[Q] Few questions regarding Tmobile US but in the UK... - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heya folks, sorry if there is a post semi like this one, i honestly did search and didnt see anything remotely the same..
ordered my HD7 and it's arriving monday, but when i was browsing this site i noticed a lot of posts are about tmobile versions of the updates.. i was just wondering,
does the phone not get generic updates due it been on tmobile?
because the phone is unlocked and is stated to be region free.. if i update firmware will it be likely to lock again? (i use o2 UK)
if it will lock, how do i prevent/unlock again/unlock permanently?
Thanks in advance, sorry if these are "nooby" questions, first windows phone and first phone from america..

Stupid question i think

Sorry for my bad english..
If i buy a touch diamond in united states can i use it in italy?!
Thanks a lot!!!
Only if you purchase an unlocked Diamond. Otherwise, you have to go through a big ordeal with your carrier (if you buy it from a carrier) to get the phone unlocked.
Is it even for sale in the US yet? I was under the impression that it was still being modified to work there.
If you do get one that is designed for the US, you won't be able to use it in most of Europe as it will be designed for different bands.

T-mobile TP2 worldwide use

dear Forum
I am living in Switzerland, and i got from a US friend his "old" TP2 because he bought the new i-phone...
now i am here in Europe and can't use it because it only accepts T-Mobile SIM cards (which we don't have in Switzerland).
Moreover i am travelling quite often because of my profession and i'm usually buying local SIM's....
Does anyone know if there is a ROM which unlocks this device?
would be great if this also contains TomTom or CoPilot navigation as i own those licences arelady frommy previous device.
As I know there are two versions of TP2:
- the "normal" HTC
- the T-mobile version which got brownish color and lacks a front cam....
my question is specifically about the brownish T-mobile version.
thanks for your help

There is no ROM that will unlock your phone for you. You have to either call T-Mobile and get them to unlock the phone for you or ask your friend to call T-Mobile for the unlock code, OR you can pay to have it unlocked by providing the IMEI number to someone who knows how to unlock it. Also, ROMs generally do not come cooked with TomTom or CoPilot, so you'd have to install those separately. I'm sure if you looked around you could find the cab files to install them.
that's interesting... my old diamond came with simlock from a local carrier... after flashing it with an open ROM, the simlock was gone...
that's why I am asking if there is simlock-free ROM for this specific type of TP2...
for the "normal" one i saw plenty ROM's but because of the differences i am sceptic if they would work.
thx for ur hints
You don't need a ROM, you need to SIM-unlock your device. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555339

Ordering Online
I live in Japan, and have the same access problems to the hardware you do.
I have just ordered a SIM free HD7 from Expansys HK (http://www.expansys.com.hk/)
The shipping price hurts, as the only option is FED EX which is fast but pricey.

[Q] Unlock Vodafone p10

Hi All
Apologies as this have probably come up loads but i can't get the "reassurance" i need to do it.
Basically i am the proud owner of the p10 via vodfone uk ... i am looking at maybe unlocking the phone (I know this can be done) but the outcome i want is for it to essentially be stock or in other words as if i purchased an unlocked P10 on amazon for example.
The reason for this is i would like quicker access to updates in Europe rather than wait for the carrier to arrange them. The software from vodafone UK doesn't seem to be as smooth as when i see reviews based on unlocked phones ? some micro stuttering in the app draw and chrome seems to run badly. I know some phones shipped with slower onboard storage but mine was a shade under 800 mbs when i checked so all OK on that front.
So once i have unlocked the phone how do i then make the phone as if its a standard unlocked model ... suspect it would involve flashing a new ROM ? I am sticking with Vodafone for now so is an unlock code even needed? could i flash a stock rom other the vodafone software ?
Many thanks in advance

Question SM-G998U1 Question

Hi everyone,
I'm very new to this website but it seems like all the smart people are here and hopefully I can get some help!
I have a few questions regarding my S21 Ultra.
As you can see from my model number, I have the US variant of this phone. However, I now live in the UK and have an UK sim card, along with my US eSIM that I used before.
1. My software security patch/software was last updated in November, but this was the October 1st update. Is there any way that I can update to a more recent one? I've read forums saying I can flash(?) using odin(?) but to be honest I don't know how any of this works and don't want to ruin my phone.
2. My phone has been restarting by itself for a while now, sometimes multiple times in a day, sometimes it doesn't do it for a week. Do you think this might have to do with having a different SIM from a different country?
I'd appreciate any guidance and help that anyone can provide!
Thank you!
No.
Your phone not need a update, all continents version is the same.
