Where are the kernel sources? - Dell Streak 7

I see DJ_Steve is working on a couple of kernels, and has them working on our Streak, which I'm falling in love with more and more each day.
So where is the source code for the kernels? I'd like to play around a bit, myself...

Please do not post Questions in the Development forum Thanks
Moving to General

the stock 7 kernel is at opensource.dell.com as for the one im using for honeycomb i cant release that as i dont have access to the source (the godlike mate of mine who hacked it together hasnt deemed me worthwhile of having it)

How is the honeycomb kernel you are distributing exempt from the GPL? Once you release it, so must the source be released when asked for.

Well, very soon we will see if Nexus hardware is really nearly identical to Vibrant's and if the kernel port is straightforward... I surely hope so

Who needs porting when you could build a ROM straight from source?
This maybe be a bit of a n00b Question buuuuuuttttttt.... What does this mean or potentially mean for us SGS owners?

It's the source code. So developers could build new ROMs based on Gingerbread and since Nexus S is pretty similar to galaxy S, it's a lot easier to come with better ROMs than stock., faster.

I haven't really seen anyone address the fact that these phones have different file systems. Wont our RFS file systen be an obstacle? Or will it make porting as much work as CM is?

Looks like sd drive, wifi, gps, and bluetooth modules are different in Nexus S. and on top of that Nexus is using iNAND and Vibrant RFS. Remember how difficult it was to port Galaxy S rom to Vibrant, well looks like this brings the whole new meaning to difficult.
What you are forgetting is with the i9000 source and nexus source it is possible for a full port

Sweeeeeeeeeeet... Can't wait to see what happens with this. Hopefully Gingerbread for us before even Froyo is officially released.

I guess they got tired of waiting for Verizon to get off their ass and release it. Ball's in your court now, big red!
Um... where do you think big red gets their sources from? lol... Nobody has the source until google releases it.
I think he meant releasing the nexus. Not source. Their taking forever to release nexus so Google released source.

Google hasn't even released the Nexus yet, so of course Verizon won't have yet. They usually release the source right around the same time the corresponding Nexus device hits, so if this is any indication, the GN is right around the corner

Pretty awesome, does this help us?

I'll post what I posted in the other thread since this may get more traffic
could some devs explain to me what type under the hood improvements ics offers over gingerbread. specifically concerning battery life, will ics roms for the vibrant have better battery life than gb roms?
CAN'T ****ING WAIT UNTIL CM9!!! I'M GETTING MOIST JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.
Awesome news! Looking forward to seeing how ICS's benefits work out on the Vibrant, especially hardware acceleration (finally).
Where are all the devs? Thought this thread would be flooded with comments, I guess the vibrant is just too old now??

Starting with IceCreamSandwich, the Android Open-Source Project can't be used from pure source code only, and requires additional hardware-related proprietary libraries to run, specifically for hardware graphics acceleration.
Official binaries for Nexus S, Nexus S 4G, Galaxy Nexus, and PandaBoard can be downloaded from Google's Nexus driver page, which add access to additional hardware capabilities with non-Open-Source code.
There are no official binaries for Nexus One, ADP2 or ADP1.
Original source here: http://source.android.com/source/building-devices.html

Hold on to your horsies people, it's gonna be a long time before we see ICS on our Vibrants if at all we do. Porting ICS is much more difficult than GB I believe. And we all know how difficult GB was.

Similar in the sense that many months out with non-official 2.3 we still have buggy and feature incomplete gingerbread derivatives?
The only real upside, given that the phone stopped being supported by Samsung and T-Mobile ages ago, is that the uphill struggle with ICS will probably be no worse than it was with GB.
dont forget our non FFC phones, are gonna make face unlock obsolete... and ones with FFC probably too low resolution and speed...
But doesn't the fact that cyanogenmod officially supports the vibrant mean that when cm9 hits, that all non-nexus devices aren't too far behind? Isn't that the point of "officially" supporting a device?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Sounds like no device left behind eh guys?

Why aren't we getting ICS??

Looking at the other devices HTC G1, Sony x10i, Motorola defy, Samsung gs2...all have started getting ICS but we have no hope.... not a single dev has said anything about it.... is this phone so alienated from the scene?
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk
My guess is it's a question of popularity. Of course, devs will start porting to their own phones first. For example the GSII was named the phone of the year (I don't believe it) so many people got their hands on it. The Incredible S will be able to run it and its only a question of time I'm sure until someone decides to port it over. Personally, I got my money on CyanogenMod to bring it over here first as an AOSP port.

Steve Kondik said to "check back in a couple of months" after the ICS sources got released, but it's a very rough timescale.
Nightly build servers are busted at the moment, probably back up after the weekend.

Android L source going live in AOSP

http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...ve-aosp-includes-support-nexus-4-5-7-2013-10/
GPL?
Serious question,
Aren't they violating the GPL by not posting the kernel source yet?
Or is the assumption that they are releasing it soon so all is well?
Its about time really. I had just read this and thought oh the conversations on Xda right now lol but no not much at all
You lucky you got this. Remember honeycomb, the source wasn't released till after ice cream sandwich was released.

I really peeved at Google right now, and I REALLY hope that this is nowhere near final code. Google disabled translucency for the N10 AGAIN. Either Google somehow doesn't even own their own product and are building blind, or they're just incompetent. There was no performance loss at all on 4.4, yet the disabled it because it "performed poorly." Same with ART, but I don't think Google can get away with that on L(unless they're like "screw you manta, no default runtime for you")....Sorry, I'm in rant mode right now. :silly:

The nexus 10 is such an ill treated device by Google that even in the I/O keynote when they used the nexus 10, it was running 4.3 looool
And Google even used a Samsung tablet for some parts of the demo in the keynote.

No i mean partial because it's just a preview build. They only have to released source code for what they have put out. The preview build is broken and has all sorts of stuff missing. Its not a full complete build.

They only released source for GPLed code changes and only those that were in the L preview build, everything else was filled in with a recent snapshot from the Main branch. I don't think that building this source branch would even allow you to recapitulate the "full" L preview build on either of the supported devices.
Anyone tried compiling it? Does it finish?
