I agree. Stock it isnt that great, definitely with the bing. Not a bad phone stock tho, i used it stock for about a month.
But once you root and put gingervolt on it, it is amazing. Mt has done some great things with this phone. (and root is easy now with his kit in development section)
The LG Revolution has very little community support. I wouldn't get it if you like having the latest in Android. Get a Nexus phone instead.

Wait a week, see what's happening with the nexus.

The LG Revolution is a very good phone. It has a terrible draw back, it doesn't have anything to make it a "flagship" phone. It doesn't have expansive speaker sound. It doesn't have wicked gadgets and dodads. It isn't the thinnest, the lightest, it doesn't have the best screen. Honestly, if you want a phone mentioned above, they are out there. What this phone is, is a phone. But what this phone has, that no other phone has: fans. It has the most loyal fan base of any phone I have ever seen. I have had many phones, and the forums, and the dedications to the development of this phone, are beyond anything you can imagine. And a lot of these guys have never developed until this phone. If these guys were not here, there would be no LG Revolution today. But through, their hard work, dedication, and our desire to want more, the LG survives. LG knows this, they know we are here, I hope they use it as inspiration to create a better phone.
The phone has no major issues. The phone is easy to unlock, get in, and rom away. It is a treat to be able to flash something new, in 5 minutes. Unfortunately, because this is not a "flagship" phone, there is a limited number of developers. But there is a plus to that: quality roms, themes, and mods.
I love my phone. I love the community. I have upgradeitis (to be unhappy a day after owning a product, and a desire to buy bigger and better) (my wife hates it) but I am completely happy with this phone. I don't know how many days I have until I can get a new phone, because I don't care. I am more than fine with using this one, until I get piss ass drunk and destroying it in a mad rage. (story is for dramatic purposes only)
Pretty bad I would say. Especially if you already have a Droid Charge. It has crappy stock software and an overall unrefined feel that usually comes about with LG Android phones. Not even close to being worth wasting an upgrade on especially with all the nicer phones available. Honest opinion lol

And honestly, from the Charge, you are looking at a step up in looks alone (Charge is dang ugly) but mostly it would be a step over, if you remain in stock.
I bought this phone for two reasons: cnet had a review, that compared it to the iphone. (although, it really doesn't beyond the surface, I think the iphone has a better core system) And with in a day, it was opened and unlocked. With in a week it was Superoneclicked. That kind of openness has not been seen for awhile.
If you choose to wait.. I would wait until the Googlrola comes out. Android is all about being open, I would hope that their phone would be as well. It may be a bit, Tmobile, and Sprint will have first crack at a completely Google phone. Until then, you could have this gem.
So I just looked up Motorola in the news, and they are already planning for the RAZRMAX, it will have a better screen than the Samsung Galaxy, and a bigger, better battery.
Some may call me crazy, but I actually upgraded to the Revo from an iPhone 4 and never looked back.
The community, the ease of modifying, and general fun-ness of the phone really made me happy.
My one major complaint about the phone is the poor battery life.
Good programs exist to help out with that, they just don't play well with the phone.
Other than that, I have never regretted the move.

Indeed, but to my recollection, it was notable compared to the Iphone in that department. There are programs, and over and under clocking that can be done. Like I told MT, I just did the Gingervolt 1.3 and the new kernel, and I have a really good battery life. With in the next couple weeks, as Android learns, it will get better.

Well, I don't think any of us have the original home screens. As far as me, I run gingervolt 1.3, Mt has screen shots on the development pages. And then I am using meezys theme? I should really put that in a signature so I can remember. Its either that, or indys.

So there's no possible way on earth this phone isn't the greatest device ever made? And your opinion is a fact where mine is "attributed to drug use?" That's pretty childish I think.
I've used the Charge, HTC Thunderbolt, Droid X, Droid 2, Droid 1, Incredible, Fascinate if i'm remembering all. Did you just upgrade from a LG Dare or something? In comparison with these and other phones the Revolution just feels cheap and unrefined. Look anywhere on people's opinions of LG android phones. They aren't exactly in the highest regard. But that probably won't matter to you since someone with opposing views must be on drugs.
It helps looking at things objectively, just because you use this phone doesn't make it great. Also stop writing off your opinions as facts, and let the person decide.
OP get the Galaxy Nexus if you want something that will actually have the current software and will be supported in a timely manner. Also it's a polished and smooth device as evident by the reviews. A future proof device worth upgrading to I would say.
The revolution is the worst of the big screen LTE phones on Verizon. Anyone telling you different is fooling themselves so they can be happy with it. I highly recommend not getting it. In fact I'll ask you not to get it, as I dont want to see Verizon or LG make another dollar off it. Many people have already jumped off board and many others wish they could.

Okay, All the people on here ripping this phone apart. No right now I wouldn't get this phone again given the choices I have of other LTE phones that have been released since this phones inception. If I went back to when I got the phone there is no other option for me. I think the Charge just looks like a piece of junk (if you like it go for it and buy it). The Thunderbolt is HTC and I'm just anti-HTC because of sense. With the phones out now I would either get the Droid Bionic or wait another month or 2. I don't want the Galaxy Nexus because the storage isn't removable (it's either that or the battery. Either way that's no go for me.) The RAZR doesn't have a removable battery so another no go for me there too. Who knows what will be out in a few months. Above all else OP get what you want. Go to the stores and play with each phone for some time to get used to it. Also, don't forget that Verizon lets you switch phones as long as you do it within a week. At least they used too. I hope this was helpful
If it was today, I wouldn't get this phone.. just like all hardware, new and improved hardware is delivered every day... but when I did get this phone back in the summer, I wouldn't have chosen anything else.. I picked it over the iPhone, over the thunderbolt, and over the charge... several things made me pick it.. the big screen, Netflix( at the time it was the only phone with Netflix.. ) and finally, IMO,it has the most responsive touch screen I have ever seen.. my gf likes it much better than her thunderbolt..
If you can get this phone for under 150 I would still get it today, even with the lte lineup.. it is much better than a lot of their premium phones and 100 times better than their cheap lte android phones..

Don't waste upgrade on this phone!!!!!!!! GNEX is coming out on Dec. 9 and the RAZR is awesome itself. You will regret getting this phone once you see how the razr and gnex work. They are both clean and fast. If the gnex has a better radio than previous Samsungs, it will be the bees knees.
hey im interested in buying. I am moving from an atrix 4g but keeping it just incase. im wondering does this have fully functiong jelly bean? and is it easy to root? idk what else to ask but feel free to convince me!
This phone has a great community and is easy to root. ICS or JB should be near fully functional shortly (thanks guys!) - looks like the camera is among the last few remaining speed bumps. Still, consider all your options - some people prefer a manufacturer driven ICS/JB build over a community project. It all depends on what's more fun for you.

Get the droid 3 if you want full QWERTY.
Without the qwerty, there are quite some phones that are better (more ram, faster cpu, better screen, full android 4.x)
im a bit confused. soo is the droid 3 basically in the same state in the atrix or like the camera just isnt working or something?
Camera isn't working right now. It might never work, since we lack the proper drivers to make it work. Just buy it if you want full QWERTY and is short on money

I'd suggest you to stay away from this phone for your own sake. Or buy it second-hand for not more, than 200 bucks. The worst smartphone ever made.
TOTALLY DISAGREE. BEST QWERTY DEVICE EVER MADE!
I owned these Android devices, and find the Droid 3 the best: HTC Hero, Motorola Milestone, Samsung Galaxy, HTC Desire, HTC Desire Z, Motorola Milestone 2, Motorola Droid 3.
There is only one downside for me, no official ICS.
It's display is GREAT, especially outdoors. You can use FM Radio, Camera is perfect (with the right modifications), battery life is good, keyboard is awesome, build quality top notch.
There is no reason to describe it as "worst smartphone ever made"...

Totally agree with you, but there is one single point making the device great micro-tab with QWERTY - as the phone with CDMA networks device is extremely poor. It doesn't work with non-Verizon EV-DO networks, therefore loses the network pretty often and reboots deliberately twice a day. Half-time the phone is offline and this makes the device of totally no use as communicator.
Did you apply the GSM option that leads to much better reception? It gave me the double amount of signal bars and stopped loosing signal immediately.

I like my phone but the lack of a stable update is kinda saddening but we got a high quality dev and he is working on it.
It's great if you don't mind lack of official OS updates, and if you can find one without keyboard issues. I've got one of the ones with bad keys and it makes the keyboard pretty much unusable. Aside from that, though, it's pretty fast and capapble, has a nice screen, feels pretty good in the hand, and has a variety of accessories available.
Omg why Optimus 4x is so Dumb Mobile in forums. It has all Awesome specs Equal to One X and S3 Of course S3 Is Awesome :fingers-crossed:
What I wanna know.
Why is Optimus 4x not listed in Top Mobiles It has good quadrant standards Better than One X and equal to S3, But why this Optimus Big man Suck.
All I know No open Boot loader (**** Lg Sucks in this Support) But I have 2x Which became popular even before it is released:highfive: I suppose><.
And reason I like Lg Awesome Quality and Service For Low Price.
And reason I hate Lg Worse Software support (Reason: Lg Did not comment on when 4X will have Jellybean And if this is case We will never get Lime Pie), I swear I completely bought this mobile hoping Cynogenmod Will highlight this Big Boss, But I am sad when the News came, P880 may or may not have Unlocked boot loader(http://cafe.naver.com/androidhacker/487(Translate IT)), Guys I wanna make this Mobile competitive to S3 Common Devs.
So don't complain and search for good devs experienced in Tegra.. the bounty and cash for the phone are waitin.
When the bootloader goes unlocked, our device will be for sure in top.

Even with locked bootloader and the sh*tty camera, I wouldn't change the O4X for any Shaysung or iFone
Not that I'm LG addicted, its in this case, its a question of design. O4X is one of the few phones in the market with solid, simple and atractive design.
Not forgetting that is a great device with a good performance.

I couldn't agree more. I had been out-of-contract on my last phone (HTC Desire S) for 6 months but there was nothing out there I wanted enough to take a new contract. The 880 changed all that - it has everything on my wish-list - removable battery, SD-Card, and it looks good. I don't want a phone to look like a pebble or a bar of soap. I want it to look like it does. Even if we never get an unlocked bootloader, I can handle this phone for the next 18 months or so on Stock.

I think LG designs well and they have good specd phones. Ibelieve many people like their phones, we are just skeptical because of their non-chalance with updates. I played with this phone last week and I love it but I don't think I will buy it just because of the lack of update issue.
P880 the best phone i have used yet, infact all the LG phones ive used. User experience with Samsung phones are just incomparable to LG, putting aside their designs.
Btw LG started making electronics way before Samsung did.

this is my first LG phone, and so far it is very likable. A few years back I wanted to buy KM900 and I bought iPhone 3G. I went from Nokia N97 to wifes iPhone 3G, for which she said that she does not want to use it. What a blessing that was going from Nokia to iPhone. The only good thing about N97 was its battery time, camera and speaker. I did not regret from going from Nokia to Apple it since it is working until today.Last year when I first wanted to upgrade because of the camera to something with flash and more than 2MP I wanted Optimus 2X, I had it for a review, but did not like its back and slow camera.Somehow I could not get used to Android either. Starting this year I really liked Optimus Black, but they sold all of them, so when I was in Barcelona on February, I saw Optimus 4X. But the iphone 5 was suppose to be launched soon.Nothing happened with Apple, so during waiting I was checking out S3, 4S.After iPhone came out I did not want to get in the line, and also somehow, the price issue and availability
of the iPhone 5 made me think twice. I own my old iPhone 3G, but after years of using it it was time to change. Waiting for iPhone and than paying for it 729€ was not an option, I needed a new phone, so I decided to buy Optimus 4X. Camera could be faster doing the autofocus thing or shutter, but I think that can be solved with an upgrade. If someone knows something, some fix, please send me a pm. Panorama could be made with 8MB not just in VGA mode, could be solved with firmware also. So far I like it for the same reasons most of you guys-girls do.
I choose this over a S3 due to the shape, I like a brick phone, I dont want a "pebble" , had a LG phone before and hated it, but I gave this a go, I love the phone, I do find my S2 screen was a bit more sensitive to touch then this and a few software niggles, but hardware its good and has good scope if we can unlock its full potential!
Anyway,
I will not say Samsung sucks or is best because samsung s3 too have update issues, Orizon s3 do not have unlocked bootloader, And to say frankly i myself hate similar shapes of s3, And i think u guys should watch this video on xda TV.
Samsun hate developers using there devices, They don't know why. But actually samsung became so famous only because developers.

Hi,
I am looking forward to buying a new phone (Android). For my currently owned HTC IncS, I am quite satisfied the way custom ROM have turned up. Well, that would remain one of the major criteria for my new phone as well.
Currently I have Samsung Galaxy SIII in mind but I also need advice on which phones are likely to be 'alive' in terms of development around new Android releases, etc.
Note: I searched for other similar topics but none touch on this area

IT depends on what you are interested, screen, nfc, lte...
IDK if samsung has already published the new lte versione of s3 with 2gb ram...
Samsung's end phone has s-amoled display, you'll have to adapt yourself because the difference in colour is huge from out phone ( in worse or better it's personal)
Personally I would like to buy the nexus 4 (best quality/price, but soo much difficult to obtain). time by time I've appreciated android aosp over sense ...
M7 should be a great choose but it's too soon to talk about it...

If you could wait for HTC M7, it's gonna be new flagship phone of HTC. But if you want to buy a phone right now, I suggest Samsung Note 2. One of my friends has that one and it is wonderful. Smooth, fast and graphically outstanding phone.
Just tried out the Nexus 4 yesterday... Holy sh*t!! What an awesome piece of joy!
M7 will probably rock also I'm not sure about Sense 5 though....
SG S IV is coming – with the new ROMs keeping us going for a bit longer on Inc S, this might also be a contender for potential upgraders.
I would consider another thing when buying a new phone: HOW u get s-off'ed or rooted...
I would prefer to root using a bug and "not" voiding warranty, rather than ask asus or htc to unlock my phone and say goodbye to warranty...
I was using Incredible S too until last month when I finally got the Nexus 4. For this price, nothing much can beat Nexus 4 at this moment. The only complain I have is I wish the screen can be bigger......
I played with the HTC Butterfly last week in Taiwan during a business trip. Wasn't very impressed......
I would think in terms of development, SGIII would be a safe choice, although I think Nexus phones are the best in terms of the amount of active and future development since they are the first to get OS updates. The only thing that stops me from getting one is the lack of a removable battery and Microsd storage, which are things I don't want to go without. If those things are important to you, I'd probably go for the SGIII. Just my 2 cents anyway
Xperia Z especially if you are up to serious customisation since Sony is being very very kind to devs now.

Nexus 4 all the way if you can manage to get it for 300$ anyhow !! Nothing really beats this phone in any aspect at this price tag !! If I have unlimited data plan + Dropbox acc then it's ok for the lack of storage. So basically no cons at all
And about the all glass design get some cover and you will be ok.
Nexus 4 = amazing display + amazing camera + amazing hardware + updates + amazing design + premium feel (not cheap plastic s**t ) and a lot of ram ... and many more
What can you hope for more in a smartphone??

The way the phones are built for example - I don't like the look of the phones or the way the buttons are set out.
The software and overlay I also don't like.
There's more than just this ^ however when I test the flagship models of Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG, I just don't get the same feel from the Sony and LG as the HTC and Samsung.
But like I said, I just haven't had good experiences with sonys. Saying this though, i haven't used the new Sony phones so they may have stepped up!

Everyone here owns one I assume.
Should I buy a droid 4?
And what are the pros and cons?
Online video reviews are way to biased
It's all up to you. If you MUST have a physical QWERTY keyboard, then it's probably one of the best choices, but here's my own list of pros and cons:
Pros:
-Decent dual core processor, can be overclocked up to 1.4 GHz using myfishbear's scripts
-One of the best hardware keyboards you can find on a phone
-Build quality is good, feels sturdy
-Call quality is clear, haven't had any dropped calls
-Screen is pretty bright when you need it to be
-Loudspeaker is... loud.
-4G speeds are supposed to be good, but I haven't tried
-8MP camera with 1080p video
-Docks available (I use a Motorola Atrix 4G dock that I bought for a cheap price, modified it a bit and works fine)
-Global use possible due with GSM
Cons:
-Screen's Pentile - nowhere near as clear as a non-pentile screen, e.g. HTC One X, it's not HD, and black levels aren't low enough at high screen brightness
-Camera's photos may be slightly washed out, definitely doesn't beat an iPhone 4S (as much as I hate to admit it)
-Limited ROM activity, like most Motorola phones (but there are good ones available)
-Accessories limited, as with all hardware keyboard phones (few choices in cases, etc.)
-Interface lags behind slightly at times, but very little
-Internals are outdated as of 2013, since quad-cores are the rage now
-Battery life won't last with heavy use
At present, the Droid 4 is close to the best you can get with a hardware keyboard, but don't expect the screen to astound you like the newer models' would. If you want a hardware keyboard and can wait, I'd suggest waiting for a successor, maybe a Droid 5.
Droid 5? Somehow I doubt that will ever come out. :-/

-Screen is pretty bright when you need it to be
-Loudspeaker is... loud.

-8MP camera with 1080p video

If you're mainly going to text, I can't see why it shouldn't last a day - as long as the screen brightness is kept low, and the Wi-fi off. You should try one out if you can first, to see if the screen's not a bother for you.

Ill just wait til the droid 5 (IF there is one)
but the D4 is a decent phone im sure
Droid 5? Feel like 30/70 it wont happen. How much did the guy want for the phone?

We agreed on a trade;
My razr hd for his droid 4 plus $100
We met and I felt the droid 4 was too bulky and not and style at all, so i said no
I don't know about the 100$ with it... just my opinion.. good thing you didn't get it...

How much is the Razr HD? You can get the D4 on ebay for $140 - 190, any day of the week.

JB was announced, but unlikely before summer imo. You got shafted my friend. People who are having problems, ie broken droid 4s are being given droid razr hds. I only use keyboards, thus only the droid line....put your phone in 3g and be happy. Batter life isn't bad per se, it is small however at 1785mah. Other than that, the phone is excellent. Screen is too bright for me, but that can be fixed.

I didnt do too bad though....I payed $199 at verizon...send a $50 rebate (so I only payed $149) and the guy gave me $50
so I essentially payed $100 for a sealed Droid 4
and im much happier as of right now
I do miss the HD screen and the big screen BUT i love the keyboard and to me its worth it
I miss read what you said... I thought you had to pay him the 100... I just sat mine on my stove... bye bye warranty... hello root...

NO NO haha ide never do such a thing
i went to verizon and got my upgrade to razr HD (payed $199)
then verizon has a rebate for $50 (so take of $50 from that and now I only payed $150 for razr HD)
then met guy from CL, he gave me $50 plus a new droid 4
so in all actuality I only spent $100 to get this phone (with contract)
and I just bought the droid bionic lapdock (i read reviews and all says it works, even with ICS)
Im excited for that to come in the mail in a few days!

Everyone here owns one I assume.
Should I buy a droid 4?
And what are the pros and cons?
Online video reviews are way to biased

well let me put it this way. i dont know if moto is gonna realease a D5, and im all for the fingerprint lock.. that is hot. but im going to buy a 2nd D4 and maybe even a 3rd to make sure i got a kickass qwerty to suit my needs. the d4 is great.. it's more like a computer with phone functionality than a phone.

Ya ive had it a few days and overall love it
I just bought a lapdock for it as well
The only issues I have with it are the lag it seems to have once in a while and the battery is pretty bad.
But besides that I have to say I love this phone
Now I think droid 5 is possible...moto recently released that keyboard phone for at&t or sprint photon q or atrix q or something like that
So we will find out soon enough
i would recommend trying to freeze unnecessary apps. and uninstalling the bloatware. sped mine right up to 400mb free memory. now i can run any number of my apps and the multitasking works great too on ics. even after a reboot. didnt want to run a custom rom so i sorta cleaned up the stock to suit my needs with the root script and link2sd.
JB is supposed to be released soon. within the next 8 weeks i think, so will be looking forward to that. and we'll know if a droid 5 is on the way by the end of february.
would love a 13/16mp camera, 2 or more gigs of ram droid 5 with the new flexible unbreakable screens. that would pwn.
