[Q] How to get out of honeycomb v4 running internal eMMC - Nook Color General

I am running honeycomb for my nook color internally. I flashed it using clockwork mod recovery off the sd. but when i tried to flash back cm7, it didnt boot after i flashed it. help please.

wrong forum but try holding down the "n" nook button during the boot process.

Did you have Clockwork running on your SD card? Did you remove the SD card before you booted?

I am pretty new to this, so I may me wrong. But to me it sound like a you need to fix your boot partition.
I had the same problem which I fixed it by wiping my system/data/boot and restoring from a backup. Then installing the custom rom.

Then flash CM.

[Q] Nook color SD card/booting/CWM problem

My nook color isn't necessarily bricked.... I have phiremod v2 installed on it and for the last 3 days have been trying to uninstall/flash another ROM so i can go back to phiremod v1 or try another ROM. However, I absolutely can not get my nook to boot into clockwork recovery. I've tried every size of the CWM download ranging from 128mb-8gb (my card). I've tried monster's rootpack and everything. When i burn it with winimage, it makes the bootable SD card like usual when i flash roms, but my nook doesn't recognize it and just boots up like normal into phiremod. I've tried EXT4 versions of the CWM and still nothing happens. It just boots normally every time. If anyone knows what to do i would be forever grateful........Thanks in advance for any help, i'd be glad to return the favor somehow.
an addendum to my previous post - my nook is now bricked. i tried rebooting it and once it was off, it will now no longer turn back on. of course i can't use a bootable SD card because they no longer work in my nook
just waiting, and when it released EXT4 internal CWM,
Try a Complete format of the SD card and then Flash a Virgin Nookie Froyo rom on it. Also remember that Windows only sees the first partition of the MicroSD so doing a Normal format will only Wipe the First partition. I reccomend the GParted Live CD if you don't have Linux to make sure you completly format the card to FAT. If you can get that working browse the Topics in the Dev forum and Find the one on Reflashing Virgin Stock. If you can't get Stock reflashed then you're sortof screwed because you can't just send it in to B&N in the condition it's in.

I have the same problem but I am using phiremod v4, I have flashed CWR using Rom manager and nothing, it just keeps booting into phiremod. I tired using a bot-able CWR sd card that worked in the past. The problem actually started while I was in CWR and it basically crashed on me and booted into phiremod, I now cant for the life of me get back into CWR...
In the end you have no choice but to flash back to virgin stock. I reccomend making a Nookie Froyo card to mount the emmc and recover what you can and then follow one of the guides in the Dev forum to completely wipe and restore virgin Stock.
Doing anything else at this point just decreases the amount of possible data recovery.

I was trying to backup my autonootered 3.0 stock, I flashed cwm using the rom manager method, rebooted. Now I can't get out of cwm, it keeps booting to it after a full power down and power on. Also, my SD card won't mount so it won't read whats on it. Any help/suggestions please?
Here's how to Remove CWM and Flash back to Clean Stock:

Are you POSITIVE that the partition on the bootable sd extends ALL the way to the zerobit? If you have consistently flashed sds of bootable .imgs, and none work, check that first, next I would assume that you need to push RecoveryFix.zip from other thread.
Ir you don't mind time-travel back 7 years....

I downloaded stock firmware from our site here and placed the zip in my SD card. Cyanogen logo comes up and when I look at everything, it seems that Phiremod is still in play. I even removed all (?) Phiremod and Clockwork Recovery files / folders fom the SD Card. Should I be starting with a fresh SD card and / or removing the card, doing some factory reset and then reinserting the card with the stock firmware?

CM7 booting into CWR possible?

Hey guys I was wondering if CM7 can boot into CWR through the rom manager app, when I attempted this with phiremod's rom it wasn't possible so I reverted back to nookie froyo. Since CM7 RC is now out, is it now possible to boot into CWR?
I know it's possible to boot into CWR if you use a sd card with the clockwork image on it. But my issue is I only have 1 sd card to work with which I use for storage. Thanks for any responses.
with the burned image it didn't work for me for CM7 i just used rom manager and hit reboot into clockwork recovery and did it that way fixed my sd card and now everything works beautifully
It's possible for me on Phiremod...?

There is a new update to CWM, 3.0.1.0, that can be installed directly onto the internal memory and won't cause the boot problem. I believe you can find the official thread here on the xda forums on how to install it. And I also believe this works on all roms now, although read carefully to make sure.

Possible Brick

I was trying to create a dual boot SD Card and I think I bricked my Nook.
First, I flashed Phiremod to my card and everything was successful. There is an option to "add" CM7 and I tried that and thought it didn't work.
Later I flashed Divine Madcat's Honeycomb Hybrid to my SD card and it is running successfully.
I popped out the SD card to run the Nook OS and nothing. Instead I have the load screen for CM7.
What do I do to get the Nook OS back and is it possible to just flash another rom to my SD. HELP!!! What's a man to do?
Thanks!

I'm unsure as to how you went about this. What method are you using to install these roms? Are you using the dualboot phiremod/honeycomb .img? And what option are you talking about "option to add CM7"?
Need some clarification so I can help troubleshoot ur issue.
Thanks,
Racks

In the section of Rom Manager there is a menu to add roms. I added CM7 and nothing happened... or so I thought. It told me to add through clockwork recovery.

If you try to flash through rom manager. It will flash to your emmc and not ur sdcard rom . So it probably have written over your emmc boot and system files.
Did you flash the CWM Recovery through rom manager as well? If you did. That will overwrite your stock recovery. So you wont be able to do the 8 failed revolts to return to stock.
Check in the dev threads for steps to restore your nook to stock rom.

Ok thanks... I'm new to the whole rooting thing. I figured it had flashed to the internal memory. I finally got the boot screen off and I have a fully running CM7 on my Nook. Looks just like Phiremod minus a few features. I'll look to restore back to stock in the other forum.

it's actually the other way around. Phiremod is based from CM7.

[Solved] Boot repair

I attempted to put Phiremod onto my NC, but I formatted the boot partition so it doesn't start up. What's the easiest way to get my Nook going again?
Try using a CWR SD Card, and either flashing a nightly zip, or one of the U-Boot files floating around.
I think I just need to flash a proper boot file, which should I try for either CM7 or Phiremod?
Can anyone help me out? The sticky seems a bit outdated or maybe it's just confusing me.
I have a 2GB uSD card and I just want to try out Phiremod and the stable CM7 to see which I prefer. Do I have really have to restore to stock just to overwrite it again?
I decided to completely restore to stock firmware to see if I could get this thing to work. I downloaded the complete 1.0.1 zip, loaded it on my CWM recovery uSD card, formatted boot, system, data, and cache, flashed the recovery zip and then rebooted.... Didn't boot
I need help, what am I missing?
Follow sticky carefully, it works.

Do the 8 re-boot step. There is also a boot fix zip file or recovery zip file you can flash via your CWM SD.
I flashed the 3.2.0.8 recovery zip, but it still doesn't boot
Download this to your CWM sd card. And this. Then put in your CWM sd card, boot it up, flash the update_nc_stock_1.2.zip file, then ManualNooter. Take out the sd card and reboot. Should have stock + root.
Thank you, but I don't even want to use the B&N software. Either CM7 or Phiremod.
Can't I just repair the boot partition?
I went ahead and flashed the update-nc-stock-1.2-signed.zip then manual nooter
Took the card out and rebooted, nothing happens
Did you reboot? What do you see?
Nothing, screen doesn't come on
Help please!
Oh. Have your tried flashing this?
Where did you find that on the CM site? All I found under Nook Color were the 'update' zips
Downloading now
Ahh, it's a nightly CM7 build... I assume that it will completely format the EMMC?
Downloaded and flashed the latest nightly zip, still won't boot.........
Anyone else have any ideas I could try?
Perhaps I missed where you said you did it, but go back and take the Nook completely back to stock. I umderstand that you said you don't want to use to stock software at all, but you need to get it back to factory so you can at least boot the device.
Once you've done that, go ahead and follow the directions TO THE LETTER to load your CM7 or Phiremod.
Cliffs Notes: Trying to repair something when you can't even boot is a bit silly. Just start from square one and root. Enjoy!

CM Logo Only

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389813
Guys, I tried to install the new stable 10.2 with the 10.2 SD image.
Guess it failed. Seems like CM 10.2 is now my stock, as Nook stock won't boot. Boot CM instead, but logo stuck.
Did this overwrite my EMMC?
It's now stuck at the CM logo.
What should I do next?
Thanks!

Sounds like you were wanting to run CM on SD. If that is the case you do not use ROM zips from CM. They are designed for emmc. You must use the ROM zips from verygreen's thread.
To fix your stock, go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and flash the plain stock zip from item 6. If it still does not boot right, go back to CWM and do a factory reset.

I couldn't get the files to be Read from SDCARD because cwm didn't mount.
Anyways, other things happened after a Factory reset. I got CM 10.2 to work. Had no apps.
Luckily, I still had gapps on the internal EMMC.
After installing gapps for the second time it seems to work.
I still get the CWM SD booting, but it won't work anymore. How can I remove this old boot CWM for SD?
Thanks Again!

I was mistaken when I told you to flash plain stock and wipe with your existing SD. When you did the factory reset with your existing SD it wiped the SD data. That is why you had no apps. You need to make a new SD from my thread so that you can flash the plain stock and factory reset with that one. That will put stock back on internal. Use a different SD if you want to keep your CM10.2 bootable SD.

A CWM SD is bootable with a different CWM image. Problem is the remnants of an old CWM SD image changed the EMMC.
Without the SD Card I still see it boot, but you can't use it because no boot option. It's a left over from the CWM SD-Hybrid boot I used to flash ROM.
So the EMMC 10.2 boot isn't clean.
Thanks!

The problem is not only the CWM version that is on the SD, it is the ROM you were flashing. ROMs are hard coded to be put either on emmc or SD and it does not matter which CWM you use, it tries to put it on what is programmed to do. Now wiping is different. The CWM itself decides what is to be wiped, emmc or SD. That is why when you flashed that zip from the CM site with the CWM built for SD installs, it still put it on emmc instead of SD. But when you wiped, it wiped SD instead of emmc. That is why I told you to use a different SD with the CWM built for emmc to do the wiping of emmc.
