Best Rom for Mini s??

Just bought a O2 mini s. I've seen loads of posts regarding roms.
Any opinions which is the latest & best rom for the mini s??
Any help/advice wud be great! Thanx

Use the latest O2 Rom
O2 have just released the latest ROM pack which you can download from the XDA section of the site. It is working well for me. It is definately better than the original and and the QTEK ROM I was using whilst I waited for the AKU2 updated ROM from O2.
I understand that O2 are delaying shipping the Mini S phones whilst they upgrade it is possible that you have the latest ROM if purchased in the last few days.

This may be a silly question, but could I simply run lokiwiz on my MDA Vario (hasn't even arrived yet) and then use the latest O2 update or is there an IMEI check to prevent me from doing this?

O2 mini s ROM
Thanx for the info, i had noticed O2 had made a recent rom updated when i researched the product before buying. Mine is in transit & should arrive 2moro with any luck.
It may well have the new rom, this might be a silly question but how will i know if it has the new rom pre-installed??

When you 1st turn on the device, or whenever you soft reset the device, the rom version will be displayed in the bottom right of the boot screen.
You may also be able to find out by going into settings and clicking the about icon.

I'm just correcting my previous post the rom version shows at the top left on the wizard when booting after a softreset mine arrived today and is running 1.6.2.4.
you can also check this in the device information applet in settings.
this isn't the latest rom available but it seems to operate very quickly so i'm gonna stick with it until tmobile release an offical update. (or until i get bored and can't help fiddling with it.)

Official O2 Germany ROM Version 1.37.207.3

O2 Germany today released a "new" ROM version for their diamond:
Version 1.37.207.3
I guess there's nothing new or fancy in there since even newer stock ROMs have been seen before - but I'll give it a shot and keep you updated about the versions of the specific components once I updated my Diamond...

Great - DO NOT INSTALL THIS ROM! Custom weather cities don't work properly anymore... They ship an even older version of Manila...
I guess it's time to get into installing cooked ROMs now... But at least there's now an official image that I can use for warranty reasons.
No new Radio or SPL as well.

While I must revoke my statement about the custom cities (they do work, my mistake) this ROM still is not worth the upgrade...

I just called O2 and they told me there are almost no changes done in this rom and recommended me not to upgrade.

YES the windows 6.1 update is the one from april may ... AND YES its not new .....

.... its the system operating rom update thats new . It is on for download since about a week since they started with the new download system.

To me its weird that a lot of website and press were talking about the new 6.1 update a few months ago. Now there is a second ROM on their website since a week and no one seams to be interested in that. What if it contains HTC solution to the videodrivers or something ??? But again .... nobody seams to have spotted this new ROM in the "press world" .

ITS NOT the normal wm 6.1 update ....... its the " HTC TyTN II - Operating System [ROM] Update " thats new on the htc website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was not on in the old HTC download system (via ECLUB) and is just on there website since about 7 days .

Small note : the NORMAL wm6.1 upgrade is stated as a "HOTFIX" on the HTC download site and the operating ROM upgrade is stated as an "ROM upgrade"
Now the problem is ... my S/N works with the NORMAL WM6.1 download. But the NEW "ROM UPGRADE" does not accept my S/N .
OW AND ABOUT THE DATE OF 2008-08-04 ......
thats august the 4th 2008 .... thats the date the new HTC download system went in operation and probably the date that page was made. SO ALL DOWNLOADS for the tytn 2 have this date ..... also the older ones. The date says noting about the release .... the second ROM UPGRADE in the tytn 2 download list ..... THATS THE MYSTERY because it was not on for dowload PRIOR the date of 2008-08-04 ... just the 6.1 upgrade and some other small bugfixes

I tihink it's an older update, but because the support site changed they put it on again with the same date (2008-08-04) as the 6.1 rom upgrade...

Well like i said in my post ....... before there was ONLY the 6.1 ROM update.
To my knowledge there NEVER was an ROM update EXEPT for the 6.1 update.
Before the 6.1 update there were only hotfixes and patches on the HTC website. So how could they post an older ROM when they never posted an older ROM

Reading the message I understand there is a 6.1 patch coming. Maybe it's the rom update that's on the site now and maybe they still need to add the device serial numbers for us to download it?

omfg.......

I saw that HTC rom entry today too! Trying to download it, I input my serial number but an error message is displayed: "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device".
With the same Kaiser S/N I can download the "normal" 6.1 ROM upgrade from the same page...

Guys My Serial No. Works For the The Updates.
WM 6.1 update is the same old update but with a new radio so it might be having some patches.
The second one is WM6 rom which came originally with my tytnII its a very old rom with nothing new in it.

Yup could be the 6.0 Rom. The thing i can't understand is why it was never on before ( could not download the 6.0 ROM 1 year ago after i bought the TyTn II and 2 weeks ago it was not on either) and why my device is not suitable for that Rom with my serial.... i origanally bought it with the 6.0
*UPDATE ** Now the links changed (i adapted the in the starting post ) and i also see touch cruise "HTC Touch Cruise Operating System [ROM] Upgrade" in the downloadlist ......... sigh ... perhaps this is a mistake while the are working at the website .... wonder what happens if i use the cruise upgrade at my tytn II

Umm, I know this is not as exciting as 1080p playback and 3D drivers supporting DirectX 11.0 but perhaps it IS just a new radio and nothing else?

The Swedish ROM has also changed
Old: 3.29.413.0 & 1.65.16.25
New: 3.29.413.0 & 1.65.17.56
I logged in to HTC Club and checked and there they said that there where no upgrades awailable for me but then i checked the link in the 1st post

From a HTC rep we heard that there will be a full ROM update next week. Just hope this news actually is true. I would like to see a new official ROM.

Next week could be the time ..... but I'm a newb, so what do I know?

well what no one seems to be able to answer is if it is possible to download the tytn II update and install on the tilt (essentially the same phone) and if it is possible how do you go about downloading it? (htc requires a serial number)

You can download the TyTn II ROM for the Tilt. Its posted on here somewhere. And yes it works.

This Is The Best update
Now my TyTN works better then ever.
This ROM was the best.
The GPS starts imidiatly. I mean, when i start iGO 8 and i go directly to check the satelites they are green and ready.
As soon as i start iGO im ready to use it, NO waiting at all.
Before when i was talking on the phone the battery got warm and it wasnt so nice to talk for long.
Now it never change temp or if it does i dont feel it.
And with the new camera that the cool Navida supplied, i am very satisfied with my TyTN II

need help in upgrading !!!!!!

hi! everyone i just got my htc diamond from bell mobility .my rom version is 1.13 and rom date 10/02/08.as I was going through the forum i found out most of the guys have upgraded to or have higher version .so i tried downloading new version for the rom but htc site says "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device." .and there is one more thing even after installing microsoft .net 3.5 i'm not able to use light saber it shows some error. kindly help me out .

is your diamond tied to someone operator? If so have they no update to the just released, but apparently concluded after you have such a ROM old. You can always install some ROM from this page, read the guide how you will take to install HARDSPL, it's just to read you should see that it goes the way. also had problems with it with Netcf 3.5 but in the majority of ROM's are in from the start. good luck

sorry for this topic, but I'm new here and not too skilled, so I need a detailed help 'cause I'm getting crazy!!...
Well, I have a p3600 EN version,
WM5,
rom version 1.23.405.2 (dated 2007-03-11),
radio version 1.38.00.11,
ExtVersion 1.23.405.103.
I read everywhere that HTC released rom and radio upgrades which unlock GPS (that I actually don' t see),
so I tried to download the latest official rom version (I still don't know the code, it should be the 1.23.408...) from the HTC download area, but it makes me download ONLY the same rom version that I still have, the 1.23.405.2!!!
I tried to flash it anyway and nothing changed...
That's why the 405.2 may is the latest rom version available for my phone?
Or my phone may have some sort of lock on it's codes so that I can't upgrade anything? it could be possible?
What is the right rom version I should have?
Please help me!!!

Hi Debby,
After you upgrade your ROM you wiil need to flash radio with Trinity_Radio_1567011_1216023505 .
To test GPS function download and intstall on the phone GPS test, then choose beetwen Tom Tom and IGO and install'it on the phone.

So the steps are: install the rom u will send me, then install the radio upgrade, and then test the GPS...right?

I have the ROM upgrade only for radio version 1.56.70.11.
This upgrade is aplying only to the radio ROM
Your WM ROM will not change.
This is what I have on my P3600:
ROM version 1.23.405.2
ROM date 03/11.07
Radio ROM 1.56.70.11
ExtROM version 1.23.405.103
Before upgrading the radio ROM ,try the GPS test program.
Some phones "reveal" GPS capabilities with your radio ROM version.
Anyway,in both ROM version you don't actually see an icon for GPS device.
Install GPS test, run it from programs menu and you will see if you need or not an radio ROM upgrade.
If your GPS unit is enebled, the program will find it.
First connection of the GPS unit will take 3 or maybe 4 minute.
comunication port: 9
speed 57600
If GPS test find a GPS unit, install an navigation application(IGO or Tom Tom) , run it and enjoy

FWIW here is a link to the official WM5 ROM that does enable the GPS chip. It's the one i used initially to enable the GPS before making the leap to WM6.1. If i remember correctly it's a one step upgrade. Think it is the ROM/Radio you already have.
