I've got a Tab flashed via Odin to Gingerbread, all working very well, but for some reason, switching from portrait to landscape or vice versa on the home screen is very slow to redraw, up to 8-10 seconds. I've got three screens running, with a handful of widgets (which I removed to see if that's the problem, it wasn't) and eight application folders.
Any idea what's causing this? Is it normal?

anyone else experiencing this?
it takes my phone a good 2-2.5 seconds to wake up (screen to turn on) after i press the home button.
is this normal?
Which firmware? And are you running a custom lockscreen? It might also happen if you are running lots of apps (But I am guessing)
i'm using a korean anycall m110s on firmware dh19.
no custom lock screen and the only app running in task manager is launcher pro.
mines about half a second regardless of running apps, on JM1

Not normal, but it happens to me sometimes as well. Sometimes it takes so long for the screen to accept input that the phone goes back to sleep before I can enter my passphrase on the lockscreen!
I suspect most of the time it's probably some poorly written widget that's updating itself or the like. Check your widgets and see if any of them (like Beautiful Widgets) have a "refresh data on wakeup" type setting that may be keeping the system busy while waking the screen.
Try removing all widgets and adding back one by one after you see that the last one added doesn't cause the problem.
I've also noticed that with certain music playing apps running, the system is often very difficult to wake up.
did you try turning off media scanning?
it makes a hell lot of a difference
i've tried all suggestions and still no luck....
i have no idea what's causing this. my other friends who have galaxy's dont have this problem.
any recommendations??
as a quick update: with the music app running w/ music playing, there is zero lag when waking up the phone via the home button...
is there a solution to this?
I'm experiencing the same thing, it is so frustrating!
I tried several roms, samsung based, AOKP, AOSP, stock...on all there is a lag...
tried a fresh install without restoring apps, tried it without installing anything and no luck
I can not believe that a high end phone like the sg2 has a bug like this, surely there must be a solution to this??
edit
just realized this is for I9000, I have I9100
Dont worry i think. The same thing happens on my s3 also galaxy note is the same screen wakes up after 2-3 seconds ..
But interesting thing is,my i9000 wakes up just about half sec )

I have an odd issue that seemingly started out of nowhere. If I turn my phone to view the screen in landscape, it won't switch back to portrait when I flip it back upright. It doesn't matter what app I'm using or if I'm on my home screens.
I can turn it off and turn it back on and it will correct itself (assuming I power back on holding it upright). When I say "turn it off" I mean just turn off the screen, not a full reboot. What is odd, is that if I flip the screen 180 degrees it will reorient to the other landscape - but never go back to portrait without powering cycling. To me this seems to indicate that it isn't the accelerometer, but who knows?
I was running CM9 nightly from 04/19 at the time and updated to the 05/12 nightly to see if that would fix it (and see what was new in the ROM). I am on the stock CM9 kernel, no OC/UV. I am running LauncherPro free version.
I'm not sure if some random app may have updated that started this or what. I hadn't changed the ROM or monkeyed with anything for at least a couple of weeks prior to this.
I did a search and the only similar issues I found were all from last year and it seemed like "DeskHome" app was the problem. Most of those folks were having it permanently stuck in landscape, where mine will correct itself by power cycle.
Mostly this is just annoying but I'm hoping someone can help.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions what to check?
I recently installed CM 10.1.2 Stable and it was working fine until about a week ago - great work, thanks to the Devs.
The problem that I am having is that the home screen and drawer is locked in portrait mode. I have tried EVERY setting I could find and it only stays on portrait. All the other apps stay in landscape when rotation lock is on (my preferred usage mode) with the exception of the dialer and the lock screen. The only time the home screen behaves is when I put the device in it's car dock - THEN it orients correctly.
The actual events right before it went wonky are as follows:
1) I was using it in the car dock, turned off the vehicle, and removed it. The lock screen seemed to be taking it's time orienting.
2) While I was fumbling with it I dropped it on the corner closest to the USB port (I know, normally it's in an Otterbox but I had just pulled it out of the car). It also got a little moisture on it, but none appeared to penetrate.
3) After I dropped it, everything was stuck in portrait mode - all apps, etc.
4) I restarted, and then did a cold boot, and it got to where I am now.
I have tried reinstalling CM, and various combinations of car dock/rotate settings but I'm baffled. It is my understanding that the accellerometers might cause bad rotation behavior, but it doesn't affect the other apps. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
R

If that happened after your dropped it, you can try to recalibrate the accellerometer (if that's still an option on the cappy).
If that doesn't work, you can always try to flash stock odin KK4 without bootloaders (after a backup of course). But my guess is that it's hardware related so flashing won't change much.
If all fails, you can contact Josh @ mobiletechvideos.com. He's well known around here for fixing cappys.
Hi!
The most troublesome problem is that after a bit of use (playing a video (480p, so not even HD), some game (not more than a half hour)), the phone seems to unable to recognize tapping on the screen. Only a complete shut down, then reboot is the solution so far, since a reset only gives a bit more time before it starts to act up again. The phone is not overheated, neither out of memory, nor have it's battery going low.
I also have a problem with the setting of a wallpaper. I can't set two different wallpapers for the home screen and the lock screen, it just won't work. If I set one for the home screen, the same picture is going to be set as a lock screen too, but if I try to set another picture for the lock screen, nothing happens and the picture remains the same as the home screen's.
Hello,
I have a problem which I do not understand.
I changed my screen and battery 1 month ago, everything went fine and was working flawlessly.
Now a week ago, after waking up, the screen started to have different parts of it turning to black for milliseconds. It got better when I used Advanced Kernel Tweaks to use performance profiles which solved the problem for a few hours ... But then it progressively went back within the day, even changing to default in AKT resulted in nothing good. I was on the EpicROM, I did notice that some apps were not affected at all, like, it never bugged on the Settings menu, when pulling the notification bar or when watching a Youtube Video, the second I touched the screen the black bars went off and everything went back to normal for a few secs.
Sometimes the screen is responsive during the black bars, sometimes it is not. The black bars are very special, most of them appears in the center of the screen or at the bottom and all of them are the same size (may be ~1 cm).
I uninstalled and wiped my phone to install Lineage OS but the problem is still there. However I noticed that during the installation there was no problem. I mean when I had to press the button "Start" on the screen to begin the setup, there were black bars. But during the process of setting things up, the screen was perfect (Wi-Fi registration, Google Account etc).
That is why I think it does not come from the new battery or the new screen. It may must have something to do with the software but things get out of my range here so do you have any idea how I could fix that ?
Another problem I have for a few weeks was that my browser or apps that have browsers sometime froze. (I tried Brave, Opera, Firefox, Reddit, Chrome was less buggy but it happened) Could it be linked ?
I am really out of ideas ...
