Why aren't we getting ICS?? - HTC Incredible S

Looking at the other devices HTC G1, Sony x10i, Motorola defy, Samsung gs2...all have started getting ICS but we have no hope.... not a single dev has said anything about it.... is this phone so alienated from the scene?
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk

My guess is it's a question of popularity. Of course, devs will start porting to their own phones first. For example the GSII was named the phone of the year (I don't believe it) so many people got their hands on it. The Incredible S will be able to run it and its only a question of time I'm sure until someone decides to port it over. Personally, I got my money on CyanogenMod to bring it over here first as an AOSP port.

Where did you get that number from fe11gila?
Does it also mean no more Nightlies until then? I wasn't around for the Gingerbread release.

Steve Kondik said to "check back in a couple of months" after the ICS sources got released, but it's a very rough timescale.
Nightly build servers are busted at the moment, probably back up after the weekend.

Incredible S is not that popular among devs. That's why you on see a handful of roms compared to other phones.

+1 where is your source?

We don't really have to wait that long for ice ... the nightly servers aren't busted ... they have been switched off cuz Steve and team are merging ics into the cm source ... compiling from source at that time would just get us a pile of piggeon poop ...
As you can koush already has cm9 alphas out for the nexus s ... now its merged in ... its up to Steve to implement his tweaks... and attn1 and -Kali will get it up and running in the Inc s ...

I guess they got tired of waiting for Verizon to get off their ass and release it. Ball's in your court now, big red!
Um... where do you think big red gets their sources from? lol... Nobody has the source until google releases it.
I think he meant releasing the nexus. Not source. Their taking forever to release nexus so Google released source.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Google hasn't even released the Nexus yet, so of course Verizon won't have yet. They usually release the source right around the same time the corresponding Nexus device hits, so if this is any indication, the GN is right around the corner

[Q] Cyanogen Mod 9 ?

Hello everyone, I've a little question for you ? I'm wondering when Cyanogen Mod Team will release 9th version of it ? I'm a bit confused, I check daily Twitter/Cyanogen site.. But nothing.
If Anyone can tell me
Ps; Sorry if this post exists yet :/
Nobody actually knows. On the cyanogen site they have a rule that you don't ask for ETA because they do it for free etc. Its ready when it's ready they say.
So guess we shall have to wait and see

Indeed. There are some beta versions out people have created. Look in the other sections of the incredible s forum. But a few of them have bugs e.g camera not compatible.

Unfortunately htc has not released it's drivers voor the Inc S, so it is very hard to fix the camera.. Hope the get it soon!! I'll guess the are working hard on it!!
Who is the dev for CM9 that owns the Incredible S?
They keep adding to the list of "included in next update" on the nightlies page. It's definitely coming for IncS.

I do agree and I have been playing a lot with this ROM. However the camera issue is related to HTC. They didn't release the source code of the camera drivers yet.

CM9 is a long way off. There was a post just recently on Google Plus about the way they're trying to work in the options. This is why the tree is still at early alphas. Yes it's ICS, but it's lacking much of the nuances that would make it CyanogenMod including most of the options that we've come to know and love. I'd be surprised if we saw CM9 nightlies for the IncS before late February/early April.

Well most of the developer tried the same for us, but it's stuck at boot animation, I mean causing boot loop.
Problem must be with ramdisk and audio flinger.
Desire s has about 3 cm developers, working with their phone
We don't have any cm developers, apart from a few trying

From what I can tell (not being a dev myself) there are some problems unsolved so far:
- cam's not working (HTC didn't release sources so far)
- some hardware not working (HTC didn't release sources so far)
- there are too few cyanogen devs for our phone
Oh - did I mention HTC didn't release sources so far???

HTC will probably push the time frame until ICS release worldwide is complete. That probably won't be until the end of August. ICS on BM hasn't been released as of yet.

Donation to CM team to provide us CM10?

Who is in? I'm willing to donate up 20-30 dollars.
Is it really worth taking the chance? X amount of people might donate up to $300 and they still might not give us CM10, after all they are not obliged to as its a donation. Where as new devices are getting CM10, so a port would be a more viable option?
Just my opinion.

Accidentally posted this under development. Wanted to post it under general. I was more like we will donate IF you promise to provide. But I should make that donation in any case since I've been using CM7 for a year now.
I believe instead of paying them, if we pay our local or forum developers we could get some more and amazing ROM as compare to CM10.

No. I like a smooth ROM with good battery life. I have tried several others, but sooner or later I have turned back to CM.
I would love CM10 on more HTC devices... we didn't even get a CM9, not did the Desire HD... both capable devices. Hopefully using HTC's source code the team can make something happen. They're doing a fantastic service.

No Vivo isn't in the "Stable" list, last official CM version for Vivo is 7. something...
So yeah the reason i posted is for someone to try and use maybe HTC One's rom and see if it could be reworked for Inc S.
We already have CM10 build with us. But we have one huge roadblock, we don't have asop kernel to run this ROM.
I think this post should have been in general section and not in development section.
