Possible Brick - Nook Color General

I was trying to create a dual boot SD Card and I think I bricked my Nook.
First, I flashed Phiremod to my card and everything was successful. There is an option to "add" CM7 and I tried that and thought it didn't work.
Later I flashed Divine Madcat's Honeycomb Hybrid to my SD card and it is running successfully.
I popped out the SD card to run the Nook OS and nothing. Instead I have the load screen for CM7.
What do I do to get the Nook OS back and is it possible to just flash another rom to my SD. HELP!!! What's a man to do?
Thanks!

I'm unsure as to how you went about this. What method are you using to install these roms? Are you using the dualboot phiremod/honeycomb .img? And what option are you talking about "option to add CM7"?
Need some clarification so I can help troubleshoot ur issue.
Thanks,
Racks

In the section of Rom Manager there is a menu to add roms. I added CM7 and nothing happened... or so I thought. It told me to add through clockwork recovery.

If you try to flash through rom manager. It will flash to your emmc and not ur sdcard rom . So it probably have written over your emmc boot and system files.
Did you flash the CWM Recovery through rom manager as well? If you did. That will overwrite your stock recovery. So you wont be able to do the 8 failed revolts to return to stock.
Check in the dev threads for steps to restore your nook to stock rom.

Ok thanks... I'm new to the whole rooting thing. I figured it had flashed to the internal memory. I finally got the boot screen off and I have a fully running CM7 on my Nook. Looks just like Phiremod minus a few features. I'll look to restore back to stock in the other forum.

it's actually the other way around. Phiremod is based from CM7.

question about running from SD

Hey guys-
Quick question for you. I see that you can "burn" a bootable SD to run Honeycomb, Froyo, etc. from the SD without having to install it to the internal memory. Are you still required to root the device if you use this method? Can I pop in the card when I want to mess around with those version of the OS, and simply reboot without the card in to go back to the BN stock OS?
Furthermore, can this also be done using a pre-rooted 1.1 image? I would like to play around with this, but the wife doesn't want me breaking her device.

Cool. I've seen the instructions for Froyo and Honeycomb. Is it possible to boot a pre-rooted 1.1 image from SD, since 1.1 is obviously the most stable?
I have a question along this line...
I once-upon-a-time messed up a rooted NC after installing CWR and then Flashing Recovery. Something happened to the flash and when I tried to 'Reboot into Recovery' it would loop at the 'Touch the Future of Reading' and wouldn't even allow me to get to CWR or the stock recovery.
I solved this issue by creating a Froyo bootable SD and then loading CWR via ADB into the Froyo environment. Once I did that, I open Rom Manger and flashed recovery again. This overwrote the bad boot sector I had and then I shut down, removed the Froyo SD and was able to boot back into my rooted stock rom from internal.
My point being that even though I was running a booted virtual environment, I was able to affect the internal areas.
What is the line between virtual environments and real? What are the types of actions I should NOT do while running a bootable SD if I don't want to mess up the built-in rom?

[Q] Nook color SD card/booting/CWM problem

My nook color isn't necessarily bricked.... I have phiremod v2 installed on it and for the last 3 days have been trying to uninstall/flash another ROM so i can go back to phiremod v1 or try another ROM. However, I absolutely can not get my nook to boot into clockwork recovery. I've tried every size of the CWM download ranging from 128mb-8gb (my card). I've tried monster's rootpack and everything. When i burn it with winimage, it makes the bootable SD card like usual when i flash roms, but my nook doesn't recognize it and just boots up like normal into phiremod. I've tried EXT4 versions of the CWM and still nothing happens. It just boots normally every time. If anyone knows what to do i would be forever grateful........Thanks in advance for any help, i'd be glad to return the favor somehow.
an addendum to my previous post - my nook is now bricked. i tried rebooting it and once it was off, it will now no longer turn back on. of course i can't use a bootable SD card because they no longer work in my nook
just waiting, and when it released EXT4 internal CWM,
Try a Complete format of the SD card and then Flash a Virgin Nookie Froyo rom on it. Also remember that Windows only sees the first partition of the MicroSD so doing a Normal format will only Wipe the First partition. I reccomend the GParted Live CD if you don't have Linux to make sure you completly format the card to FAT. If you can get that working browse the Topics in the Dev forum and Find the one on Reflashing Virgin Stock. If you can't get Stock reflashed then you're sortof screwed because you can't just send it in to B&N in the condition it's in.

I have the same problem but I am using phiremod v4, I have flashed CWR using Rom manager and nothing, it just keeps booting into phiremod. I tired using a bot-able CWR sd card that worked in the past. The problem actually started while I was in CWR and it basically crashed on me and booted into phiremod, I now cant for the life of me get back into CWR...
In the end you have no choice but to flash back to virgin stock. I reccomend making a Nookie Froyo card to mount the emmc and recover what you can and then follow one of the guides in the Dev forum to completely wipe and restore virgin Stock.
Doing anything else at this point just decreases the amount of possible data recovery.

I was trying to backup my autonootered 3.0 stock, I flashed cwm using the rom manager method, rebooted. Now I can't get out of cwm, it keeps booting to it after a full power down and power on. Also, my SD card won't mount so it won't read whats on it. Any help/suggestions please?

Are you POSITIVE that the partition on the bootable sd extends ALL the way to the zerobit? If you have consistently flashed sds of bootable .imgs, and none work, check that first, next I would assume that you need to push RecoveryFix.zip from other thread.
Ir you don't mind time-travel back 7 years....

I downloaded stock firmware from our site here and placed the zip in my SD card. Cyanogen logo comes up and when I look at everything, it seems that Phiremod is still in play. I even removed all (?) Phiremod and Clockwork Recovery files / folders fom the SD Card. Should I be starting with a fresh SD card and / or removing the card, doing some factory reset and then reinserting the card with the stock firmware?

[Q] How to get out of honeycomb v4 running internal eMMC

I am running honeycomb for my nook color internally. I flashed it using clockwork mod recovery off the sd. but when i tried to flash back cm7, it didnt boot after i flashed it. help please.
wrong forum but try holding down the "n" nook button during the boot process.
Did you have Clockwork running on your SD card? Did you remove the SD card before you booted?
I am pretty new to this, so I may me wrong. But to me it sound like a you need to fix your boot partition.
I had the same problem which I fixed it by wiping my system/data/boot and restoring from a backup. Then installing the custom rom.

Yeah sorry for that. You can flash my repartition zip file in my nook color restore to stock thread (bottom)..
Then flash CM.

CM7 booting into CWR possible?

Hey guys I was wondering if CM7 can boot into CWR through the rom manager app, when I attempted this with phiremod's rom it wasn't possible so I reverted back to nookie froyo. Since CM7 RC is now out, is it now possible to boot into CWR?
I know it's possible to boot into CWR if you use a sd card with the clockwork image on it. But my issue is I only have 1 sd card to work with which I use for storage. Thanks for any responses.
with the burned image it didn't work for me for CM7 i just used rom manager and hit reboot into clockwork recovery and did it that way fixed my sd card and now everything works beautifully
It's possible for me on Phiremod...?

There is a new update to CWM, 3.0.1.0, that can be installed directly onto the internal memory and won't cause the boot problem. I believe you can find the official thread here on the xda forums on how to install it. And I also believe this works on all roms now, although read carefully to make sure.

[Q] Nook Color Will Not Boot, At All

My Nook Color is stuck at the grey 'n' screen. I rooted it at version 1.2, then decided I wanted to try to use it with Froyo. It booted up fine, then I got the flashable zip and ran that from a CWR sd card. Now it will not boot (stuck at ANDROID_). I've tried to restore it from CWR with the Nook-complete-restore-1.0.1.zip, that didnt work. I tryed using the images from <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919353>. Same issue. I do have access to adb from the booted sd card on CWR or Froyo. My main goal here is to just get it to boot into the normal, unrooted state it came in and work from there.
Thanks in advance guys
Are you using the latest version of CWR (3.2.0.1)?
Follow the instructions here: http://mrm3.net/nook-color-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-nightlies/
I think I was using 3.0.0.6 for some reason I'll give that a try and get back
YOU CANNOT BRICK THIS b*tch!!!

I've tried and tried to brick this SOB - cannot be done. Slip in a boot disk and voila it's back. Amazing this beast it is!
Make a boot disk M8.
