app to control gtab from android phone? - G Tablet Themes and Apps

Does anyone know of any apps that give you the ability to control whats happening on your gtab from your android phone? kinda like a remote desktop but to remote into or control the gtab?
Thanks.
Edit: So far best solution i've found is this app https://market.android.com/details?id=net.xdevelop.rm&feature=related_apps which will let me control the gtab from the computer in the house and ill just remote into the computer from the droid, hopefully theres an easier solution lol.

darn that idea didnt work the way i was hoping anyone got any other ideas?

Try droid vnc on gtab, and android vnc on phone. I use both, but separately. You'll prolly have to be on the same wifi network. I can't get droid vnc to work over cellular.

android vnc. beautiful.

the best app on the market. use your pc from your phone.
using it right now to post this. love it.
using ultravnc with windows 7 x64. great app.
While there are better remote desktop protocols, vnc is still good.
It's free too. Which is saying something in comparison to the iphone which charges 25$ for the app.
I am willing to pay for it, but not that much.
Awesome, I just got it to work with Tightvnc.
I got androidVNC working with an Asus EEE 900 using KDE desktop sharing. It seems to work really well. And I also used wifi tether and it works as well. I also tried enabling the built-in webcam but the video feed is way slow.
Awesome App
androivnc is an awesome app. I use it with my Windows Home Server and so i can look on my homeserver from everywhere.

Are you running Xandros on your EEE or another distro? I would like to get this set up but I'm running Easy Peasy, will KDE desktop sharing work still?
Edit: Nvm

Froggy, I am using default xandros in easymode. You dont have to install vnc or anything. The KDE remote desktop sharing comes preinstalled in xandros. You just have to open up a terminal and type in
Code:
/home/user>kfrb
to start up the desktop sharing. and if you have androidVNC installed on the g1 you can connect to the eee very easily. my network is setup as wifi tether and i have also tried having both the eee and the g1 on a wireless access point on my network. I havent tried connecting over the internet but i pretty sure it will work.
UltraVNC
I am currently using UltraVNC (WINVNC).
This is pretty slow. Sweet. But slow. I was wondering if anyone has tried multiple servers to benchmark speed.
Or i'm at least trying to identify if one is faster than the other.
Thanks all.
Does it work with RealVNC?
Thanks

[Q] - Any Apps out there for this?

My buddy wants to get into android, but he was curious if there was an app where he could control his computer remotely. Like tell it to download something?
That seems extreme and not feasible to me. Any apps out there close to this though?
I need to pull up gmote and see its capabilities.

I think that you might be able to control your computer with VNC but I haven't tried.
In regards to downloading... sure. There are a lot of torrent apps that will connect to your bittorrent clients (such as utorrent or whatever). You just need to make sure everything is set up properly.
Yeah, he has utorrent on his computer currently. So can he see his desktop on his droid and open up programs on his computer?
If so, that seems unreal to me. I looked and saw on gmotes site they had a beta that sounded like this.
Can anyone confirm? Thank you guys.

If he's using a Windows Desktop, there is a RDP client on the App Market, just search for RDP. He will need to have his router setup to forward the proper ports (3389 TCP) to his computer for it to work, but I've used it to download things in a pinch, and copy it up to a webserver to download on my G1....
he's not gonna be doing anything ridiculous on it, remember there is a HUGE resolution difference b/t G1/DROID/Mobiles in general vs Computer Resolutions...
Okay, sounds very intriguing.
Let me word it differently though:
From his Droid, would he be able to see his desktop and scroll to uTorrent and tell it to download something, to his computer, not the droid.
You guys are awesome. I am floored that our G1 can do what you guys have told me. I obviously need to move beyond flashing roms and themes and learn what the guts can do.

Really what it sounds like you're asking, is he can remotely connect to his desktop, use it to search for and download the torrent file, and open it in the torrent client...? Complete remote control of his computer from off-site...? I don't know about you guys, but I have to search for and find a torrent file from a tracking site (demonoid, thepiratebay, etc.) and d/l that, then open it in my torrent client (utorrent).
I don't think this is capable yet... but I'm interested to hear more about this from those that know.
Remote Desktop Client works just like RDP and will allow you to log into your computer at home from your android phone using your windows login. Once logged in you have your trackball to move the mouse and can do anything you could do sitting in front of your computer. Its a $15 app which is really high for android OS but its been more than worth $15 all the times its saved my butt.
I also use it to monitor my utorrent download remotely.

If he has uTorrent then he can just set up the webui and forward his utorrent port on his/her router to the ip address of the computer. then download Transdroid (what I use because it has a decent widget) and set that up. TIP: use no-ip (or whatever) to set up a static ip address and change the name (like [email protected]) so you can just input that in the Default Server settings in the Transdroid preferences. It also uses isoHunt, Mininova, BT Junkie and even allows you to enter your own to search for new torrents. When you find one to download simply select it and it sends it to the computer. From there the uTorrent client will open the torrent that was sent and starts the download process. You can easily track the status of the active torrents on the client with it as well.
There are some out there that will even let you scan a barcode of a movie (useful if your in the video store) and it'll lookup the movie and send the torrent to your pc and it'll start downloading. If you have a decent enough internet connection you can go to the video store, scan a movie in the New Releases section, leave empty handed, get some Jack In The Box and by the time you get home the movie can already be on your computer ready to be viewed/burned. And it's not just for movies. It's for any other type of torrent.

Can We Devolop A Tv Out Like app?

Can we develop a tv out ike application? I'd really like to be able to mount my g1 to my notebook and be able to control my g1 in a live screen like experience which would include Reading and replying to text messages, accessing applications such as Movies by Flixster and DOOM/Gba/SNES emu's
Basically is there a way to display and control my g1 from my p.c. via usb? I know it would result in downloading something to my notebook and I think there are utilities around here on XDA but I don't know how to get them working.
I think I saw something in the dev section in the last week, I tried to poke around and find it, but couldn't so you will have to page through it.
DroidExplorer.
Must have app for anyone who uses the ADB interface.
ScreenCast, magnificent application.
http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
I have an Asus 1000HA and I don't really know how to set up ADB or work with all that stuff but I'd love to learn, especially if it can help me accomplish what my OP wants.
I've ran into screencasts before and I can't manage to get it work so any help is appreciated :]
I gave Droidexplorer a try and it all worked out for me with that one, and I have screencast working through Droid as a plug in and it's all very neat Hopefully I figure out how to use the desktop sms plug in sometime soon.

Wyse PocketCloud App

This app will let you control your computer through via both 3g and wifi. The companion WONT work for win 7 home which is what i have. So i have a question: Anyone know a way to make it work for win 7 home or another app that will work the same way?

Which is $30, whereas this looks like it's free. I'm in the process of installing the free app on the market, and the free desktop companion as well.
OP, have you tried it? Most features that work on one work on the other, so might want to give it a go at least.
1. androidVNC on captivate
2. tightvnc on all home computers
3. all computers wake on lan
4. add a dash of dropbox and some dd-wrt lock down on the side
5. enjoy complete remote access and admin
Bonus: I like that VNC has dual monitor support. Both screens show on your device with "pinch and zoom" and touch scrolling capability.
What about going the other direction?
I'd like to control the Captivate from my Windows 7 PC x64 running a VNC viewer.
What apps are the best for that?
I can't get droidVNC to work. It always rejects the correct password.
I agree with agentdr8. LogMeIn is easily the best way to go. I'd love if TeamViewer made an android app though. It seem unfair that iOS gets all the loving.

I know it has. I switched over on release day and never looked back. Very polished for a beta app.
Sent from my Captivate
PocketCloud does not seem to function after only two successful logins (very cool when it worked). I don't know if it is a limited demo thing or it broke (can't find any mention of limitations . . . ).
I love TeamViewer (used it to help family with computer problems before) but I can't get it to run on my Dell Streak running Froyo (always comes up ForceClose).
Will have to try VNC and see how that works for me.

VNC & FB

I use realvnc for my pc. Good pwd encryption. Good monitor driver. I love it. I"m a network admin so I'm also security conscious. I'm willing to replace realvnc for another good vnc software that is compatible with a droid as long as its secure. AndroidVNC claims to work with Real but I don't think they are negotiatng encryption properly. Has anyone come up with a VNC solution?
Also, is there a better FB app for android? I hate that theres no chat and after digging down one level on things it tends to open stuff in the browser.
I've had great luck with UltraVNC. It seems to work really well with Android, and it also works well with Windows and Mac. It's given me no problems, and is pretty fast even over 3G.
will it support encryption?
ultravnc on pc and androidvnc on the phone?
