The problem is currently have is that some of my texts that I send will not be received by the other phone until after about 30 minutes...
It clearly shows on my captivate that it's sent. But the person receiving it gets it like 30 minutes later... This has occurred no matter what the carrier was.
Btw. I'm using the stock messaging application that comes on darky 10.1.
The only thing that I can think of is that I usually have my data network mode deactivated(to save battery) which makes my signal bar turn white(instead of green)...
Is not having h/3g have to do with sending messages? Or just flash again?
Any solutions? Please help...
Sent from my Galaxy S captivate
try turning on data and send it again.
Yeah that works... but it also sometimes work without it on...
Turning data off saves so much battery life so thats why im trying to find a way to have it off

Guys!
when i send a msg to someone, very very often instead of sending 1sms it sends several, ranging from 2 to 6 even.
so heres the story:
1. write sms to a friend. = 1 sms less than 160char
2. send sms to friend
3. receive delivery report, or even if option is off, no matter.
4. get a reply from my friend that i sent him the msg several times.
- this is not isolated case, this has happened with numerous numerous numbers. from different networks and different numbers etc. so theres a problem i think. whats wrong?
Yes only recently I've been Having thois problem with my XDA2i
Happens if I shut down Messagin before its sent as it seems to send it but doesn't remove from the outbox and then sends again when I open messaging again.
no non o, i do close messaging always. but its like if you just choose also: NEW -> message from the today screen. but itheres no msg in outbox, and i get that it sent msg. and get delivery also.
mayb idnt understand ur story 2 well?
I have the same problem
I have the exact same problem. I think three is the maximum number of times I have seen it sent. My phone only shows it once in the outbox and, if I remember correctly, shows only the time I actually sent the message - not the time(s) of the repeat(s). The repeated message may go out many hours after the actual send. This has been happening for a year or more.
Sorry I don't have any ideas why it happens.
yeah yeah yeah. you're right. i had once 7 msgs sent to my sister over a period of 8 or more hours even the next morning when she woke up she got a msg at like 7am from me same old thing damn you know. can get confusing at times. no solutions?
i sent a multiple msg to about 10 people on my bill appeared that i sent around 70 msgs
holy sh**. darn that aint good at all. that really really aint good at all. talk bout a money spendin scam ok. no we need big big help on sb to help us out 2 that. but no1 has ideas i guess:/ hopefully this topic wont die and sb will b able2save us.
I had the same problem, i think it was caused by task managers, it only seemed to happen when i had either vbar or spb installed. I don't use a task manager now and i don't have the problem.
Yes, YOu're not alone guys me too have the same problem here.....
does anyone know how to fix the double SMS problem in O2 XDA IIi ?
everytime I send SMS, it will re send again, so the recipient always received two or more same SMS from me. :-( this is very annoying.
you know - ppl think i'm an idiot or smth and continuously keep sending me replies "no need to send it twice" and so on yeah....aint the brightest side o life. but i think what i read smwhere else is true - if i just dont close the messaging window until it sends then it should b ok i think. bnut thats still not a solution...
Ive had this issue for some while, but it's really bugging me..
I turn on my phone after being down in the bunker at work all day (no signal there)
I get a flurry of text messages and my phone also works..
But i look in my outbox, my messages are sitting there waiting to be sent..
after 5 mins I hit "send/receive" it either fails.. or seems to do nothing.
I turn the airplane mode on and off to reset..
same issue.
I turn the phone off and on
same issue.
Now, if my phone can make phone calls and accept/send text messages, why doesnt the phone send/pick up emails.
(and yes i have it sent to send me them straight away etc)
It's not all the time, but it does happen a fair bit.
Its one of the bugs that realy bugs me!!!
Help please!

Can you connect to the internet as soon as you leave "the bunker"? Email requires an active internet connection. SMS and phone calls do not. Some areas with weak signal can give you a phone signal but with no internet.
Some warnings like "message cannot be sent because bla bla..." or something else?
thanks for your replies
ahh you see, i thought that if i had phone connection (but had no 3g/g/edge etc) then my emails/internet would work too , but just very slowly..
That must be it :-(
is annoying though how it can sometimes take ages to get an internet signal.. where as on some days its almost instant.
I've been having this problem for a few months now. I'm from holland and I already emailed my provider but the told me they can't help me.
So there are a few things happening:
My screen lights up but there's no message coming in. A few minutes (or hours) later I get the message that was supposed to be received at the time it lit up. Sometimes when I go to comm manager and turn the radio on and off or just soft reset the phone, I also receive the texts.
I send/receive messages when I start using the phone, like when you open a menu or something.
Sometimes I keep getting the same texts over and over again from the same person.
I've tried a few different ROMs so that can't be the problem.
Someone told me about flashing a new radio maybe that could do it?
Please help me??
Thanks!
Seems like the same problem as me
i'm also from the netherlands..
i hope someone knows a fix.
my nexus from time to time says that the text messages that i sent doesnt send. i would get a notification saying that it didnt send, however when i go to resend, sometimes it goes through and sometimes it doesnt. my friends have told me that they do get all the texts messages everytime, so they get them even if my phone says it didnt send. its reaaaaaaalllllyy annoying to see that notification every time. im running cyanogenmod 5.0.6 any thoughts?
oh btw fellas, i work at ATT and i changed my sim card and all that jazz so its not the service what so ever
I have similar issues every now and then. Usually occurs when I am sending texts fast.
I have the same issue minus that all my text usually don't go through. I usually end up rephrasing what I wanted to send and it sends.
it happens from time to time for me too, i sometimes have to reboot
Suddenly, on or after Sept. 14th, I can no longer send MMS messages (texts with pics). I recently performed the Motorola/ATT software upgrade, but cannot say that they are related issues. I operate almost exclusively on Edge (Blue "E", five bars"). Nothing faster anywhere close to test with. I do have wifi, but they wont send that way either.
When I try to send an MMS, it shows a green arrow below the picture for about a half hour. Then I get a "message not sent" notification, and a red "X" next to the picture. Last week, I was sending MMS with impunity. Today, after an hour on the phone with ATT, nothing. He wants me to take the phone back to ATT so they can "remove the battery for me". I tried to explain to him that the battery does not come out on the HD, but I am pretty sure he thought he was simply talking to some dumb mountain man from Kentuuuucky. He said there was nothing more he could do unless I removed the battery...
Any suggestions as to why I can't send pics anymore? I've tried several images (largest about 77kb) and numerous friends numbers. No problem receiving them, just nothing going out. Multiple reboots. Everything else on the phone is nominal.
Thanks!

Can you take a screenshot of your APN Settings? Maybe try to reset those to default afterwards.

Check your apn and turn off wifi + smart actions.

Wifi on or off, does not make any difference to the MMS issue.
My APNs only show ATT PTA. All the selections deeper in are grayed out...
Ummm, how do I turn off Smart Actions?
Thanks, y'all...
CG
Open Smart Actions.
If any say Active, click them and I the top right corner there will be a on/off toggle.
If they say Ready then they're not on so no need to turn them off

If I have battery extender going while trying to send mms, it fails due to background data limitation. Just putting it out there.

Solved.....?
Follow up. Went without ability to send MMS for about ten days. The other morning I had an opportunity to travel about sixty miles from my home, into another Edge network I guess, and the phone worked perfectly. Drove all over the region, in and out of E and 4G, and sent MMS to everyone. As I got back close to home, it quit working again. In fact, during one test, I drove just a few miles and it started to fail. Drove back out of that "blackout area" and it worked. Drove back in, fail. Curiously, a friend I was experimenting with also could not send MMS from the "hole". Outage? But, by the time I got back home, it was working. Continues to work.
Could taking the phone out of a certain area and back in cause something to reset? Of course, ATT took credit for it by saying something to that effect. There still seemed to be a region near my home that will not allow MMS to be sent. Going to go back there today and do another test. Nevertheless, the phone is working again.....
