Obligatory introduction thread! - Off-topic

Love the website, love android. Wish i could post in the dev forum in replies so I can contribute

Me too. I wonder if they can make it so you need only 5 posts to be able to post on the dev discussion. 10 is a bit of a lot and it forces you to post things just for the sake of posting them.

they don't want people starting threads in development. unfortunately it causes you to not be able to reply in a thread. 10 comes quickly. answer some questions, contribute to the community, and you will have many posts

Here for the post count.

Hi Everybody

I guess I have to post 10 random threads somewhere on this forum before I can leave the comment and ask the questions I wanted to ask on the Android Developers forum.
So Hi!
Don't start a thread in development, it's not there for that! Start the thread in q&a if you can't search the answer. If your particular device doesn't have a q&a section then post in general.
If you are replying in an existing thread in development then more power to you I wish you a swell journey on your 10 post trail
And you could post 10 normal posts instead of just posting sh*t.
Having the ability to post is GREAT, but use it wisely. A lot of devs are asked numerous repeat questions. I find that reading all of the post FIRST is best. Your question has probably been answered more than once. Reading is FUNdemental.
Not trying to be critical and good luck on the 10.
I bet that this thread will be closed by morning.

thants cool hunk
Same reason why i'm here, need to get 10

Beeing able to post

I don't understand why we need to post 10 times to change our state to a "normal" user... so, I post my first time, i see this for months but really now i wanna participate when i'm feeling comfortable.

You only need 10 posts to post in the development sections. You can post in all the other sections.
This is to stop people creating threads in the development forums before they have familiarised themselves with the site a bit more. This means that the development forums are not cluttered with rubbish that mods have to move, and that we members can find our way round a lot easier.
Feel free to participate in the general and Q&A forums to build up both your knowledge and post count. Then, if you have anything to contribute (in the way of development) you can post in the correct place.
Blarg *being*!!!
Please change it so it doesn't bug me until this thread dies

For more of an explanation of the 10 post rule, please see the link in my sig. Thread closed so people do not feed off of it to bump their post count.

[Q] New member 10 posts?

How do I get rid of this 10 posts rule? I need to ask questions in the development forum. I develop and test roms for the last year, not sure why I need 10 posts in general forums in order to post there.
it is forum rules
dont want fresher‘s rubbish posts here
That's the rule, and we're bound to follow. ^.~

There are no questions to ask in dev section. Its dev only. Not end user.
Then again i9000 dev section is full of end users spamming the board and not reading anything.

The very fact that you are making this post and posts here , means you are NOT restricted to make any useful posts on any forum but the development forum.
why?
Because its suppose to be spam free and Q&A threads are kept out of that forum to ensure ONLY development matters are discussed by Developers and members who have understood the rules and guidelines on how to use XDA site. New members need to understand this and respect them.
what do they need to understand?
This site was created by Developers for Developers
watch
what this videos conveys repeatedly are that there are dedicated forums and you need to LEARN to use the search engine
1) Use the search , instead of asking a question, as it is and has been asked by someone else and already answered so do not spam
2) Read, research and learn by looking in the right direction, so do not spam.
3) When reading the threads, you may come across, some interesting things and there you can make your own suggestions and or your findings, so do not spam
4) Specific Q&A threads are available for most phones, where you can ask questions, seek advice from others using similar phone like yours, so do not spam.
5) How do you find these threads? use the search, a few available on each forum for specific searches, so do not Spam.
6) There are even OT threads ( off topic) meant for members to have some fun, but not meant for beginners as you should at least have made 10 posts that had increased your knowledge or increased others by giving advice.
This community wants you to learn and walk the walk that all member's had to go through, just like citizens of a country have to undergo certain criteria to be a citizen of that country.
So, there you have it, its not about you learning to spam or posting out of disgust to reach to get over 10 posts but about you learning and achieving the status of an XDA member as well as learning how to find what you want with the search engine.
Again, if you learnt to spam, you may be penalized so avoid it at all cost making ten useful posts will only take a short time for anyone wishing to learn as well as teach or correct others. Try involving in a discussion thread, it will be over within hours
Finally you don't need to ask a question in the developers forum, there are Device specific forums, which you should and can use. Click the WIKI button on top of any forum and you can locate your Device WIKI page or your can use the general forum for such questions, either you will get an answer by a Member or the Moderator will move your post to the Device specific forum. So you must subscribe to your post, such that you will know where it has been moved to.
let me give you an idea
general forums A, or B
Q & A Forums A, or B,
Now if you look at Q&A, forums there are sticky threads in that forum for practically any question or phone by noobs where members are asking you to post , so that they can help you.
Mind you, above are only for people who cannot locate their phone model via the search . So when there is a specific forum for your device, there is also a Q&A thread in that forum for that device.
So you see clearly @Aeneas is spamming this thread, and someone will report him , and his count will be ZERO posts because of spamming instead of learning.
Just for the record, I have made over 2000 posts and I can tell you ONLY less than FIVE of them in Development Forums as a member in all this duration.
Hope this helps you understand
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

I apologise in advance for creating this thread.

I am only posting this because the XDA "10 post" policy is preventing me as a new user to post in relevant forums regarding my new i9305 and reporting bugs to the dev behind the Pandoriam rom. I have been forced to lurk for a long time now, but I need to start posting to assist the community. I don't have a general query as I know what I'm doing in terms of modding this handset.
Mods feel free to delete this posts...
Again, sorry. The 10+ post policy has forced this...

Reported.
So you couldn't PM him instead...
Yes, I could. But the point of the post is to save people's time, so they don't report it multiple times
Missing my point, I didn't mean you I meant the OP contacting the author of the rom he used...
Fair enough

10 Posts needed for android development reply's

Hello,
Why do users need to post 10 posts on the forum before they can join the android development discussions? I've bin a user for quite some time now but i don't post a lot because when i say something it's something that is nowhere else to be found... So i found it quite annoying i needed to write 10 bull**** posts to join a discussion that is usefull.
Greets,
Daniël
Normally, new users look for non ROM-specific solutions.
Some tend to post in wrong subforums, so they're limited to General.

With such an eloquent and beneficial post such as this (where you cannot even follow the forum rules about swearing), I can see we have really been missing your wisdom in development forums.
I am closing this thread lest your incredible nuggets of profundity explode the minds of us mere mortals.
