[Q] iptables on Nook Color - Nook Color General

I'm running CM7.0.3 on my Nook Color, and I'm at the point I need iptables support. I'm surprised CM doesn't support it, but it's apparently so. Does anyone know of a decent ROM (Preferably with Bluetooth) that supports iptables? Do I have to go back to my original ROM?

[Q] Has Anyone Gotten OpenVPN working?

Would make the GTab way more useful for me... The only problem I have is installing the TUN/TAP driver...
Since the kernel source hasn't been released, we can't compile the tunnel module... yet. It seems to be my luck that all the devices I have Android-wise haven't had their source released yet... GTab or Droid2. Ugh.
+100000000 I've gotten a taste for it by RDP'ing into my home computer and using OpenVPN to get into work so I can't wait for working TUN/TAP driver!!! Will complete my wishlist for this device
Thought I'd pop this back to the top - aren't the sources out now?
I for one would love to see this as well... makes life easier to get into my work server... Please someone... HELP..
Now if only I knew how....
I think rothnic was testing VPN support in the kernel when he compiled in CIFS and NTFS support, and it borked the Wifi. I am sure they'll get it sorted out soon.
Any word on OpenVPN support? I feel like I'm begging despite it being my first (er, second I mean) question about it, but it's really important to those who need it, despite being a small group.
OpenVPN Working
Hey folks I got OpenVPN working. I had to do a lot of little tricks on both ends but the thing that sealed the deal on the client side was to use gscript to enable the tap0 interface that is created when OpenVPN connects to my server.
Since I have the OpenVPN server on one side and I administer it I just set the IP statically on the GTablet.
I use tap0 based on my configuration
/system/xbin/ifconfig tap0 172.16.x.x netmask 255.255.0.0 mtu 1500 up
Just wish I understood OpenVPN better......
which rom?
Which rom are you running? I'm running TnT. I can't find a tun/tap for it.

Hey JungleGym I am currently using VeganTab 5.1 but I have gotten it to work on various ROMS (TNTLite and ZPad) Generally I end up using the kernel compiled by clemsyn but I am starting to question that it is needed. If I have a chance I might try to make this work with no kernel change. Usually use the two OpenVPN apps on the market, the installer and the settings app for the installer I use the xbin folder for the install and ifconfig location. Finally decked out the tablet so I am less prone to wipe and do whatever but with TNTLite with a new point revision out I am tempted to try it.

Has anyone tried installing Nook for Android?

I realize it is perhaps a strange question, but since the Nook Color doesn't work in Landscape mode and the Kindle software does- AND the Nook for Android software I installed on my cell phone also does, I would like to be able to swap the "broken" original Nook Color version and use Nook for Android.
I have tried a few things to make this work to no avail.
I recently appended ".bak" to all the applications with "BN" in the name in /system/app and restarted on the off chance that one of them was preventing it from working but no such luck.
I expect that if/when custom roms are available this issue will go away, but in the meantime has anyone else tried this or found a way to successfully get the nook ereader software to use landscape mode?
I installed it from the android market on my NC but it doesn't start regardless of orientation. No FC, just won't start.
Yep. Same here. Nook for Android won't start on the NC.
...Kindle for Android does. I believe this is called irony.
yeah kind of lame that it won't start. I'm curious as to wether it provides a better experience than the built in stuff. Ya never know.

Kindle for Android does? Hah! Any word on how it runs. Having one device with access to Nook AND Kindle content would be fantastic.
Kindle runs pretty well, really.
I like that it, unlike the stock Nook ereader software, will do landscape mode.
One bad thing that was pointed out to me is that the scroll bar to rapidly change pages is virtually impossible to use.

[Q] Is there a cifs.ko for the streak 7? Or something?

Trying to get this cifs manager to work on my streak 7, But I do not think that this rooted stuff has a cifs ability in its kernal. Anyone with abit more info know how to guide me into getting a correct cifs.ko up here for this?
Anyone have any info? Just wanna get the network sharing going. =) Play my videos over a network etc.
Bump, Was wondering if anyone has had any lucky on any method for network accessing files?
Noone's compiled one for stock 5xx roms, you might be able to bug DJ_Steve to add it into ICS if it's not already in. But keep in mind ICS is still very unstable.
I do believe someone's compiled one for 336, possible DJ_Steve as part of Streakdroid7 when it was based on 336.
Yea, I think steve did do one for the 2.2 but of course... after being on honeycomb.. I would HATE to downgrade again.
Hey is anyone who knows how, able to compile the kernel or least make the cifs.ko for us on honeycomb streak 7? Since cifs manager can load the file anywhere, would be nice to just have that file. I looked into it some, but really, not sure how exactly to go about it. Reading some about it, saying have to install a certain ubuntu version and go from there. Alot of work it seems. Would be willing to pay 5$ via paypal if you get a working cifs.ko for HC Streak 7 for me. =)
Going to try to get it included with the next ICS build but its not a priority.
Cool that its in ICS. (Now once radios work on it.. so I have my 4g and wifi working. Id be happy to install ics lol)
Offer stands for Honeycomb cifs.ko, willing to pay up to 10$ for a working file to use for cifs manager. Would love to put this on my dock and load up network videos on the side while playing my MMOs. =D

Rooted NC ROM Choices: Pros/Cons/Comparison Chart?

Search as I might, I've found nothing to go by that is close to being up-to-date; either on the XDA forums or elsewhere. I am attempting to figure out how best to root my NC to get the most functionality out of it. So far, I believe CM7 may be the way to go with it but I'm wanting to be sure before rerooting. Is there been any chart compiled with information about the different available roms specifically geared for the NC with the pros/cons/comparisons of the attributes specific to each rom? I'm also looking at finding any rom "Gotchas" as well. And please, before it even begins... I am not asking for opinions/favorites. I am looking for the facts and nothing beyond that. I want to push my NC to its limits but stability is still part of the end goal.
Thanks!
To my knowledge, no, there is no such comparison, primarily because of the intensity of CM7 development for the NC. There are forked variants of CM7, mainly Phiremod and MIUI (I believe the only version for the NC is the one built on CM7), but otherwise there are only far less robust options (Honeycomb preview/test builds) and outright obsolete ones (Nookie Froyo).
The other option is to root stock with ManualNooter, which some people do prefer.
All of the above are having issues with the Market right now, requiring some rather annoying temporary workarounds (setting dpi to 160 and frequently clearing Market data). Another "gotcha" if you use B&N content is that the Nook app's Search button is unresponsive in CM7, meaning you have to set up a Search softkey in order to use it.
The last stable release of CM7 is also a bit out of date, and you would probably be better served by a recent nightly (I've seen issues reported with 177, but 176 is solid), incorporating features like deep sleep, a built-in boot menu, fastboot, compatibility with the Nook Tweaks app (overclocking, voltage stepping, enhanced audio gain, and USB host) and kernel updates from B&N's last update, among other things.
Appreciate the input... I've been reading a lot lately and your observations fall inline with most everything that I'm reading. I had been using ManualNooter but I wanted to gut the B&N ROM altogether. I've loaded CM7 and it is working well. Couple market glitches (Version not supported, No Netflix showing in market, etc.) but mostly its working well so I'll keep plugging away. I had to do the LCD Density change in order to get Kindle to install but; ahhh, the joy of modding.
Again, thanks for your help!

I didn't say that Netflix wasn't working, simply that it won't update from the market from my early Netflix version. I am able to use the older one but it keeps crying about wanting to update upon loading. I cancel and then watch movies. I've not watched a full movie yet in this way so I can't say yet if there are any issues beyond the "won't update via market" issue.

[Q] HD+ Cyanogenmod bluetooth 4.0

Hi First time poster so please be gentle.
I looked for an answer to this but found very little inf.
The HD+ has the hardware for bluetooth 4.0 and therefore I presume BTLE.Does CM 10.2 enable these features? From the website it looks like it doesn't,it just says A2DP, AVRC, HID, SPP.Have the features not been enabled in this ROM?
Thanks
Does not work with my TI SensorTag (CC2541DK-SENSOR devkit)
So I think that BLE is not available in Nook HD+ with CM10.2.

Does anybody know if its implementation is planned?
There are lots of apps that are starting to appear that take advantage of BLE

News about BLE and CM11
Nook HD+ work correctly with TI SensorTag (BLE only device) after some tweaks:
1 - Add /system/etc/permissions/android.hardware.bluetooth_le.xml
hxxp://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/native/+/master/data/etc/android.hardware.bluetooth_le.xml
2 - replace /system/etc/firmware/TIInit_7.6.15.bts
with this version
hxxps://github.com/TI-ECS/bt-firmware/blob/master/TIInit_7.6.15.bts
3 - stop and start BT
After this tweaks Nook can see SensorTag and can read info from sensors.
