[Q] [desperite]How long could odin repartition take? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
how long could a repartition with odin take? Its taking 10mins on "SET PARITION" for now. I wiped system before through CWM and flashed a CWM rom afterwards which didnt work and then started to reflash JVH through odin with repartiton checked and pit 512.
Could i unplug the phone if its stuck at set partition? Well it says "Do not turn off target in Odin" ... but i guess its stuck ... or could repartiton take so long?
Pls help
Cheers

Just to add to your post;
If you get any sign of life (light, vibration or any kind of image) then it's not bricked all you'll need is a JIG (you can build one for very cheap).
If that's not the case.. Well back to Trusselo's post
my suggestion is to try this first:

A JTAG is a module that will shoot the boatloaders in your phone. It has to be plugged directly to your phone's board so I suggest you get someone weith experience to do it.
I know that AdamOutler (sorry if I miss spelled) from Team Komin (A3) and Connexion2005 were offering JTAG services for free (for testing purpose). I this point, you have nothing to lose. Your phone is indeed bricked.
Here's a nice thread that will explain what happened: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049294

Depends.
how did you proceed?
I mean, you can use the 2.3 boatloaders on 2.2 ROMs but you need to flash back to stock using Odin. Even then, it doesn't always work and you've a good chance of bricking your phone.
EDIT: Thx Studa.. was typing too fast lol

Odin one click replaces both bootloaders bro.
To keep the gb bootloaders you use full odin with .tar files that don't contain ANY bootloaders.
omg i feel slow its it the phone or the battery?
strate answer please
The phone.

Cognition contains the sbl.bin (secondary bootloader) you flashed directly from gingerbread so now you have a gingerbread boot.bin and a froyo/eclair sbl.bin.
In short completely bricked.
Jtag debricking is your only out.
Ok i just got my RMA phone and thats the last time im romming
Thats the risk you assume when you try flashing roms when you have apparently done little to no research...

If all you get when you put your battery in out is a black screen and the keys on the bottom do not light up, it is hard bricked. I did it on friday. Took it into warranty center. They swapped battery and same result. 10 minutes later I walked out with a "new" phone.

How to unbrick samsung galaxy Mini GTS5570

My phone, (Samsung GT S 5570) Just died a few days ago while I was installing some software. The software was Clockwork Mod. To install this, I used an application from Google Play called -Rom Manager. After installing the app, I clicked something like flash clockwork mod, and a list was brought to me, from which I was to select my phone model, but unfortunately my wasn't among the list. So, I picked the first Model type and proceeded. The clockwork Mod was installed correctly and so I went to the next attempt and that was to Partition my SD Card. Consequently, my phone went off and I thought that it would restart on itself but....! I tried to restart it on my own but the LCD didn't even turn on. What do I do? To make it worse, the phone won't even go into recovery mode. The phone was already rooted, so no warranty. I suppose the phone is Bricked. Someone please help.
My email address, [email protected]
Thanks in advance.
Your phone is bricked and it's because you were trying to install CWM for a device that was probably not even remotely close to yours. Also wrong section I would suggest posting in this section forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1311 and seeing if they might be able to help you.

NEVER install CWM via rom manager it just isn't compatible with our device and 99.99% of people brick their phones because of it. And yes, your phone is probably bricked, hard brick. What u can do now is to try a usb jig method which is available in the guide in my sig.

You're totally out of luck on this one mate, now you have a very nice paper weight if you still have a valid warranty, just bring the brick to the service center and they'll fix it for you, but never ever mention flashing, clockwork mod or anything related it happened while updating with kies, that's it and guide for making usb jig provided by tietganFTW works, I made one for myself already and tested it on mini, so there's nothing to worry about on this one

but I still don't get it.. how can a software update "kill" your phone..?
When I was on GB, I got a software update and by mistake I tapped on "Install"... ( I didn't want to install because I was using custom kernel)... so after the update downloaded.. it went to Recovery or something to install but it couldn't.. my phone showed me an "Broken Android" logo or something and turned off... After turning it on everything was OK (fortunately)...

GT-N7000 bricked?
Good day
I am new in this forum, but please help. the following summarizes my problem:
1: I upgraded it to 4.1.2 using N7000UBLSF_N7000UUBLSF_TTT about 2 months ago using Odin. It worked well
2. latter I tried to root with PhilZ-cwm6-UBLSF-UBB-4.87.6.tar.md5 using Odin. It was not successful, instead, it brought a yellow triangle with with an exclamation mark inside while booting up, but, it still worked well.
3. Yesterday, i tried to root it again with http://205.196.123.93/16u53bf954yg/6bxp34p353tf8ob/PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.63-signed.zip. It rooted quit alright but with the yellow triangle still there.
4. I then tried to remove the yellow bang with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888
5. my phone went off totally. i tried the Jig, no effect. Plugged it to the computer and still no sign of life. How can i solve this?
I will appreciate any help rendered.

Its not good practice to hijack a thread in the middle of someone seeking help... If you really need to, start your own. I realise this is your first post, just letting you know how it works.
Philz kernels are meant to be flashed from recovery, not odin which is why you got the yellow triangle. I have no idea what method you took to remove yellow triangle, but easiest way is to use triangleaway from the play store.
You rooted correctly the first time and it was successful, you then tried to flash an incompatible Philz kernel which is why it won't boot. Flash a full rom using pc odin and start again, and read the instructions fully next time.

No, warrantees don't cover intentional damage. You can recover a bricked phone for $50 US with the JTAG process. See www.mobiletechvideos.com.

Hard bricked my phone...

I wasn't paying attention and I messed up. I was planning on flashing AllianceROM to the latest version, and without thinking I downloaded the zip file and started to flash. In the middle of the process, my phone shut off suddenly, and now it won't even turn on. I plug it in and the computer doesn't register anything.
I realized that I flashed it with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lliancerom-v9-available-changelog-op-t2037363, which is for the Galaxy S2.
Have I completely messed up? Is this phone basically irreparable? I can't go into safe mode or anything like that. And I've obviously voided the warranty...
If you can't get into Odin mode or Recovery, then yes, unfortunately you bricked it.

Would it be "fixed" if I got the motherboard replaced? How about jtagging or usb jig?
I should still be under warranty but Samsung says I need proof of purchase even though they know the purchase date. I seem to have misplaced the receipt and it's making me want to tear my hair out because they're basically avoiding having to help me. (I understand this was my fault but they're blatantly saying I have no warranty.)
Probably need a new motherboard. If you can't get it to power up at all.

It can be done for the g900a you just gotta find a debrick image. There was one in this thread but not sure if it's still active or not.

I read a bit into the threads and one person said that if the computer won't even recognize it then I probably am out of luck? Is this true?
Edit: I tried using Win32DiskImager, and it did not work. I press the power button and it wont turn on, and as usual the computer wont recognize it.

Not sure about the computer....i think it usually shows QHUSB_BULK when hard bricked...again not sure though.
If it's not powering on with a properly flashed debrick SD card then your probably going to need jtag or new board.
