Why doesn't IncS have CM10? - HTC Incredible S

Since Desire S have had CM10 for a long time, why isn't there a CM10 ROM for Incredible S? I think the 2 devices are almost the same...

Well most of the developer tried the same for us, but it's stuck at boot animation, I mean causing boot loop.
Problem must be with ramdisk and audio flinger.

Desire s has about 3 cm developers, working with their phone
We don't have any cm developers, apart from a few trying
Sent from my Incredible S

Even the desire z have cm10 ;

We barely have cm9

There are several of us trying, but you know what is really helpful? Once a week, someone opening a new thread telling us we don't have it working yet.
Really motivating that is....

From what I can tell (not being a dev myself) there are some problems unsolved so far:
- cam's not working (HTC didn't release sources so far)
- some hardware not working (HTC didn't release sources so far)
- there are too few cyanogen devs for our phone
Oh - did I mention HTC didn't release sources so far???

When?

HTC will probably push the time frame until ICS release worldwide is complete. That probably won't be until the end of August. ICS on BM hasn't been released as of yet.

Sick. Next phone = only Nexus.
Goodbye HTC.

Other phone makers have improved their release times but HTC doesn't seem to think the rules apply to them.

Wow, hopefully now developers can create ICS inspired custom roms. Cheers!
there's like 10 of these over at the dhd section lol

Where did you hear this?
These are the files you need to port a device. They need to be altered severely to run on the incs. Extreme development knowledge is needed to make use of this. However a developer could grab bits and pieces from it if they have greater knowledge in one area than another.
The ics update will be coming to this and many other htc devices as stated yesterday to myself in a bell store by an htc rep.

"Right now[...]"
You see? I'm talking about what they've said so far, but what'll happen in the future; sorry, I can't tell and therefore I won't do anything else then hope that HTC will give us an official update to 4.0.
But from what Google said when they showed 4.0, I think that it'll come to the IncS. Sometime.
And to your last part; no, they didn't.
"We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich."
From the same link that I linked in my previous post. So, I'm fully aware of the fact that this only seems to be a preliminary statement from HTC.

Why aren't we getting ICS??

Looking at the other devices HTC G1, Sony x10i, Motorola defy, Samsung gs2...all have started getting ICS but we have no hope.... not a single dev has said anything about it.... is this phone so alienated from the scene?

My guess is it's a question of popularity. Of course, devs will start porting to their own phones first. For example the GSII was named the phone of the year (I don't believe it) so many people got their hands on it. The Incredible S will be able to run it and its only a question of time I'm sure until someone decides to port it over. Personally, I got my money on CyanogenMod to bring it over here first as an AOSP port.

[Q] Cyanogen Mod 9 ?

Hello everyone, I've a little question for you ? I'm wondering when Cyanogen Mod Team will release 9th version of it ? I'm a bit confused, I check daily Twitter/Cyanogen site.. But nothing.
If Anyone can tell me
Ps; Sorry if this post exists yet :/
Nobody actually knows. On the cyanogen site they have a rule that you don't ask for ETA because they do it for free etc. Its ready when it's ready they say.
So guess we shall have to wait and see

I do agree and I have been playing a lot with this ROM. However the camera issue is related to HTC. They didn't release the source code of the camera drivers yet.

CM9 is a long way off. There was a post just recently on Google Plus about the way they're trying to work in the options. This is why the tree is still at early alphas. Yes it's ICS, but it's lacking much of the nuances that would make it CyanogenMod including most of the options that we've come to know and love. I'd be surprised if we saw CM9 nightlies for the IncS before late February/early April.

haha i know dude i was being sarcastic
if I remember right, l0st.prophet already developed a kernel some time ago. so i guess he has the knowledge.
but i am pretty sure that htc releases the kernel sources when the desire s OTA update is finished. then all updates are done (the bad DHD news were not bad news in this case so far)
The DHD news is bad I think, because we are only marginally better specced/newer than them, so does that mean we only just scarped in the requirements for ICS and therefore may possibly be overlooked for JB? Not saying we WILL be, just that our phone will be the same age as the DHD is now when they start rolling out the JB OTA to phones like Sensation and One phones

Personally I don't think HTC will give us JB. So we're probably on our own this time. But if the rumor that "JB is not so much different from ICS" is true, then we're likely to get a port, at least AOSP/AOKP.

Does anyone know if Nik has asked the CM devs from Desire S Nexxx and NK111, some of the other devs? IIRC it was superkid or nk111 who fixed the audio flinger
There isn't a lot of point to this for devices that officially have Android 4.0 (saga, vivo e.t.c) as HTC will have to release kernel sources to comply with GPL. The vision and ace will not be getting an official 3.0 kernel, therefore no source, therefore the need for a port.
As far as Nik's JB port he is having an issue which others seem to have encountered but we are unable to get any information on how it was fixed, appears to be a scheduler issue.
This post belongs in general.

So yeah the reason i posted is for someone to try and use maybe HTC One's rom and see if it could be reworked for Inc S.
We already have CM10 build with us. But we have one huge roadblock, we don't have asop kernel to run this ROM.
