Bricked Tab, No Lights, No Screen BUT USB recognised. HELP! - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Ive bricked my Tab from updating to Gingerbread through ODIN, I knocked the USB lead out by accident. The bootloader froze and couldn't get it to flash again, so I turned it off (BIG MISTAKE) and now it wont turn on. It won't boot in to bootloader mode either.
BUT
If I plug it in to my PC, it is recognised as 'SEC S5PC110 Test B/D'. The drivers wont install, if I hold the power button while plugged in to the PC then it disappears from Device Manager.
Ive searched the forums and found nobody with the same 'SEC S5PC110 Test B/D' detection.
Could somebody please help me, I cant find my receipt for it and im worried about the price of the repair.
Many Thanks
Ryan

does odin recognize it ? if does , flash again gingerbread and this time be more careful

Thanks for the reply, I cant seem to get odin to recognize it. Only each time when I plug it in, 'SEC S5PC110 Test B/D' pops up trying to install drivers. I've left it to charge on the mains for the rest of the day and going to see if that helps.
Ive found a bank statement with my purchase on it, so I might be able to use that as a proof of purchase. Do you think I could get this repaired under warranty even though Ive bricked it?

Go ahead and do a RMA with Samsung, i'm sure they will send you a new device, or at least they can try to repair the broken one. Good luck!
PS. don't tell that you've bricked the tab!

I was trying to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 using odin3, and the process removed.
So i left it alone for a couple mins and the progress bar hadn't moved. So i unplugged the phone from the usb cable. Now the phone wont boot and wont go into download mode.
Any help would be massively appreciated.

I had this same thing done on my phone some time back.....!
since it is not getting into download mode just open odin first then connect your phone, hopefully it recognizes it.!
let us know if it works
There is no life on the phone at all.
Nothing lights up and nothing turns on.
When i plug it into my computer, neither odin nor my computer recognize that a device has been plugged in.
And i already checked the usb cable, works fine on my other phone
Thanks for the replys

well i guess its a hard brick after all.....
here are your options that you can do:
1. You can call up samsung/ ATT and try to get a replacement captivate (data on phone
will be lost)
2. You can send your phone to connexion2005 (mobile tech videos), the have an
unbricking service for 50$
3. You can try Adam Outler's UnBrickable Mod :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206216
Personally, I would take it to AT&T. I dunno how the stores around your area are, but I took it to a warranty center here in Cleveland, and they replaced it after looking at my old one for like 2 minutes. Sure it's a refurb, and it most likely will have a KB2 baseband making things a little trickier, but easiest (and cheapest) method by far.
How do you convince them to do a warranty claim with a bricked phone? Slightly curious. I know of insurance plans that provide more coverage but doesn't flashing the phone in any manner void the warranty on at&t, samsung, or even the insurance warranty?
Sent from my i897 running MIUI 1.8.12 with TalonMTD kernel.
Yeah im just going to go ahead and take it back to the att store.

UnBrickable Mod is not ready yet. We are working out the details of the communications protocol.
I provide JTAG unbricking service for $30. My method is a bit different then connexion2005. I don't fumble around with wires. I install a header which Samsung skimped out on during manufacturing. The header remains in the phone so it is a simple plug-in operation to reJTAG the phone later if required. This is the proper way of connecting to the JTAG port, through a JTAG header.

I'm in deep trouble please help..

I was running leaked version of UCKF1 2.3.3 then I found this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281221&page=1 so tried to flash it. I got an error of failing to upgrade and phone couldn't boot up. Then I tried heimdall one click unbricker and it worked. Then I decided to flash to stock and after odin said PASS the phone just died. It can't turn on.. no boot screen no nothing. I can't see anything moving or lighting on the phone. please help me recover the phone
It won't respond to any combos like "vol up + vol down + USB" or any others..
Search for Adam Outler's "Am I bricked?" Thread. Help you figure out where you are.
Did you you use 3 button fix jf6? If ya did you hard bricked.
Thanks for replies.
I'm hard bricked and as I get it the only solution is JTAG which is quite expensive and I'll have to send my phone to someone
Isn't there any other solutions? please help me..
Check out the UnBrickableMOD in the DEV section if sending the phone somewhere is not an option. High skill is still required but it's a good alternative if you know someone who is skilled with soldering.
I don't want to open my phone myself so I guess I'll have to send it to someone anyway.. If I use JTAG will my data be saved?
Don't pay for Jtag. Pay for Unbrickable mod. Easier to do AND you are for ever free of hard brcks.

The Linux/Ubuntu part isn't hard. Go to Ubuntu site, downloads, option 3 which is the wubi installer. If you get the windows no disc error, just keep clicking continue until the installer starts.
Thanks all.. I knew from the start of the thread that I had it hard bricked coz I have flashed all of the roms out there and soft bricked many times and fixed, so I have some experience in this.
The part I don't understand is that after I tried to flash to stock it died after that.. quite odd.. I think I'll go for unbrickable after all.. but in Georgia, where I live it's gonna be a pain to find someone able to do this neatly..
Thanks for all your support..
You can send it to adam (one of the people that worked on that) or Connexion (mobiletechvideos.com) Cost you some though.
It may just be a black screen brick, not a hard brick. Pull the battery, wait 2 minutes, replace battery. Use a jig, let it stay plugged in about 30 seconds. Hook up to Odin and see if it lights a com box. If it does, you can flash stock. If it doesn't, time to send it off. Last I heard, jtag was only about $50. Shipping I don't know about.
Of course I had tried pulling the battery and all the stuff that can be done to maintain the phone.. shipping is +20$ for international and add it the cost of shipping from here to USA.. helluva sum.. it goes like 100$.. so I left off my phone in the local "Samsung" service center. I doubt they can even handle it but at least I won't have to pay if they can't.. if they can though it'll cost around 40$ as they said. So wish me luck I guess..
UPDATE!
Hey all.. I just got my captivate from the samsung service center and it's working quite well thanks for your effort

[Q] Deadly injured Note

Hello, guys.. I'm having a real trouble with my Note. I bought it 3 months ago, but it seems that today's my "lucky" day and the microUSB connector isn't working anymore. At all. No charging, no "usb connected", no mass storage. It's not charging even when I turn off the phone and plug the charger.
So.. I guess I have to ask for a repair or a replacement. But here's the problem. I've changed both the kernel and the ROM and I have to restore the phone to it's original state before taking it to the service. I read the UNroot topic under the development section, but I didn't understand it well. I need to do it through the phone since I can't connect the device to my computer because of the malfunctioning microUSB port. I can't charge the battery either, so I'm stuck with only 36% power and I can't simply shoot in the dark. I turned the phone to save the power and I hope it should be enough to finish the operation, but I don't really know how to start it. I guess I have to download stock kernal and stock ROM and then flash it somehow (Mobile Odin!?), but I'm not sure and I really need your help.
Any help would be highly appreciated, I'll continue looking around for info.

It looks clean. The cable is okay too. I'm working at Gameloft so we have lot's of micro-usb devices and they're working just fine with the exact same PC and cable.
Anyway, to be 100% sure - how to clean the port? I mean - it's so tiny little hole and there isn't any direct access to it.. But I think it's gone.. It randomly shows "charging" while the cable is not plugged at all. Then it stops.. and starts again.

Put stock rom on your external sd,install mobile odin pro from market and use it to flash the stock rom.And remember donot select ever root, inject su,inject mobile odin. And after it finish flashing, you can send it for service
Put a stock rom and then try cleaning the USB as someone suggested. My usb port would stop working at random and I cleaned the port with a toothbrush and it has worked ever since. That was 2-3 months ago.
Well, thanks guys.. I'll try the tooth-brush trick when I get home and if it fails to solve the problem, I'm gonna flash the stock ROM with MOP and take it to the service. I'll keep you posted.

Not a difference you "see" technically. From my understanding mobile Odin cannot touch bootloaders. Pc Odin can. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. From Chainfires first.post in his Mobile Odin thread, "While in theory Mobile ODIN can repartition and flash EFS and bootloaders, it will cowardly refuse to do so, for your own safety."

Assumign that you have a micro SD in the slot-
Take the micro SD out and connect it to your computer. Or use airdroid for file transfer over wifi. Whichever way you use, create a folder called firmware and put the .md5 in the folder and flash it through CWM or mobile odin.

[Q] i9000 Bricked completely, Flashed captivate rom

Ok, Ive looked around and to my despair ive tried everything and have not been able to do anything. What happened was I flashed a CM9 nightly onto my Galaxy S i9000 and was stuck at the S during booting. I couldnt get into recovery but I could do download mode.
I was looking around and stupid me found a one click ODIN that was for the CAPTIVATE only, which I should have read that first....
So then what happened was it turned on and got stuck at an AT&T screen during boot, couldnt get into download no matter what I tried. Then I just left it at that screen because I was pissed off with myself.
Not long after I left it, I came back for another crack at fixing it, but the phone was off, was cold, and couldnt turn it on. I cant charge it, I cant do any sequence of events to get it to even feel remotely responsive. and now I may as well just buy the Galaxy II.
I do want to save my little friend of a phone though that I have had for 2 years, I might buy a jig if I can find one for like 1 AUD on ebay or something, but am unsure that it will work.
So please im begging someone, is there any way I can revive my little buddy. I am begging for a response that works :'(
U got soldering skills ? Search adamoutler for the unbrickable mod.
To get ur battery up and running ask some Samsung center nearby to help charge the battery for u . Or ask a buddy with a working sgs to charge it for u .
If ur hopelessly lost Samsung will fix it for a cost .
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
dont give up just yet!!
leave it plugged into a usb port for at least 1 hour see if anything comes up on the screen.
try that and then report back! you may find it gives a logo of (connect pc to phone) if it does that let me know and i will give you a guide with links to install from fresh with odin

Mini froze, now it wont respond...

Hello, my situation is this: S3 Mini running Carbon Rom 4.4.4 , flashed with TWRP. After running great for a few weeks, suddenly after charging all night the phone froze ( was on FB on CM Browser). It was totally unresponsive to any attempts so I pulled the battery ( this did happen a couple times before) and when I tried to restart, nothing. The phone responds to nothing, no download, no recovery, no charger.... battery is charged and I did try a different battery to no avail. The only response I get is if it is connected to a PC before I install the battery then when I install it (the battery) the PC tries to install u8500 usb rom drivers, which of course it never finds. Samsung device drivers are installed on the PC. Odin also fails to see it.
Is it dead? Is it salvageable? Can I recover any data off it?
Sorry for the new thread but it seemed I could not find a case exactly like mine.

There's no warranty on my device so taking it back is not an option. The phone was working fine for while so I suppose it's not the bootloader... what suprised me is that it happened outta the blue, not during start up... thanks for the advice though mate.

Honestly, I didnt think the jig would work, which is why Im not in much haste to do it, before you dump it though mate, try and find someone close to you with a JTAG setup.... I havent had much luck with that.
It was an ok phone... either I had high expectations or it was below the hype but that is just my 2 cents... at the end of the day it was a useful tool....
