I recently installed CM 10.1.2 Stable and it was working fine until about a week ago - great work, thanks to the Devs.
The problem that I am having is that the home screen and drawer is locked in portrait mode. I have tried EVERY setting I could find and it only stays on portrait. All the other apps stay in landscape when rotation lock is on (my preferred usage mode) with the exception of the dialer and the lock screen. The only time the home screen behaves is when I put the device in it's car dock - THEN it orients correctly.
The actual events right before it went wonky are as follows:
1) I was using it in the car dock, turned off the vehicle, and removed it. The lock screen seemed to be taking it's time orienting.
2) While I was fumbling with it I dropped it on the corner closest to the USB port (I know, normally it's in an Otterbox but I had just pulled it out of the car). It also got a little moisture on it, but none appeared to penetrate.
3) After I dropped it, everything was stuck in portrait mode - all apps, etc.
4) I restarted, and then did a cold boot, and it got to where I am now.
I have tried reinstalling CM, and various combinations of car dock/rotate settings but I'm baffled. It is my understanding that the accellerometers might cause bad rotation behavior, but it doesn't affect the other apps. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
R

If that happened after your dropped it, you can try to recalibrate the accellerometer (if that's still an option on the cappy).
If that doesn't work, you can always try to flash stock odin KK4 without bootloaders (after a backup of course). But my guess is that it's hardware related so flashing won't change much.
If all fails, you can contact Josh @ mobiletechvideos.com. He's well known around here for fixing cappys.

Something strange happened to me today.
The unit lost power, the screen went weird, then the unit shut off.
After charging it when I got home, I wasn't able to boot it; it wouldn't even go into recovery via home & end.
I saw something online where someone suggested trying to go into recovery mode with the keyboard open.
This worked & I wiped & reflashed the SuperBad rom.
What I've come to realize is that my display isn't working at all when the keyboard is slid under the display, or shut - so to speak.
Any ideas? Might there be a 'simple fix' to this that I don't know about?
Also ..
What happens when I close the unit is that a bunch of black lines appear across the display (looking at the unit in Portrait mode).
Looking at the unit in Landscape mode, the lines appear vertically across the screen & the homescreen appears to not rotate, but stays in Portrait mode.

Everyone that I have talked to has said it is a possibility that it is the ribbon cable for the keyboard. The replacement procedure for that is a bit complex (small parts involved) but it is possible to fix. And truth be told, I could also be totally wrong. But you had said that you re-flashed it and it continues the same problem. That sounds more like a hardware issue and less like a software issue.
I have an odd issue that seemingly started out of nowhere. If I turn my phone to view the screen in landscape, it won't switch back to portrait when I flip it back upright. It doesn't matter what app I'm using or if I'm on my home screens.
I can turn it off and turn it back on and it will correct itself (assuming I power back on holding it upright). When I say "turn it off" I mean just turn off the screen, not a full reboot. What is odd, is that if I flip the screen 180 degrees it will reorient to the other landscape - but never go back to portrait without powering cycling. To me this seems to indicate that it isn't the accelerometer, but who knows?
I was running CM9 nightly from 04/19 at the time and updated to the 05/12 nightly to see if that would fix it (and see what was new in the ROM). I am on the stock CM9 kernel, no OC/UV. I am running LauncherPro free version.
I'm not sure if some random app may have updated that started this or what. I hadn't changed the ROM or monkeyed with anything for at least a couple of weeks prior to this.
I did a search and the only similar issues I found were all from last year and it seemed like "DeskHome" app was the problem. Most of those folks were having it permanently stuck in landscape, where mine will correct itself by power cycle.
Mostly this is just annoying but I'm hoping someone can help.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions what to check?
I've been having a bit of a strange problem lately - sometimes my phone won't enter the lock screen. I'll turn the screen off, or let it go to sleep, and then when I go to turn the screen back on again (could be hours later), it goes directly to the home screen, and never see the lock screen. This makes it very easy to pocket-dial, or launch apps - my pocket started blaring music one day.
A restart seems to fix it for a little while, but within a day it will start doing the same thing, and I don't think I saw the lock screen at all yesterday. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? It started a couple months ago, but it seems to be more frequent now.
I am currently running Motorola Milestone, CM7 (kabaldan's beta with swap enabled). It was also happening some with CM7.2.1
Thanks in advance!
Anyone have any ideas?
Another interesting point is that after NOT seeing the lockscreen, and then playing around on the phone, I'll open one of the apps (say the browser), and THEN it will drop into the lockscreen. So right in the middle of doing stuff, it will make me have to unlock the phone. Can be a little frustrating.
This is the top 8mm of the screen. It makes it difficult to go to quick settings or enter a URL or search since they require touch in that area. When it happens it will always be the top even when rotated witch I hope indicates its not a hardware issue. When I first noticed it I booted into safemode to see if something I installed or a tweak I was running. It worked, the screen was fully functional but when I rebooted it was working. So I chalked it up as a fluke that was fixed after reboot. Since then it has happened several times (including as I type this thread). I am very close to doing a complete system wipe and restore. I should add I do run a custom ROM (Pure Nexus), I am running Exposed with Nova launcher.
Any help would be apreciated.
Probably exposed.
Hello all, so recently I dropped my phone from a decent height, but it worked fine that night, and even the morning after, didn't even crack.
It started acting weird and going black when I would swipe down my notification menu, and I'd have to restart the phone each time, but if I got rid of those notifications it would work alright for a couple of minutes and go black. After restarting it a few times the Samsung logo didn't even show up anymore and the display hasn't come on since then, even in recovery mode. I can hear it booted up, and have even plugged it into a DeX dock to use it, and that works fine, even the touchscreen, just no display. I've flashed the latest software onto it using Odin, and still nothing.
So, my question here is: Could this possibly be a software issue? Or does it seem more like the display was damaged in some way or another, (or even possibly came disconnected from the motherboard?)
I appreciate you reading my post, and wish you all the best,
Briggs
