Facebook Game of the phone sort - Off-topic

Hello
as you might be able to tell im new around here as far as actually posting goes.
a few months back i had a idea for a web based game where you could take control of your own cell phone service provider(ATT,Verizon) or manufacturer(HTC,Samsung) much like games like AirwaySim and Airline Empires have done for airline simulation games.
So i put together a rather crude version of it as far as the user interface goes but i think the basic function of how the game will work is in place.
So i am looking for some people who would be interested in testing this game and giving some feedback about any bugs, features and overall what they think of the execution the game.
if you would like to help out with testing the game and let me know id be more then happy to share a link to get you all setup to begin testing the game with other players once we have enough of them.
if you have any questions go ahead and ask away id be more then happy to answer them.

Mabey posting this in the android development and hacking/apps and games section would have been a better spot

Just though everyone whos been waiting on an emulator should see this

http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/21/video-gp2x-emulation-goes-down-on-t-mobile-g1/#continued
From what they said it's in pre-alpha, but from the video I'm having high hopes for it. Anyone know if there's a website for it?
MODS, please merge this thread with this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517435
For some reason the mods decided to call that other thread a dupe. I believe these are two different developers. This app is an amazing port of the GP2X (from wiki) "open-source, Linux-based handheld video game console and media player created by GamePark Holdings of South Korea."
It has an active community supporting it because it's open, and it runs all the emulators you need. And because it's linux-based, it's not too difficult to make it work for android!
this app looks incredible,
now if only the g1 had better up down left right buttons...
can't wait for this one to drop though

I pm'd the mod that closed that thread, he was unaware that it was by a different group and was responding to the thread being reported. He said for me to let him know if I want the thread re-opened or to start my own thread, but I guess we should just keep the discussion here?
not just two developers but also two different emulators this one being extremely amazing. i cant wait for this to come out. i most def think this will be an even bigger reason to not give a damn that iphones have cooler looking games compared to the ones the G1 has to offer as of now.
only thing is that it being an emulator it cant become too mainstream without it becoming a copyright nightmare. so if it does come out as a licensed app all those companies, capcom, neogeo, nintendo ect..... will have to get a cut and its most likely not gonna be a free app.
but if i were the dev, im not sure if i would want everyone(the public aka people that only see ghey ass iphone commercials) to know that the G1 capable of handling badass games. or just kinda keep the emulator underground.

o hai! - an intro

Hi guys/gals. I come from a place called nvnews. I've lurked unregistered for a while, and now that my HTC Pure is on its way (as well as an LG Xenon) I figured I'd register to further check out what this community has to offer.
I'm excited to see how the Pure can dovetail into my life as a dad, guitar player/drummer, forum mod/staff member, PC gamer and landscaper.
I've had a Blackjack I for over two years now which I OCed with OMAPClock and put WinMo 6 on it. ... and since it can't play TCPMP movies and stream the audio via bluetooth without major slowdowns, it's time for it to be retired. Guess I'll give it to my kids so they can put music on it and play some NES titles.
I'll be interested in the possibility of running Android on my Pure if it makes sense... I'll overclock it if there's a need for snappier performance, I'm excited to see how Pocket IE 6 and Opera perform vs Skyfire, I hope to play Call of Duty 2 or another decently polished FPS on it, and I'd like to investigate the possibility of the usb port to output A/V.
I can always be found at nvnews, a PC gaming hardware community that has been around for a LONG time. I'm pretty sure however that I'll probably stay logged onto this site 24/7 as well.
So yeah, hello!
Welcome to XDA! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and expectations. I hope you enjoy this site!.
One thing that you can do while you are waiting for your Pure, I will recommend that you take some time for reading the rules and visiting the forums so you can start to get familiar with this community.
Welcome again!
Cheers!

An very interesting game recommended for you

RUN!RUN!RUN! The sheep family is in danger now. They need to run fast and use their wisdom to get across various obstacles, finally go back home. Features challenging physics-based and puzzle gameplay. Each of the levels requires logic, skill to solve.
This is the casual game SheepRun. Though in Beta stage, nothing prevents it from getting lots of attention. Players cannot always find a game with such spotlights on Android market, but once you found this game, you can’t miss it and need to help those cute sheep.
Wanna know more about the game? You can click the following the link to read the rules and discription in my blog blog.mobosquare.com

I do not know if this has been posted before, but Armed has been released about a week ago. I've been playing it like crazy ever since. Has multiplayer, turn based, etc. CPU AI is pretty hard too.
Check it out here.

It still has a few bugs which may result in crashes every now and then. But it's very stable most of the time. At least for me. Its developers are working hard on some updates that address the bugs/crashes and add new features and maps. I for one don't regret spending 4 bucks for this - in my opinion - awesome game.
I haven't played/test it. I mostly just did some research of reviews. Seeing a good many people say it crashes during start up. They can't play the game. So, just a friendly advisory!
Try powering off your phone. It also has issues for region not being in English/US. So if that happens change your region I think. Otherwise, just wait for the fix.
I love the game, and $4 is nothing for this.
Hi guys.
I'm one of the developers of ARMED!
We're first time smartphone developers... we did a little Java phone development in like 2004, but most of our experience is in PC and console games. Try as we might we had some crash bugs... most of them related to non-US regions.
We spent alot of time before release testing the stability of gameplay... we ran thru hundreds of thousands of automated games driven by special stress test AI, but we made some rookie mistakes in other areas... like not testing the game in different locales.
It also doesn't help that it wasn't till yesterday that we got our first stack traces from Microsoft.... that was almost 2 weeks since our game was up on the marketplace. That's way too slow for the pace of moblie development IMO... we've learned our lesson there are have integrated Bugsense (google it... forum won't let me post links) for the next release.
Anyway the 1.1 release just appeared in the marketplace and it addresses all the bugs we knew of as of a week ago. I'm sure we'll find more, but at least the locale and a couple of dumb crash bugs were squashed and should make it playable for everyone.
Thanks for trying ARMED!
i like the graphics and control. Keep up the godo work.
Are the price depends on our country that we are residing or it's in standard USD.I mean for all the apps in the markrtplace.
Question to the developer:
I am an indie developer with Full-time job, and have my own game on Marketplace as well. How do you promote your game, and do you earn something for all hard work you put into the game ? As I see it right now, it would be really hard to make a living from it.
My game is free (with ads) and recently I added non-ads version of the game for people to donate something, or to disable ads.
What I found out is that from ads you earn ~0
Btw. As I said before your game is really an Eye candy
@Ttblondey
The developer has control over pricing in each region individually if they want to set them.
In our case we set the price for the US region and let it automatically set the equivalent price in all other regions.

I sort of agree... it depends on your app/game. Most of what i see on the marketplace are things one could build in a couple of hours or clones of other apps/games. It is hard to rally users behind you if you don't have a unique and high quality product.
At the current sales/ad rate we could not support our entire company (6 people) with ARMED! sales on WP7 alone. We could support one employee... but not 6.
To me this is a victory and shows the potential of WP7 in the future considering that its only 1%-2% of the smartphone market. With the push MS plans to make over the next few months i expect our revenue to at least double if we can keep the attention of the audience with updates and improvements.
That all said... we are looking at ports to other platforms to maximize revenue from the ARMED! brand and core tech. We're not ready to disclose what platforms those are yet... but it won't be Android.

We're struggling with our ads as well. It is all new territory for us, so i'm giving it some time before i pass judgement.
Our 1.0 release was missing ID_CAP_WEBBROWSERCOMPONENT which seems caused the ad network to not show near as many ads as it could. Still even after fixing this in 1.1 on my personal phone i still don't see ads at times which is really confusing to me. Still i see ad revenue improving, but its barely enough to by coffee for the office.
There is money to be made with ads... people are doing it now. Also WP7 often has a higher revenue on the same amount of impressions... but you have to get impressions.
If your game/app is not attracting users then you won't make money with ads. You need to be seeing 50K to 100K impressions per-day to really support yourself with ads alone. Most developers do this by shipping several high quality apps... not just a single one.
Looks very nice!
better then most of the xbox live games. you, sir, are a hero!
Great game, amazing graphics

Thanks xhirschix.
We're trying hard here to build ARMED! into a fantastic game. It really does help our motivation when people praise and especially buy the game.

its nice and amazing
V1.1 work great , wish more and more item will join feture version.
I did the try on this I like this gamethat said I didn't have any issues with it at all. and when I do a try to use if I like it I'll buy it if not I remove it this game has been bought! I had a ball playing this. and didn't get bored at all with it. though It drove me nuts at times...you know when you don't play it well... over all the game is nice and nice work done on it by the Dev team....it's well worth the money....
Looks really sweet. You should consider porting it to tablet enabled Windows 8 computers seeing as the beta goes live in Feb. Then you would be the first indie to have head to head between phone and tablet

Hi there! looking for your feedback!

Hi All!
I'm quite new android games developer. I'm looking for developers community feedback on my first "serious" project.
So, as I'm keen on brain teasers I wanted to create some puzzle game. I've started my research and found out one of old style games called Freeways. So I thoutght that I can improve it from design and car behaviour perspective.
For last couple of weeks I have few thousands of downloads but very few feedback!
And I don't know should I upgrade it further or there is no chance to find my audience....
I've spent like 1 year to make it and absolutly dissapointed that there is now feedback from players. Should I start another project? Another 1 year?
Please advise... Thank you in advance!
Link to my game is here:
Motorways mind logic puzzles - Apps on Google Play
Stack the states in brain teaser IQ puzzle. Memory & thinking car traffic maze.
play.google.com
WYSIWYG.
Feedback, yes well here you go...
Looks like a data miner to me
No reason to know my precise location or browser history, share with 3rd parties or for me not to have the option to delete collected data.
I wouldn't even install it... based on that alone.
The games I have are all firewall blocked
My favorite apps have zero permissions and never request internet service. They are also some of the best.
Hi Blackhawk! That's a feedback already. This is set up of ads mediation I'm using. Probably it stops other users aswell. Probably I need to find another mediator

I know you want sponsorship and to generate revenue. I can understand that. It's a tough business. Poweramp has a good business model and is one of my few gladly paid for apps. A lot of bang for the buck and nothing comes close to it for a stand alone music player.
Unfortunately from a user prospective that degree of data mining is potentially harmful. Personally I won't tolerate it... no app is worth that. All social media and shopping apps are banned from my devices. Done that for a decade now. One of the first things I targeted when I started using Androids.
