As long as your card is partitioned right, which it looks like it is everything is going to be automatic. You can tell by looking at the size of your internal memory. If it doesn't go down then it's working. I'm not really understanding what you are asking about the folders tho. Are you talking about any folder like music, videos, pics and etc.?

Installing Cyanogen

Ive tried installing Cyanogen about 10 times on my G1 and it always ends up the same no matter what guide i use. Ive tried so many different "stable" versions of Cyanogen i dont even know where to begin. I downgrade to RC29 fine, Install the radio update, and gain root access. Then i boot into the Home+Power menu and install Cyanogen through the Alt+S install prompt. Then the phone reboots and either hangs at the G1 screen or loads to the Cyanogen (Blue text) Android screen and hangs there and the screen eventually goes black.
Another time i installed a more recent version of Cyanogen, After about 5 minutes of sitting at the android screen it would load, but all the applications would instantly crash and i would have no choice but to turn the phone off. Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong. Ive been searching every android forum for the past 4 days and cant seem to find a solution to solve this problem.
I don't know if this will work since you don't have a Cyanogen ROM to begin with, but you might try the Cyanogen updater app in the market. It is unbelievably easy and does everything for you from downloading the rom to rebooting into recovery and automatically flashing it.
Did you partition you sd? I am pretty sure any cyan mod requires a fat32 and ext2 oartition for the auto apps2sd.

Nah, it works fine without an ext2 partition, once you create one it will copy your apps over and set it up on boot. It does seem to have issues when the partitioning isn't right though. I've found doing partitioning in recovery console most reliable.
I have the same problem and to me it DOes have issue when the partitioning isnt right cuz I failed the partition... in console it just didnt work, and now everytime I try to reinstall the rom it turn black after the blue android logo...and from there Im stuck, I just dont know what to do to make it work...
have you tried checking the md5sum to see if you got a bad download. i got one once and nothing would work
MD5 sum matches up fine. Is there anything else i should be adding to this procedure?

I do this guide word for word and end up with that black screen i was describing before every time.
Install CyanogenMOD 4.0.1 (Stable), Right after that section of the guide when i reboot my phone, i get the black screen after the android logo sits for about 5-10 minutes and i cant continue with the guide any further although im assuming the other guides after this are optional.
have you tried the latest 4.0.4 rom?
Yessir i have. Ive tried 4.0.2 and older versions as well. No luck just different problems.
Can we install another rom other than cyanogen on the cyanogen recovery? cuz if so ill try to install a rom that dont have app2sd just to see...
Ive find my problem now my cyanogen work...it was my sd card that is not well partitioned even tough I reformated it to fat32 it just wont work..so after installin the cyanogen rom i just removed the sd card and it worked fine...so I guess ill go buy a already partitioned sdcard cuz im havin problem with theses...
I can't believe that no one has said this to the op but did you wipe before flashing
yea wiped... but now how to I proceed? I need an sd card...
If I partition my sd card outside of the cellphone and put it in, will cynogen rom will recognize that app2sd is possible or I will need to reinstall the rom?
I was suggesting wiping to the op mesh, forken, yes you can partion the card outside the phone as long as you have a fat32 partion on there since it is the only file type that the phone will recongize as a non operating storage place for your roms and other files
partitioning is so simple, just use console and follow the guides. Make sure you know what size your card is and you will be fine. You can't buy a partitioned sd card so your gonna have to figure it out.
once in recovery goto console
hit enter after each line
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
print (this will give you your sd size in mb)
mkpartfs primary fat32 0 xxxx (xxxx is the size you get in print MINUS 512)
mkpartfs primary ext2 xxxx xxxx (first xxxx is the size of your sd MINUS 512, like we just did. 2ND xxxx is the full size of your sd)
then goto recovery and click fix/repair ext filesystems.
well yes you can buy a pre partion, theres a android website where you can buy pre partition sd card anyway you like it...
the problem is that my sd card is bugged now I think I need to fix it before trying to partition it again...cuz it wrongly partitioned..
Really you can buy pre partion cards, I think I just found my next scheme to make money since I can use the partion editor in ubuntu in 3 minutes so there is 60 minutes in an hour, so that's 20 cards an hour and I am lazy so 5 cards a day. How much is the mark up on these pre partion cards, I can out do them by 50 cents, make a link to my website for them in my sig and prob make a little profit, yay, go ignorance and laziness
ahah ill post it...
Do you know if I can fix a wrongly partitioned sd card... with just trying to partition it correctly? or I need to fix it first?
Sure, wipe it completely clean, it's called reformating. Make new partions, whichever way you are using for partion does not seem to be working for you so I would suggest trying to find another way, try googling gparted like I told you before to do and give that a try
just format the card to FAT32. You don't need an ext partition to run cyanogen, you just need it if you want apps2sd. And do a low level (not quick) format.
ive tried to reformat to fat32 and it does the same thing...

Need help with mimo sd hack *UPDATE! FIXED!

**UPDATE BELOW** I Fixed It!!!
Hey is anyone able to help me?
on my phone i flashed straight from the stock firmware to JM 2 which worked fine, allthough i still get really bad lag when coming out of standby and when going back to the menu.
Iv been trying to get this sd card fix to work now for two days, firstly i was formatting the sd card through the phone using gparted, which doesn't work properly.
Now i have bought a sd card reader!
But its still not working.
i have tried several times doing this:
Partition sdcard first fat32 then 990 mb ext3/4 (tried both now)
Re flash JM2 512 PIT (clean slate)
Flash ext3/4 (with or without adding the 512 pit again, no re-partition)
>>>At this point the phone reboots up fine, however when looking in my folders i see no /disk/ or anything resembling the ext3/4 partition i made, it only sees the fat32 partiton
I carried on with the guide regardless.
flash update.zip (root)
download and install busybox
run the commands listed, i get no errors
>>> If i dont reboot at this point most apps dont work and fclose, if i do reboot the phones screen goes black during the samsung logo animation, it stays powered though, i can still light up the touch buttons
I really want this to work, sure the screen and hardware on this phone are great but it is worthless to me if its not useable!
******UPDATE*******
Just as i was writing this in frustration i have got it to work!
Format sd Fat32/ext3 (800mb)
Flash JM2 Pit 512
Flash ext3 (not 4!)
Root
Do not install the new version of busybox, use the one that comes with the root update.zip (not sure if this made a difference)
use busybox commands as per guide, and market fix
reboot
Increased my quadrant score from 800 ish to 1400, phone feels quick now. I could have gotten more performance with ext4 but it doesn't seem to work
Please post this question in the main thread for this tweak. I doubt you will get much response here.

[Q] the file haret cannot be opened.

please helpwhen i run haret.exe the following message appears" the file haret cannot be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
Use another Haret from other ROM.
I have the same problem for my Rhod100. Even installing the .cab file doesn't work. This problem is since this morning. I copied the file for many time and from different people but nothing is working.

Yeah I can confirm that your have a bad SD card. I had this kind of SD card before too and it was much more cheaper than original. All the files that you had copied to SD card will be corrupted, that's mean you cannot open it or play it. Then you also cannot make partitions on your SD card as well, am I right?
The only way to solve this problem is BUY A NEW SD CARD
Well i don't think that is the problem because it worked untill 21th of september. But maybe i will format the micro sd card (after i copied all of the files to my hard disk). Maybe that will work, I will try it.
Edit: I just tried to format the Micro SDHC card (It is an Micro SDHC) but it didn't made a difference, I still get the same error. I could gamble to buy a new micro sdhc card but what if that wouldn't make a difference too?
If you dare to try your luck for gambling, then why don't you try your luck to buy a new SD card?
minitool does not show all the partitons
i think jerrytan93 is right as whenever i try to make partition from mini tool then after making the partition the minitool does not show all the partitons, it shows only the fat 32 partition (with full memory).
but when i formatted the card again on my pc using windows then i was able to upload files on my sd card and also excess them with my mobile, that means my sd card is not bad.
but again i can't make partitions so what is the matter, i don't understand
I saw someone (forgot his name) in this forum said that there was some brand's SD card which are unable to make partition. So looks like you are the unlucky one
I've experience the same problem before.
Maybe the problem is ;
1. If you use Winmo Roms that have an OverClock setting like Dynamic rom, jus turn the OC setting off.
2. Maybe you have a bad SD card, try reformating it.
are u have overclocking on ur x1?
With GTX Dynamics ROM, i see Overclocking at Settings/System.
But 826x hasn't it. Where do i can find it?
Try other..
Energy ROM, at first try, it can run haret.exe <-- from Sensedroid..
Running perfectly..

The Dynamic roms has the OC setting. U can turn it on or off.
I really don't know the Mhz after OC and before OC.
well, It might be the overclocking problem as others mentioned as I've had the same problem cuz Haret doesn't work with Overclocked roms ... also, I'm kind of new, so I'm not sure about the next tip but it worked for me ...
I went into the startup file next to the Haret and I changed the value from to 614 instead of the higher num cuz some of the Android roms are highly overclocked .... so, by lowering it, it might work ... it took me like 2 hours to find this solution but I'm not sure if it will work

Please ask questions at the question section next time.
NAND ROMs are Android ROMs that replace the Windows Mobile OS. They provide faster speeds and better battery life. The developers really did a great job on them this year. They do, however, contain some bugs like USB mass storage not functioning properly (there's a workaround). The most annoying issue I've experienced is the button and keyboard freeze. But the latest Cyanogenmod build I think has already fixed the problem. But I still have Button Savior just in case.
EXT3 ROMs are the ones that run from the SD card. So you would still be able to run Windows Mobile on your phone. It's kind of a dual boot. You have to make partitions on your SD card. It used to have the least bugs. But it's no longer being developed. So now, the NAND ROMs are actually better for my opinion. I think BrianXP7 is the only one left developing EXT3 ROMs, or at least converting his NAND ROM to an EXT3 ROM. EXT3 ROMs used to be faster than NAND ROMs, but it's only because of the CPU speed. NAND ROMs have more free RAM. The CPU speed of NAND ROMs are also now the same as the EXT3 ROMs. You can also make a swap partition to make your phone a little faster on NAND.

A swap file is also known as a page file or virtual memory. So it's more like the page file on your hard drive. It's not ReadyBoost for Android.
There's also an SD boot bug on this device. So you'll have to format the SD in a special way in order to fix it. But after making the partitions, the fix may be lost. So before partitioning your SD card, apply the fix to your SD card. Then make the partitions. But instead of wiping the SD card, choose the "delete all partitions" option. You then apply all the necessary partitions.
So have you successfully managed to install an android ext3 rom? Because no matter which rom I choose or what I try, it always hangs during the loading with the black screen and all those white lines. It just stays that way forever and then I have to pull the battery and restart my phone. Do you know what I may be doing wrong?

Yes! It you was Brian that told me to do that when I was trying to install your Butter rom. But although, I got further with your rom, compared to other android roms, it wasn't successful because it hanged up. Is it maybe the fault of custom roms or maybe mods in the Windows rom? Because whenever I left overclocked my X1 at boot the haret application never ran. It always failed to start! So what I did was to removed the overclocked values of my X1 but still I can't get Android to boot! I need help!
Hey Brian. I tried to run again android on my device and it still doesn't work. What happened this time is this: I placed all files in the right place and clicked haret. The loader starts, CWM opens and I select install zip package. Then the bar that appears is fully loaded and tells me installation is complete. I then proceed with rebooting go back to custom rom with WM6.1 and start again CWM. But this time, even after waiting for more than 15 minutes it never manages to load into android, it hangs with many white lines on a black screen, although if I press some buttons then some words start appearing but nothing happens. Do I miss something?
