Custom Boot Animations - LG Revolution

Has anyone figured out how to change the boot animations yet and add a custom animation? I haven't had much chance to look too far into it yet, but I see that it is different than what I am used to.

No recovery yet so no one is willing to screw around with boot

I am working on it right now. Was able to convert to .rle in photoshop. I am having an issue with extracting the boot.img to edit the files within the ramdisk (if that is where they are stored), because simply editing the files in system/media does not work.

Did you compress the zip? You have to create it as "store" files and not compress.
It should remain a zip file

Someone has been doing the work to port the animation to multiple devices. I haven't tried it to see if it works, but here's the link. He's taken out the Star Wars and Droid logo part.

Cognition 3 Boot Sound Question

Searched through almost every thread relating to this post and found absolutely nothing. I just flashed Cog 3.0.2 and it works like a dream. The only issue is I am trying to now change the boot sound to a file of my choosing. Default has no sound file. I have looked in these place so far with no luck:
system/media
system/etc
There is no poweron.wav file anywhere and adding one i created myself did nothing.
Any sure fire ways to do this? Id really appreciate some help

sgs tools here has an easy way to set the boot or shutdown sound
Boot and shutdown sounds as well as qmg animations have been disabled in custom ROMs AFAIK. If you really need it bad, the official factory ROM will work.
I appreciate you being the only persn to respond but that is actually false. I dont have, any qmg files to mess w. I have already made a working boot ani and its zip. Not qrm. Plus alot of roms use .wav files for boot sounds....

You should have no problems inserting a poweron.wav into system/etc and have it execute upon boot up. I have created my own start up and shutdown both with and without voice and they work fine. Just make sure it is in the correct format.
Oh heck, I must have tried the wrong places. Cool! Was thinking it's /system/media/audio/ui or /system/media/audio

Need help with boot animation

I spent like 3 hours creating a boot animation for my xoom and can't get the thing to work. I sent the stock one to my comp and altered only the images and nothing more. I left the notepad info in there and zipped to a file and put back in the directory on my xoom that it started in. Using the same permissions as the stock animation and giving it the exact same name and moving the stock one out of there rebooted and now it goes from the stock dual core screen, to home page. No boot animation at all.
The only difference between the one that I made and the stock one is the file size. Mine is just over 9mb and stock is just over 2mb. Will this make the difference?
any help is appreciated.
Original post at xoom forums here (since I haven't posted 8 times it won't let me post the actual link so add the necessary prefix if you will

Where are you pushing it to. ? And and dimesions on desc.txt file should match the img's dimensions

Putting it into system/media which is where stock boot animation is and I used the notepad info from original boot animation and kept pics the same height and width, they are just larger files...

[Q] Sprint Galaxy Tab boot animation?

I've done a few searchs to try and figure this out on my own, but I've been coming up short. I'm just trying to get a custom boot animation on my Sprint Tab. I'm comfortable removing the stock animation and audio. I can't, however, find anyway to add my own. I've tried renaming the custom animation to bootani.qmg with the stock one deleted out. When I boot up, though, it shows nothing still and boots up with no animation. Not asking for someone to reply with a written out guide, but a point in the right direction would be awesome.
Thanks!
Get your new bootanim (usually called bootanimation.zip butbif bit not, then rename it to that) then move it to system/media. Reboot and you should have been new boot anim

That's the issue. Thought that's all I needed to do, but after trying that exact method repeatedly with different animations and bootanimation.zip files, it does not work for me.
I've tried renaming the file bootani.qmg, bootanimation.qmg, bootani.zip, and bootanimation.zip.
The .qmg is the sound file so you don't need that. What video format is your animation? It isn't just the name that has to be correct, its the format and file size too.
I would suggest using the DukeNukem boot file, since we know it works, to verify the process, then go make a custom file. And be sure to post back with your results!
That would make more sense. I just sorta assumed maybe it was searching for a file name and not finding it. Will try once more with the suggested boot animation and let ya know!
DukeNukem was also a no go. :/
I don't have a sprint tab, but the system folders and files sound the same as my at&t tab. What I did was create a folder and moved the boot animation.zip, and the .qmg files in there, then moved the duke animation into the system/media folder.

[XT860] - Replaced Bootanimation.zip with Droid RAZR

Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to let everybody know that replacing the bootanimation.zip file with the DROID RAZR in the /system/media folder works with the XT860. I know it's a minor thing, but I thought it was cool.
For updatability (and because we don't have an SBF for the XT860) I recommend to rename the original bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.orig and then copy a new bootanimation.zip in there.
if you dump the new animation to data/local it will boot up and you can leave system/media alone. either way. at least you renamed it instead of deleting. just an fyi
It would be even better if you can upload it for us
Even though I backed my original boot ani I somehow still lost it. Would someone be so kind as to upload it so I can have it just in case. Thanks
Sent from my rooted xt860
perhaps a good idea will be to upload here both animations...
As requested...
both animations!
The file should only be named bootanimation.zip and has the permissions of 644 (but it doesn't matter really) and the owner/group is 0/0 (root/root).
I know how to change permissions but what's the command for.changing owners
Sent from my rooted xt860
Change owner is chown, or it's the 2nd last option in root explorer's long click.
Sent from my XT860 using XDA App
So chown 00 or chown 11 etc

works perfectly. is it too much to ask to add here the Official Nexus Prime boot animation...in the same file format..in order to collect all working options?

I can't find a Galaxy Nexus system dump, they seem to all be removed. If you have one PM me with a link and I'll see what I can do.
do these have the boot sound as well?
I have the Galaxy Nexus boot animation, and I'll post it a little later today. If anyone is losing original boot animations, use Root Explorer, go into System Media, and rename the existing boot animation to something like "d3bootanimation.zip" (that's exactly what I did). If you're simply renaming old animations as "bootanimation.bak" or something similar, you'll end up overwriting a few from time to time, depending on how many boot animations you have on your SD. Just use a more specific label for backups, and you should be fine.

Just downloaded the razr bootanimation and put it in data/local. I shut my phone off and started and didn't get it to work
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Put it in the system/media folder. Be sure to rename the boot animation that's already there.

Here's the boot animation for Galaxy Nexus. Rename this file to bootanimation.zip and place it in /data/local OR /system/media (if placing the file into /system/media, rename the original bootanimation.zip file to something different so you can restore if required).
for the ones who want smth different, here is a link to a blue bootanimation.

That link no longer works. I found the the blue animation deeper in that thread, and have attached it to this post. The blue animation is working fine on my XT862 / XT883.
