'stalks' to mount the defender on.

No - it seems that Best Buy has switched to Bracketron for their universal GPS mounts. Search BB's site for 'universal gps mount'. You can find the rocketfish mounts on eBay - same search term.
