On my old desire when I select GPS tag on in camera every time i went into camera it turns on the GPS, but on the optimus 2x I turn Tag Location on, then take a few pics, leave the camera aplication, but when i open up the camera it has the Tag Location Off.
How can I keep the tag location turned ON, this is the whole point of GPS geotags.
Thanks.
Same here, can't work it out either for permanently turning it on. I'll keep trawling the net to see if I can get an answer. Others with a 2x must be getting annoyed with this?
Yep it's a silly system.
Doesn't affect me anymore, CM does it properly
Not only geotagging, but seems none of the settings gets saved when you close the camera app. I'd buy a third-party app, but so far none have all the features I want.

Hello,
is there a way to use the diamond as simple GPS Tracker. Nothing fancy
I mean a program that uses GPS to save waypoints even if (and that is the real trick) the screen is disabled. I want a solution that saves as much energy as possible to be able to track data for a long time.
I now there are tools as Glopus and so on, but they stop logging when the screen turns of.
Thanks for your time and help.

this would be intresting, currently i use my GPS to get elevation and tracking data to see where ive been, but the screen is a huge hog, sadly all my GPS programs seem stop working once the screen is off, and since its in my pocket the phone registers the slightest touch which wacks up the brightness , the only work around for that is to turn the back light off but this can make the screen almost useless in good lighting conditions.
Pretty sure TrackMe will do this. Search for it here, there is a thread on it somewhere
I could not find an application I like, so wrote my own. It still works with the screen off, and also can be set to start/stop GPS at required intervals. Here is my post:

Will check both
Hy,
today I have checked TrackMe, and that one looks good.
I have just had a quick look on the GpsCycleComputer, and it looks a little bit more like my tool. Not so much overhead I suppose
Thanks Martin
what about GPS TUner - I use it, and it continue logging even if the screen is black

I really like freeware stuff. Maybe I can learn something from Andie's Sources. That would be fun.
I think Glopus will do the job for the other tasks.

Has anyone had success scanning a barcode with shopsavvy or other barcode scanning app on a Hero. My camera just can't seem to focus. The lense is constantly scanning in and out trying to get a fix. The stock Camera works fine for taking photos. It seems the barcode scanning apps just don't control the camera properly.
Thanks
and yes I've cleaned the lense and am trying it in good light etc etc
yes, i use barcode scanner and it works fine.
Works great for me, I use Savvy and have had no problems. It will not focus in poor light, so make sure the barcode is well lit, and scanning through plastic film is sometimes a pain, but it gets there eventually.
I use both Barcode Scanner and Shop Savvy and both work fine for me. Both have a red line showing on the camera screen. Make sure that runs all the way across the barcode, so you need to hold it in landscape mode. Need to get close, but not too close, and wait because it often takes a few seconds to focus and recognise the barcode. It will then peep when it has picked up the barcode
Thanks for your replies guys but I've tried all ways of scanning - all sorts of distances away. The camera focuses then you can hear the lense click away as it loses focus. Then this repeats. It's as if it can't make it's mind up. Don't think it's a camera fault as the regular camera app works fine. mmmm I'll keep trying
you wanna solve the secret what rom you are using?

likely an issue with a rom, i used to be able to scan them easy now i find it a little harder cos i have to be a lot more still.
Yes here. Had the same problem on VillianROM 3.4 and Raidroid1.1.
Phone : HTC Hero
Network : Orange UK
ROM : NeORoM2.0b
Radio : 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26
Could BigD18t and jpaul3767 let us know what rom you are using so we can see which ones work ok with this app.
Thanks
Hi folks,
First off, I absolutely love this phone so far - I gave up my one M8 and 2014 Moto X for this guy and could not be happier. However, there are two things, not major dealbreakers, but are enough of an annoyance to really impact the enjoyment of this phone:
1) Location tagging in the camera: I love having all my photos geotagged - I love looking on the map, seeing where my wife and I have been, picking out photos from certain locations, etc - I always keep location tagging in my photos enabled on all my phones. the Moto X and One M8 never had this issue - but the xperia misses tagging photos with a location if I take the photo too quickly.
As soon as I fire up the camera app, the little satellite icon starts blinking in the upper corner. If I snap a picture before it "locks" and changes into a location marker, no location tag. If I force myself to wait for it to lock location before taking a picture, it adds a 3-4 second delay to each shot when I'm trying to shoot as quickly as possible (i.e when I take it out of my pocket holding the shutter button down to capture a passing moment).
This is a real annoyance - anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way around this? Using the "google camera" app, it doesn't have this issue, every photo is properly location tagged no matter how quickly I take the photo. But there seems to be no way to launch this app by default with the shutter button...
2) Power management "tip" spam - this is driving me nuts! At first it kept telling me to use stamina mode, so I did. Then it kept nagging me to turn on location based wifi, but I didn't want to do that. After about 6 times, I got fed up - held the "tip" notification down, went to "app info", which took me to 'extended standby controller' I believe. I unchecked "show notifications" there. But guess what - it kept popping back up anyway! So I finally gave in and turned on location absed wifi. Now it's popping up AGAIn telling me "TIDAL is keeping your device from going into standby." Duh, I'm listening to music, why does it have to spam my notification bar like this?
is there any way to permenantly disable these power management "tips"? I'm extremely satisfied with my battery life and have my phone configured exactly the way I like it - I don't need all these nags cluttering up notifications telling me what to do.
It was working fine on my morning drive. Stopped at my location, dropped off my errand, and as i was about to start my next drive my location can be seen as a blue dot on waze, but can't seem to "lock in" (turn into the small car) that allows you to follow the map, reroute, whatsoever.
Tried it with google maps thinking the issue is with waze, but the results are the same.
Searched for a fix and downloaded a GPS test app. It said "no fix". It can detect my location but can't seem to fix for whatever reason.
Tried my old note 3. Everything was working fine.
Tried to update all apps involved, even the phone itself. No luck. Brought it to the samsung service center. All they did was factory reset. They cant seem to find anything wrong. All sensors working. This is veeery frustrating.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
It looks like compass info is not available or just not processed, leading to navigation app (maps, here, or whatever) not knowing what your orientation is.
Is you compass working?
Does the blue dot change into car/arrow when you start driving? (like after 30 seconds or so?)
I have the same issue as you with Google Maps (only after I start driving I get arrow), but it works fine with Here (arrow immediately visible).
The compass is working, but the blue dot doesnt change into an arrow/car. service centers are useless as it seems like they have no idea what this problem is.

Anyone having a problem with the Huawei camera app not geotagging pictures correctly? Most of the time pics have the correct location, but a large percentage of the time, pics will be geotagged kilometres off. Two pictures taken in a row, first one is ok, the second one geotagged a few blocks away. This happens with location services (Google and Huawei) turned on, or with all location services turned off and supposedly relying entirely on the GPS. Doesn't happen with another camera app, OpenCamera. Also, track recording apps don't have a problem recording an accurate location. It's just the Huawei camera that's off.
Anyone seen this and maybe have a solution? Does it happen in EMUI 11?
Think I may have solved it. With Google Location Accuracy turned on, picture geotags are sometimes way off the current location. Turn it off, and so far they have been accurate. We'll see if it stays that way.
Nope not solved. I took the phone out on a hike yesterday. Google Location Services, Bluetooth, WiFi, all turned off, should be relying only on the GPS. Several pictures were geotagged kilometers away from my actual location. I was recording my track at the time on the phone and it appeared to be more accurate than my standalone GPS backup unit. It also baffles me why the camera app records the image direction in only a fraction of the photos
After much experimentation I've come to the conclusion that the geotagging in the Huawei camera app is inconsistent and useless. What a disappointment for so expensive a phone that takes such great pictures. Unless I'm using some special feature or can correct the geotags afterwards, I'm dumping it in favor of OpenCamera. Can someone suggest a better camera app?
